My son and I enjoyed a light lunch here today. The food was delicious and the service was welcoming and friendly. As an independent cafe, the food quality was great and some different menu choices that set them apart. They also have a deli and lots of unusual food treats that you can't get hold of easily elsewhere. They would make nice little gifts for foodies. I would highly recommend this lovely cafe.

Our friend is using this restaurant a lot so we went there for lunch with him. He and my wife had the Swedish meatballs and I had the sea bass with pesto sauce. The meals came with vegetables and we followed with a variety of deserts. The regimented table layout is a bit unimaginative but for a neighbourhood restaurant with deli it was very good. With mains and deserts the bill came to £66.05 for three.

Superb service and delicious food (both in the bistro and the deli) at this independent, family run business. Have visited several times now and have always received a warm welcome and served wonderful food. The product range on offer in the deli is impressive (the olives are to die for!) and I particularly enjoyed the cooked breakfast. We will be sure to re-visit on a regular basis! Thoroughly recommended.

Great little gem of a place that really wasn’t what we were expecting! We popped into this cafe to grab some super quick lunch whilst passing through. We had the sharing vegetarian platter and a ham and cheese Panini. Both were well beyond expectations. Very delicious. Good value as well, I’d highly recommend stopping by. The only suggestion we’d make was that they put some background music on, it was a little bit of an unusual atmosphere in there and I feel some chilled music would make a huge difference!

If you ever have the opportunity don't miss this gem of a cafe. It's so much more than a cafe and the menu seems simple with a few twists but each and every dish is perfectly prepared, cooked, delicious and so kindly served. Today I was introduced to Cullen Skink.... a type of smoked haddock soup and it was the very best soup if you like fish ....and I do. I could have greedily had two bowls! Sam, chef was so kind and came to talk to me about its origins and preparation.....Sam I cannot tell you how utterly delicious your Cullen Skink is thank you so much, you know why! Thank you for the kind, thoughtful ways you and your staff have, my older friends speak so highly of you all and I so agree with them. Don't miss eating here if you are near Stoke Bishop as I was today.

Met friends for a midweek catch-up, and having eat here before, knew we would enjoy our meal. They have an offer of 2courses for £12. Started with a main course Mezze, which was interesting, tasty, and well presented. The Baileys cheesecake for dessert is beautiful and moorish. The atmosphere is fine, though I don't think it would suit a very special occasion, or a romantic date, but the service is good, and for my needs, on this occasion, suited very well. Stopped in for an early lunch yesterday and were very impressed by the food and the prices, as well as the deli, which had fresh organic bread and other organic produce. We were there with our 20-month-old daughter, and the staff were really helpful, rushing to make hers for her before ours as she was clearly impatient to start eating. And her houmous sandwich was just what she needed. I had a tuna sandwich for £3.95 and I can't remember the last time I saw so much tuna between two slices of bread, with a generous side salad and tasty balsamic dressing. We only popped in to fill some time before visiting friends, but will definitely be going back!

This has a high quality food counter with a great deal of 'home made' produce at the front. You can also have a coffee type experience or meals as well in the café which leads on from the shop area. I was 'passing through' the area and Zest was recommended for lunch. I had a beautifully presented meal of pork and apricot casserole with vegetables with a fruit crumble with custard to follow. This was all very good. Light and airy with bright paintings on the walls. Young attentive staff both male and female and everywhere seemed spotless. Will recommend to friends

We popped in a quick lunch and had to sit by the door as the main part involved going down steps and we had already come up steps. The baked potato with chilli was tasty and the bit of my partner's panini with ham and tomato had enough flavour to satisfy our hunger. We don't go up that end of town too often, but might be tempted back as everyone was helpful in getting up and down the steps, just not a windy day as the door kept opening.

Proper cooked lunches, (not the boring paninis etc which so many cafes do) such as salmon with sauce and fresh vegetables, beef bourgignon etc, all the dishes we have tried have been delicious. The breakfast is very good indeed, with sausages and bacon sourced from local area. The coffee is lovely too, and their cakes are impossible to resist. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They also sell deli food which is good quality. One downside, they have lately installed lots of tiny tiny tables to squeeze more people in but the atmosphere is compromised and there is no privacy, we hope they will reverse this situation.

Zest is an uncomplicated restaurant which is open all day for breakfast followed by lunch or, if you prefer, just a cup of tea and a home made cake. The coffee is probably the best in the area.Although it is not licensed a lot of people will bring in a bottle of wine and this can be bought in several nearby shops. I don't think Zest charges corkage but I'm not sure. The menu is essentially British but with some more exotic middle eastern dishes. Heavy emphasis is put upon locally sourced ingredients. The end result is excellent. Particular recommendations include the home-made soups including the frequently available cullen skink(?) or creamy haddock soup. They also do a brilliant bacon sandwich! The staff and owners are lovely- smart and fun.At the front is a small but upmarket deli. which has wonderful ham and will grind coffee for you

Would definitely recommend to anyone. We had a wonderful time here for an anniversary dinner. The food was really good and we enjoyed that we were given time with each dish to finish it before moving on. As they're sharing plates, it was nice to not have several dishes at once. They had run out of the wine we wanted but we're suggested another bottle which was good. Service was great once it was underway, there were 2 large tables finishing as we arrived which took some time to complete.
