Not tried this pub before but been today for Sunday lunch. It’s a ‘Proper Pub’. Excellent pint of London Pride to start. Dining area is to the side and separate but you still get the buzzing atmosphere from the bar. Staff all friendly and welcoming. Food service well organised. Steak & Kidney pudding was superb as was my wife’s roast beef (rare as requested). Good value bottle of Malbec to accompany. We had table at 12.30 but it was getting really busy by 2pm. We had a really good time and will definitely go back

We went for my partners birthday . We were 12 and I wanted to do the tab as if we were 2 separate tables as I had my family up 1 end and his up the other. Long tables not great anyway - 6 one side and 6 down the other so neither end could mix - not great. Anyway, even though we were having Tapas menu and other end having main menu(which has no veggie option at all) they said cook would get too confused with 2 tabs - this caused me to get shouted at by one in our party and great friction the rest of the evening. If they had just let us have 2 sep tabs it could all have been avoided. Soup was amazing - best bit but I am afraid I had a rubbish time.

We went for a Sunday roast . It has been awhile since I’ve been inside and I was so pleasantly surprised because it has been refurbished to a high standard. It was warm and the staff were really welcoming and friendly. Felt relaxed instantly. The lamb roast was excellent can’t recommend enough. We throughly enjoyed the whole experience. Hope to go back very soon.

Popped in and asked for a latte. It took two attempts and 20 minutes before I was presented with my drink with too much coffee, far too little milk and (not surprisingly) less than 2/3 full glass. I had to ask for something to stirr my drink as coffee/milk had 'separated'. Undrinkable. Please landlord, if your coffee machine isn't working just say so. Don't sell coffee of a totally unacceptable standard.

This is a proper old fashioned English pub. We ordered the Sunday roast which was amazing. Piping hot, brilliant selection of fresh vegetables including cauliflower cheese at no extra cost and lovely gravy. To follow we shared the crumble which was huge and obviously home made with delicious custard. The two ladies who served us were lovely too. All in all, a wonderful lunch at a very reasonable price. Will definitely be back to sample the rest of the menu!

Went for a Sunday drink with friends & was made to feel very uncomfortable. Was told to remove my cap as there is a bar rule of no caps, although there are no signs saying this. Came here with some friends as I had heard really good things about their tapas. I was so excited to try real Spanish food (which is something quite difficult to find in this country, at least for a reasonable price). The chef, I had heard, was Spanish, so I was positive the food would be great...I am sorry to say this, cause the place is nice and the staff were lovely, but the food was not just not 'proper Spanish', but it was simply not good. Patatas bravas were soggy, not crispy, as they had been covered in tons of sauce (also the sauce was not salsa brava); tortilla had probably been done in a microwave or oven, it was not juicy or slightly roasted from frying it in a pan, the meatballs were dry (and made with lamb mince, Spanish meatballs should be half pork, half beef mince and we usually add some egg and bread soaked in milk so that they stay juicy), croquetas were made with potato (actually, these were ok, but Spanish croquetas are made with béchamel - flour, olive oil/butter, milk- not mashed potato). Again, I am sorry I have to write this, cause the place is nice and the staff too. Non-Spanish might like this type of food, but as a Spanish, it really broke my heart.

I visit this local pub that has remained mainly unspoilt for many years, a true local pub that is still very friendly to visitors. This is further enhanced by a varied table menu with changing specialities as well as a comprehensive tapas menu that I regularly choose. Just don’t over order from the tapas menu as portions are large and five dishes which are a feast rarely cost more than £25. Great personal service and friendly staff help the feeling of this period pub.

