Fantastic Sunday lunch. Food was great and service was also excellent

This is a little hidden gem ,but I think it's one of the best steakhouse in Bristol . My fillet steak was cooked perfect and just melted in my mouth . If I could be really picky and had to pick falt It would of been nice to have a mushroom or tomoto with the steak like they used to do . Fantastic though really enjoyed it.

Stayed in the accommodation. Easy check in and shown to room which was small but comfortable. Nice full English breakfast and free parking outside with a permit.

I had the rack of lamb with dauphinoise potatoes and seasonal veg. The lamb was quite dry and tough, the dauphinoise potatoes were overcooked, very dry, hard and so crispy, it was really hard to cut through. The seasonal veg was a couple of pieces of soggy cauliflower and 2 small stalks of asparagus. Unfortunately on this occasion, we were very disappointed. My son had a kids steak which was lovely however, it was covered in way too much black pepper which took away the taste of the steak and made it unenjoyable. Such a shame as we probably won't return again.

5 years ago, just before Covid-19, I celebrated my 50th birthday here. Then, I said it was the best steakhouse I had ever been to. I'm pleased to say that nothing has changed. It is still the best steakhouse I have ever been to. 10/10.

I had high expectations for my visit to this restaurant, as I had heard comparisons to Pasture. Unfortunately, my experience did not meet those expectations. The service was quite disappointing; despite having a reservation for 8 PM on a Friday, our group did not receive our meals until nearly 10 PM. Furthermore, we were instructed by staff to keep the noise level down during what is typically a lively evening. The food was served at different times for each member of our group, and the plates contained minimal portions aside from the steak. Additionally, a side dish I ordered did not arrive at all. It felt as though the restaurant struggled to accommodate large parties effectively. While I understand that we may have visited on an off night, I believe improvements are necessary for handling busy periods. In comparison to Pasture, this establishment fell significantly short of expectations. Based on this experience, I would be hesitant to return in the future.

Food was cooked ansd amazing, service was good, had a great night, only i would say would be the sides of to accompany the Mains, the Steaks comes with a side salad, I would think as you have to order anything else on the side the side salad would be a salad instead it's a small amount of rocket, I think for the price a side of chips ect.. wouldn't to much to ask for,

Visited for a family meal, have eaten here many times in the past. Thought the prices for steak had risen very highly since our last visit and surprised that chips were extra to accompany your meal. Those who ordered steaks said they tasted good although not cooked as requested. Salmon and ribs competitively priced but not tasty. Cheapest wine per bottle, £30 with wine list not including origin. Unfortunately will not be going back in the near future.

Early lunch so it was quiet,hence the low atmosphere. Food was excellent, beer selection very good. Toilets were spotless.

Great steak. Great service. Great Guinness. We will definitely be coming back.

Visited on the 19/10/24. 2 guests had steak they reported was amazing but very disappointed that they had to purchase a portion of chips separately not a tomato or mushroom accompanied the steak this is very poor for a steak that cost £42 each. Other 2 guests had ribs that were suppose to have a barbecue sauce this was congealed and did not look appealing, very strange taste to the sauce and once agin nothing provide with the ribs except a dollop of coleslaw. Ordered sides Mac & cheese do not believe the dish of Mac and cheese is as big or in the advertised dish shown on the website, It was very very small dried up with all the pasta stuck to the bottom and sides Of the dish costing £6., also ordered onion rings four people dinning and served 3 onions rings. Very over priced restaurant and not value for money. Wine really over priced left feeling we had been robbed.

The food was great, being a bit pricey you’d expect good quality food and they delivered. The staff was friendly and was very helpful with every request. The warm lighting set a calming and comfortable environment. In conclusion, had a great experience there :)

Very delicious and well cooked steak at fair prices. The sauces were super tasty. Salad (as part of the wardyboard was tiny although maybe most people don't eat it? I would come again. My first impression and biggest piece of advice to the Ashville is to change your lighting- the place is overlit which means it doesn't have the intimate, relaxing, luxurious ambience that it could. Get some table lighting & side lighting and don't use the overhead lights.

