Stopped by this place whilst in the area so glad we found it. Not your typical cafe decor but well worth a visit. Food itself , was a very generous potion , hot & freshly prepared with local ingredients . One of the best full English I've had and excellent value , could not fault it .....

Stopped here en route to the Midlands from the Gower. We wanted a bite to eat near Symonds Yat Rock and were put off of the local pubs due to very high prices and varied reviews. The Potting Shed had fabulous reviews, an eye catching, easy to navigate web site, interesting menu and reasonable prices. We booked a table, as advised on the website, and were cheerfully greeted by Shelly. We ordered tea for two, which came in beautiful, china crockery, pea and ham soup, broccoli and stilton quiche and a ploughman’s. The soup was delicious; flavoursome and fresh, served with a warm, crusty white roll and Welsh butter. The ploughman’s had plenty of quality cheese and a rich, homemade fig relish. The quiche had lots of stilton and chunky broccoli. Scrumptious. Both came with salads that were fresh, tasty and absolute works of art. Chef Paul is a wonder. Shelly was kind enough to answer all my questions about the fascinating building and beautiful surroundings and we left, both of us, determined to return to sample more of the menu. Lucky locals to have this gem on their doorstep. Thank you to Shelly and Paul for facilitating the perfect end to our mini break. We can’t wait to return to The Potting Shed again. The view from Symonds Yat Rock was breathtaking, by the way.

Very quirky. Friendly staff. My Dad had the Smoked Tofu pie, which he raved about. My Mum and I had the Saugage Wheel, which in all fairness was OK. It was a little overcooked and a little skinny for my liking. Overall the experience was OK.

What an absolute treat this was.i love it and if able to would make it my primary eating out experience! The decor and ambiance is whacky and wonderful, crafty and creative which is just my taste. It originally was a community reading Rrom for the community in 1850s so has many original feature. It is apparently the home of the couple that run it and the comfortable settees set around a wood burner is apparently their lounge. They originally were a gardener and painter and decorator in their former lives but have developed this restaurant from their hearts - cooking fresh from what is delivered and only catering for the number that they can manage between the two of them as they have no staff - so for this reason they prefer to be alerted in advance as to diners, and to the meal orders. We were casual diners and were lucky to be accommodated as they turn away people when they have reached as many as they can cater for. The food is beautiful - not only in quality and taste but also presentation. The welcome was warm and friendly to the point that I would like to count her as a friend I could go and share a glass of wine and cosy chat with. I only wish I could remember her name - on the website she talks about Paul her husband but there is no mentions of this wonderful ladies name! (Was it Aylsa? - probably not!! I’m just not good at remembering names anymore 😏) Anyway - thank you for a wonderful experience!

Beautiful restaurant in a historical reading/coffee room created as a gift to the village. Lovely couple run the restaurant with husband in kitchen and wife front of house. Good selection of food / no kids menu but a flexible arrangement for a meal to be shared between our two children. I enjoyed the meal immensely - tasty, hot and full of flavour - nicely presented. We will be recommending to our friend in Hitchin who visits nearby Abergavenny on a regular basis. Thank you and good luck.

Beautiful building with a gorgeous interior but unfortunately that's about as good as it got. The lady who greeted us (looked down her nose more like) was very unwelcoming and barely cracked a smile. I found her to be very rude. We booked our meal for 13.15 and we got through 2 courses by 14.20 and when we asked about the sweet menu the ladies response was*I'll have to check the time"... I'm sorry but that's not how you run a hospitality business. The lady had the charm of Basil Fawlty. The food was ok at best with a very high price for what we had. It's such a shame because the building is gorgeous. In my honest opinion. 10/10 for the venue 6/10 for the food 1/10 for the service.

My wife and me had breakfast yesterday (7th August) and it was nothing short of terrific. As far as fry ups go it was very generous and exceptional quality. I personally haven't had a better breakfast in a long time. The proprietor was lovely and chatted to us, and what they have done with the restaurant is beautiful. Excellent breakfast with good quality produce which was perfectly cooked and served piping hot. It makes such a difference when the plates are properly warmed - a small but important detail. It is this attention to detail that sets The Potting Shed apart from many others. Service was faultless. We’ve visited this restaurant again after a lovely walk at Yat Rock. It was a sunny and warm day, we sat in the garden with our dog for lunch. Inside is cosy, especially on a rainy/winters day! I ordered (again!) the sausage, mash and onion gravy main dish, whilst my partner had the steak pie, mash and seasonal veg. Delicious!! It was piping hot, the sausages were very good - tasted as if they were locally sourced (unsure if they were) the gravy was homemade and full of flavour. My favourite dish! The pie filling was plentiful and lots of vegetables on the side - which they may have been grown in the garden! The portions are brilliant - great for starving walkers! The menu is traditional British food made well! You can choose 3 courses here or just a hearty main course, which was perfectly big enough for us. We highly recommend this place, it’s great homemade food, lovely atmosphere, fantastic service and great location. Dog & Child friendly!

Absolute gem of a place with passionate, and knowledgeable service, eclectic surroundings in a beautiful location. The food was outstanding , home made, and with proper gravy and an extra jug without even being asked, Varied menu which seems to change often, and sourced locally...

We visited last night for a party celebration, the food was absolutely beautiful, the pub is very cosy and the staff are absolutely fantastic. We will definitely be returning. Loved how with your main meal your 1st drink was included from a selection they had available. If you haven't visited you must give this little gem a go.

I suppose I'm a bit biased as this is my local. But it is a traditional family run pub and tea room and bookshop that does food as well. Like Sunday lunches. It's a good family pub, the puddings are amazing, all cooked on the premises, not like some where they are bought in. And the atmosphere is welcoming.

Very kind and polite staff, lovely fish and chips that were more than generous with their portion sizes. I look forward to returning next time I pass through Hereford.

We are blessed to have this fantastic pub/restaurant/b&b on our doorstep. Superb food, lovely welcoming staff, dog-friendly, great value for money and excellent ales. It ticks all the boxes and more. PS, the salted caramel ice cream is to die for! 😉
