Sorry we were in this afternoon and sat near the bar the guy (bar person)who was serving apologised and reserved the guy with a new drink replaced and free of charge as would be expected the wife kicked off unhappy with the outcome

We are fairly regular visitors and decided yesterday to pop in and have a drink. My husband found a cigarette paper floating in his pint (he doesn’t smoke). He returned it immediately to the gentleman behind the bar who took it off him poured him a fresh pint and moved onto the next customer. We were absolutely shocked that there was no apology in fact no words at all he just picked up the paper threw it in the bin and poured the rest of the pint away!! We decided not to finish our drinks and left and sadly won’t be returning. I appreciate things happen but it’s how it is dealt with that really counts. Customer care at its worst…. Very disappointing.

An amazing, friendly country pub! We visited on new year's eve and had a great time. The staff were welcoming and happy to help and the pub itself had a lovely cosy countryside vibe. The bar was so varied with all the best ales on tap- I'd definitely be recommend a visit. Although we didn't eat there the food looked incredible too!

Though the pub was not busy. The staff member who served us was polite and friendly Food was very good. You get plenty food if you choose the two course lite bite menu. Always have to take dessert away with me. Very good all round

Lovely atmosphere. Staff were so friendly. Service was spot on. My veggie salad was amazing. Huge. Couldn't finish it, it was a big bowl.

There were 57 of us on a xmas due the meal was wonderful the service was prompt we had a lovely evening. Thanku Little John you did yourselves proud.

We have just had the pleasure of a quiet midweek treat from the Xmas Fayre menu - the meal was perfection. Our compliments to the chef and all the staff for one of the best meals we've ever had in any pub or restaurant - it really was that good.

Not been to The little John for about 5 years. Booked here for a meal with friends, whilst we were in Nottinghamshire. Service was excellent, Me and my husband had the prawn and mussel tagliatelle, which was lovely. Desserts were excellent to. Lovely atmosphere.

No idea about the rooms, but based on the rest of the pub, they'd be good. Lovely menu, loads of GF options, wonderful staff who dealt with 13 of us rocking up unbooked, and ferried all our food outside for us. A really lovely way to spend an afternoon :)

A brilliant dog friendly place to go for food and drinks. There’s even a doggy meal available sausage/chicken veg mash and gravy she loved it I had lamb and mint pie and it was delicious 🤤

Went for a meal mid week, which was a perfect time, nice and quiet in the restaurant area. Our meals were freshly prepared to order wonderfully tasty. My creme brulee came with a cinnamon shortbread , which was a nice touch, the flavour was delicate and delicious.

Had a wonderful family meal here plus our 2 dogs. Really fantastic food and they even have a doggie menu which was really sweet. Special mention to Daisy our server who was so friendly and polite. Would highly recommend a visit.

I've never been to a place where a restaurant refuses to provide a bill for each couple. The feisty manageress or whoever she is, made us all get our phone calculators out and have a 20 minute maths session whilst we worked out who had what. To top it off those who had cash stood in the queue to pay at the till only to be told those who had cash had to wait until he card payers had paid. So, we won't be returning as we've never seen such a farce. I've seen less silliness in an old mother hubbard sketch. Laurel & Hardy could run a place better these comedians. At he end the manageress had the cheek to say we were a pound short! Well that's what you get when you missed maths class at school and can't be bothered to do your job. As Anne Robinson used to say, you are the weakest link. Goodbye!

Been to little John before and it’s always great, went today and OMG was the food and service amazing. My partner had gammon (she’s eaten a lot of gammon in other restaurants), when asked to rate it.. a resounding best she’s ever had! I had a special from the chef and boy was it special! Rated 110% a must visit!

If you want something special, then look no further. As this place will tick all the boxes. With its friendly staff. Fantastic food and great selection of drinks, be it alcoholic or a nice soft drink. Nice decor and lots of seating. With a massive car park outside with scenic views of there private land, which is grassed. This place is great. I highly recommend this place for any occasion.

A lovely pub on the outskirts of Ravenshead and on the edge of lovely countryside with a great outside area for walkers and dogs. The waiter on duty in the restaurant was welcoming, polite and attentive. The food was delicious!!! The squid starter was the best I'd had in a long time. The pub and restaurant was clean, well kept and, despite being quiet (it was a Monday evening) had a lovely atmosphere. We will most definitely be returning and highly recommend a visit

Great service from the lady seating everyone on arrival which was during a busy Saturday lunchtime with 2 large tables for Birthday parties and a lots of other customers wanting to eat before the Woodland Disco Festival at Newstead Abbey. We were seated quite quickly and although there was a half hour wait on food it really wasn’t that long. The Butternut squash salad was delicious as was the HUGE Portion of Fresh Fish and chips.

Service a little lacking. Food overpriced - 16.95 for a spicy chicken burger & chips. No side salad either 😞

Very nice place with a nice relaxing atmosphere. Great service and friendly staff. I had the Tie style fish cakes starter and the pan fried salmon main. Every bit of it was lovely and delicious. I especially liked the fish cakes. And the tiramisu was beautiful. I will definitely be going back again.

