Ye Olde No3 in Cheshire East

Called after seeing the place had changed hands, much cleaner and brighter than the last visit. Great menu choices, the 'Out of Africa@ experience is marvellous, the seafood incredibly fresh and the steaks you cook at your table on a hot stone. We all enjoyed every dish we had and would not hesitate to call again, would definitely recommend the establishment to anyone.

I’ve just been for a meal for dinner, 02/08/2024 The meal, service and the whole atmosphere was 10/10 I had the ostrich and Zebra steak! They were amazing. I also enjoyed the way I got to personally cook them on the stone myself. This enabled me as the customer to cook it the way I liked. I would definitely recommend for a family meal, as it’s a great experience to cook the meat yourself. I’m definitely coming again!

Amazing food fresh cod in batter with chips it wasn't even on menu they accommodated us the fish was fresh, desserts were to die for, this place is fantastic!! An old English pub on the canal, loved it, will be back lots of times !

Went today with my Mum and Daughter. Food was excellent really good portions. We were full no room for pudding, however got 2 puddings to take way. Will definitely be back

Called in here while looking for some lunch. Quite a spectacular lunch menu with lots of exotic choice of steaks. We only wanted a light lunch but ended up with 3 courses. The food was delicious and the owners were very friendly. We will come back again soon and try some more of the menu. Price of the food was spot on.

I have been coming here on and off for at least 4 decades and this is the first time I have felt the need to review. The service was slow, possibly because the chef was sat working it with shall we say people more well known than us. We ordered 2 roast beef and 1 chicken Sunday roast. Overall the food was excellent, but the roast beef was terrible, it was fatty and tasted like processed meat. If this is a "local" pub who considers serving Kangaroo, Ostrich and Zebra as the norm, they should surely revisit the roast beef basics.

Great for a tasty Sunday lunch. We were on a narrowboat holiday so were able to moor and call in. Fresh and tasty meal with plenty of vegetables. Nice nut-roast option. Disappointed that the beetroot wellington option listed on the menu is not available.

absolutely amazing food.could use with a bit of music to brighten up the atmosphere as it was a little quiet. Such a shame not many people go there. Will be recommending to friends and family!

Sunday lunch really disappointing. Roast dinner. Only thing that was roasted was Yorkshire pudding burnt. Will not go again.

Chicken Carbonara tasteless. Chicken tasted like Quorn. Needed seasoning. Steak pie excellent. Lovely staff. Bluebadge parking.

A great meal and staff lovely, not very busy but after visiting will definitely be returning, cheese and onion pie very good, home made chips, nice steak pie and fish and chips was great too. Would highly recommend a visit.

Ate with family, we all had three courses and everything was delicious. Fantastic quality and presentation was beautiful. Service was fantastic and the pub is beautifully decorated for Christmas. Will most certainly be back.

The food was really nice. All home made. I had the lasagne from the specials board, which was very tasty. My partner had a burger, and my daughter had nuggets band chips. All reasonably priced. The staff were friendly and attentive. Will be back.

Cute countryside pub with a little kids play area too. We had roast dinners. I had the veggie option and it was delicious. Kids enjoyed their meals too. Plenty of options on menu including options for veggie/vegan. Staff really friendly and helpful I would go back for sure. Thanks guys.

We’ve been waiting for Ye Olde No.3 to reopen and wow, still gorgeous food ( we ordered vegan lasagne & a cheeseburger ) the staff are really friendly and inviting, over it’s got a lovely old pub atmosphere. It’s also lovely to sit in the beer garden, credit to the team at Ye Olde No.3

I was so pleased to see the Ye Olde No 3 was open again so decided to give the new management a try. There was ample free parking with none of the "put your registration in or we will fine you £60 hassle". The place was nicely refurbished and very clean. We were welcomed straight away and our orders taken quickly. Whilst we were eating the staff checked everything was okay. I had the honey and soy chicken for starters and it was absolutely delicious. For main I had the mushroom and stilton bake which was so nice I asked for a spoon so I did not miss out on any of the sauce. My companion had a steak and ale pie and enjoyed every mouthful. Serve was quick and friendly and the food piping hot. Definitely on my list for places to go to eat with friends. One small issue, I felt the loos, whilst clean, looked a bit shabby compared with the rest of the establishment.

