Got charged £8.30 for a one pint of coke and one lemonade by a grumpy barman. Only noticed when checking my bank while walking down the road later. Thought I must have imagined it when glancing £8.30 on the card machine. Thanks for that! Was excited to show my partner the pub on a brief lunchtime visit but left feeling quite ripped off!

What an amazing place to go have a drink and see history first hand. Service was awesome and drinks on point. Food should have been left in the 11th century because that’s where it belongs. I only had the roast so can’t judge the whole menu but this is Englands national dish you would think they would get that right. Go check out the castle afterwards it was great.

This is where I drank real ginger beer for the first time. The place is really cozy, as expected. The surrounding area is also luxurious, it has a real medieval atmosphere. I love it. After a pint of beer, it is worth visiting the castle a few hundred meters away.

This is a gem, and a pub to put on your map of pub crawls and ale trails alike if you haven't already; great selection of beer (for a green king especially), nice menu, interior that gives a good ol' tavern feel to it, and as a bit of a unique element, a game of horn 🐮 (you can find out more inside...). 5 stars, this place was great.

Visiting the Old Trip to Jerusalem feels like stepping into a living history book. The blend of ancient rock walls and warm, inviting atmosphere creates a truly unique vibe. I particularly enjoyed the cozy nooks perfect for a quiet pint. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, making recommendations that enhanced my experience. Don’t miss the chance to explore the hidden corners of this gem—there’s a story in every shadow. A must-visit for anyone looking to soak in Nottingham’s rich heritage!

The staff that served me was rude and dismissive. I got an eye roll for saying (politely) that's enough ice please. I also asked for the mixer not to fill the glass and was greeted with the same attitude, and the drink full to the top. £14 for a single and a double and the service was appalling. If you don't like people, don't work in hospitality. The glass collector was lovely and smiley

We have been here before and we really enjoyed it. However went for Sunday lunch and we were disappointed. The Sunday roast with beef needs rethinking. The beef was dry, the roast potatoes were not good and the cabbage was just wrong. A quarter of a cabbage boiled and the flame grilled on the end isn’t what I want. Also the cauliflower cheese was disappointing. The 3 roast potatoes were a disappointment. They looked and tasted like frozen ones. I so hope that they weren’t. Not sure I’ll be back to the Sunday roast again.

Pub from before 1200! The food is typical English. The pie or the fish and chips are recommended, although if you want something different and don't know what to try, ask the waiters. They are very friendly. The interior of the place is curious, it is supported on the stone of the wall.

Second time visiting but this time alone while staying in a hotel the night prior to a conference. I returned because I enjoyed my last group visit and it was familiar to me. First time eating. Found a table as you need the number for orders at the bar. Steak and chips were both really tasty cooked as requested! Gravy charged separately. Lively atmosphere but didn't spoil eating. Rooms for all tastes. Steeped in history. Cosy upstairs, definitely haunted right at the top room, and I think I have another review on a year ago about the cursed galleon in a glass case. Has outdoor areas, and nooks. I would not recommend for people who cannot climb stairs for seating if downstairs was full. Popular. Thanks!

A very interesting layout for a pub, as it goes into the caves it becomes something of a labyrinth moving between different rooms. The Ye Olde trip to Jerusalem is probably the most famous pub in the world. I have been wanting to come here for over forty years. I finally made it, and I was not disappointed. There is an excellent selection of cask conditioned real ales, largers, and cider. The cask ales we sampled were in excellent condition. The traditional pub menu looked very good and we decided to have the steak and ale pie. The pie was fabulous the best I have had in any pub. The pub itself dates back to the early 1600s and is a warren of small rooms. The upstairs rooms have been cut out of the rock under the castle and are thought to date back to when the castle was built. The friendly staff encouraged us to explore this unique pub. It's a very popular tourist attraction, but more than that it is a great traditional English pub, with very good beer and excellent pub food. Highly recommended.
