Steak and ale pie was Devine , was served by 2 lovely ladies, 1was taking our order and the other was quite young bringing the food out , what a great pair , you can tell they enjoy working with each other whilst having a laugh but still providing excellent service ; what a great pair they make ! The food is a little on the expensive side but going to a restaurant u tend to splash the cash and the quality was great could do with a few extra chips just to fill the plate up though. Non the less it was great thank you. ( we didn’t catch their names but if the management see this; one lady had a short bob and the other dark hair very hardworking ladies )

Food was top notch , service brilliant our waitress mia was very attentive with 2 children on another table that really elevated the atmosphere, her service was great with descriptions of the menu (fish pie was great)

This place actually gets better, or I get more fond of it.... Every time we try a spontaneous meal out and it goes astray, we pop back to The Travellers. The baked cheese to share is a superb starter. And don't forget to check the specials board.

We hadn't booked, but we were given a table straightaway at lunchtime. We didn't have to wait long for our food. There was plenty of choice and it was well cooked and tasty. There was plenty of room in the car park.

We were served by Holly. She was kind, considerate and very polite. Excellent

Booked a meal for my mother and nephew on Sunday 29.09024. Normally, the food that we have had on previous occasions has been lovely, unfortunately, on this occasion it was very poor. My mother had a fish pie which was watery and covered with hard mashed potato. It was served with a tiny portion of peas and hard sour dough bread. My nephew had a steak that was very tough, served with about 10 chips and half a tomato. He then had a blackcurrant tart desert, that had to be chopped up with a knife and fork as it was so hard. My mother did raise her concerns,which were met with a "sorry". I realise everywhere is busy and trying to cope with working with minimal staff and reduced stock in order to keep prices down, but this quality of food is NOT acceptable. Come on guys, your food used to be spot on, what's happened??????.

Very dissatisfied with visit today. Been here many times for Sunday roast and always been happy but was shocked by the big increase in price, £17,49 for roast pork dinner. Got 2 small slices of very fatty pork, the roast potatoes were tough as overbaked, could not cut them so so hard, veg were bland and not very warm. It seems price has increased but quality dropped, don't think will come again sadly.

Staff were friendly and helpful - no salads on the menu which was disappointing, so found little choice for my diet. The food I had was very nice.

Got told 15mins for a table for two 1hr later we had to remind dear Richard that we are still waiting only to see 6 people eating food that had walked in after we had arrived ! Feel like just walking out as food still not here so can't even say how good bad or average it is ! Pretty poor Service so far !

Eat out every Sunday and probably the worst meal I have had in a long time Not the cheapest so you expect a decent standard of produce? . I had roast beef which was 2 tiny dried up pieces of overcooked cheap beef. My partner had a tiny portion of pork which was shrivelled and burnt.The girl serving us asked if everything was okay and we said no and she offered to change the meat. I didn’t see the point as if beef quality is poor it’s not going to get any better . My partner changed his pork and the new offering was worse?? The veg was a tiny portion of carrot and swede mashed up( probably frozen) and a leek thrown on top?? Food was lukewarm. Asked the couple beside us what they thought and said it was very poor quality. Have been a couple of times before and food was always lukewarm but at least it tasted good.

Sadly it would seem the host has some prejudice towards anyone without their nose in the air. A clear shift in persona when talking to others dining. A friendly chatty manner to someone who wouldn’t look up from their tablet to make eye contact with anyone who appears to be “middle classed.” Shame about the discrimination, Food was nice however.

My parents and I met up here for a dinner together. There was plenty of out door seating but we decided to eat in because of the weather. The food arrived quickly and was well cooked and presented nicely. The only thing negative about our visit, is that it could do with a good clean through of cobwebs around the seating areas. Although spiders can weave webs in less than a day, the dust on the webs shows they've been there for sometime!

Hannah and Kiera sorting us out with table, food and drinks. Love their smiles and energy. Any issues were quickly sorted, all absolutely fine. Really busy restaurant, but everyone looked after very professionally.

Visited for the first time this evening. Food was amazing, definitely recommend the lamb shank shepherd's pie! We was served by Hannah who was so attentive and friendly! Lovely atmosphere, 100% recommend!

Came here for food. Was not disapointed lovely meal and a good atmosphere. Really busy pub but staff were very attentive.

Very professionally cared for by our host Layla. It’s many years since we were last here but we shall be back with friends. The food could not be faulted.

Popped in for late lunch on a Sunday. It is a nice environment with a decent choice of food and drink. This was really let down by the standard of the roast beef Sunday dinner, it was poor. The beef was dry and grey, and the portion was really small. For two of us to have two rounds of drinks and two main courses at £75, it did not feel good value (my wife however was very happy with her vegetarian Sunday roast).

One of my all time favourite places to come for a meal! Out the way and super chilled out!

Been coming here for 40+ years, so have seen its various incarnations. It's remained a favourite throughout the decades. Only ever had one disappointing experience & management swiftly dealt with this. We visit, several times a year, with various friends, (& dog, whose photo is near the bar, with other canine regulars) family, or just the 2 of us. We will visit again soon.