My wife and I were passing looking for somewhere for lunch and saw the pub was open (we had been told it had closed down). Charlotte the manager was most welcoming. We ordered our lunch which consisted of creamy garlic mushrooms entree and small fish and chips for my wife whilst I had the salt and pepper squid entree and the sea bass for main the chef Frank excelled himself both in quality and presentation. I would highly recommend Ye old No3

We were full of optimism having read the recent reviews and yes the staff were lovely and the roaring fire on a winters day was so enchanting but it was spoilt by the food - lovely sausages but look warm potatoes and veg - we didn’t complain because everything else was so nice - we are just being honest and hopefully helpful because there is so much competition in the area and we would love for the nice people to succeed

We called in for a mid-week dinner. Absolutely cannot fault it at all. Everybody was so friendly and the food delicious. I would definitely recommend. We're looking forward to trying out the Sunday breakfast soon too!

Visited today after a day out in Chester. Had the most amazing Ciabatta with Prawns (I had a half portion, hence the pic), followed by Mushroom Tagliatelle, the food was deliciousas was the coffee. Lovely traditional pub, cozy, welcoming, friendly staff.

We stopped here twice on our boat trip as the water point is just outside the pub (rather handy!). The staff were great, the place was nice and clean and the food looked nice although we didn't eat unfortunately as we had other plans.

Due to the lockdown Amanda isn't allowed to open what is probably one of the best country pubs in the area.Really missing the place and can't wait to get back there for a a superb meal washed down with a glass of chardonnay and apple juice.

We were meeting friends who were on a narrow boat, on the Bridgewater Canal. They were able to moor next to the pub.We were in a Motorhome. There was plenty of overnight parking near and at the pub. . There was a good variety on the menu and we were all happy with our choices of starters and mains. I had the ribs starter, which was excellent and the jerk chicken main, moist and spicy. One beer on hand pump. The staff were very pleasant and attentive. A nice surprise when we found out that on that night the mains were 2 for 1. Would definitely go again.

We booked a table with no hassle, we were shown to our table on arrival. The staff were very professional and helpful. We ordered and our food came without much waiting time. We both had steak and it was cooked just as we wanted it - perfect.Then we stayed for a couple of drinks and the karaoke. The staff and locals were all very welcoming and we had a fantastic night! And at very reasonable prices.We will definitely do it again.

My husband and myself had lunch here today after a walk along the canal. The Special Meal Deal is excellent value and has a good choice for all 3 courses. There was a good atmosphere and the service was excellent too. We both had liver and onions for our main course which was very tasty. My husband chose Creamy Rice Pudding for dessert and I had Jam Roly Poly both of which were delicious. We would recommend the pub and food and will definitely be visiting again.

My family ate here last Tuesday night, our food was generous and very tasty. There was something on the menu for each of us, tasty curry and filling burgers.The locally sourced steaks were delicious and excellent value on the two for one deal between 6 and 8pm.There was a fire in the grate and we were made to feel very welcome by all the staff.Once we worked out that food orders were placed at the bar service was quick and friendly.

Visited the Old Number 3 for a meal this evening with my husband. We both chose the lasagne, salad and garlic bread. Service was very prompt and the food was hot and tasty. We decided to have a sweet and chose the Sticky Toffee pudding which was gorgeous. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. We will certainly visit the pub again for a meal.

Sunday Roast was the order of the day and came across the Ye Olde Number 3, whilst heading elsewhere. Comfortable surroundings, good prizes and exceptionally tasty food. Will definitely visit again and happy to recommend to others.

Was driving by and decided to stop as we were all hungry. Food was lovely, from the kids meals through to the steak burger. Food was hot and presented well. Service was great, v friendly and the kids made to feel welcome.

Went in 9th, for lunch, 3 of us, the lay out of the pub was nice and beautiful and had good selection of drinks.

Called in with a friend for a catch-up and Sunday lunch. As always, the service was spot on and the food was fabulous. We both had the cheese and onion pie, which turned out to be far too big for either of us to finish. The landlady, seeing we had left quite a lot, asked if we would like to take it away with us, then wrapped the portions in cling film and foil for us. Had mine for my lunch the following day and it was still gorgeous.

Just called in by chance as the place we had planned to eat was so busy and had no parking, but as it turned out we were more than happy with are food hubby had the cheese pie which was really big with the chips I chose the £5.95 special meal (lasagne) and was very tasty it came with garlic bread it was plenty for me and thoroughly enjoyed it In fact to full for puds which cost£2.00 extra if add to special deal . The pub is quite old fashioned in style but had a nice outside area with play equipment for little ones and really helpful friendly staff .

If you are doing a canal cruise it is worth stopping for lunch. Price starts at £5.99 for the light meals.

