The Lambley in Gedling

First time visitor. What a great Sunday lunch we had! Party of seven, and literally every one of us agreed the food was excellent. Meat cooked to perfection for everyone's different tastes, delicious vegetables, and the roasties with truffle and parmesan so good! 🤤 Staff were really friendly and helpful, the decor great, and really good value. That definitely won't be the last time we visit the Lambley!

Baffled as to how many people on here are commenting on the food being good. I found the roast to be very bland with a measley portion, especially for £21. Only getting one carrot was particularly hilarious. Will definitely never come back for a roast. Ordered a kids cheeseburger too and it was awful. Nice staff and atmosphere though.

Been in before and not eaten, all I can say is wow, great food (marmite shredded beef starter) was great and the belly pork was just as nice, great friendly staff nice atmosphere, will definitely be coming back

Attended a wedding reception here last week. What a hidden gem this place is. The service and staff were impeccable. Food was to die for and the venue was just perfect. Lovely night had by all.

Service was excellent, and the staff could not do enough for us for example we asked about the glasses and how muck we loved them the manager went on line to find where we could get them from. The lovely lady who read out the menu like it was a M&S advertisement was so nice to us, nothing was to much trouble, can't fault it at all. Hope to pop round again in the not too distant future.

We have just held our wedding reception at this beautiful location. Olly and the team are so easy to work with and really did us proud. The bar staff and management are super friendly and welcoming. They let us decorate, have a DJ and the food they served was absolutely amazing. I highly recommend popping down to see them to book your wedding reception. Massive thank you once again to all the chefs, bar staff and management for hosting such a beautiful evening for us. Mel & Bayels

Lovely meal, staff very pleasant and helpful

Not a great experience. We love the Railway and so thought this place owned by the Secret Pub Company would also be great. Unfortunately upon arriving half the cask ales were rancid and a 3rd option hadn’t been pulled through by 2pm. I was also served a taster in a glass covered with pink lipstick. The plates and cutlery were grubby when we were served, it doesn’t take much to give them a brief polish or wipe the plates before serving. Food was average, won’t be returning. If you like there to be some attention to detail where you eat then give this a miss.

I didn't eat there just met friends for coffee however the venue looked clean tidy, staff well dressed and ready to help.

Sunday lunch for family, one vegetarian & one well behaved dog! We were given a table in the bar area & food & drinks were all lovely..just knocked off one star as the service was very slow(realise it was a busy Sunday) and at one point the lovely girl on the bar was hunting for clean glasses! However with a couple of much needed extra staff Sun lunch would def be 5 star..and we will def be back..

The staff were lovely, and the service was great. The food was very good, but some portion sizes to small and inconsistent for the prices charged. For example, 8 chips per meal!

Did not have food, just drinks have to say the outside areas are very nice seating on two levels. Staff very friendly. Nice clean toilets well stocked bar we shall be back thanks M&J

A limited menu which normally is ok as it can be a tedious trying to choose from lots of options however, I don’t eat meat so unless I wanted a Cauliflower Bhaji the only other option was a halloumi burger or fish and chips. Starters my choice was carrot and orange soup 🥴 or a soufflé. So I had bread and hummus with a side of what was described as a rocket and Parmesan salad and it was very disappointing and not great for a nice evening meal out with friends. I asked if I could have a salad made up (not a salad in sight on the menu for summer??) and was told “no sorry” Sadly won’t be going back unless the menu changes according to the season. Not everyone wants soup or soufflé or curry cauliflower on a lovely warm summers evening. I found it really strange that there wasn’t even one salad offered? The fish also covered a measly portion of chips for a male person with us, with a big appetite. He’d also ordered a side dish of broccoli and nuts thinking it perhaps came in a sauce or something a little more adventurous but alas it was just as described…. Boiled plain broccoli and nuts (that just fell off into the dish) which had no point or business being on top of broccoli 😂😂 it did make us laugh though. The steak that came out that friends ordered was cold and had to be sent back

Disappointed. Previous visits to The Lambley have always been great. Unfortunately not this time. The dish ordered (mussels) was bland, tasteless and not a described; under cooked egg noodles not spaghetti. Service were completely preoccupied setting up for a garden party. Missed the need for a spoon (for the noodles), then the bowl for the mussel shells. Gave polite feedback to the chef and asked a question. Nothing back, not even an acknowledgement when I was paying. We won’t be going back in a hurry.

