The good is amazing. Never had a bad meal here. Service is impeccable. Good is delicious. Perfect for date night or something special. Definitely recommend every single time

Zeeras is the best Indian on Ocean Rd and in South Shields. I have taken many nationalities here and all have said the food is amazing. The owner is superb and sets the standard for hospitality. The staff are attentive and professional, but the food is exceptional, fresh, vibrant and tasty. If you are planning going out for a family meal you won't go wrong at Zeeras.

Booked a table for 7.30. Arrived on time. Waited for around 45 minutes in reception . I asked the manager what was going on. Manager was very rude and impolite. Such an attitude. Left and went elsewhere. Won't be going back.

Posh decor - on a par with Radhuni and Tandoori on Ocean Rd, so decent for an occasion. Smart lobby, friendly service. Just ordered the chicken tilka masala and steamed rice. Served piping hot and delicious. A bit pricier than others nearby but they are more like cafes or older decor.

Really disappointed. We were a table of 11 on a Tuesday evening and I think they were understaffed in the kitchen. It felt like they didn’t gave the correct ingredients so made do with what they had. The drinks took forever to come. The pickle tray was woeful, mainly creamy coleslaw which I’ve never, ever seen in an Indian restaurant. Most people were disappointed in the taste of their food. The Bunny Chow came in a square load which looked like it had been picked up in Asda - not the traditional round fresh cooked loaf. Sadly we’ll not be returning

Beautiful venue food is outstanding never been let down when going here always choose here when dining out for a curry there was 7 of us and everything was brought out together hot and tasty

We had an excellent meal at the restuarant - our first time of visiting. From the welcome as we arrived, to the very reasonable final bill we had a fantastic time. The restaurant is absolutely gorgeous - very clean and lovely decor. The food was delicious and the staff were very good at recommending a new dish to my husband. We will definitely be back!

One-off the better curry houses in south shields well worth a visit

Genuine review regarding Zeera. We ordered food as a takeaway so this review is not about the restaurant which hopefully will be different We ordered a curry, naan, rice and a paneer sizzler. Everything we got was terrible in terms of flavour and quality of food. The curry was absolutely tastless. As was the rice and the naan. The sizzler was particluarly bad as it cost £14 and came with 5 chunks of panner and the rest veg (photo attached) and it was awful. Hopefully this was a one off as the food was really bad. I wouldnt recommend this place for food.

Firstly my mate and I were grateful this place was open past 11pm but this is now the fifth time I have been here and as you are bombarded with their awards etc when you arrive. Expectations are justifiably high. Place was dead. One drunken couple and us present. Staff are pleasant enough. The benchmark of any Indian restaurant for starters. Onion bhaji. 3 small dried out offerings. Sorry but not acceptable whatever the time of day or night. Raita was missing any depth and was unsweetened so not pleasant at all. Popadoms were nice as were the 6 chutneys. Naga lamb was very tender and spicy as it should be. The chilli nan was lovely and the star of the show. Dipped in the chutneys. Egg rice was a bit overcooked. My mates chicken tikka looked good and his lamb curry was good but under spiced apparently. The whole thing was ok but for a place that is supposed to be multi award winning, it was very average. In a very competitive market on Ocean Road I would look elsewhere first.

Food and atmosphere here are both excellent, perfect for special occasions. My single minor complaint about our experience is that there seemed to be a bit of a language barrier between us and the serving staff. however I can't really blame them considering we have strong local accents. Will definitely be back.

Brilliant restaurant, owner is very welcoming and staff could not have been more helpful. Suave, chic atmosphere. No loud music. Food is delicious, not on the cheap side but you always pay for quality. They also have excellent menu options for gluten free, vegetarian and vegan people.

Went to this restaurant without a booking and were accommodated immediately, there was four adults and a two year old. Staff there were so courteous and pleasant. We were seated, had our coats taken and attended to very quickly. We ordered a variety of food which was all very good, tasty and reasonably priced. We were all very happy with our meal. I want to say how impressed we were with the excellent service from the staff! We will definitely be back and highly recommend Zeeras for quality food and excellent service. Thank you.

