Worst burger I’ve ever had - way to salty

damn - come out of here 1 stone heavier. Food was immense, got a bit greedy lol definate treat venue to come back to

JUST GO TO HICKORYS INSTEAD We drove over 40 miles to try the red dog in Nottingham. We arrived an were seated quickly. The waitress came and took our order. This is when the issues started. So we ordered. After 15 mins the waitress comes back and tells me there's no chicken. (Why wouldnt you state this as people enter) anyway it annoyed me but I decided to order something else. Also they don't even have a soft drinks menu. So in essence they can bring you a lemonade and charge you whatever they want for it. But bavk to the food after a very short wait all the food was brought to the table. Remember I said the food came out quickly. The fries were stone cold they also brought us x2 mozzarella sticks when our order was 1 mozzarella stick and a mac n cheese. I called the waiter as the waitress had obviously gone to Narnia. He wasn't english(wish is obviouslynot an issue BUT) he looked confused as hell when I told him this is not what we ordered. He took the extra mozzarella sticks I.stead of just allowing us to have them. My partner asked for some salt. And that's when he decided to join the waitress in narnia because we never saw him again. The food wasn't anything special. But the mac n cheese was foul its just pasta in the funniest cheese sauce. My partners brioche was burnt. We complained about all these things at the time we were there stated we'd never com back. They offered us a drink to try and make up for it. That's when we decided to leave as I was gettin angrier by the experience and didn't want to cause any trouble. So overall just avoid this place completely. I have noticed they do reply to comments. But in absolutely no way do they try to offer resolutions. They just say sorry for your experience. Also £11 for a cocktail. And you literally sit in the window to see a sign across the road at another food establishment offering 2 cocktails for £10. Overall red dog saloon is shocking from the food to the staff to the management that will reply terribly to this.

We went for lunch in Red Dog Nottingham yesterday. Eaten here a few times over the years but this time it was awful. Food was ok, except for the burger which was under cooked and raw in the middle. No one came to check if the food was ok during the meal. At the end we were asked if the food was ok I mentioned the burger being uncooked, the waitress told me I was wrong without checking, ‘it’s cooked, the burgers come out slightly pink’. I appreciate a pinkish burger, but this was raw. Told they temperature probe it to make sure it’s cooked, ok fine but it was a 5mm thick burger, easy to misalign the probe and get it wrong in the kitchen, but nope, I’m wrong and no apology. I didn’t make a fuss or anything just asked for the bill. Next waitress came along and again told me I was wrong without listening to me, “Burgers come out slight pink” yes I know but that wasn’t slightly that was raw meat in the middle. Now I didn’t want money off the bill or anything just recognition that the burger was raw and an apology would have been more than enough. However nothing off the sort happened. Clearly at Red Dog the customer is not right. Off to Hickory’s from now on! So much better. Also cheaper!

A place with a lot of ‘hype’… We were really excited about our visit to Red Dog. Sadly it didn’t turn out to be what we expected. The best part of Red Dog Saloon is the service. That’s it. The service is great, friendly, welcoming and professional. I was really looking forward to my food. It was great don’t get me wrong but when your averaging £40 for burgers and fries, it’s seems extortionate. As some of the reviews do say, there are plenty of other options available in the area. Red Dog is a good option, but by far not, the best, option. The drinks however are very reasonably priced. There is ample Parking in the local area however this can cost a bit if you go above 4 hours. Thanks for my first - and most probably last - Red Dog Saloon experience. 💫

First time visiting after having a quick look for an American BBQ place. The food was amazing, although I was disappointed in not being able to try a platter to get a taste of everything they offer. Platters are for a minimum of two people and unfortunately I had no one to share with. Bare in mind that when you order a meal, there are no sides such as fries added, these you will have to pay for separately, so the cost soon adds up. The choices of desert is very small and unfortunately the desert that I went for was not very nice. The chocolate fudge cake was very dry, I would almost call it stale, but I think it had been sat in a fridge for a long time. Lastly, the thing that annoyed me the most and let me down for this place is the "service charge" of 10% The reciept claims the money for this charge, all goes towards the staff. Service charge is another word for a tip, I know this I American dining but we're in the UK, if I want to pay a tip, I'll decide to do that or not. It feels dirty having that forced upon me. Nowhere on the menu does it say that there would be one, nore did the waiting staff tell me there would be.

