Great food. Lots of gluten free choices. Atmosphere was friendly with the tiniest spooky edge.

Guy dissapeared as he was preparing the drink and said he had to get changed? 10 customers past me (10+ mins) while waiting for a single pint and a rum and coke cause my order was midway so none of his colleagues could pick it up

This was a great way to spend part of our Friday night while visiting Nottingham. The decor was really fascinating and made the atmosphere electric. We don't drink alcohol so we ordered non alcoholic ginger beer and had a great time experiencing this great place which happens to be really close to Nottingham's castle and the Robin Hood statue.

The oldest pub in the UK. We sat in the haunted snug. Brilliant pub with a great atmosphere selling good ale. We didn't eat this time but would certainly do so when we next visit Nottingham

Exceptional. A pub with the history and location of Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem could absolutely be a tourist trap and half-ass the food and drink and still turn a profit. This is another story entirely. The cask beer, steak and ale pie, chips, and dessert were all of exceptional quality. As an American who has been cautioned about the quality of English food, I went in with a sceptical attitude, but that was not needed here. I was unequivocally happy with what was served and think the pub can hold it's own in any question of pub fare. If I had to pick on something, I'd note that they don't have table service for food (or drink) and the bar gets rather busy on a popular night. But like I said, that's just something that would be different in a perfect world.

Food was exceptionally yummy. The special beef rib croquettes were superb, the onions rings had the perfect crunch and flavour. The crab pot with dill butter and sour dough was magnificent. The history and uniqueness of the pub was an added bonus.

Rumour has it that this is the oldest pub in the country. That fact is more disputed that than the ownership of actual Jerusalem.

The food is great, as is the service, however, trying to make an order here can be really difficult due to the cramped conditions and only one part of the bar being open.

The first pub, formerly a post station, dates back to the year 1180... The interior is from then.

This is a classic Nottingham spot that is famous for a good reason. Claiming to be England's oldest inn, it is built into the caves underneath the castle, giving it a unique and authentic atmosphere. There is meant to be records of a pub there since the 12th century. Particularly suitable if you are new to Nottingham or just visiting. The place is steeped in local folklore and history and has the traditional ales on cask to back it up. It's proximity to the castle and the robin hood statue also make it perfect for tourists. There food is high quality traditional pub food as you would expect from the more upmarket green king pubs. It also has a reasonably sized beer garden which is nice on a sunny day.

Excellent food, drink, and service at a historic pub! Lots of available street parking right outside the pub when we went (and more, including the pay station, up the hill).

Good soup! I suppose they’ve had about 1000 years to refine the recipe.

The merrit on this place is its age. 12th century! It was very cramped inside, but there was plenty of seating outside. Bar staff friendly and Dog-friendly.

A lovely old pub with lots of character and a welcoming feel. We were really hoping to settle in for a couple of drinks, but the beer was unfortunately warm—possibly due to cellar or cooling issues. Such a shame, as everything else about the place was spot on. Would definitely give it another try if the beer situation improves.

This is such a nice pub with lots of history. The drinks are quite expensive, it was nearly £25 for a pint of beer and 2 vodkas and coke. But I suppose that's what you pay for a touristy pub.

Cool place. The pub layout is quirky and cool. But the service is bad. Staff is rude and short tempered. We ordered the roast and everything is overcooked. They may have fired the plates in the kiln along side the beef, it was so over cooked..

Queue times are next level so decided to order on the app, waited 40 mins before i went to the bar to get the drinks to be told theyd already made the order and that no one was sat at the table? Yet we were the full time they never even tried to serve it then got mucky looked and slagged off by the staff in full view whilst were sat there drinking our flat peronis that they didnt repour. Was perfectly polite at the bar aswell. Such a lovely nice pub ruined by the useless people that work there.

Dinner April 2025. Very particular pub under Nottingham Castle with rock walls, various rooms and the possibility of eating outside. Friendly staff and good quality food. Prices high for an Italian, but average for English.

I dropped in here for lunch before visiting an old and dear friend. The food and drink was good although they could do with offering plain chicken bites not already dipped in source, and the service was excellent.

Authentic Pub to visit!! Quality: It has a variety of beers, of different qualities and for almost all tastes. Attention: They treated us normally, nothing relevant either for better or for worse. Atmosphere: The atmosphere is amazing, I recommend going upstairs to be able to explore the entire pub, all of us who went were surprised. Parking: It is not a particularly difficult area to park but I recommend taking a walk and exploring its surroundings.

Fantastic pub and atmosphere, food was delicious and the wine went down a treat, we were visiting from Sri Lanka but originally from Australia and met a member of staff called Tim who told us all about the history of the pub. It was very busy but he took the time out to chat with us and made us feel welcome even offering us a cellar tour if we could come back when it wasn’t so busy. Our visit was spoilt however when another male member of staff approached me as I went to the bar and informed us “to not listen to anything he has to say nobody likes him” he was clearly having a bad day but why he felt that was appropriate I’m not sure. If we are ever back we will take you up on the offer of the tour Tim.