Right from the start nothing appeared to be too much trouble for the staff at this ‘proper’ village pub. Nicely situated in a country backwater,they offered to rearrange the covering of the outdoor eating area to make the most of a light breeze on the hot day we were there. Fish is the difference over local competitors. Although not a seafood restaurant as such, the menu regularly features surprising choice thanks to daily deliveries from distant coastal suppliers. As well as the ubiquitous (but rarely this good! ) haddock and chips, crab and lobster were the day’s specials , with an impressive looking plateau de fruits de mar for ordering in advance. A pleasing discovery in July and probably just as welcome in midwinter.

£17 for a burger and chips, I was expecting something spectacular for that price point but it was a middle of the road burger. Staff were nice and polite. But its damn expensive for what it is 😕

Group of us went down to watch the England game. Staff were brilliant as there were a few more of us than expected but they managed to move a few things about. Had a couple of burgers which were also lovely! Will be coming back for the semi finals!

I was keen to try The Lambley again after it re-opened. It was OK but not amazing. I ordered seafood linguine and was a served a bowl of noodles with no apology or explanation. It was tasty and the seafood was OK. My desert was great - a really light passion fruit tart - home baked and delicious Service was a bit slow

First time visit and was extremely impressed. Although there were only a few other customer’s with it being early lunchtime it had a lovely atmosphere with excellent food and staff. We will definitely visit again.

We had a lovely time this evening. Amazing service and delicious food. Definitely recommend focaccia and garlic infused hummus. And ....... Roast cod with leeks, mussels and patas bravas. Fish and chips also enjoyed. Dessert was amazing, passion fruit tart with a tarragon creme fraiche. I like this pub/restaurant and will definitely return. thank you for a lovely evening.

Food was lovely little expensive but it was nice

13 of us went for my father-in-law's 90th . Had a great time,staff nice and friendly and very helpful. Thank you. Food was good,but was really all about my father in law and him having his family around him ❤️❤️

A great evening celebrating my dad's 70th birthday. Fantastic service and food. Table booked for 7:30 left at 10pm. Highly recommend for a visit and I recommend the black pudding sausage roll. OMG!

Worst place to eat and unfortunately there’s only one place which is in the village where I had the expectation of having food. Forget about the food the staff lacks basic manners and treat someone from a different country completely different. Worst place ever I had visited in my whole life never thought places and people like this still exist. The manager is so reluctant and careless he took bill off and never cared to apologise for the worst quality food served and instead was smiling when I leave. May be the owners train them to behave like this to keep up the money without serving the goods. Suggestion to the owners: Please leave a board out side your restaurant stating who aren’t allowed so people would stop coming to get insulted on face. Such disgusting place.

Went to the lambley today for lunch (8 of us). Staff were lovely and very attentive / great ambience and the food was delicious and beautifully presented . It’s such an improvement to his ut used to be - definitely will return. Thank you.

This is a lovely village pub. The staff are friendly and happy to help. And it's Dog friendly which is a real bonus for us. I can't comment on the food as we've not eaten here yet.

Fab pub, food is excellent and there’s a very warm atmosphere. There’s a great singer on covering modern pop songs tonight (Friday). Also some lovely walks round the corner.

Very enjoyable meal for Mother's Day. The food was really nice and the seat by the window was very cosy. A great pub setting with good servce too.