Very overpriced food for a very undercooked food. be prepared to dig deep into your pockets. You pay £27 for the steak and that’s just for the steak chips and everything else that comes as separate And I mean, you have to pay extra for chips, you can only get the wine and a medium glass and that will set you back £9 for something out of a £4 bottle from Aldi just up the road,, staff friendly enough, but I won’t go there again

Never knew this place existed, despite coming from Bristol! We were looking for somewhere to eat before going to the Tobacco Factory and this is right round the corner, so gave it a go. It’s not often we have steak. Well we’ll be back, that’s for sure! We both had sirloin steaks with different sauces/sides and they were cooked to perfection. We were lucky getting a table, as it’s definitely popular and we’d book next time. The staff are delightful and very attentive. A lovely surprise! Highly recommended.

We received outstanding food and service tonight. Upon paying the manager asked how was our food and if we were here for a special occasion after paying i said it was my partner birthday. Without giving it a second thought he immediately sent us over a pudding with a candle making the night even more special for my boyfriends birthday. Thank you all so much!

Had a gorgeous lunch today at the steakhouse. All the food and drinks were absolutely delicious, the service impeccable and the chef himself came out to ask if we liked the food. I also like the interior - a simple, slightly rustic style, with lots of natural light. It isn't cheap but worth it.

It's a busy steak restaurant - it's main focus are the streaks. The steaks were ok, but I didn't like the ribs which were way too dry. Maybe it's me but the restaurant was way too loud for me, the guests voices were loud and bouncing off the bar walls. Think I prefer somewhere quieter so i can hear my companions.

Wow, we came out this evening to celebrate our sons GCSE results and we were glad we chose here. We had a steak, fish of the day, Mac N Cheese and a burger. We all thought the food was amazing and nothing was left, even the side trays were empty. The service was really good. We'll definitely be back in the future!

This is a steakhouse that stands out and I would throughly recommend the steaks were cooked to perfection We went for Sunday Lunch after previously coming across Ashville dropping in for a drink and having the salad with chicken and blue cheese sauce which was full of flavour and the sauce was warm with blue cheese crumbled in After this experience we booked for Sunday lunch and again was not disappointed the Sunday lunch 3 meats was good size portion with a large Yorkshire pudding Other members had the Wardy Board which is 4 steaks fillet, rump, ribeye and sirloin all the steaks were cooked to perfection The food is reasonably priced and good value The restaurant has a charming relax atmosphere and the service was just right with all the members of staff having a smile on there faces When I write this review all I can think about is when I next return

Just a quick note to say thank you to all the staff on duty last night. Myself and friend popped in en route for a pint heading onto Temple meads station. But despite having a quick pint we both thought all staff were friendly and courteous and wanted to say great to see.

Just a perfect classic steakhouse. Great food, sweet atmosphere, and great service. My partner and I share the 52oz steak and some sides. Big, thick, and beautifully cooked steaks. We've forgotten to "reserve" the steaks ahead of time and they are super nice and accomodating. 10/10 (and I am American - we don't do much right but we know our steaks!)

My self and my wife visited today 28-7-2024 for her birthday. I had the burger and my wife had the 3 meat roast. I must say the food was incredible very tasty and flavourful. The service was brilliant and the staff always had a smile on their faces to me that goes along way. Thank you guys for a very enjoyable meal. Will definitely be coming back 👍🏼

What an absolute find this place is, tucked away, with chill living room vibes. Show stopping steak and sides. I was pleasantly surprised with the high quality steaks. Service was also on point, welcoming and friendly. Can't wait to come back!

This place is our go to for our anniversary. We go every July (as well as other times for special occasions) and the food and customer experience is simply the best in Bristol. The 10oz fillet is always my go to (so good that the wife and I don’t talk to each other for good 5 mins) and the owner and his staff are just amazing. Thank you as always for everything you do. I wouldn’t go anywhere else!

