Y's Bar and Snap in Kirklees

The owner was very rude when I asked to pay for our drinks. She stated that another group at the bar had been charged and payed for our drinks - I replied that I wanted to pay for my drinks regardless of her error - she became irate and rude, even telling me to F off. All said I insisted on paying for my drinks and she took the payment reluctantly- I wonder if she credited back the other group! Seemed highly strung and somewhat stressed - maybe time she gave up the bar.

Over priced and underwhelming! Absolute joke for prices. £37 for a bottle of Prosecco! Nothing special. Can see why the place closes early most days. Won’t be around for much longer!!

Hello there, visited your bar last night with a large group of 10 friends and whilst I appreciate we were loud on entering your establishment (Saturday night in a pub, go figure 😳🤦🏼‍♀️) before we had even ordered a drink we were told by a lady behind the bar to basically ‘shut up’…….id love to give a lovely review about how nice the place is as the rest of the pubs we went to in Holmfirth were lovely….but we didn’t stick around long enough to even see what your bar was like because you were just bloody rude and unwelcoming! It’s a shame because you were actually recommended by a local person in passing. Actually saw the same person over the road in Harvey’s after and they were shocked when I told them how you were. I wouldn’t return here but I guess you wouldn’t want us to either!

Visited with family bought dronks only shocked at the price of drinks. We are yorkshire folk and aware of beer costs please check prior to purchase as prices are outragious. There are more places in Holmfirth with a 50% better price. We were charge £16 for 2 largers forget it guys there are more reasonable places to drink. We know prices have increased but this place has jumped on the band wagon !

I’d recommend Y’s bar. Great inside and outside bar for drinks in the centre on Holmfirth. Nice atmosphere Yolanda is the perfect host

Absolutely cannot wait to be a local. Great first impression. Thanks for welcome. Almost had our first drink free 👍. Made decision to live near by that little bit easier. Instantly fell for lovely character / owner. Aww you ASAP

Called in whilst having a walk around the village. Ridiculously overpriced £25.90 for two large tanqueray gin and tonics! Avoid

Very strange lady behind the bar. I think she’d had a few sherbets. She would serve locals but not people she did not know. Weird.

Called in here last Saturday with 2 friends. Will never go back as long as the Women behind the bar is running the place. I think her name is Yolanda so I have been informed. With all the new drinking establishments In Holmfirth. You would think she would treat her customers with a little more respect. After all,how does she think she’s gets a income off a money tree!!!The way she dealt with my complaint over a pt of beer that was obviously past it’s sell by date was disgraceful. I can only presume she has had enough of the place and is trying to run it into the ground.Plenty of other customer friendly establishments in Holmfirth that welcome you in, provide good service, which makes you go back.

We’ve been to Y’s Bar a handful of times while up in Yorkshire from London. We’ve always had great service from Yolanda and everyone seems to know each other and it’s got a good friendly vibe. Will be returning again and again and again!

I like this place. Has a good outside area to sit with patio heaters and blankets. Also a bluetooth speaker so you can listen to your own music. Only downside of this place, is the price of a gin and tonic. It's city prices. Down in Honley, it is around £4.50. Here, it is £9.50.

Great bar in the heart of holmfirth. Brilliant gin and great music. Owner really friendly will definitely be visiting again

This is a good place for outdoors drinking with heaters, a fire, comfy seating area, cushions and blankets. They have a speaker outdoors, and you can play your own music, which creates a good atmosphere, with every one discussing what music they want to hear

We booked a Sunday dinner here on the back of a recommendation. I was a bit dubious as I had always associated this place as somewhere to go for drinks on a weekend. However, I was more than pleasantly surprised. The lady behind the bar who greeted us was warm, friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere was relaxed with easy listening music playing in the background. We all ordered Sunday Roast. There was plenty of it. The beef was melt in the mouth tender, great Yorkshire puddings and plenty of potatoes and veg. We all thoroughly enjoyed the food

This bar doesn’t scream at you from the main Holmfirth High Street so look out for the signage down to Norridge Bottom. Yes, the 6 of us were the only visitors but it was 16:30 on a Thursday afternoon! There are a large number of outside tables and seating which gives a clue to just how busy the place could get. The owner, Yolanda, was very friendly and joined us for a chat and made us feel like we were old pals joining her for a drink. For families there are a couple of kid enticing shops as well as a few others but our focus was on gin (!) and there was a good choice. The place was very clean inside and out. Food (aka snap) is available but we had already made plans so didn’t eat there.