I know it was late on a Sunday but the food for the price given was not on at all. Over £40 for a burger and ribs on their OWN and two drinks. Not to mention the ribs were like a cheap meat that was 90% fat. Rodeo burger was cold and meat was like mush. You'd be better of going to the five guys round the corner as it's cheaper and the standards are always high. I feel scammed, I regret going and I regret even paying for that shocking meal. All I got was £8 knocked off the bill for that disgraceful meal, a joke honestly 🤣 felt like I was on a set for kitchen nightmares.

We decided to give this place a go last night as we walked past it a few times and I love a good smoke house and was having a date night. However it wasn’t really up there, the service with the staff I have to say is faultless really lovely people working there so 5* for service but the food however isn’t that great. We ordered the cheesesteak hotdog which was just greasy and not enjoyable however the chicken burger was nice but again just covered in grease it’s also quite pricey considering you don’t even get fries or anything as a side and that has to be ordered separately. We were also disappointed as we had especially travelled here to try the brisket but when we were about to order we was told there was no brisket along with half the other menu items which is why I ended up going for the cheesesteak as I had no choice. Don’t think we will be visiting again

Ordered delivery at 5pm to be delivered at 7. Order arrived at 8:50pm and just blamed third party delivery. Food arrived cold and the meats didn’t even come with BBQ sauce. Chicken burger was extremely spicy despite selecting no spice option. Called to complain and didn’t even offer partial refund just said I’ll let the kitchen know??

Absolutely perfect night had with friends. Had the shotgun assassin XL and it was faultless. Staff were all polite, friendly and helpful. Expensive yes but still value for money. Will be coming every time I return to Nottingham that's for sure.

I've wanted to come to Red Dog for a fair few year and we were incredibly let down, arrived at 6pm for a table and got seen to for orders really quick, no more than 15 minutes, but then waited 30/35 minutes for a barely warm cheeseburgers and fries, didn't even have time to complain about it as we had to be at the motorpoint arena by quarter past 7, honestly felt robbed of £49, so many better venues around the city. On the plus side the young girl that served us was so polite, dispite some of the attitude she was getting off other customers.

We had a table booked for 6pm for myself and my husband but decided to eat earlier which was easily accommodated by the staff. It was quiet there as few customers so service was prompt. Vegan options are limited on the menu but they were more than happy to accommodate this as I ordered the moving mountain burger. They just omitted the cheese and sauce. The food was great quality. Service was excellent. Nice relaxing atmosphere. We really enjoyed eating here and would definitely recommend. My only recommendation for improvement would be if there were more vegan options available. The only option was the burger. Id have loved a hotdog but they were all meat ones.

The customer service was very efficient. Nice and friendly. Our bill came to over £50 for 2 hot dogs and a drink. This was with service charge like we are living in the United states. The quality of the food was nice. Not £18 nice. But nice. Appropriate prices need to be applied here. They got some really good beers here for a pretty penny too. Its confusing how busy this place considering the prices. You can take in consideration of the concept of the slow cooked process that's involved. However it shows the mindless careless spending people can be and won't pull this expensive price to attention. I overall enjoyed the food but for the price. I will not go back in a hurry.

Always feel a bit mixed about this place. The burgers are pretty good although I do feel like they are a bit on the expensive side given you get nothing included with them, so once you've ordered fries you're pretty deep in the hole already. There's some other good options for burgers in Nottingham which I think are just as good quality if not better and without doubt a better value. My most recent visit I found very greasy compared to other visits I always really fancy one of the platters, but most (all?) are minimum 2 persons so need someone to agree to share so never been able to try one. Would be nice if there were platter options available individually for those that want to try a few bits. It's one of those places that if someone else picks it I'm happy to go, but I'd never really choose it myself or recommend it over the other options available nearby

The food was really good, nice chilled vibe at lunch time and good beer.