I would never go back to zeehra the boss had attitude and very over priced ordered monk fish curry it was horrible chewey charged £28 for it there was 5 of us I shared curry

Lucked into this place during a works outing, brilliant! This is now my go-to place if I want a curry. We've brought 3 different couples here, they've all loved it. Good staff, good prices, good atmosphere. My favourite is the railway lamb curry. Really recommend!

Brilliant delicious food great service

I've visited Zeera many times since it opened, with family and friends especially to mark special family birthdays and on a number of Christmas Days in recent years. Only two of us this year however as ever, Zeera did not disappoint! They create a unique venue every year and this year was probably the best yet. It had several courses included and we liked the fact that there was time between each course so we didn't feel rushed through. The staff as always looked after us and we had a great time as always! The pictures do not do the food justice whatsoever! Thank you!

We went as a family for our Christmas dinner the food was exceptional , the staff although busy were helpful and friendly . I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this restaurant , the deco is really nice the restaurant is spotlessly clean .

This is thr first time myself and my family had been out for Xmas day . We arrived and was met by the manager who was very welcoming. He Said merry Christmas which made it exciting. We only waited for our seats and got champagne. The meal was beautifully cooked. Service was 100 💯 percent remembering that the staff were serving us on Christmas day . I would recommend if you want to go with family this is a perfect venue regardless of other reviews. They made their own problems. Can't thank you again . We will be back next Christmas day .

Absolutely appalling service. Waited 2hrs to only recieve a popadum and pickle tray and a cold starter, which should have hot!. Managers attitude was a disgrace and avoided us all night even though we asked to speak to him several times. Other diners who arrived at the same time, had ate 4 courses in the time we were waiting!! We left after 2hrs, hungry and highly annoyed, as did several other tables of unhappy diners. Ruin iur Christmas day. Had to order delivery pizzas in the end. And the manager still couldn't see how they were in the wrong. Never step foot in the place again. Avoid if possible

Totally shocking, booked an hour before arrival and was told we could be seated, we arrived to be left in the tiny bar area for an hour with a 3 year old and a 6 month old... we were told it was there mistake and the booking shouldn't have been taken as they didnt have the space.. the booking was already for 6.45pm so an hour delay is a long time for children of that age. We were then seated and told we would be compensated for our wait. When we were eating, a very small amount of water was spilled on the table and floor, a few drops at most and the manager came over and started mopping around us, rearranging our table aggressively to clean up the tiny amount of water and even picked up my nieces popudom to rearrange it on her plate. When it was time to pay we handed in our scratch cards that were given out at the start of the meal, there was a few for 1pound off the meal and 2 for a free shot, my shot came and had a fly in it, on telling management about this there was no apology, he just took it, held it up to the light to check and said 'well somethings in there!' With an aggressive tone. We received the bill, with no discount to compensate our hour long wait, as promised and when we enquiered about this we were told we could have the popudoms for free... they were worth £6.00, we spent £225.00 in total that evening.. We then proceeded to pay, without complaining about any of this, and upon paying the manager took the Money and stormed back to the table and said we underpaid, slamming the money on the table. We told him we hadn't and to check again and he went away and realised he was in fact wrong. We received no apology so my family then proceeded to tell him how unhappy we had been with the entire evening, from Start to finish, again no apology, he just argued with us and refused to accept he did anything wrong. Food was actually lovely, and there was a couple of waiters who were sweethearts but the attitude from the guy who we are assuming was the manager was horrendous. We have been to several restaurants on ocean Road and never have we recieved service like this.

Great curry house . Pricey but worth it

Very tasty food and a warm welcome when we arrived. We came here on Christmas day and I highly recommend it here. The dynamite prawns as a starter were delicious. We both also won a prize on the free scratch card they handed us.