We popped into y’s bar and snap for a drink on a busy Saturday sunny afternoon and the place was packed with people both eating and drinking. We just had drinks on this occasion but the menu looked lovely and we will be back to sample some of the food on offer. Our welcome was warm and friendly from Yolanda the owner and service was quick, beers were great and huge selection of drinks behind the bar. The locals were all friendly and were having a great time outside with a bit of karaoke as we left. We will definitely be back soon.

Far too expensive for drinks. The owner not very friendly when ordering my drinks. I asked if she had added lime to the vastly expensive lager and got a very curt response. She then had to be reminded about what the 3rd drink. Very rude. No please or thank you when asking for the over inflated amount she wanted

Had Sunday lunch there. Ordered a classic burger and spicy wings, both turned out to be vastly overcooked so the meat was tough. Nice place but won't be going there again.

always a great atmosphere inside and outside,,,,very busy and very friendly..met some lovely new friends here,,food is good as w.ell. especially the sunday roast.....yolanda is such a wonderful host..

Visited many bars over time frequently within Holmfirth but this is one to miss. Pint of beer (Estrella) at £4.90...other beers not much difference in price! Gin and tonic with tonic nearly as much as the gin!

We had a round of drinks in here on a recent night out in Holmfirth. Always used to enjoy this little place, atmosphere, drinks all nice. Rounds of drinks always seem expensive now but this time we weren't there long as all of the beers served were terrible. Place used to be really busy and lucky to get in let alone get a seat. Not surprised is was half empty

We just went for early evening drinks. Noticed the owner very friendly with a few regulars but off hand and impatient with us. This a shame as we liked the general atmosphere of the place. Extensive cocktail list with lots of great sounding drinks. Unfortunately disappointed with the ones we chose as too sweet and not good value.

Great little bar not the cheapest for drinks.Sunday lunch is the best I have ever had and not expensive,£8-90 for roast beef,pork,or chicken.Just like home made cooking!

Went in here with friends before Christmas had 4 gin and tonics and said just wanted normal tonic they proceeded to give us the priciest fever tree tonic despite us saying no.

We popped in for some quick food. We had the Brie, onion rings, nachos and the fries with garlic mayo. Random mix but it’s what we fancied! The onion rings were incredible!!

we have visited this bar on a number of occasions and love it! sat inside and out ! they provide blankets if you need them for outside , it's lovely! the stout is a must , gorgeous hint of coffee , my favourite! well worth a visit. very friendly staff and although never eaten there yet the food looks amazing ! we will definitely try next time we visit !

Flat pint, expensive prices and the opening hours are a complete lie to get better reviews. Complained about my flat beer and was told I was wrong, my lager wasn’t flat, despite lack of bubbles, the lager I’ve been drinking for the past 15 years was supposed to be flat with no head?!?

Went in for a drink and one of the bar staff member shouted out this is a 21 year old bar in front of customers?? Was made a mockery and felt very unwelcome. Rude, arrogant Staff AVOID

Been in here countless times and never fail to be entertained and treated well, Yolanda (hence Y’s Bar) welcomes you like part of the family, food and drink are always exceptional and the cocktails are superb, l really don’t understand negative reviews on here, maybe the local Working men’s club would be better suited, trust me if you want a great afternoon or night out, there is no better place to start or finish than here.

I live locally to Holmfirth and about a year ago myself and friends arranged a night out in the village. The last time I had been to this pub it was under a different name and management and I wasn't that impressed if I was honest. HOWEVER, on this occasion it was now called Y's Bar and Snap and run by the fantastic Yolanda (Hence the 'Y'). What can I say what doesn't sound like I've been slipped a brown envelope but the place is absolutely spot on. From that first visit a year ago Yolanda got to know us all and on every visit we're welcomed like we're family. She totally makes this place come alive in what is a modern but cosey environment which serves a good pint and not too shabby cocktails either. We all honestly look forward to revisiting just to see that smile on her face when we walk in. All the other staff are also really friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The food is freshly prepared and is what I would call modern comfort food which you can eat in an area away from the main bar if you wish. In summary, if you ever come to Holmfirth and want to have a good pint or cracking food in chilled, non pretentious company with a Landlady who's second to non then this is the place! Excellent!