Came here with friends and once again it didn't disappoint. To start with we had 3 French Onion soups ( the best I've ever had) and the Brie wedges which was huge and delicious. We all had The Wardy Board. A must. 4 cuts of steak. Rump,sirloin,ribeye,and filet. 5oz's each with 3 sauces of your choice. THE BEST. We managed to squeeze in a desert which was home made Biscoff cheesecake. Hospitality was 100%. We will be returning

A wonderful Sunday lunch had by all, couldn't fault it. Helpful staff, quick service and delicious food.

Father's day treat! Never been here before and it's not local for us but had heard great things so thought we would give it a go. I will keep it brief! Brilliant service, roast was amazing and would 100% go again. Probably the best Sunday roast around and the burger the kids had was up there as well. We were gutted that they only take cash for tips and we had none. Oh well, we will have to go back and give them double!

The 4 of us ordered various meals and drinks. All were well presented by great staff and the food was very tasty. My fillet steak with mushroom sauce was delicious. A vibrant place outside the Emission Zone with a good buzz about it and every table filled. A most enjoyable evening.

First time going here as a party of 2 we’d ordered steaks. The sides were amazing! The cheesy mash was soo nice, really cheesy (perfect amount) and lovely flavours. The cauliflower cheese was also 10/10 and of course the steak was 10/10. Only down fall I’d say was the mushroom sauce was blended instead of chunky (maybe personal preference.) the last few times visiting have been on Sunday for their roasts. The first two Sundays we ordered cheesy mash as a side, hoping it would taste like the first time although the cheese was lacking which is so disappointing! Never the less, the cauliflower has neverrrr let us down. If I was being really picky when it comes to the roast I could say the potatoes could be a bit fluffier but overall would have to give Ashville a 9/10 for their Sunday roasts! Fair prices for all you get and the staff are always polite and accommodating:)

We decided to try the Ashville for our anniversary, on arrival we ordered drinks and was asked to wait at the bar while they got the table ready, not a problem atall and I enjoyed a lovely cocktail named after the venue, my husband had a thatchers gold. We were shown to our table, and handed menus by a nice waitress, we both ordered a starter I had soup of the day which was French onion soup and my husband had the camabert, my soup was OK bit watery and very beefy for a onion soup and my husband said his was a bowl of melted cheese and didn't have much flavour. For mains I had pre ordered my husband a 32oz tomahawk steak which he throughally enjoyed but the rest of the food was mediocre at best I had a fillet steak that I asked to be cooked well done, which it was on the outside but the inside was bright pink and I couldn't eat it, the chips tasted like they had been fished out the bottom of the basket, the onion rings had absolutely no flavour was like eating cooked batter, my husband had mac and cheese as a side, took one bite and nearly spat it out he said it was very dry like it had been sitting under a heat lamp and was definitely not fresh. The pigs in blankets were very nice. I tried another cocktail on the menu, an expresso martini (now I have had these before) and this was not very nice either tasted very bitter. My husband decided we should have desert so he had a chocolate brownie which was more cake like than a brownie and I tried a coffee desert, was again a let down, we ended up going to the local sainsburys to pick up ice cream. The atmosphere was lovely and the staff very friendly but the food let it down now we don't know if we came on a day where they were just having a off day because the reviews we read and the recommendations from friends we were expecting a lot more and with a nearly £200 bill plus tip we just expected more and sadly we won't be returning.

First time visiting and absolutely loved the food. I was especially pleased with the mixed vegetables. Sweet potato chips were very good too. I had the 10oz ribeye which does not warrant any complaints either. Will love to visit again. Can get a little noisy inside but doesn't overly detract from the experience. Make sure you book first though.