Excellent food! Staff went above and beyond to get us an unbooked table at a busy time. Nice venue.

Myself and my partner both had food poisoning after eating the calamari, I informed the manager to which I was advised I got it from somewhere else.

I had the mixed grill, not impressed. The chicken breast was minuscule, gone in three bites and a dozen chips. The steak and gammon did have a decent grilled taste. Overall it looked sparse on the plate. My companion had the chicken and bacon sandwich which was dry and again was thin on chicken and even less bacon. I wish I had taken a picture

Had Sunday lunch 11/08/24 staff very good, Sunday roast absolutely the worst I have ever had.Had lamb belly 4 of the tiniest bits of lamb needed a magnifine glass to see them, need to go and see how other places who do the Sunday lunch far better than the travellers rest.

Pleasant location but £13.70 for 1 pint a fruit shoot and an orange and lemonade #really.

Atmosphere very quiet due to time of the day tbh, pleasant girl served me my wife to be and son/ girlfriend, food was ok but their pie looked lovely and left half it was that big. Lovely place to go will continue to do so.

I came on 19th July. Food was very poor. Steak was full of grisle. Staff were in different to customers, more interested in chatting to colleagues than paying attention to customers.in particular I was upset how staff were with an elderly couple who had been given a voucher and were stressing how to use it. They failed yo explain to them other than say give it to me at the end. We had to help tehm as a result. It was extremely bad service but more so to those two elderly people who needed assistance, one having lost their sight. Poor food, poor service means I won't be returning. This pub used to have a good reputation but not now!

This place never disappoints. The food has always been perfect, and the staff are super friendly and helpful.

Very poor service, just not interested. Had to help an old couple next to us because staff were disinterested. Asked for water, never arrived. Food sub standard, fish skin limp and soggy, steak full of gristle. Squid limp and rubbery. We will not be back !

Had a few meals there now and I can honestly say never had a bad meal yet with so much choice aswell,great atmosphere, and great service,they wont let you down

At almost £6.50 per pint, us and many other regulars have stopped visiting here as often. There are plenty of other pubs nearby with equally nice atmospheres that don’t want to rip off their clientele.

Love coming here. Staff are friendly and accommodating - and very importantly are dog friendly! Food is reasonably priced and good value

The food was gorgeous. And good for the price. There was a good selection of drinks. James, our server, was lovely and checked we enjoyed our food and was attentive to every table around us too.

Poor customer service. Poor food quality.

Have had many fab meals here but were disappointed last night . I made the booking and had conformation text on my mobile ,but they had nt got us down . Was made to feel that it was our mistake ,which it most certainly was not . I ve made bookings this way many times. Service was not as good as previously ,they are usually friendly and cheerful . But this seemed lacking last night . We have been coming here for many years .

Took my visitors there for lunch, they just loved it as ive always done. Excellent friendly staff, lovely enjoyable meal, will be certainly visiting Travellers Reast again.

Brilliant service by Olivia! Food was good. Well worth a visit. 2024- Updated menu, not worth the prices. Extortionate and to make up your meal you have to buy the sides on top.

Lovely local, with friendly staff and nice food. My one issue is that they allow dogs into the pub where people are eating. Whilst they have a restaurant, the over flow of customers eat the the pub area which often includes a number of dogs. This can be off putting and in my opinion not very hygienic.

Have been to the Travellers Rest on many occasions and always loved both the food and the atmosphere. However, on my last visit (6 of us) the service was very poor and we had to wait almost an hour for the food. Also had to request the dessert menu on several occasions, then to top it all, was given the wrong bill!! Felt like the waitres was just not interested. I wrote complaining well over two weeks ago but not had a reply or even an acknowledgement from Travellers, so extremely disappointed to be honest.

Excellent food and brilliant service from our waitress. All at a decent price, and we weren't rushed to vacate our table.Thank you.

We've been here a few times and the food is always very good! service is friendly and fast and it's a great place to sit outside on a sunny day. We will be back :)

Awesome food, fabulous service, very hardworking staff, yet so welcoming and friendly, and they take Blue Light card, which was a bonus!!, the only thing id improve is to put in a couple more accessible parking spots. The accessible loo was spotless as well. Huge thanks. Been several times since and can 100% recommend this awesome place. The 2 ladies on last night were just amazing. I even got the trick for the chefs crispy onions lol.

Went with a few friends a couple days ago. Ordered a Burger and chips with a pint of Coca Cola. Asked for the coke without ice and was given a pint glass not full. Maybe it's cheeky for me to expect a full pint of it without ice but come on it's £4.50 for a glass of the stuff and the syrup and soda water costs pennies. Food was average at best and expensive. The burger was overcooked and someone had tried to be fancy with "marmite mayonnaise" which didn't pay off because it just tasted odd. Asked for ketchup got a tiny little ramekin of it. And there was a tiny tiny portion of chips on the plate. Guys I paid £22 and you're being stingy with ketchup, cola syrup and chips? The actual pub is lovely. Honestly so nice, clean and inviting inside and the sunny weekend weather on the terrace sort of made up for it. But it's just annoying to go to a place that cost £22 when I could've found somewhere in the £13 - £18 range that wouldn't have been stingy over things that cost the business pennies. Judging by the positive reviews and the clean state of the restaurant its probably more for older folks with more money than myself and smaller appetites.