Came here for a beer on a crawl of the towns pubs. Couldn't believe it when I was told that a pint and a half of ALE was £6.10. This was £2 more than previous pub which also included a bag of nuts! Total rip-off prices that justify my bad review. They have a bluetooth music system which may be a good idea unless it's been taken over by large groups who insist on playing cheesy mainstream dance. One to miss.

Yolanda the bar owner is the perfect host, remembering names and peoples drinks. food and snacks are good and the fresh herbs grown outside that are used are a great touch fantastic atmosphere great staff come for a good night out .

Called in here for a drink whilst passing through Holmfirth. Lovely atmosphere, staff very friendly and drinks a reasonable price. Didn't eat but the food we saw being served looked and smelt amazing! Outdoor seating so perfect for summer. Also has a speaker outside where you can play your own music via Bluetooth, nice touch!

I have visited this venue on many occasions, the last being to celebrate my birthday in June where the food supplied for my guests was first class and as always a warm welcome was given to all. It is an excellent place to sit out on a summers day and enjoy a glass with friends

Nearly £7 for a pint and a half of beer and the half was given in a pint container but was only about a third full. It's not a restaurant either it's a bar that sells food and I think prices should reflect that. It is a very nice bar in a very nice setting and used to be good value when it was Hervey's bar but I'm speaking as a local, so if you are from further afield you may think it's fine so I wouldn't say don't give it a try.

What a lovely place to relax and have a drink. The owner was behind the bar and was so friendly and offered suggestions on gins and mixers. It's quirky with a good drinks selection, comfy and welcoming. Can't wait to return.

Stopped in for a beer and were delighted by the hostess and the snap of food....we shared some "dips" served generously with tasty bread strips.

2 drinks ordered, quick and efficient sat out side, time of day was early evening, outside heaters on the wall, what I thought was a great idea was a Bluetooth speaker you can connect your own I pod to great nice atmosphere, will go again spend longer next time.

Worth popping in if you're touring the pubs of Holmfirth. A few beers to choose from. A vibrant bar area and some varied seating mean there's probably somewhere for you to settle. Great outdoor space when the weather's decent.

Really like this bar, it was nice to have a choice to stand outside underneath heaters or inside. the prices are reasonable and it is a nice place to go for a pleasant drink

Manager/owner just weird aggressive woman, all I can say really! Other bar staff really lovely but she's an off put.

Love Y Bar! Friendly staff, good selection of drinks, cosy setting, and always a warm welcome. We are locals and visit regularly, but would recommend this bar to visitors of Holmfirth as you're guaranteed a good night.

Looking for something a little out of the ordinary? If so then this place is for you. As well as a full selection of draught beers and cider the owner is a positive magician when it comes to cocktails, if you can't see anything you fancy on the board then she will make it for you on the spot. It can get a bit crowded when its really busy but persevere, it is popular for a reason and it's worth it. In the summer time it is even better with plenty of seating outside. If you take your dog with you then water is also provided for thirsty hounds. Recommended.

Great bar. Yolanda is a whirling Dervish of a woman ! So full of energy and funny. She and her bar staff made us feel so so welcome. The locals were really friendly too. Ask for a pint of 'Mirky'....

Called in here for a drink and stayed longer than i should because what a friendly moden bar yolanda who as the bar is friendly out going and welcomes every one only problem was it was sunday and a work day monday ....shame will soon be back .....and u get cuddly throw if u want to sit outside worth a visit sadly not my local.

We stopped for a beer whilst the kids played outside. A great setting in the real heart of Holmfirth. The cocktail list looked amazing.

Not too many places in Holmfirth are open to eat around 4.00pm but this bar was. It's only a small place but lovely to sit in with the log burner and choice of small food.By small I mean flatbread with Houmus dips and tapas style bowls but at £10 for 3 dips and £10 for two tapas bowls there is plenty enough. I can recommend the spicy chicken and the chilli beef. We will definitely go back.

we called in for a drink while waiting for the doors to open at the picture drone we didn't try the food but others were eating and it looked good, the lady behind the bar (short blond hair) was very friendly we ordered drinks and took a seat by the wood burning stove very cosy the Theakstones barista stout was so good we had to have another 1st time in Holmfirth on an evening but we will be back and will defiantly try the food next time.