We went here yesterday, the staff immediately acknowledged us and were brilliant. We were seated quickly, we did make a reservation. One of our party has dietary requirements and were immediately given a chart with the ingredients in all food. We ordered burgers and brisket, the brisket was amazing. The burgers came and were not cooked in the middle, we didn't realise that this is how they're served. We had no idea this wasn't explained to us neither did we ask for them to be like this. This could be particularly concerning for someone who's pregnant or who has a weakened immune system like one of our party. We understand the ingredients / steak the restaurant use are of high quality and stringent measures will be in place however we know the risk isn't 0% and it just seems like an unnecessary risk to take without first informing the customers. One of our burgers seemed really raw in the middle, we highlighted this to the staff and they were amazing. They offered us a fresh burger or to take it off the bill, we chose the latter. The atmosphere was quite rowdy / loud probably due to the location being 8pm on a Saturday next to all the clubs and pubs. The price was fairly expensive and sides like fries / chips were not included. You had to buy them separately. Again this is probably because of the ingredients like the steak being of higher quality to try and prevent any foodborne illnesses from the medium / rare burgers. Ide also like to note the staff did offer to recook all the burgers thoroughly when we queried the pink centre of the burgers, by that time though it was too late and we'd already ate at least half. I asked for some ketchup and BBQ sauce, the BBQ sauce was a bourbon type, it was really nice! We would probably not go again just because with the price / atmosphere and food taken into consideration we could go elsewhere and have a better experience. The restaurant does look really cool, nice vibes and would really attract the customer it's aiming for, unfortunately that's just not us. Can't give the staff enough praise, got a great team working there 👍

Used to be good, but they just delivered an undercooked patty. It’s one of those thin ones too, so quite an achievement to undercook it.

Went in for lunch as I was eyeing this place for a long time and wanted to take my boyfriend there. We went in and stood there for good 10 minutes before approaching the bar and asking to be seated. After ordering an alcoholic beverage I had to wait another good 20 minutes for it. Finally we ordered food. The food was amazing I have no issues with the food. The meat was perfectly cooked and burgers were incredible. However that was the only thing that was incredible. The staff that was appointed to us looked like she didn’t know or didn’t want to do her job on that day, ignoring questions or pulling weird faces when questions were asked. I honestly felt uncomfortable by that attitude towards that customer. The other girl on the shift was very attentive and polite I have no issues with that.

We had dinner here on a Sunday evening and what promised so much, delivered so little. The food was greasy (even the buns had some kind of oil purposefully brushed onto them which meant your hands were covered right from the start), the portion sizes were small, the fries were crisped (am sure you know the sort…hollow crisped shells for fries), and in my opinion over-priced. We mentioned that the food was too greasy, when our plates were cleared away, but our comments were either not heard or ignored. A really disappointing experience both gastronomically and fiscally!

For a table of 7 two meals came out first then it was 20 mins before the next four meals two were incorrect, last meal and two side forgotten dispite server being reminded that they were missing three times got brought out 35 mins after everyone else had finished there food Two burgers ordered were wrong but were not fixed, one plate was chip and hurt one of the tables fingers Bill was given to table befor we had finished eating On bringing up the issues management was hostile and refused to accept that the service had been so poor and escalated situation multiple times Long story short worst service I have received in a restaurant to date and would not recommend eating at this venue

