Booked for lunch for 2 and was surprised when entering a seemingly deserted place (no customers). Shown to the table of our choice. I ordered pulled pork terrine with onion relish and sourdough toast - absolutely delicious (might have preferred thinner slices of toast). For the main I ordered beer battered cod sandwich with fries and a portion of curry sauce. Fries were excellent, as was the cod sandwich (comprised of 2 cod pieces in batter with mayonnaise and a bed of minted peas all in a brioche bun). Too much to eat but excellent cooking.

On arrival we asked if the roast beef is served rare and was informed that it is as we had previously visited the pub before and the beef didnt appear to be freshly carved or even slightly rare , in fact maybe vacuum packed or pre prepared as we overheard another Diner feeling dissapointed that the beef wasnt indeed freshly served.however we decided to try it again because of the ambience and general good service from the younger members of staff, unfortunately when the beef arrived it was again not carved from a fresh joint and clearly not rare as requested.when we asked it to be changed the waiter advised us that they infact had run out of beef approx 3.30 sunday pm,and to our suprise at 4.30 we saw what appreared to be beef coming out of the kitchen at a more favorable quality i.e looking like a roast joint of beef and not the vacuum packed type that we experienced.when we talked to the duty manager about the issue she said she didnt know if they had infact had run out of beef because she hadnt been in the kitchen.i find it both dissapointing and underhand as to what we were served and then what we were told. Im of the opinion that the good stuff is reserved for the locals and the pre processed beef is for the visiting strangers. I think ill stick to the nearby chequers pub from now on, at least they can prepare roast beef how you request it.wnt be going back anytime soon

Looking for a village pub for lunch we found this lovely place. With an excellent lunchtime menu of slightly smaller portions (although these were definitely not small but perfectly sized). We had the fish and chips and the chicken schnitzel, both were excellent. Great waiting staff and a very reasonable bill for lunch made for a top rating.

What a gem! We hadn’t originally planned to visit this pub, but we are so pleased we did. Walking in we were surprised at what lovely decor and such a homely feel. Delightful colours on the wall, woodwork and a really lovely little bar. Food was delicious. Accessibility was perfect for my disabled wife who needs extra space to manoeuvre around from her wheelchair to the seating area. We loved every bit of this!

Lovely mid afternoon lunch after walking the dog around Denton reservoir. Friendly staff, nice decor and great food. We had the sharing baked Camembert followed by Monkfish Scampi and The Welby burger all served with home cooked chips, salad and homemade slaw. Very nice, we will be back. Update May2024. Still going strong, built a great reputation locally since opening 2 years ago. Great atmosphere and the Sunday lunch is highly recommended. See pic, the plates are oversize, no banana available for size comparison 😂. Nice touch having roast beetroot with the Roast beef. Staff are excellent, I would not hesitate in recommending this place, also much better value than the Tap and Run.

My soy salmon and pak choi dish was one of the tastiest meals out I've had in ages, while everyone else enjoyed their fish and chips and chocolate orange cheesecake. Lovely warm atmosphere too - lots of locals down for a drink and a chat - with non-intrusive music and a cosy fire. My Dad loves 'proper' pubs and this excels. Having only just found this gem, myself/Dad have been twice in the last month and cannot rate it highly enough. The food is excellent (certainly beyond pub grub), the staff are welcoming and engaging and the atmosphere is homely and vibrant. I cannot recommend this place enough and it is always busy meaning others must feel the same way. Thanks to the staff, particularly Lorna and John. We'll be back soon

Stopped for an early dinner and a couple of drinks - large pub, plenty of parking, very friendly staff and plenty of people enjoying themselves. I had gammon and chips and my mother had scampi. I would eat here again if up in Nottingham.

We had stopped going owing to the menu changing and cleanliness of the place. Went back yesterday and it was a pleasant experience the waiter called George was very nice..polite helpful and smart appearance all good. Chips could have been hotter but we will be definitely be returning on the understanding George serves us ..

Just changed hand I found out. Was amazing food before. Now salty cottage pie with tinned veg and spongy frozen broccoli 🤮
