I booked a private area for friends and family the night before my wedding. The pub was fantastic. The area reserved was wonderful and the staff had gone the extra mile to decorate it fabulously. The drink, food and service were all first class. Everyone had a wonderful time.

It is a very old pub and very interesting to visit, It was horrifically busy when we went, and I had to force my way through the crowd to get out! I would highly recommend visiting if you're in Nottingham as it's a good rest spot after looking at the castle. Might be best to go during the week rather than a weekend due to the crowds.

It was lovely. Very busy and didn't book a table. The upstairs was reserved for a christmas party so limited space but the staff was very helpful and cheerful. It was very cosy when we got seated and felt the historic ambience of the place. The pints were really nice that we ordered and the food didn't take long to come. The food was absolutely delicious! Would definitely recommend to anyone.

Lovely busy, very old pub, but sadly the food is so mediocre. Had Sunday lunch here and apart from the home made Yorkshire pudding can't rate any other component of it high. Mean portion of weak, watery gravy, lackluster roast potatoes, apart from being very anaemic were dry. What's going on with the cabbage! Carrot rings not batons, cauliflower cheese? Don't know what happened to the sauce. Biggest disappointment was the mean portion of chewy beef. Won't eat here again but a great venue and drink, such a shame because we walked by all the food from around the world on the Christmas markets. Sorry chef but you can't cook a good old fashioned Sunday roast

We have been here before and we really enjoyed it. However went for Sunday lunch and we were disappointed. The Sunday roast with beef needs rethinking. The beef was dry, the roast potatoes were not good and the cabbage was just wrong. A quarter of a cabbage boiled and the flame grilled on the end isn’t what I want. Also the cauliflower cheese was disappointing. The 3 roast potatoes were a disappointment. They looked and tasted like frozen ones. I so hope that they weren’t. Second time visiting but this time alone while staying in a hotel the night prior to a conference. I returned because I enjoyed my last group visit and it was familiar to me. First time eating. Found a table as you need the number for orders at the bar. Steak and chips were both really tasty cooked as requested! Gravy charged separately. Lively atmosphere but didn't spoil eating. Rooms for all tastes. Steeped in history. Cosy upstairs, definitely haunted right at the top room, and I think I have another review on a year ago about the cursed galleon in a glass case. Has outdoor areas, and nooks. I would not recommend for people who cannot climb stairs for seating if downstairs was full. Popular. Thanks!