We went to The Ashville for a birthday celebration. Sandor and his team NEVER fail. We had French onion soup to start, which were yummy and Brie wedges, which were so scummy and goey. My partner and I had the Wardy Board 4 cuts of steak, ribeye,filet,rump, and sirloin served with 3 sauces of our choice with fries. Deeeelicious. There were also baby rack ribs, which were so soft and meaty. The food is always exquisite. Unfortunately, there was no room for deserts however I can recommend the homemade biscoff cheesecake

We came to dinner this evening and have to say that the experience from start to finish was 5 star. Upon entry we were greeted by a friendly staff member who showed us to our table. Once seated we were promptly asked what drinks we would like, followed by our food order at an appropriate time. We ordered the Wadry Board which consisted of; Fillet, Rib eye, Sirloin and rump steak, chips and opted for a side of onion rings. The steak was divine and cooked just perfectly. The chips were also the best I’ve had with a steak in a long time. Service was excellent as well as the chef. We weren’t rushed at all and our food was very prompt; not forgetting that the food was excellent value for money. We’ve paid a lot more for steak that’s didn’t have a touch on this. It’s a shame to see that this place has received any negative reviews as I cannot complain at all. We will be returning to try out the Sunday roast next 😍. Well done team!

Visited yesterday for my husbands bday after a few years absence. We used to live a few streets away and go regularly, but was worried it wouldn’t live up to our memories but it absolutely did. It’s bright and fresh inside, service is great, and most importantly food is blooming fab. Back in the day the burgers were always a highlight, the flavour lives firmly in my mind 🤤 Pleased to report nothing has changed on that front! The 3 meat combo of brisket, rump and rib eye in the patty definitely makes for one of Bristol’s best burgers 💪 Then it would have been criminal not to have steak. 10oz I believe is bigger than the standard serving for a fillet at many other venues, so good value, and yes it’s the most overused phrase ever but it was cooked to perfection. The chips are exceptional - impress even my seriously fussy husband who moans that most places don’t cut their own potatoes. Onion rings the size of your hand. Mac n cheese to die for. I could go on. We will not be leaving it that long until our next visit 🤤

We went for a friend’s birthday, he had been raving about the Ashville and it did not disappoint. Lovely setting, wonderful service and great food. I had a stunning piece of fillet, just melted in my mouth with a wonderful side of tripe cooked chips. I genuinely couldn’t recommend the Ashville highly enough.

Absolutely brilliant. Food and rink were fabulous, great quality and portions and reasonably priced. James looked after us throughout our visit and was exceptional. He went over and above, bringing a couple of wines over for us to try before we bought, suggesting food, and just being relaxed and making our time so so enjoyable and special Highly recommend this venue, we thought we were walking into a residential area, but this little gem was in the centre and did not disappoint. Residents here are lucky to have such a place on their doorstep. We will definitely return and recommend to others.

Family birthday celebration for eight very well organised on Good Friday, on arrival made to feel very welcome, especially by James, lovely decor and nice atmosphere, The best steaks we’ve ever tasted, good side dish selection. Our first visit and we will definitely be back soon

Left quite disappointed. We have been here a couple times over the years and wine selection is unusual but interesting (Hungarian and Romanian......something different I guess) and the service is actually fairly efficient. What really threw us off is the large T Bone cooked mid rare, would never have such a large cut rare so the fat can be properly rendered. We have had every steak in this city and I've never experienced this. Basically I'm convinced of this or a combination of these factors happened while cooking. - Either the cut is not aged in anyway and low quality - It was seared and then deep fried - The grill section used to sear was caked in pork fat due to the Sunday lunches and it literally made crackling out of fat. The steak was just predominantly tasting of pork through and through and was kinda gross sitting in a pool of fat unrested, probably should have spoke up but we had already waited an hour at this point. Shame coz I've rated this place highly before and something clearly has changed, wouldn't just put a review for any old reason but I'm concerned about the potential cross contamination and paying £140+ for a steak isn't cheap.