Went for Sunday lunch. Roast beef and moussaka dishes were fair to good. But the Mediterranean bake was missing two key ingredients. And when we complained although staff were apologetic the explanation was that they had run out of ingredients. Bit of an own goal and you would normally expect the lack of ingredients to be explained up front before ordering rather than leaving it to the diner to find out while eating. Just a very poor show

Ye Old Kings Head is covered in flowers in the summer from hundreds of hanging baskets. The chef is first class with a huge range of dishes all prepared on the premises. The atmosphere is great. This is the place to go for good food, good beer and good company with friendly staff. One of the best pubs around, and the prices are reasonable. Was looking forward to a Tapas night as there were positive reviews.Mini paella, completely over cooked rice and bland, no seasoning, not even a touch of saffron (never had a paella with tinned tomatoes added at the last minute, uncooked and no seasoning), patatas bravas, since when do tinned tomatoes, yet again get dolloped on top? Where is the homemade mayonnaise? tasteless tinned tomatoes, oh and a few red peppers...Chicken, prawn and chorizo skewers, again bland, no seasoning, the cheapest tasting chorizo I have ever had the discomfort of eating. On the positive side, very friendly service (left a tip for that) and the whole prawns in chilli and garlic, the only dish I would recommend.P.s when serving prawns to peel, when a finger bowl is requested (shouldn't have to ask if you expect patrons to use their fingers) much appreciated if it were warm.Sorry but won't be returning regardless of how charming service is.

We just moved to within a 5 min walk of this pub and last night was our first visit. This is very much "your basic pub" - in a way it's reassuringly unpretentious. So, although the decor wasn't that exciting we were there for the food and what we had was absolutely delicious. We shared the two person, 5 tapas option, paying the extra £2.50 for the mini paella, which was anything but "mini" (I have just had the leftovers for lunch today) as well as whitebait, potatoes 'Carmen', duck and aubergine and croquetas. They also provide a small salad for the middle of the platter. It was all delicious, there was heaps of food and we thought it was very good value. We look forward to coming back!

Today my partner and daughter and I had our Christmas lunch here. Well, what can I say........my partner is a regular as it is a drinking hole for a lot of working men....fair enough......but as a food establishment it most certainly is not. I was surprised how dirty and unimaginable the tables looked for a christmas lunch.....the tables were so sticky and not cleaned properly I had to yank my fork from the table as it was stuck fast,,,,probably been there over night and then expected us to use them.! As for the food I cannot explain in decent words to describe how disgusting it was. It was appalling.......the 'Churkey' ( dont really know what is was ) was white and pasty damp....the so called roast potatoes, were bits of half cooked tiny spuds, burnt on one side and not cooked on the other....the veg was so minimal what you could see of it,.the yorkshire pudding was the SMALLEST I have ever seen, swamped in pee thin gravy which we had no choice wether we wanted it or not , it was already slopped on the whole dinner......the only thing about our whole visit to this 'so called' eating place was the cheese and biscuits for a pudding.......no coffee and mints after.........I did not touch the meal and my partner ate all of mine only to save face as it is his 'man pub'........I was furious with the whole experience there and vow never to return....! The pub took £180 from us for three so called Christmas lunches.......my grandson could have cooked a better meal with his eyes shut and he is 15 years old.........Disgusting hole.........but ok for a working mans after work drink.....! AVOID !

We went to the Kings head for Spanish tapas. When we arrived we were greeted by a traditional pub in full swing! We were shown our table and after a while the menu was given to us. There was a full list of tapas to choose from. Between myself, my wife and young daughter we chose 9 dishes, the waitress said we had probably picked too many and she was probably right. When the food arrived, I was surprised at the size of the dishes, three times the size of la tasca chain. The quality of the food was first class and very reasonably priced as well.I'm always down on business in this area, I can't wait to visit again.

I am local to the Kings Head and visit regularly for a drink with friends. The English food can be variable but the portions are a good size and the prices moderate. This evening I ate in the restaurant section and we ordered from the tapas menu. The food was nicely presented in terracotta bowls but more importantly was very tasty indeed. From Spanish holidays, I think this was authentic Spanish food, and cooked by a Spanish chef. Recommended. My only criticism is that the pub could be cleaner, particularly the tables which always seem to be sticky.

This is a true local pub - the regulars have been regulars for years. They welcome new-comers though and will happily chat to you and tell you all about the local area. Inside is small and cosy - roaring fires in the winter and there's a lovely busy vibe to the place. There is a good selection of food available & the specials are varied and always delicious. Good value for money too.