I have been here a few times before, and the service has been very good before. However, my recent visit was profoundly disappointing due to several service issues that left us perplexed. When we arrived tonight, our waitress took the order for our party of four. However, things took a confusing turn when the food arrived. One of the dishes was beef brisket, but the waitress insisted three times that it was pork rib. Despite our insistence that it was brisket, she maintained it was pork. After going back to the kitchen to check, she returned and said it was indeed beef brisket and that we had not ordered pork at all. This was highly confusing as she had just been adamant that we had ordered pork and that the dish was pork rib. We just wanted to enjoy the dinner so we left it. To make matters worse, she claimed that she had read the order back to us before submitting it to the kitchen, but this did nothing to clarify the situation and only added to the confusion with her inconsistent statements. There was no apology for the mistake, just a firm insistence that it was our error, despite the fact that all four of us clearly remembered the order correctly. The disappointment continued when it came time to pay. My friend asked to pay the entire bill in cash, which amounted to just over £200, including a £30 service charge that had been added without any consultation. My friend was short by just 13p and asked if this could be discounted (especially given the errors made). Shockingly, the waitress asked if he could pay the remaining 13p on card, which felt extremely petty and unaccommodating. Overall, the service during this visit was confusing, unprofessional, and disappointing given previous experiences. Given this experience, we will not be returning.

Absolutely terrible food and service 2 meals brought wrong and then not corrected food cold and extremely overpriced

Overpriced and very average. 4 people eating and didn’t hammer it but was still almost £300. Wouldn’t go again. Service was slow but not the staffs fault as they were good. Service charge was £25. We could have requested this to be taken off the bill but it was a drop in the ocean in relation to the overall bill. Just not worth the money unfortunately.

Came here with my husband for a spontaneous lunch out , really nice fresh food, lots of choice , very filling but if you ask for a box you can bring it home! Would return , good location.

Visited on Sunday and were the first in there, We were asked about any allergies, which is great, as we were seated. The two girls serving seemed nice. Before ordering we were advised the ribs wouldn’t be ready for another 20-30 minutes so we ordered the USS Oregon platter for 2 which clearly states what you get. Unfortunately after ordering we were told there were no pit beans and were offered either a Mac and cheese or another burnt ends mash. The food came really quickly and looked delicious. On first taste it seemed great, the brisket was lovely and tender, the mash was creamy and the extra onion rings were beautiful however, the pork rib was tough and fatty and only just cooked through, the shredded/pulled pork in the middle was also very very fatty with no real distinct flavour. The mash itself was nice but the burnt ends needed about another hour, I’ve never had burnt ends where I could actually see the fat, it’s usually all nice and dark and juicy. Towards the end of our meal we realised we hadn’t got the iced tea that the platter is advertised as coming with so when the girl came back to the table we asked her about it. She seemed a little confused at first then said oh you have to ask for it so it’s not wasted if we pour it!!! It’s paid for in the platter price of £32 per person so if we wanted to waste it that would be our prerogative. I advised maybe that should be stated on the menu then. I didn’t have any as I had finished my meal by then but my partner was given a tumbler of it and it was ok but should have been served with the meal. All in all we spent £90 and came away disappointed and wouldn’t recommend or visit again.

First time eating here and wasn't disappointed,the food was sooooo tasty and jimi was very friendly and helped us make fantastic food choices , can't fault the food or jimi , FYI food portions are big ,will definitely be back

We had food and drinks here on a Sunday afternoon, and I was blown away both positively and negatively... the service was excellent, and so was the food. We had a platter for two people, and there was SO MUCH FOOD! We had to take a doggie bag home, and the servers were very friendly and helpful, providing advice for my partner on what would be ideal... so why the negativity... well, when the bill came, it seemed overpriced £100 almost exactly for 2 people to eat, and we only had two drinks now I don't mind paying for good food. I really don't. I just feel the menu kinda pushed you towards a platter as the smaller plates came without sides... and the sides were expensive... £6.50 for a pot of beans seems crazy to me... they are, in essence, baked beans with meat dripping in them... like I said, I really enjoyed the food, and we left stuffed, but the price left us feeling a little ripped off... if I heard the price had been altered, I would definitely return and recommend... though at the current price, I think there are other BBQ places just as good at maybe half the price.