We had a lovely evening. It is in a beautiful spot. The staff are so helpful. Helped me to know what I could eat with my allergies. I was made to feel special not a nuisance which I often feel at other eating establishments. Wish I lived nearer so you could be my local. Will come again. Thank you

No matter the day or time the food from the kitchen is always first class ( the Sunday lunch is excellent) and the front of house team from the bar staff to waiters all work as a team to give a good experience. Well done

Lovely local with very welcoming friendly staff members. The food is delicious and the management take the time to chat to you and make sure everything is ok. Came with a large group on Christmas eve and nothing was too much trouble. And again with my inlaws when they were over.

I have been coming to The Little John pub and restaurant occasionally for a few years now, more regularly recently, and have enjoyed Christmas meals, Sunday lunches, evening meals and thd quiz at this very lovely pub. The staff are always friendly and welcoming and the food is great quality. I will be back for the Monday quiz soon.

Sadly this was the worst pub we ate at on our UK trip. The whole family felt sick afterwards. Chicken was dry, the fish dish was overcooked. The waiter was a friendly guy - that's why two stars. We wouldn't recommend it and we wouldn't return

A fab place to generally be Wow, we went as a group for Sunday Lunch and I have to say its one of the best I have had locally for a long time. One of our group had an allergy and that was catered for. The gravy was perfect. Its so hard to get a decent Sunday Lunch. Well done we will be back

I used to manage the quiz night at the Little John on a Tuesday evening and we built a good number of teams who enjoyed playing. However pub management decided to change to. a Monday evening, which is their prerogative, and this decision did not go down well with the quiz regulars , to the point we only had four teams this evening.. We also run a card game called Sticky 13, which had a jackpot of £320 and tonight they would not let us play this card game. Why I do not know, we were allowed to do the quiz but not Sticky 13. As custodian of the quiz I asked them for the Jackpot monies and they refused to hand this over. I was stunned to say the least, the monies belong to the quiz players who contributed into it. The monies certainly doesn’t belong to the Little John as this was only a venue used by myself to hold the quiz. They know this and until they refund the jackpot cash I will look to take this further. Decided to switch up where I meet friends for food and a catch-up. I'm certainly glad we decided to try this place. Great selection of starters and mains. The food was very well presented and tasted great. Lots of dishes you won't find on a typical pub menu and great for trying something new or different. Hopefully by the time you read this, Google will have updated the map location. Currently, it takes you about half a mile down the road. I'll certainly be visiting again, hopefully taking my partner out for something to try. Very relaxed atmosphere, and for us, it was perfectly balanced of not being too busy or too quiet.

I've been here a couple of times and have always enjoyed the food! Customer service has been better on some days than others. But overall, pleasant staff. Gluten Free options on the main menu could do with some tweeking, more options available on lunchtime specials than the actual main menu.

Well I was shocked, last time we came everything was excellent. But yesterday myself, wife, & our 2 children came to celebrate my birthday. It was Disgusting, my wife and I had The meat pie. Horrible. Our children's chicken curry and rice. Was curry sauce in a separate jug, rice on the plate. Alongside which you could tell from the flat shaped chicken. It was What looked like Turkey Dinosaurs. Never ever would I think of going back there again.

Visited last night for an event & was so impressed with the quality of food & the wonderful service we received. We will definitely be returning as other people sat near us raved about the Sunday lunches. Lovely location, nice decor on top of everything else so this place is definitely worth a visit - nice independent business

Absolutely beautiful.... ❤️ A lovely pub in the middle of the beautiful countryside with a great area for walkers and dogs. The Staff were welcoming, polite and couldn't do enough for you. The Food was delicious!!! Oh my goodness, I feel like it's so hard now days to find a fresh homemade roast dinner, safe to say I KNOW we have found one. The pub was clean, well kept and had a lovely atmosphere. We would most definitely be returning and highly recommend a visit.

Perfectly situated for a good walk, so much countryside around even though it’s on a busy main road. Plenty of outdoor seating and area for you to exercise your dog. Nice and spacious inside very clean, nice decor, well laid out, the tables aren’t on top of each other. Clean, bright and airy ladies room. Friendly staff, make you feel welcome straight away, great service, food top notch, so filling and nicely presented. I didn’t take a pic of the soup or the cheesecake, but both were delicious; the Gammon was a good size and home made chips 👍; the tomato and courgette lasagne was delicious and very filling, served with garlic bread. Little John Inn, definitely worth a visit 👍

just eaten a steak at little John Ravenshead I ordered well done steak it arrived raw so I sent it back they served me with a fresh steak which was also raw so I ended up paying for a meal I could not unacceptable

Well on arrival my wife and I went and ordered 2 tea's and went and sat in the Snug before we had our lunch. Relaxing in the big chairs. Absolutely lovely energetic staff always on hand to help. It's a big pub with a Bar, Snug, Reception, and a Restaurant. And the Bar and Snug are dog friendly. Lovely garden with several areas undercover. And a big car park It certainly looks and feels like the place to be in the area, cannot fault it

NOT GREAT, firstly waited almost 5 minutes to be seen to after entering, no members of staff to be seen. Booked via email and received confirmation back of booking to be told that we have no booking? Seated at a table, menus issued, completely different menu to the website and Facebook page. Meal was not as described on the menu. No follow up check into the meal. When asked was everything ok during the collection of the plates we informed the waiter, just a mumble of sorry, no questions asked why?? Disappointed

Kids meals, where very good value 👌 Lunch time menu is good value 😋 just a bit dispointing when a menu says seasonal vegetables served with your meal and you just get peas and to be charged for a full price side portion of fries in place of the salad on the lasagne is a bit bad( maybe just an up charge so half the price) my wife had pie and chips, the chips had a strange taste to them(not there fault prob just the type of potato, not what they had been cooked in) also her meat in the pie was tough (i tried it),however my pie was delicous. My own overall experience was good I would happily visit again.

