Fat Hippo Nottingham in Nottingham

Went here as I’d seen pictures of the burgers online and they didn’t disappoint. Food was fresh and tasted amazing. I tried both the chicken and some of the beef burger my partner had and they were sublime. The chips had a great seasoning on them and the dips were only £1. The staff were friendly and efficient, and the music was at a suitable volume for a Friday lunch time. Definitely going to come back and try a different burger next time.

Sat upstairs with only 1 other table so no atmosphere but understandable as was busy downstairs. took 40 mins for mains to come after having a starter, had to get up and ask for cutlery for starters and mains and staff didnt come over to ask if we wanted more drinks/were ok/ had everything we needed. one burger was cold when brought out so we asked for a takeaway box for the whole meal. we were visibly disappointed but they didnt say anything. when paying we said about the long wait and was just told it was busy. no offer on how to make it better.

Lovely food and staff. Meal came very quickly and the lunch deal is great value. Not the first time coming and definitely won’t be the last!

First time here, not usually a burger person, but theirs are beautiful lovely meat, great choices for meat or chicken burgers, nice cocktails. Definately go again.

Visited Fat Hippo at Nottingham last night for my son’s 19th birthday. Staff were great and quick, food was delicious and didn’t wait long for it. Really enjoyed it. Would recommend.

10/10 service, 10/10 food, 11/10 milkshakes! Will definitely be returning! Seriously, give the banana shake a try - you will not be disappointed

Very good place. Good food and very good burgers, not a huge menue , but that's a good thing because what they do , they do it well. Drinks slightly prices. Good service. Would reccommend a visit if you want a decent burger. Not the cheapest , but you get what you pay for and it is worth it

Went here for an early dinner and it was fine. the vegan burger was a little chewy and the onion rings on burgers we're quite greasy, but it was an enjoyable meal with fast service and generally tasty food.

service was awful, about 4-5 members of staff stood around doing nothing most of the time, food took ages to arrive, they forgot one of our sides and still charged us for it, the chicken burger was… naassssty… bun was stale, burger itself was oily, chicken thigh was obviously a cheap cut of thigh meat, mine had multiple bits of string and bony bits. chips were cold hard and stale. soft drinks were tasteless/syrup needed changing… if you’re going to charge the prices you do, make sure the quality of food is up to standard.. sure if you want to take a great pic of your burger for instagram it’s perfect.. otherwise avoid !!! Atmosphere was very chilled, food was delicious especially the Born Slippy burger. Really stood out above everything. Happy with the service, all in all a very good experience

AVOID! We visited restaurant on New Year’s Eve, get an unprepared table without any cutlery or napkins. We placed an order and have been waiting for so long only to get a water after 30 minutes. Everyone around us was getting their orders but no one was really bothers about us. After 40 minutes or wait I ask what is going on with our order only to get told that we can place it now and be first in line. Horrible experience very poor customer service. Do not recommend at least you want to waste your time there.

This place was great! Great food, great atmosphere. The one thing that stood out the most, was the Service. A waiter I believes name was Maxwell. Was so helpful with his knowledge of food and fantastic manner, I had to try all that he suggested. I would recommend this place!!

Booked a table, but was turned away because they were fully booked, even though half the restaurant was empty at 3pm after peak lunch hours. Either way was a joke, or they were just pure racist.

I walked in expecting a FAT hippo however the hippo was just a little over weight, the kind of hippo that a bit of treadmill would help not nearly large enough to call FAT. However the quality of the food was phenomenal. We are in winter and for some reason everyone had forgotten that doors do in fact close as well as open. I was not the only person who shared this sentiment as a 3ft6 old lady came over and yelled at everyone waiting to be seated which I thought was an over reaction, clearly she was a little disappointed with the size of the mildly overweight hippo.

WORST experience I’ve ever had in my life of ordering food. My burger was tough and pink in the middle absolutely disgusting. Ordered through uber eats and didn’t get a refund for this either

If I could give this place zero stars I would. Me and my friend came in and there was already 3 tables of people seated and all but one were finished eating and left quickly. One table was a table of two waiting just as me and my friend were so I’m not expecting the wait time to be as long as it was. The table of two got their food relatively quick as they ordered just a small starter so then it was just me and my friend in the restaurant that were waiting on food, so as to why me and my friend waited 40 minutes for our food ( wings and chips and a burger and chips) I really don’t know. The service was poor, getting the attention of the staff was way harder than it should have been, and when we were speaking to them they just seemed like they weren’t trying to listen. I don’t understand how the service was so poor when at this time it was just me and my friend in the restaurant. The bell was ringing constantly and the workers were ignoring it, I actually had to ask the girl if she could go get our food and she still decided to do different things for a further 10 minutes before going to the kitchen. Our food came stone cold clearly from sitting in the kitchen for so long and they gave me the wrong fries. I sent it back and asked for an upgrade on my fries and to get the correct fries. After waiting another unnecessary 30 minutes my food finally came, they forgot to put buffalo in my buffalo burger so I had to ask for a pot of sauce and they gave me the wrong chips AGAIN but at this point I was so over it I just left it. Now the food looked great, but taste wise the chicken didn’t even taste like there was salt on it, it tasted like greasy chicken oil. The chips with the sauce and bacon was really nice but that burger really looked good for nothing. This was a truly disappointing experience.