If you're craving a carnivorous adventure + amazing food, look no further than the Ashville Steakhouse! This place is amazing! First off, let's talk about the burger. It's like biting into a juicy beef cloud sprinkled with happiness. The patties are so tender, they practically melt in your mouth like butter on a hot skillet. And don't get me started on the toppings – they're piled higher than a Jenga tower on cheat day! Now, onto the triple cooked chips. These bad boys are so crispy, they could give potato chips an inferiority complex. They're like the Olympians of the potato world – golden, crunchy, and ready to take home the gold medal in deliciousness! And dessert? Oh, sweet mercy, the sticky toffee pudding and ice cream are like a match made in dessert heaven. It's like a warm hug from grandma mixed with a scoop of pure bliss. They're like the Avengers of hospitality – friendly, welcoming, and ready to save your hunger pangs with a smile. They'll make you feel more at home than your own couch on a lazy Sunday. Absolutely love the steaks here and the Sunday Roast. Always amazing flavour and well cooked steaks ranging from 10oz to a whopping 96oz! 😲 The starters, sauces and side are all fantastic. I recommend the ribs and a portion of their giant onion rings. Also you'll struggle to find better triple cooked chips! We had between us... Starters: - BBQ Ribs Mains: - 36 oz T-Bone - 32 oz Tomahawks, I had truffle aioli with mine! Sides: Triple Cooked chips & Truffle parmesan - TCC - Mac & Cheese - Giant Onions Rings! - Salad Desserts: - Biscoff Cheesecake Sticky Toffee Pudds I've been here a fair bit and love the owners who care so much for the quality and service. I would 100% recommend you give it a try for a steak night with friend and family or for their Sunday Roast. Another enjoyable eating experience. Impressive venue, staff were lovely and welcoming. I went for mixed roast of pork loin, beef and lamb. Generally it was nice, pork loin crackling was crunchy however the loin was a little tough. Beef and lamb were nice and tender. Roast potatoes were crispy and fluffy in the middle. Yorkshire pudding was crispy but still tasted nice , along with the gravy, which was thick and flavoursome. Veg was spot on, special mention goes to the red cabbage and cauli cheese. The cheese to cauliflower ratio was was spot on.

We went as a family of 6 to celebrate a birthday. Starters were great hot tasty and plentiful. We all had steak I was the only one who had a fillet and it was without question the best I have ever had! Cooked perfectly melt in the mouth and just gorgeous. The sirloins were lovely also but 2 of us who had the rib-eye thought it was chewy and quite a lot of gristle hence not 5 stars. Desert was just gorgeous the cheesecake was delicious and the sticky toffee pud so light and fluffy We all had a lovely time and will definitely be visiting again soon. I had the lamb main and my husband had the all meats burger, a side of onion rings and pigs in blankets, the food was outstanding! There was absolutely no issues to report, hence why we have given 5 stars. Looking around everyone appeared very happy with their food, lots of chat and laughter, all the food was freshly cooked and tasted amazing! I asked for no celeriac puree, the waiter asked if i liked carrot as they could swop the celeriac for carrot puree, which i was very happy with. I had 2 glasses of white wine and my husband had a pint of larger, the final bill was very reasonable for the meals, sides and drinks, it all came to £64, we left a tip and we haven't ever felt compelled to leave a tip in any other restaurant.

Wow,what a fantastic evening we had at this wonderful restaurant. Not only was the food first class,but the staff were so lovely and obliging. From the moment we arrived nothing was too much trouble.Everything we ate,was so tasty and enjoyable. James our waiter really looked after us.This restaurant really is a jewel in a crown.We will definitely be back.

Booked this so called steakhouse for my 40th birthday when we made our Order we asked that our steaks to be well done and cooked so there wasn’t any red meat as my girlfriend is pregnant when the food arrived it wasn’t what we asked for so asked again for it to be cooked longer when it came back it was the same basically raw when I asked for it to be cooked longer once again the manager or owner told me that is was well done and he’s a chef so I’m wrong and was very rude at this point I had enough and left without a meal and this ruined my birthday stay clear there’s much better places to go than this over priced pub grub

The best steak!!! The Ashville Steakhouse never disappoints. A must if you are around Bristol.