We had a fabulous meal & service. Excellent wine and a must to try has got to be the Rose Nyetimber Sparkling English Bubbles.... delicious. Thank you Ollie for making us so welcome 🙂

Good choice of dishes on the menu which were presented well and the mains served on hot plates. The food was hot and very tasty which was echoed by the family as we all had different meals. I felt the desserts were over priced. The staff were lovely and attentive, the restaurant was quiet but it was Monday and so lacked atmosphere. Will definitely return and it's nice to see The Lambley open again.

First visit with friends since it re-opened under new management. Staff were very friendly and helpful, and the food we had was good, but not as great as it has been under past management. I have to make comment on the wine as the Merlot we had was £24, which is available to buy on the high street for £8. My favourite is the Mendoza "Malbec", but at £40 per bottle, sorry but your having a laugh. And as I'm not a "dog friendly restaurant" person, I don't think we will be rushing back for more. But I wish the new owners all the best. Once they realise that high prices does not mean high quality, I'm sure things will improve.

Had the posh fish finger sandwich and hubby had the mini fish and chips. Really tasty and wonderful service. Highly recommend.

Don't go Sunday evening if you you want a relaxing evening, last orders for food 6 o clock last orders 8 o'clock for drinks don't call yourself a public house , a joke. First time, LAST TIME. SHAME!!!

Family meal to celebrate new job..excellent quality food. The sea bream was delicious, venison shepherd's pie very nice but portion was a little small for husband. Be advised they do allow dogs in the bar area, doggy treats on bar, but they ask that you phone if possible prior to coming as I assume they don't want too many dogs. Would highly recommend it

Group of five of us had midweek lunch here as a walk-in. We were warmly greeted and given s sunny table and were quickly offered refreshments which arrived promptly. Menu choice was very varied and we all picked main courses. Food arrived in a timely manner and was extremely well presented and was delicious. Fish and chips was glorious with crunchy tartare sauce and great chunky chips. The pasta and risotto were also well received and all was devoured! Coffee was also excellent. Great table service from Kieran who was polite and friendly and made the experience most enjoyable. Will definitely return. Lovely atmosphere, clean toilets and pleasant staff.

Food very average. Typical Bistro pub menu. Luckily it was % off January so it was slightly cheaper otherwise it was expensive for what you are served.

Family get together on christmas eve. 9 of us in total and we all enjoyed our food. Excellent produce and great service. Variety of drinks available. Nice restaurant to visit if you are celebrating .

I visited here for Sunday dinner, after previously coming here years ago. Very impressed with the makeover, the pub now has a great atmosphere. I had the pork belly, as this is my go-to choice whenever available. It was pretty decent, with the usual accompaniments hitting the spot nicely. The pub does seem to have a poltergeist though. At one point during the meal, a family members pint of cider seemed to leap off the table of it's own accord, with no one near it. The manager kindly agreed to take it off the bill though. Apart from that, a cracking afternoon all round.

Woww what a turnaround clearly under new ownership the food is divine and the service to match. Will definitely start to return here regularly.

Visited with a group of friends for the Christmas menu, vegetables were raw on the turkey Christmas Dinner (sprouts, brocoli & green beans), would need to improve for me to return

Second time at The Lambley, we had Sunday lunch. The main was lovely but the side of Mashed potatoes was tepid. We told the host and he took them off of the bill,however my wife asked for Bread sauce but the server brought my wife some Brown Sauce ( with Sunday lunch ? ) We got the bread sauce and the dinner was lovely . We had Kaffir Lime Panna Cota but we couldn't taste the Lime. It was good ,but could have been SO much better for the price. Ok ,but a little underwhelmed.

Not been to the Lambley for a while & now we're there for a meal twice this week! Reopened & serving great food at good prices. A quality menu & service to compliment it. Polite, friendly & at a pace that suits the diner, making the whole experience a delight. We'll be back.

Lovely evening for the Christmas Light Switch on at The Lambley Public House. Very busy & great atmosphere. All the staff went above & beyond to ensure all enjoyed the festivities. The front of house were very welcoming, special mention to Katie even under extreme pressure she took the time to introduce herself and show us around, all on offer. Kieran too was super friendly & the gentleman on BBQ (Brad) was excellent serving the best burgers & mulled wine. Thank you all for a fab evening. I can see this becoming our local.