Myself partner & 2 children stopped off for tea last Friday evening here and what a disappointment, my 6 year old ordered waffles burger & sweetcorn the meal got sent back straight away the waffle was just deep friend no potato in it it literally broke away in our hand it was that over done ! I ordered a stuffed mushroom for starter I have never ever been so embarrassed for a chef in all my life! It was literally the flat side of an average size mushroom with just layers of melted cheese on it I thought it was a joke when it came out!

Nine of us went for an evening meal, and everyone was very happy with the food and friendly service. It was Thursday evening so 2 for 1, absolute bargain. We will be going again, and again, and again.

Been here a few times now, feel it's only worthy to leave a review, as each visit never disappoints. The food is fresh and has a home cooked feel, I had beef pie, the pastry was perfect and melted in the mouth, my partner had the scampi, which he said was also delicious. The Sunday roasts are the best including the vegetarian option. The service is always good and the waiting staff can't do enough. Great experience.

The place had a funny smell when u walked in and the birds they have in there it's not hygienic in any way there where feather on the seats th3 food was ok nothing to rave about w8ll not be coming back

Came with the family as a last minute decision and found the food really good. It was freshly made, home cooked hearty food and the pub was set in a lovely quiet area on the banks of a picturesque canal. Highly recommended, even my wife liked hers and she normally complains about everything....

Ye Olde No 3 is a gem of a pub with its lovely warm atmosphere, friendly staff & great food. Have been there several times & always feel welcome which makes you want to go back again. Most notably was Mothers Day, after the sad loss of my husbands father a couple of days before we thought it nice to treat his Mum, so at short notice I contacted them to see if could fit us in & they were more than accommodating, without me telling them what had happened. We all came away feeling a bit better . All enjoyed the lovely Sunday roasts with proper fresh veg & gravy that you just wanted more of. Unfortunately no room for desert as more than enough with the mains.

My mother and I were welcomed with smiles which set the mood for a happy Mothers Day celebration lunch. The service throughout was impeccable as was the scrumptious food.

I took my mother here a week, or so, ago and I thought it was very poor. We were actually going to the Barn Owl but that was full so we ended up here, and I am not surprised it was empty. I came here a few years ago, and it was very bad but since it re-opened, the reviews have been mainly positive, so I was hoping for a nice meal. When we got there, there were about 6 other people in, so we found a table and ordered. I ordered the bangers and mash and my mother ordered 'chicken rissotto'. When mine came, the sausages were OK but the mash was very lumpy and the vegetables totally unseasoned. My mother's 'chicken rissotto' was a lumpy of stodgy, under cooked rice, with a very dry piece of chicken sliced and thrown on top. Not pleasant at all. The staff were pleasant enough but it will be a long time before I go back to the Olde No 3.

Who doesn't love a Sunday lunch cooked for them ?? This was a fair attempt but the only let down was the veg. Why can't pubs & restaurants serve FRESH VEG instead of the frozen peas, tiny carrot & green beans mix ??? Give me fresh seasonal veg anytime. Would probably go back but would ask for an alternative to the 'mix' they currently serve.

We found this pub today by chance, while visiting my grandkids for my birthday meal. I am glad we did. its a lovely old pub, with great food, and a brilliant beer garden, it even had a pet goat for my grandkids to feed. We all had a good time, and my grandkids didn't want to leave. We will definitely be going back again.

1st time I visited this pub was a few weeks ago and been back already as the staff are very customer focused and friendly plus the regulars are very welcoming.

Me and my husband called in yesterday for lunch after reading the reviews. The pub was quite busy but with plenty of free tables. We decided to miss starters after eating too much over Christmas and just chose a main course. My husband chose the steak burger with additional bacon and cheese and I chose the goats cheese burger.

Have visited this pub with friends several times, pleasant staff, wonderful service and excellent food 😁 Quiz night is great, wonderful quiz master and service from the bar is second to none. Would recommend this lovely pub to anyone.

Wanted a nice quiet Sunday lunch with friends, but was greeted by the landlady screaming at the top of her voice (must be auditioning for the village town crier), no idea why. I felt quite embarrased as I was dining with friends that I had not seen for a long time and this public house had been recommended. Not the professional behaviour I expect from a public house that has had good reviews and recommendations.

Had been near Didsbury on a training course and decided to find somewhere to eat. So glad we popped into Ye Olde Number 3 at Little Bollington Lyme. There was a warm friendly welcome with lovely helpful staff and a real log fire. Food was very well presented tasty and great value for money. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly and not too busy. I would highly recommend for couples and families. Also welcomed pets.

Came for lunch on a Saturday, the pub was quiet with only a couple of tables occupied. Atmosphere was a little dry, as were the 70’s/80’s tunes that were being played. The place has been refurbished since I was last here and it is a nice setting.