We thought we would try this restaurant on the 20.12.23 as we were in the area we ordered a pint of Diet Coke and a Sparkling Water which was 800ml price at £6.95 which we thought was fairly expensive for a sparkling water we then ordered some food we ordered a Zeera Mixed Platter which was very small for the price we paid at £23.95 it had 1 chop 1 small piece of kofta and 2 bits of chicken and 2 cubes of pannier cheese which also came with onions we felt it was very overpriced for the portion size,we also ordered a Adraki Gobi which was very good and a plain Naan bread,we have visited other restaurants on this street and thought that the portion sizes were better for the same price we do understand that they need to make a profit.

Please be careful before you go here. Found a piece of plastic in my dish and the manager did not seem to be very shaken by it. Suggests how normal it would be for this place to have severe complaints with food that is barely worth to be called Indian. No authenticity or taste in the food, service was average but everything's overcharged considering the poor quality.

Seated quickly with no wait . Service was good time between courses so no rush . Food was great and well priced x

Fantastic food at Zeeras. I had a king prawn dish and there were plenty of prawns. My husband had a chicken dish which he said was fantastic. Lovely food and good staff.

Always a friendly welcome from Shah and his team. Food is consistently very good. Would definitely recommend a visit for either a high quality restaurant experience or use the user friendly app and have your delicious meal at home. Keep an out for the Chef's Speciality dishes and special banquet nights. If you are lucky to experience one of these it will be remembered for a long time.

It was my first visit and the first time I had tasted Mombai street food …. DELICIOUS ….. staff friendly..had a enjoyable evening with my family…was a wee bit surprised as it was another first to be charged for the container to take uneaten food home.On the whole a great experience …Thank you

Visited this place on a wet Friday evening, we were met at the door by a serious looking manager/ owner who's first response to us was to ask for our umbrellas. The pickles were good as was the onion bhaji. My lamb korma was disappointing, it was a strange colour and had the consistency of semolina, the taste of coconut was over powering. Another dish was bright red like tomato ketchup. The peshwari nan bread was more plain nan with coconut spinkles on top, nothing inside, the rice was OK. The waiters were pleasant, the manager looked miserable, maybe because it wasn't busy on a Friday evening.

A celebration night out for our Quiz team tonight. We took advantage of the South Tyneside Restaurant week offer and we're bowled over by it's quality. Unusual and delightful selection of pickles to go with our poppadoms. Delightful onion bhajis ( always a guide for us as to how good a place is). A tasty and varied selection of main courses. The only quibble being that the Tarka Dhal was a little under spiced. Attentive and helpful service. Now it's my "go to" place on South Shields' Ocean Road.

We booked a table for 6.30.asvwe had 3bunder 1 in our party, it was grandma's birthday and the first time all the children had been together. We got our main meal at 2040. That wasn't at our request. The waiter started sweeping the floor and moving chairs whilst we were still eating, people who arrived after us had a starter and main before we got ours, then whilst cleaning up the plates the waiter spilled the food down my dress, the manager kept swooping in to take away napkin rings, my grandson needed a nappy change, there were no facilities for this and the manager told us to make sure the nappy was put in a bag and taken away.. the food was mediocre and the waiter mixed up the meals. All in all we felt intimidated by the manager leaning over us whilst we were earing. Poor service, not prioritising order of service to customers

You lot have got to be taking the absolute piss out of potential takeaway customers on just eat.. nearly 6 quid for a garlic rice and just under 11 quid for a chicken vindaloo hahaha...I'm sorry to say but I expect your takeaway side to be making next to nothing with those prices, don't use cost of living crisis as an excuse either.. loads of other takeaway places doing it right and not being greedy

Wasn’t great The food was pretty dull (not much punch) and the service was just strange Very rushed, despite not being busy. The waiter came over and asked if we wanted to order but then didn’t give us his attention as his eyes and attention was wandering elsewhere They came and mopped our table twice for a little spilt sauce from the chutneys while we were still eating. One waiter stud behind me (if I leaned back I could touch him) like my chaperone (that was strange) I wanted prawns and something from the chefs specials and when I asked the waiter he said, just get a Bhuna (inspirational) All in all it was just a bit poor and tasteless I got the chef special The menu I read online looked so inspirational but the one we were presented with was lacking in choice. I had to double check my booking and the address to make sure I was at the right place Quite oily too.