Drinks were great however the outside seating was blocked off. They had a limited range of drinks and a limited stock of them however the staff were amazing and the atmosphere was great

Went for breakfast bank holiday Monday, by far the best breakfast we've had out for a very long time. Staff were wonderful and very accommodating, friendly and impeccable service. As we couldn't decide between full English or pancakes we asked if we could order off the little ones menu that way we could have both and not be pigs, it wasn't a problem. Quality of produce, and flavour of everything was superb. We will definitely be coming back.

I've been going here for 20 years. Great food and they now do breakfast.

It’s a nice place to stop and have a bite to eat and drink. Bar snacks are better both in quality and value than the main menu. Beer is very expensive but as its a drive to and from place, that’s not normally too much of an off put

Food was great and an excellent choice from the chef's specials. But disappointed with service. Efficient and not slow but it was the manner of delivery. Never actually saw the bill just told how much it was and the receipt.

My sister and I took our mum out for lunch yesterday for her 93rd birthday to The Travellers Rest. We booked in advance as it gets quite busy. ( I think you have me down name wise, as I just said !) We tend to share everything as our mum eats like a bird but that wasn't a problem. The sharing board was lovely and so were the trio of puddings. Layla was our server throughout the meal and took time to make sure we were well looked after and even altered an item on the sharing board so it was more suitable for our taste. We normally go to garden centres with mum but the lovely surroundings of The Travellers Rest and the wonderful service and food mean we now have another option. Thanks Linda Davies

Came Easter Sunday , I'm not one to complain but this has to be the worst Sunday roast I've ever had, my 4 year old could cook better. I came here through many recommendations that the food was great from friends and family, I can only think that they must of been intoxicated when telling me because this was far from it. I would not recommend coming here unless you have no taste buds and blind. I will not be returning.

One of my favourite places. Great food and beer selection. Amasing service and friendly staff. Be aware if turning up at the door hoping for a table, I'd suggest booking as your may have a long wait at peak times (And there's lots of those)

Have been going here with family and friends for a few years now and always really enjoyed the Sunday roasts. Unfortunately the past few times I have been it has got worse each time, the meals served to us Easter Sunday were no where near worth the £20 price point. The portion was very small and the quality of the food was disappointing, especially all of the meats that were served. You wouldn’t mind paying £20 a meal if the food was good quality but for a tiny portion of pork, fatty beef, undercooked Yorkshire puddings, 2 carrots and a couple roast potatoes! There was a table nearby who also had the same issues. Hopefully the quality improves again but won’t be going back until it does.

My wife and I had the meat and fish sharer. Then the lambshank pie followed by the salted caramel sundae for dessert. Every morssal was delicious. The service was also very good. The girls were courteous and friendly. The whole experience was delightful and then to get a blue light discount too made it even better. We'll done everyone. I would recommend the Travellers to anyone.

We had a lovely lunch here today. Great setting, food and service. A good selection of vegan options too which was very welcome. Would love a vegan Yorkshire pud next time I come though 😉. We were served by Hannah who was excellent. Thank you!

Visited here for Sunday lunch with a group of 4 others. Service was attentive and friendly without being over the top. Really quick as well despite being busy. Food ticked all boxes across all 6 guests. Sunday dinner (3 meats) is brilliant! Beef a little tough, but I do get that's down to choice. Lots of drinks to choose from, albeit rather pricey (as are all Greene Kings), still went down well! The setting is beautiful & we cannot wait to go back and sit outside in the summer.

Lovely meal here last weekend, great food and service by Harry. We were very well looked after!! Food came very quick and was delicious, we will definitely be returning!

Very nice food, but was put off by a waitress who was constantly sniffing whilst taking the order and was surprised by the minimal choice of both vegetarian dishes and non alcoholic drinks available for a venue that has to be driven to. Was nice to have an open fire, but even so the building was still quite cold inside. Okay for a change but won't be rushing back.

Food was good but not amazing, £75 for 3 mains and a starter plus 4 drinks I expected a bit better quality to he honest

The lunch here is absolutely stunning and the pub in general is lovely (one of my favourites). Richard was extremely accommodating and so kind to us and our daughter. Really enjoyed it!

Booked in and was pleased too get in on valentines day..our 5 th visit in s calendar year amd this morning iv woken up with an upset stomach and so has my partner..the 3 course set meal was rushed..the starter belly pork thou very tasty in hindsight was under cooked no cracking just very fatty..no happy at all for what we paid

This place is gorgeous inside - modern and quirky ( just like the managers shirt ), clean tidy and well looked after Staff are polite and well trained in customer service, food is tasty and worth the money . All staff make an effort and it made our evening relaxed and enjoyable

Went here for the first time last night 4/02 and i had caramelised rum pork belly and OMG it was beautiful. Falls towards the sweet side but just enough. My other half and little boy both had steak and this was just as nice. Pudding we had sticky toffee and Bakewell tart, just lovely.