Loved it!!! Food was delicious. Server was personable and helped me pick my food and honestly she gave a great recommendation. Not a bad thing to say about it. We didn't book, just turned up. Really loved it. Only thing I would say was pudding wasn't worth it but that was just down to my taste.

Burgers are said to be served Medium but came to the table quite well done and very dry. It was nice after it was rectified but certainly not worth the price... the whole menu is just too expensive for what it is. Staff, however, are lovely. We went in the afternoon and found the atmosphere to be lacking; I can't remember the last time I've seen it busy. That was my very last visit. Sorry guys

Visited for the second time, took 4 people, the food and atmosphere was great. Really relaxed setting for a Saturday evening, ate and drank non stop for 2 hours. Good vegetarian selection for non meat eaters (not me) so everyone was happy. The oreo milk shake was top tier!

We love Red Dog Saloon! The burgers are authentic American Texas BBQ with generous portions, perfect for those who enjoy a hearty meal. While the prices are higher than most burger joints, the cost is justified by the portion size and exceptional quality. The restaurant itself has a charming ambiance, with dimmed lighting and decor reminiscent of an old saloon, making it a lovely place to dine.

The staff were great, the food was absolutely amazing. We had a peanut butter burger, hickory burger, general Patton, fries, mac and cheese, slaw, cheesecake washed down with a shake. It’s always a fantastic meal but you get what you pay for….. however only gripe which took the cherry off the cake was…. Flies….lots and lots of tiny flies in the restaurant and on the bar. We had to keep swatting them off the food. It didn’t deter us though as the food and service is so good. We will definitely go back.

Food and service was fine. But be warned, there are hidden "service costs" and a "tipping culture" which shouldn't be encouraged. Edit for reply: dropped another star after finding out you don't have to pay the service charge and we was not told this by the waitress, even after mentioning it wasn't fair.

great place in the centre of nottingham. we had megan as our server and she was so lovely and on it all night. good portions on the food and everything came out quickly, even on a saturday night. have been here once before for lunch and glad to say it’s still just as good for dinner

1st time here and won't be the last,food was superb and service was very good too. Wife had Philly cheese burger,they gave her the option of doubling up,she's glad she didn't,it was massive and packed with filling,it was gorgeous. I had the juicy Lucy sandwich,also packed with filling and bloody lovely it was,we both had the fries which are coated and really tasty. We both had dessert too,I had chocolate fudge brownie and the wife had caramel cheesecake (which was huge) both were really nice too.We had Elizabeth serve us and she was really nice. Definitely going back to try other delights and will highly recommend.

Been wanting to come to a Red Dog for a long time. Finally done it in Nottingham and it didn’t disappoint. The menu choices are great, the food tasted delicious and couldn’t fault anything at all. Alos the drinks were amazing and the staff really looked after us and were welcoming and lovely. Thank you again and we would definitely return 👍🏻

Very friendly staff, clean, delicious food but unfortunately a loud stag do arrived half way through the meal which ruined the experience and atmosphere and no one told them to be quieter even other customers were complaining but definitely would go again especially for the mashed potato with pulled pork and gravy they need to make this as a main course soooo good 👍🏻

Honestly terrible. Went for lunch got a platter between two (which was £65 and we thought it was £30 ish) wouldn’t have ever got it we knew was awful. Half of it was horrible. £140 for lunch for 2 people feeel like we been robbed for average food

Food wasn't great I ended up in hospital due to not being able to breathe after eating there. The fact that everything is cross contaminated for allergies should be told before ordering drinks as we'd have gone somewhere else.

