I suppose I'm a bit biased as this is my local. But it is a traditional family run pub and tea room and bookshop that does food as well. Like Sunday lunches. It's a good family pub, the puddings are amazing, all cooked on the premises, not like some where they are bought in. And the atmosphere is welcoming.

This place was amazing. Such a hidden gem! We left Hay-on- Wye and were looking for somewhere to eat when someone working at a local cider shop recommended this place for a late lunch. The food was absolutely amazing, it was home cooked food. The cakes were amazing as were the homemade jams. We spent time browsing all the books, as well as having a late lunch. The staff were ever so friendly, welcoming and really patient. The very kind lady who served us commented how polite our young boys were and gave them a gift. They were so surprised that they have not stopped talking about the kindness they were shown to everyone since they have got home. I told our sons that manners are really important and look what an impact you've had; very motivating for them There are some very kind, nice people still in the hospitality sector. This place was such a brilliant find. I wish we had somewhere like this in our home town. I would be there all the time. Well done to the staff for everything you do; the food and service was amazing. Thank you!

What a brilliant place for Sunday lunch - just like going home for a family meal. Most of the diners knew each other and it was such a welcoming atmosphere. The lady who served us was really helpful and especially kind to the children, who had extra servings of Yorkshire pud because they loved it so much. There's also plenty of parking and the restaurant was cool, even on a very hot day. Thank you so much for making this a family lunch to remember.

Only managed it again last week and had a great cooked breakfast even tho it had gone past the serving time they kindly served it to us. Lovely place. So interesting and quaint. This place is unusual but why not combine cafe, post office, pub, bookshop and plant shop into one to provide an absolutely brilliant service to a small, beautiful Herefordshire village? We had the best full English, with the most lovely welcome, prior to doing the next section of the Herefordshire Trail; best start possible to a brilliant day. Come to sunny Herefordshire and eat here then walk it off in the stunning countryside; you won’t regret it.

To be honest, I really didn't know what to make of this place.... We'd been travelling, it was dead on noon, the weather was half-way between bad and awful. We'd both had a large breakfast only 3 hours before, and all we wanted was a coffee and a sandwich..... But the lady serving, bless her, was trying to all but push a 3 course lunch on us.. We finally got a pot of coffee for two, and a tuna sandwich.... and a very good sandwich it was too... Now, we were at the cafe end... Finding my way to the loo, it turned out this place was a massive 2nd hand book shop.... which also had a bar at the other end! What an amazing, if a little strange set-up. Oh, the lovely lady serving managed to push a slice of cake each on to us.... One or two other things about this place made us laugh.... the window in the gents was plane glass over looking the street, and the light has a timer on it.... I guess at night time, if you're sitting down too long, you'll be left in complete darkness!...lol. Certainly won't forget this place in a hurry!

Having looked at their small, plastic but extensive menu with “homemade” this and “homemade” that we had reservations about the quality of the food. We needn’t have worried. We only had gammon, egg, chips and peas admittedly but it was freshly cooked and very nice indeed. At first we were the only people in the place but it soon filled up and many were regulars welcomed by the staff. Looking at their food too I can only say everything looked very good. The staff were friendly and attentive but not intrusively so. We would certainly return.

We visited today when passing through, after visiting the toilet before ordering, I was struck by how dirty everything was, including the toilet which looked like it hadn't been cleaned in weeks. Even the floor in the dining area was dirty. Then there was the smell of burnt fat which pervaded our clothes and hair. I didn't feel lucky, if the toilet and floor was like that what was the kitchen like? As they say in the tabloids, we made our excuses and left without ordering.
