I’m not one to leave reviews on places I’ve been but I have to for this. Such a lovely, welcoming and cosy place. The food was absolutely incredible. My partner had a lamb shank and I had the pork belly. Unbelievable! Our friends who we went with had steak and chips. Proper chips! Haven’t had them like that for years. Chef was super friendly and made us feel at home. A very cosy bar and friendly staff. Definitely coming back here again!

They don't make them like this anymore. The bar area was traditionally small and cosy. The ales and food were brilliant, I highly recommend the lamb shank and bread & butter pudding. The chef was extremely helpful and even explained how he locally sourced and cooked some of the dishes.

Quaint old pub with huge history going back to 1767, it’s a proper ‘old pub’ with traditional values, great beer but the food will ‘blow you away’ we had Queen scallops from the specials board, they were cook to perfection with the most amazing sauce and gorgeous mash. Don’t be fooled by the small frontage, there a restaurant area out the back to sit 20+. Dog friendly, everyone friendly, definitely coming back

The Tavern is a tiny untouched gem of a pub - with a friendly welcome and a bar full of locals. We go regularly, but last night we tried the food for the first time. It was delicious ! It was extremely good value but didn't lack ambition for all of that. My husband had chicken with port and stilton and I had pork steak with stilton and apple. All served with mustard mash and a selection of vegetables. Simply cooked but great flavours.

A very lovely, warm and cozy pub. Quaint and traditional decor with log fires. Served by friendly staff, including the chef who came out to check on our thoughts of the food. The food is gorgeous - we had the pork chop special, lamb tagine, steak, gammon & egg, cheeseburger and ham, egg & chips between us. All was cooked to perfection and served beautifully with good portion sizes. Delicious desserts too. We are holidaying in the area but we would love to come back sometime in the future if we are nearby.

An interesting pub to visit, it's old, 19th century, small, quaint and has plenty of character. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Wow! Visited here today 06.05.23 with family. I have to eat gluten free and couldn’t believe the options available😋 I wish I had taken pictures, but the food was that good that I didn’t stop to take. We were a party of 6 and sat comfortably in the bar area. We were served by Maureen who was very welcoming and friendly. The food was so fresh, plentiful and a great price. Mark the chef certainly knows his stuff and it was a pleasure meeting him. I have to say it’s the first food establishment that I have visited where the pasta and batter is gluten free as standard. ( fish, onion rings etc) I was even able to eat the garlic bread. The biggest surprise was that my favourite dessert was also on the menu and that too was gluten free - Rhubarb crumble and custard! Needless to say I had a three course meal and I’m writing this review after needing a nap😂 I’m not local to the area unfortunately and wish I could have returned to sample the Sunday lunch. Once again, gluten free Yorkshire puddings are available as is gluten free gravy, along with a choice of three different meats and a good selection of vegetables. Well done Maureen and Mark. I will definitely be back to sample your Sunday lunch next time I am in the area. If you could stock a selection of gluten free beers that would be fantastic but the wine did not disappoint. Thank you and hope to see you again soon👏👏👏 Angie

Saw the reviews when visiting the area. Tiny little pub that would be easy to miss if driving past. Very friendly welcome. The food here was outstanding. All freshly cooked. I had cod and chips. Best tasting I've had in a very long time. Cod was huge piece of fillet, chops were home made, peas sweet. Hubby had the steak and all the trimming. He said it was delicious and tender. The portions were big. So much so, we couldn't fit in any desert unfortunately. However, they looked delicious too. Chef came out of the kitchen so we were able to thank him. Highly recommended this pub especially with real ales. 10/10.

What a smashing little pub this is, you don't get many like this anymore! From the outside you can very easily walk past it and not even notice it's there, it just blends in with the houses around it. It has a bar to the left hand side and another room on the right. Both rooms are small so don't turn up with a party of 30 people! Both rooms also have lovely open fires blazing in the winter. They've a good range of real ale for such a little pub and a great selection of whiskies too. Maureen who runs the pub is a really lovely lady, down to earth, and greets you with a smile and friendly chat, just the way I like it. I almost feel like I don't want to leave this review for fear of giving away one of Kington's best kept secrets, but it deserves every one of it's stars. It's a cracking little place.

We'd not made a booking and dropped in for a beer, on the off-chance that we might be able to eat - there were initially eight of us, so we weren't holding our breath - the landlord enquired with the kitchen and surprisingly, there was a table available for us. Before eating, we sampled the excellent beers on offer in the tiny bar, and in the interim period, our numbers swelled to ten, which again only met with positive responses from our hosts. The food was well-presented, the quality and quantity were spot-on, and our waitress attentive. This is clearly an establishment which is prepared to go that extra mile, our only regret is that we do not live close enough to Kington to visit the Tavern on a more regular basis. Many thanks to the proprietors for their hospitality, and for their accommodating nature - oh, and I almost forgot to mention that you won't need to shell out mega-bucks for the privilege of spending an evening eating and drinking at Ye Olde Tavern!

Gorgeous meal, gorgeous staff, gorgeous company. .... it was a gorgeous night seriously though, I couldn't fault a thing. I assumed we'd be eating in the very small but quaint pub, but we were called through to a lovely room out through the garden which was so unexpected; a complete contrast to the pub, a lot more modern! All the meals were delicious, I especially loved the herb infused Halloumi. Between two of us, we had 2 starters, 2 mains, 1 dessert, 1 bottle of prosseco, a dissarono and lemonade and a pint of ale, all for a respectable fifty-odd pounds .... bargain!!