Incredible food, definitely cured my craving of a proper smokehouse. I visited twice whilst in Nottingham, and would 100% recommend the long horn rib, or if you're very hungry, the platters to share are brilliant 👍

Have wanted to come eat at red dog for ages, but unfortunately a complete waste of time. 5.50 for stone cold fries is a crime. The fried pickles were soggy, hot wings came out with no hot sauce, all of the other sides and mains just tasted burnt but not in a nice smokey way. Whatever your frying your food in probably needs the oil changing as the taste is really quite bad. Service was okay but not worth the 10% Won't be back, £130 down the drain. Will stick to hickories, far better food and service

Really quiet when we visited, which suited us. We were offered the choice of sitting in the restaurant or in the sports bar area, and we chose the restaurant. Loved the playlist when we were there, really added to the atmosphere of the place. Our server was lovely, really friendly and attentive, and we had a pleasant chat with him whilst paying our bill. The food was good, massive portions so you won’t need a starter! We shared the New York Platter and were unable to finish it, altho you can take it away in a box.

I have ordered big burgers multiple times and they’re perfect best burgers bar far I actually get excited to eat them but went in for lunch for a change and I got 4 thin small slices of brisket for £18 that is very disappointing, we was thinking of coming in a couple of weeks for our anniversary meal but I think we will look at other options now, I never write reviews and actually made an account just to write this review because of how disappointed I am with what I got

Amazing food. Our burgers were full to the brim, the fries were generous, and the service from Rosie was excellent. An added bonus was being able to get a real ranch dip!

Initially attracted by the seating outside in the mid day sun we stopped for one drink but we're enticed in by the smell of the food. We had a burger each. He had a peanut butter burger and rated it 4/5. Veggie options were limited but I opted for a beyond meat burger and rate it 5/5. Chips were also very tasty. We also had the banana desert 5/5. Staff were friendly and approachable. Would visit again 😊

Truly enjoyed our time here, the food was amazing and hot, there was a great selection of drinks available, guttered there was no Mac & Cheese but I’ll have it next time. The staff were amazing also our server Courtney was so sweet and lovely to talk to. She made our experience worth every pennie. Would definitely recommend a visit if you’re around the area. Definitely coming back in the future.

Me and my boyfriend eat here last night, and WOW definitely wasn't disappointed. The food was amazing and could not fault anything about it, the meat was cooked to perfection.....the service was great, Lizzie was our host for the evening. She was friendly and very helpful. Despite some bad reviews, I'd definitely try this place as it was amazing.

Had such a good time at red dog saloon! The food was amazing and Sophie our server was excellent, always checking in on us, very efficient and friendly.

Previously a 4, and then we went back a 2nd time and the place is excellent. Food is great, service is excellent and love the relaxed atmosphere. All the TV screens are a bonus for watching sport. We'll definitely be back next time we visit Nottingham

I came into the restaurant for dinner over the weekend and the service provided by Kaylah was excellent. She made sure I had everything I needed and I will definitely be returning again.

Popped in with my son on Saturday as we were passing. We both had the Bouffalant Burgers which were beef patty and fried chicken with all sorts of sauce and toppings. Definitely up there with the best burgers I’ve ever had. Our server Kaylah was lovely and very attentive. Already planning our return visit.

An unpleasant experience after having been really looking forward to this meal, we love an American/bbq restaurant but this is the most underwhelming and disappointing place by far. £19 for some brisket and the most measly portion arrived at our table. No sides are included either, another rip off. No server came up to us whilst we were eating to ask if everything is ok/offer to get sauces etc so we had no choice but to wait until we had finished to say anything, which we did but obviously nothing was done and she didn’t really seem to care. This is an American style restaurant not fine dining, but the portions and prices suggest otherwise. The tip is then automatically added onto the bill so you feel obliged to pay. Will not return or recommend.

Great service from Rosie and Jimi here today at Red Dog Saloon. Would recommend this place for lovely burgers and shakes. Ample parking nearby.

Great place to dine - great burgers & excellent service from Kaylah. She was attentive & couldn’t help enough. Only downside, the burgers were huge & we ended up ordering too much!

Probably the best burger I have had the brisket was like butter amazing! Kaylah who served was very friendly and have us fantastic service. Definitely will return.