We had a family meal booked for a wet Wednesday December evening we arrived early (25 mins) to be told our table wasn’t ready. That’s ok I said it’s wet outside can we just grab a drink while we wait for the table. The less than engaging gentleman on front of house had clearly missed the customer engagement training course! We were told we couldn’t stay and would need to come back at 6:30 , it wasn’t busy! So we left and walked into a better burger restaurant across the street. Very engaging pleasant staff and excellent burgers. We went to our online booking at 6:20 and cancelled our booking and spent our £150 across the street with your competition. Very poor experience

It was my first time going to Fat Hippo, and my experience was very pleasant. The waitress was very polite and friendly. Would recommend it to anyone who wants a good meal.

Unfortunately, it false advertising today in Nottingham Fat Hippo my burger didn't come with pork ribs. I complained and they said that pork ribs come with the burger. I'm very upset that they thought I looked like a slobber. I don't recommend it. The manager is a liar and I paid the normal price... fake marketing.

Amazing place, lovely staff nice atmosphere

Phoebe was an excellent waitress who took our order, it was served by someone else and dips missed but Phoebe sorted it when we called her over, similar thing with a missing drink which she sorted out ....the original missing drink arrived half an hour later and was sent back as we were leaving and had the missing drink sorted out. FH was very busy and all staff were friendly and regularly checked if things were ok....but Phoebe was able to deal with any issues quickly and efficiently, we would return as realise things happen when busy and this is not something that would stop us eating here again

My first time trying out Fat Hippo - it is well rated and the food looks awesome! We did not book and had to wait 30 mins for a table, but I can't fault that on a busy Saturday night. The restuarant looked clean throughout and the staff were certainly rushed off their feet. Service wise - we had Phoebe, can't complain at all, very polite and accommodating throughout, despite it being so busy! So thank you :) We ordered 2 starters: Cheese Balls: they were good, really crispy batter on the outside, inside is mozzarella. My only criticism is there could have been more ranch and hot honey sauce on them! Trash Browns: these were really tasty and saucy with a strong cajun taste. Both were big portions for starts and were filling. Onto mains: PB+JJ: very tasty but the bun was slightly dry. The chilli jello is fairly sweet but went well with the peanut butter. Had this with the loaded fries and they were really good! Fat Hippo: in my head, i expected the chorizo to be chunks that had been fried off, but it was a thin slice like you'd put in a sandwich, would have rathered chunks but it tasted good nonetheless! Had this with their 'hand cuts' which were seasoned well with a chip seasoning. Both burgers come with double patties - which were juicy but lacked flavour which is a shame because the whole experience overall was very good!

Recommended by friends and the restaurant was constantly busy and we had to book a table for later in the day ...welcoming atmosphere and had a lovely waitress called Phoebe who took our drink and food order, the drinks were reasonably priced and the Camden lager was really nice. Food came out and served by a waiter but the dips were missing, we asked a waitress for the dips and she advised she would get them,this did not happen and Phoebe sorted it when asked and we got the dips, a second drink was ordered but failed to materialise after 10 minutes, we asked a waitress if there was a problem? She said she would sort it, we ended up asking Phoebe if she could get the drink and she sorted it out and the drink appeared, 10 minutes later another drink was brought over so we advised we had asked someone else to chase the order and sent it back....the food was lovely, the staff were great and the place was busy so small setbacks are understandable and it would not stop us going back. The blue cheese dip was really good as were our burgers. Would we return? Yes

We visited Fat Hippo for the first time tonight and loved it. The food was brilliant and our waitress Grace was fantastic! She gave some wonderful recommendations which we will definitely be having again.

Rob was a blooming delightful server today; Chatty and helpful. In fact all staff were really helpful. Food was phenomenal. We don’t live close but will be returning ASAP with more family.

Ordered food kept pushing delivery times back until it was 3 hours after when it was supposed to arrive and refused to cancel or refund even though only the restaurant can cancel just eat orders due to "company policy" food never arrived.

It was very busy but we where taken care of very well maxwell was great and took care of all our needs and did great

The food was amazing, The best burger i have had!!! The issue's was that the service was slow. Stuff on the menu wasn't available like their own beer! We were taken upstairs even though plenty of room downstairs upstairs was very cold, dark, and damp.

Good food. Was busy when we went but I had booked. Took a while to be seated at our actual table. The team forgot to give us food menus. Once we did get them everything was smooth.

Booked a birthday meal for 4, was then told an hour wait for food on top of our booking time? They then advised we can come back in a hour for a further table but will be another hour wait, so we asked to keep the table and we would come back after 1 hour but was told this is not possible, so what is the point of a booking system which is not monitored and obviously isn’t correct, wasted journey, wasted time and staff were not bothered or accommodating, may as well be a walk in service as the booking system is not fit for purpose overall great experience

Ordered at 5.30pm, it's nearly 8pm now and still not arrived. Had a call from courier service at 7pm saying delivery guy was at the restaurant, but that's it. Absolutely terrible service, won't be ordering from just eat again. Want a refund.

Last two orders I made through Uber eats it is just a joke. Messy presentation, food arrives cold and soggy and on my last order there was a missing drink. It’s a shame as the burgers are really nice but will not order again even tho it was my favourite place.