Poppadoms and dips were very good; onion bhajis were good; chicken tikka jalfrezi was milder than I'm used to but the chicken tikka itself was quite good; mushroom rice was good; naans were soft and warm but they weren't particularly strong in flavour. Nice relaxed restaurant space with pleasant staff.

On a work trip, as a solo diner the experience was fantastic 👌 Exceptionally attentive staff. Delicious mocktail. Tastes that took me straight back to my travels in India. Highly recommend.

Excellent service and food very reasonable prices

Food was good but pricey, £24.95 for a biriani. I thought portions were smaller than other restaurants. Between four of us the cost was £107 but we were asked to pay £1 for a carton to take as a doggy bag, first time I have ever come across this especially after how much we spent. Very clean and stylish looking place but in my opinion there are equally if not better places on Ocean Road.

We went as they’ve recently won an award in a national competition. The chef who won must have left. I could honestly say it’s the worst curry I’ve had in years. Swimming in oil. My starter Bhuna Prawn on puri was bland and just warm. My main course was a chicken Rogan. It was actually unpleasant. Sides were ok. Our waiter despite being very well mannered just kept trying to carry too much. He kept dropping the cutlery on the floor then trying again to carry it. They consistently served meals over us instead or around the table. We actually had to move plates ourselves so it didn’t topple onto us. I’ll not return or recommend the place.

Bit of a mixed bag. The atmosphere was really enjoyable but sadly the food was rather bland. Didn't really get off to a good start with the pickle tray and poppadoms as the tray contents I found really poor. One of the dips tasted just like tomato sauce and another that had no flavour at all. My main was a rather odd looking chicken spinach dish with a consistency and appearance of swamp algae?. The taste was actually ok but the chicken within was not good at all. Thankfully very little of it. Keema naan had no keema and was doughy and small. Food portions whilst presented well were very very small. Had high hopes but sadly disappointed. Drinks must be very expensive as the total bill was £36 per person and we each chose the £13.95 two course option.

Turned up without a reservation and got a table for 4 no problem. Menu is very extensive and exciting. Food was plentiful and delicious. Alcohol free Cobra is served here 😁 which is great. Staff could not have been more helpful or courteous if they'd tried. Good value for money and definitely worth another visit.

At Zeera you normally get a really nice curry. I was there last night and that was the worst curries I've ever had. The pickle tray had tomato ketchup in it, the mint sauce had no mint, and the main course was five small pieces of chicken in soup. Very bland, very poor food. The service was good but I go to a restaurant for good food , I can live with grumpy waiters if the food is nice. I won't be going back there again. I told the staff there about the issues but was told it's from the same batch so it will all taste like that. Make of that what you will.

Very good a al carte Indian restaurant, a cut above the rest in Ocean Road. A great place for a special occasion. Pricy for your day to day curry.

Lovely ambience and delicious food, we picked from the kitchen's specials and were not disappointed! The duck starter was superb and the lamb "one of the nicest things I've ever eaten". Zeera is well established among many restaurants on the street and has deservedly grown since we first visited 5 years ago. We come back to Zeera for a celebration as the style and menu are truly remarkable and the price accessible.

Lovely welcome when we arrived and quickly seated to our table. Outstanding customer service from all the staff, especially the waiter at our table. All the good came out piping hot and well presented. The quality and quantity of the food was second to none. The set menu was excellent value and would highly recommend.

The food is delicious, but the service is bad. The waiter talks to you without a smile. There was not one, but most of them, except for the waiter Ayman, who was the only one who was nice and put 3 stars for him.

Had a lovely meal as a family here last night. Plenty of choice on the menu, including vegetarian option and 2 course meal deal. My husband made a mistake when ordering his curry and they were more than happy to exchange it if he wanted, but it was so delicious we kept it!! I ordered chicken Sri Lanka, which I often have in other Indian restaurants, and this was really delicious. My son had Jalfrezi - also very tasty! The staff were very friendly and polite and the restaurant premises were immaculate. Other diners all seemed happy too and the manager spent time talking to each table. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