We came in for our anniversary on a recommendation. Firstly the service was incredible, I called to move the table forward an hour and no problems at all. We took our 17 year old dog in with us, and he got so much attention from the staff all so friendly. The roasts were both delicious, we both had the beef which was cooked to perfection and I asked for bread sauce with mine which was no problem at all. The veg was great and Yorkshire puddings were lovely. The Atmosphere was great. I would defo recommend and would come again especially for the roasts.

We had a roast here today absolutely lush, great service and atmosphere too will definitely be back, totally recommend the apple and raspberry crumble . Unfortunately didn’t get a pic of the dessert we were too busy eating it ☺️

Was a bit put off when we walked in and saw the bar tender in the kitchen eating straight out of a tray of roast potatoes with his fingers!!. Not the chef.

First time back in this restaurant for many years. New owners with clearly a new vision for good quality food. We only had sandwiches - but never had chicken breast sandwich with curry mayonnaise and mango quite so tastefully done ! Chips fabulous ♥️. And a good price too ! Defo a win / win and I will be back !

Had a great lunchtime meal with 33 u3a members . The food was delicious and the presentation wonderful . Kieran and his staff gave excellent service to all 33 of us . Would recommend The Lambley for lunchtime /evening groups as all went very smoothly indeed .

Delicious Sunday Beef roast. Perfectly cooked beautiful tender beef with accompanying veg and a Yorkshire pudding. Ordered a side portion of cauliflower cheese to share which served four of us. Good service and a decent Rioja wine. Very enjoyable Sunday afternoon meal.

Nice setting, but menu choices were very limited. Only 1 person out of our group of 7 had a Starter, and 2 didn't have a sweet because there wasn't a suitable choice on the menu. Overall the quality of the food was very average and fairly overpriced. The staff were not knowledgeable about what menu items at all.

Visited for Sunday lunch and can honestly say, we will not be returning. Vegetables were near enough raw, roast potatoes were dry and seemed to be reheated and a roasted red onion a Sunday lunch. £16.95 for a chicken dinner that doesn’t come with mash that is £4.95 extra which they had ran out of and £6.50 for cauliflower cheese. We spoke to another couple when leaving who also said they had the same experience as us. The place is lovely but the price they charged was not of good quality.

Over priced and over rated poor customer service there are far better places to eat in the area. This is not one of them.

Booked a table of 8 for 12:30 however explained people would arrive at 12 to set table up and wait as a surprise. My parents (who the surprise was for) arrived at 12:45 so was 15mins late due to road works and nearly having a car crash. A man (I assume manager) come over and said that we can’t have the table for long as we were booked in at 12. However the booking was booked for 12:30. Slightly rude when we are a table of 8 paying the prices they charge you’d think they’d honour their customers! After we had mains we asked to look at the desert menu however the same man came over to us and said we had to leave as they needed the table!!! So we paid up, left no tip and got desert and other drinks from elsewhere. Food we had (starters & mains) were lovely. But the welcoming or lack of it and the staff were rude and we felt rushed off our table and our the door!

Popped in for lunch, this was our first visit. Staff were friendly and welcoming, I had the flat iron steak which was very nice and wife had the Halloumi burger which looked really good. Will definitely be returning

Unfortunately, our first visit was to attend a wake, but nevertheless, the food was well presented, and plenty of it, the young lady serving, was pleasant and attentive. The atmosphere was what you'd expect at a wake. Will visit again on a more social occasion.

We went for Sunday lunch and had a roast beef and a roast chicken. Both were excellent. Coconut and Pineapple Panecotta to share for dessert which was also delicious. We have already planned our next visit!

We were made welcome when we walked in. The staff were friendly, the service was good. I had salmon for my main course and thoroughly enjoyed it. Would happily go back there again.