We came when the pub had recently been taken over by new management and had an excellent meal. We came back on boxing day with the same expectation but unfortunately feel the quality of food has gone down. We were given the main menu and not the Christmas menu as we were told on booking, but just picked from main as assumed things had changed. The table next to us then were given food from the Christmas menu?! Burger served without onion rings and salad, mentioned to staff when asked if everything okay and nothing done, no apology or reflection on the bill. Was told they have a new chef on and he must have forgot... Paid our bill as we are not people to kick up a fuss but feel the situation could have been dealt with better. Hopefully will return in the future and have better experience.

Servers were trying their hardest very good effort, place was nice and the environment was good. Issue was the drunk middle class locals hitting on my wife at the bar, grabbing her arm whilst trying to pay for our meal, people bringing their dogs to my 14 month old son even though he was clearly upset and didn’t want to touch or play with the animal and the hysterical very drunk, obnoxiously loud and the rude people in there, which sadly, respectfully, means I won’t return. Nice meal but £17 for new potatoes and a piece of sea bass to have to share my peas between three meals was overpriced.

There was a bit of a wait on food but it was OK but there was not busy as what I could see as to the reason for the delay in ordering it and it getting g to the table it would appear there was only one person as to whom was taken orders and serving and waiting on the tables at the time a bit much for one person to deal with I think

Really poor Xmas day meal. Food average. Table badly placed next to toilet and room cramped I was almost knocked out of my seat by a lady making her way past me. The service was poor and rushed. Quite honestly, we will never go there again. My wife wrote to them privately and never received a reply

Was such a lovely place to eat and visit under the new management but sadly quality & service has dropped significantly.

Atrocious service! Shocking food. Where do i start? 25 people for xmas dinner…. 2k spent by the whole party. They made a mess of the timings by 1 hour at least. The tables were cramped, we were shoved in like animals. The service was also awful. They served food with missing items i.e. no sauces on the table (mint/apple sauce/cranberry) with our dinner and the plates of undercooked leeks were late. We were missing Yorkshires and apparently they don't serve these with the turkey, but the menu states beef or turkey with all the trimmings. Additionally the tables were left with glasses on all night long. We were also missing items such as petit fours and the mince pies were out of a packet would you believe, the cheapest ones. Would you expect this for 80pp(adult)? Tea & coffee was served with no tea spoons and saucers, we used knifes to remove the tea bag and mix the sugar. The roast potatoes tasted stale and old, they were awful as was the quality of the potato's used. The rude lady serving us couldn't muster an apology all night, they were just happy to take our money. There was also no butter with bread for starter, such as soup. The menu stated roast beef and horse radish yorkshire for appetisers, but it was minced beef! Shocking robbing liars! The place was over crowded and maybe a few did enjoy it but most didn’t. Maybe they are under staffed it seems or alternatively just poor management. I would never go here again and wouldn’t recommend, it was truly shocking. Its also worth noting that the table was booked for 4pm and we arrived at 3.20, we had our dinner at 5.40(main) and left at 7.30 due to delays between meals and the 1st failed attempt at seating us, which further indicates towards bad management. It did ruin the Christmas dinner for most and I hope someone decent takes over and the head chef needs sacking along with a review of the management of waiters/staff. In response to the comments below, the 5 Yorkshires you bought out were inedible, cold and cremated. Serving butter with the bread for the soup is basics, you would find this in restaurants serving a higher quality food then your selves, as for the mention of a school canteen your toilets mirror that of a public toilet in a council park, you should maybe self reflect first.

The Little John is our local and we went yesterday to have our Christmas meal. There was 9 of us altogether. It was a lovely atmosphere and the staff were brilliant as always. All courses of our meal were hot, fresh and plentiful. You took the stress out of my day as I wasn’t cooking and had a year off 😀 Thank you, you were all fab and I will definitely recommend to all my friends and family 🎄

Booked for Christmas dinner 2023, we arrived and had a drink before being shown to our table. All of the staff were amazing, nothing was too much trouble. Food, delicious and plentiful and the homemade desserts amazing. Would definitely recommend and will definitely be back - thank you

The place is stunning, old country style pub with a beautiful wood fire place. The staff are incredible and polite, the parking at the side was great but slipper as would be expected with snow.

Meal out for husbands birthday with daughter and partner plus dog. Had two fish and chips and two lasagne. All meals very tasty and filling. Dog had sausage and devoured it.