Visited here as part of our overnight stay in the village, and we thought it was brilliant. The choice of lagers was great and the prices were very reasonable. Lots of friendly chat and interaction with the owner, and was pleased that there was music outside, we will definitely be back in October

Used to visit in days gone by but never again. Terrible and unfriendly staff, especially the female manger who thought she was funny, in fact she was just rude.

Went out with the girlies for a gorgeous meal of delicious tapas a couple of weeks ago. Everything was perfect from the delicious variety of food to the service. Food was clearly freshly prepared and presented with pride!Thanks so so much we will definately be back for more

Just walked out after being ignored for 10 minutes whilst seating ourselves and the woman behind the bar bottled up. Then was shouted at from behind the bar across the restaurant that "you need to come to the bar, we don't have waitress service". It turns out you don't have any service nor any customers now. Well done. No wonder the place was empty. Now sat happily next door at the Old Bridge

This has been refurbished and now similar decor to other bars in Holmfirth. The food is well presented and very tasty. The layout I now easier to sit at the tables and has a good friendly atmosphere.

What looks like a quant bar/restaurant turned out to be a cold damp waste of money. The price of food is vastly over inflated for the portions and quality you receive. My advice... avoid at all cost!

Not only does it smell damp and it's cold, the manager seems to be something of a wise crack. £23 for 3 dips, a pile of burnt pitta bread, some horrible fatty soggy mozzarella 'dippers' and 2 pieces of what could only be described as 'make shift' bruschetta and a small bowl of chips which were said to be, on delivery, "the best chips in England". No hot drinks are served either. There is evidence of flooding on the tables too, they look grotty. Avoid at all costs! Horrible cold smelly experience and a waste of good money and my time.

Called in last night for a quick drink before meeting some friends. It's the first time I've been since new owners have taken over, and given it a much needed make over! What a difference...its bright, airy, rustic feel and a good warmth to it! I really liked it. Service was very friendly, and looked like a good range of ales and also some good pub grub. Will return with my husband on my next Holmfirth visit!

Called with friends. Quite busy for a Friday night. Good selection of beers and lager. Didn't have any food. Good space outside to sit out. Good atmosphere inside and even managed to find a table.

This is now our favourite bar in Holmfirth,it has a friendly and welcoming atmosphere from Yolanda and team, good background music that everyone knows, and just a really good buzz about the place. We ate here last night for the first time and it was excellent, we both had the steak, bacon and cheese burger, £10 each and comes with fries, salad and coleslaw. Also good beers and a really good selection of gins. Love that gin is served in jam jars!!

A great addition to Holmfirth. A friendly and welcoming atmosphere and the foods always fantastic. Steak night on a Wednesday is a must! Enjoy!

This is now my regulate haunt whether it be with my friends or hubby or kids - everyone's welcome at Y's Bar and Snap! The best steak and prawn dinners we've had in a long time 😊

Very tasty food,friendly and welcoming staff and great atmosphere. We had pitta breads with dips and sharing platters which looked and tasted fantastic. Wine selection was limited and not cheap, but the two types of wine we had were worth the money. Looking forward to going again and trying more of the sharing platters!

We'd been for drinks a few times and had started following the bar on Instagram, so had to eat here as all the photos of the food being served looked to die for. We weren't disappointed and have been a couple of times now. The sharing boards are great - good value and plenty of choice with other bits you can add like pitta, dips and chips. The food is presented attractively, cooked to perfection and tastes fab - nice to have a few different boards and tastes to pick at. The burgers also look great so will be trying those on our next visit. Had a lovely bottle of shiraz to complement the food too.

Just what Holmfirth needed, the sharing boards are great 2 dishes for £10 and a wide variety to chose from. All the food is fresh and very well cooked. Been for the steak night too which is excellent value for money and the steak is cooked to perfection with home made chips and onion rings, amazing food, lovely staff and brilliant atmosphere. I'm trying to find an excuse to return!! If you haven't already get yourself down to Ys I can guarantee you will be back.

Yet to eat here but will be doing soon as soon as possible now the kitchen is in full swing.