I have had one of the best Mousakas here but that was in the past. The recent offering was a joke. As they had no sauce topping, the 'chef' decided to finish off the dish with a large slab of cheese which was melted on top of a pile of mince. Poor flavours and almost inedible. Chef has no love for the food or his job. All he wanted to do was spend 2 minutes in the kitchen and then get back to chatting at the bar.List of poor foods: Barnsley chops not just pink but completely raw in the middle, veal so undercooked and tapas that gives you the squits.Good menu but very poor execution and for the cost it was totally unacceptable. Never again. They have had their last chance.

Without a question is one of the best looking pubs around. Shame it's a bit smelly inside and doesn't have the best vibe. I think a little TLC indoors like those stunning hanging baskets out doors would be ideal.

We took some friends here after reading all the reviews and were not disappoint. The food is reasonable priced and tasty however the presentation of the food is something you would have at home. Overall, it's a nice local pub and the food is good!

Just what you want from a local pub, friendly staff, plentiful food, perfect! Pubs in Epsom really aren't up to scratch but this is the one and only pub if bother with.

Great Tapas menu, prepared by a chef who clearly knows what he is doing. Good range of beers, and the staff make it a pleasure to visit time and time again. Highly recommend! Dog friendly too.

Took my grandad here for Sunday lunch on fathers day. Good portion size - generous with potatoes and meat. I had salmon and it was cooked perfectly. Staff taking orders were really friendly and welcoming, I would definitely recommend this pub to others. Only bad thing was wine wasn't that nice but we did only order house white!

Had Sunday lunch here. The portion size was good, lovely beef. Yorkshires were not home made and parsnips the same, but for the price was decent. But - the tables had some covering over them and they were sticky and one thing that puts me off my dinner is that!

We are trying all the pubs in Epsom for Sunday lunch and we heard the food was very good at this pub. We booked a place and it was terribly crowded and we were squashed in a tiny corner with the kitchen door right by my partners chair. And the wines (red and a rose, both £6 approx per glass) were awful - both like vinegar

There is a restaurant area here or you can eat at tables in the pub, all with the same menu.Have eaten Sunday lunch here several times in the last few months and always had a good meal. The portions are huge. There is a large choice of main courses, including 4 roast dinners, and the beef is cooked fairly rare the way I like it.The staff are particularly kind and thoughtful to my elderly mother.

I've been here quite a few times and always had the tapas which have always been fresh and interesting and tasty, and as good as many tapas dishes I have had in Spain. Sometimes the 5 dishes for £20 or I think now £22 and sometimes just a mini paella which is easily enough for a main dish. Friends have had other items off the menu and they have been a bit more varied in terms of quality but in general it's a lovely and friendly little pub which I enjoy visiting :-)

Popped to this pub to watch the rugby, and expected a lasagne to take 15 minutes maybe, but it arrived in a staggering 3 1/2 minutes. It was cold in the middle, pretty disappointing. Incredibly reasonable, but you wouldn't pay more for it. There must have been a good night the night before, because the barmaids were all talking about how hungover they were and that one of them was adamant that another slept with some bloke last night?!? Not discreet at all

Lunch for 2. Had a burger that was so so. Food was okay. Service was average. More a beer stop and add a little snack with it. They are creating an outdoor experience with tables throughout the back yard lawn. Will check that out on a sunny day when open.

I thoroughly enjoyed the beer festival weekend and joined my family in the garden listening to the music. The staff are always so friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. The manager is a great guy and always makes us feel welcome. This is certainly one of my favourite pubs.

This used to be fantastic, but in the last two weeks standards have fallen. Chicken shish is tough and dry , less meat than before , pitta bread and wrap is hard and often quite inedible. Up until recently I couldn’t fault them so I’m guessing somethings gone wrong.

Thank you to the team, especially Coco who kept going through difficult times. It is so good to be getting back to normal, there are still difficulties with deliveries which is hitting everywhere at the moment. If something isn’t available then there is plenty more to choose from.