What an absolute sh^t show. The service/attitude from the Manager/head chef Sandor. We booked a table for 13 for a 40th birthday meal and on arrival he moaned when we put 4 balloons on the table. We also asked if he could put the birthday cake behind the bar for when we had finished our meal which he said we would have to do the cake first, who the hell has a cake before a meal. He changed his mind but then spent the rest of the evening staring at us with a face like thunder. We were told prior to booking any steaks over 12oz would have to be pre booked. 2 of us ordered the Wardy board which consists of 3 x 5oz steaks and 1 x 6oz steaks. They said we could not order it because it's weight combined was over 12oz(thats not stated in the T&C). Again he changed his mind and said he would do it this once whilst stood at the bar staring over looking miserable for the whole time we was there. The food wasn't too bad but the service was absolutely shocking. I'd never recommend or return to this place again.

Nice meal, steak cooked to perfection, gin and wine selection for a high quality place needs expansion didn’t have what we wanted but overly Good would go back (yes) however hasn’t hit top billing 👍🏼🥩

It's the best pub in Bristol but please don't tell anyone, it's busy enough already 😄🍻

Popped here last weekend for a roast dinner, and it was fantastic! Nice little pub just on the outskirts of town, tucked away! We all had different roasts, but they were all a great size and very tasty! Unfortunately we didn’t have time for a pud, but the Biscoff Cheesecake looked good! Would recommend for the roasts! Next time will try to go mid week for the steak

This steak house is worth crossing the river for (Bristolians will understand), the inside warmth, character and welcome make up for the stark exterior. There are plenty of staff so service is excellent. Food delicious, including very special lamb rump dish. Reasonably priced desserts with crowd pleasers (STP) and non alcoholic drinks which don't cost the earth. All in all a great place to visit but recommend booking!

My party of 24 visited The Ashville for a pre-theatre dinner, Across the 24 of us we ordered virtually everything on the non-steak menu - main course only - ALL of the dishes arrived within minutes of each other. Given the size of their kitchen - everything was cooked to perfection - and on time [we have a tight window]. The food and service was second to none - We'll be back soon! Thank you

Didn't eat here but booked a room upstairs room was fantastic clean tidy and well maintained had a few drinks at the bar staff was very nice and friendly helpful look forward to stop here again when I'm working down tjis way again very soon

Friendly staff in a nice B&B who serve a very nice full English breakfast.

We came just before christmas for a meal as we are currently working our way through all the restaurants of bristol. The food was outstanding but the service was terrible. Left waiting in a crammed little area by the bar as our table wasn't ready had to lean over people to pay for our drinks. Then we had food which was lovely. The steak was cooked to perfection and the side dishes were delicious, although we ordered desserts and instead of being told they were out of a certain cheesecake they brought out a completely different one which we didn't realise until we started eating and some on the table didnt like it. Asked for more drinks which we got told 'yeah yeah' and they never materialised, then got made to hurrily leave the table as the next group had arrived so had to stand back in the tiny bar area waiting for our bill so we could actually pay and leave. We understand if your busy and you need to clear the tables quickly but for how many tables you have shoved in such small areas and the prices that your customers are paying I really think you should think about taking less bookings and working on your customer experience slightly, then it really would be an excellent place to eat.

Booked a table for 12.00hrs for Sunday lunch. Arrived at 11.45 to be greeted by a surely gentleman who said "We open at 12.00 and have a staff meeting before that". It was the first impression that only Basil Faulty could compete with. It was awkward so we offered to wait outside until 12.00 which they agreed to. It was cold and windy and if they did not want people arriving until 12.00 they should have kept he door locked. The food was OK although the portion size of the pork was 2 extremely thin slices. That will be my first and last visit.

A little disappointed with the food, not as tasty as we'd been told. Venue was draughty and service wasn't very dynamic or fun.

Great food the steak was amazing thank you we will definitely be coming back.