This is a unique pub, located inside a huge stone cave. The ambiance is out of this world, you definitely travel back in time. This pub has a lot of history and is very old. The beer selection is great and delicious. Over the whole pub you can find beautiful details from the past.

What a fabulous pub for a Sunday lunch in the sunshine. Stacks of history, loads of character, great food, good beer and super company. Especially liked the idea of the Invisible Mac & Cheese. Look out for it on the menu. Thumbs up from us 👍

What a fabulous ancient pub! Excellent range of beers, some amazing food on the specials menu, and really friendly and professional staff. It was a really busy sunny Saturday, but the vibexwas really relaxed. Must go more often!

Very good food (Korean BBQ chicken burger) and very kind staff. It's quite quirky and is one of Nottingham's unique gems.

A very unique pub given the history behind it and it’s well maintained. Can accommodate a lot of people but given the old design, tall people will have to mind their heads. Staff is friendly and efficient and they do have a fair selection of beers. Didn’t try the food but did see a few great dishes being carried to other tables. A few parking spaces could be found along the street close by.

Staff are rude, was an empty bar and they were all stood chatting in the back. Ignored me completely and carried on talking amongst themselves, and weren’t very polite when serving, still talking to each other. The whole place also smelt damp.

Went in on a Saturday night, the bar was empty so my friend and I went and stood to be served...staff made eye contact from what appeared to be a back area, and all 3 of them made eye contact and saw us stood there and continued with their chat....completely ignoring us. Again, nobody else was waiting to be served...after about 4 minutes they decided to serve us, but came across as standoffish, however atmosphere was enjoyable and whilst the cider was pricey, its Town do we didn't mind too much. Was just a shame the customer service wasn't great

Vibrant old English pub. Set into the rock beneath Nottingham Castle. Very quirky and interesting. Good selection of beers and delicious good. Definitely worthba visit.

Verily, this alehouse is right good; the victuals were fresh and hot, and the ale most delectable.

Lager was a tad flat but loved it. Imagine a pub 900 years old built in to the caves!

Great beers and other drinks, never eaten there, so I can't comment. Sorry. Check out the haunted galleon and its history, worth it 👌 On a nice day, have a drink outside in the shade of the castle walls.

I was born in Nottingham but only recently managed to go for a pint! Lots of history around the place. A must for anyone who's visiting Nottingham

This place was so cool and literally was at the bottom of Nottingham Castle. We had lunch here. It was really old 1189 and spooky and way better than even the Castle itself. It's definitely a must visit.

Reservamos para el almuerzo del domingo 6 de nosotros para 3. 00 pm, pero llegamos allí y se habían quedado sin carne, 1 pollo y 1 asado de nueces para las 6 supongo que el menú normal estaba encendido, pero específicamente preguntamos por el almuerzo del domingo. Muy decepcionante para un bonito pub del viejo mundo. Ojalá hubieran dicho que probablemente se quedarían sin asados. No habríamos reservado.

Really recommend a visit if in town

Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem is one of the oldest pub in england. We visited this place and it was fully crowded and at last we got table for seating. It was in caves. I like the atmosphere inside and outside of the pub. Their crafted beers and old notes sticked to roof top at the counter was pretty good.

For the outside it really looks old , built in 1189 is considered the oldest pub in England and for the inside it looks more like a museum, didn't take so many pictures because there were a lot of people divided by the rooms eating and chilling having their beer so, we must respect those moments. The Guinness was top quality and the atmosphere of the pub was very good ! Worth a visit if you're in Nottingham searching for a pub .

Finished the town trail, so I simply had to call into the oldest Inn.

We visited Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem, said to be England’s oldest pub, dating back to 1189 AD, and it was an incredible experience! Nestled right next to Nottingham Castle, this historic pub is full of authentic charm, with its unique cave rooms and centuries-old atmosphere. We stopped in for a pint, and it was amazing to soak in the history while enjoying a great drink. If you’re in Nottingham, this is a must-visit for a true taste of the past!

We visited during our trip to Nottingham, and it exceeded our expectations. It’s a place that has truly preserved its historic character. The atmosphere is excellent. However, the food doesn’t match the atmosphere—it’s not as good, and there are much tastier and more affordable alternatives. My recommendation is to have a good meal elsewhere first, then come here to enjoy a beer and soak in the ambiance.

Amazing pub in the most unexpected place. The food and ale were delicious and the service excellent. After the meal, we had a look around all the rooms to see the cursed ship and the swords. Highly recommend! A place like no other!
