The Marquis Of Granby in Epsom and Ewell

I have been coming to the Marquis for years. The atmosphere and friendly staff were part of the draw. Yesterday was an exception. The young lady who served us could be best described as surly and disinterested. The fact she brought us the wrong wine made her annoyed and frustrated, added to that she had to use a corkscrew was clearly an inconvenience for her. Made worse for her by the fact that she broke the cork. Not an apology from her, just some flouncing. Highly unprofessional. I did not recognise any of the staff tonight. I usually rate the food well but last night my friend's burger was burnt and my caesar salad was not good, the chicken was very dry. I mentioned it to the man who came to clear the plates and his reply : "well you should have said something earlier" incredibly unprofessional. I think the whole bar staff seemed more interested in themselves and each other than the customers. Not at all good! Very disappointing.

Amazing vibe in the pub, staff are so nice and polite, always ready and happy to help, especially Shivonne and Holly, had an absolute blast of a night!

Quiet Friday lunch time. It is an old style pub, now a brasserie type model. Plenty of outside seating so probably much busier from June.

Great roast on Easter but gravy could have had more flavour and roast potatoes unfortunately did not taste fresh but other than that it was good! :)

Visited this pub last minute last Saturday lunch time. The pub was pretty much empty when we got there, we ordered food which took an hour to get to the table, when it did it I had to force it down because I was starving. I had the chicken and bacon burger, as did my mum. The bun was cheap and falling apart it was so dry, the chicken was burnt and dry, in the burger with that was half an iceberg lettuce (shredded) and two slices of cucumber. The chips were also on the nearly burnt side. My brother had the kids sausage and chips, he couldn’t eat the sausage it was so dry so we had to get him a sandwich later on. He was hoping to get a pudding from the kids menu but we were rushed for time seeing as they were taking so long to serve us, considering the pub was empty aside from a couple dining alone, we were there over 2 hours and only had one (disappointing) course. The service wasn’t great. The two girls weren’t rude but weren’t very pleasant, they mumbled, didn’t make eye contact, no smiles. The only saving grace of the place is the music👏🏻

Our waiter had no patience and rushed us. We were a party of 10, he took about 4 orders then said.. is that it… we said no… he took a few more orders and said it again.. we felt really rushed then he got part of the order wrong so we had to wait for the replacement

Mothers day roast..had the chicken but the roast potatoes were hard as a rock I thought they was deep fried but asked waitress she said there cooked in the oven!..enjoyed most of the dinner but looking forward to my roasties and not good at all

I just wanted to say a big thank you to your team yesterday. They were so helpful from our arrival. Everything was set up and ready to get our bits in too. They even went and found us a spare vase for the flowers instead of just putting them in some water! All the bar staff were lovely and loads of people mentioned the level of service. The food came out perfectly on time and was piping hot which was perfect, could tell it was fresh and hadn’t just been sat there waiting to come out. We will definitely be back for another event we all have together. Thank you again. Would highly recommend.

Lovely pub with great atmosphere. Leah provided great service and all the staff were really friendly. Updating my review as another review question if some were legit. Well here’s a bit more detail and evidence. I’ve been a few times and always had a good experience. Both for eating ( recommend the veggie burger) and for social, including a fantastic night on New Year’s Eve. They had live music from a fantastic live band “Cellar Door” who had the pub rocking 🤘🤘🤘

The pub had not long opened for lunch, yet most tables had clearly not being cleaned, they had clearly not been cleaned before the pub had re-opened. Been short on time we found a cleaner table and decided to stay for lunch. Food was quite good and a nice variety of dishes. Would probably not go again due to lack of cleanliness

Fantastic local pub well worth visiting

Had a great meal at Marquis of Granby. Steak was great. No grilled tomato or spicy crunchy fried onions. price was the same as previous visits. Usually have the rather tasty pie and mash.

I had my retirement event there yesterday. We were allocated a reserved area near the bar. The staff were really great, food orders were really quick and was piping hot! Great taste in music as well.

Went here for a meal with my mum and the food and atmosphere was great but the worker Siobhan was outstanding, she was always attentive and made sure our overall experience was perfect! Definitely will be visiting again 👍😎👍

Visited Saturday night. Ordered 3 bar snacks for £16. Barmaid reluctantly put the order through. Food came out cold. When I asked the barmaid if she could reheat the cold food she replied that the chef had gone home and she couldn't reheat it!! Won't be visiting again. Areas of the pub smelt strongly of Weed. A lot of teens in the pub.

Great food at sensible prices and excellent friendly service from the staff. We went as a family and had a bit of everything - hake, burgers, pie, sausage and mash - all great. Baked cheesecake after was gorgeous too. Very happy :)

Went on new years eve with friends for the first time it was fantastic. Great atmosphere, very nice place, staff were fantastic and was a great night/new day out. Definitely the place to go at any time.

Loved the place!! Europeans are laughing at British cuisine... WELL THEY ARE WRONG!!,! A Greek person says this! Really good food! Excellent hake baked in sapphire and tarragon butter excellent roast, fish and chips and sirloin. The venue was friendly, cosy and elegant! Friendly staff, Definitely visit again! Helena.

I found bar staff/man very rude, as a paying customer who was sitting inside minding my own buisness, i waz sitting on a reserved table and then was told to go and sit outside in the rain like a dog by the barman rather then seating me on seating me on another table i jad to sit oitsise on the cold after paying high prices for drink.

Visited here after a long day looking for food. We found it, all homemade and tasty. Prices were good but best of all it is the only place I found that served Guinness OO. As I am a non drinker, you get fed up with orange juice and the like. 00 makes a great change. The pub is very dark, which adds to the atmosphere gives the impression of going back a hundred years. Great little pub

im so upset iv had a car parking charge . we didnt understand the sign .free for paying customers . couldntreally see the sign as it was dark . we thought we must have to put our reg in the ipad they have in most pubs . we couldnt see one , so we asked the bar staff . all they said its free for paying customers. never said about downloading a app . really unfair . i cant afford this bill .

Very busy, popular pub in Epsom town centre. We were meeting as a groupf of friends and went to this place because of being able to book a table for a large group. Some of us ate, but as I didn't I cannot comment on the food that I ate. Portions looked good and friends said they had a good meal. One negative about this pub is the price of drinks. We had house wine at £26.50 a bottle which, I feel, was a huge mark up in cost for a house wine. Clearly this does not put people off as it was very busy on the night we were there. Yes the atmosphere is good and it is a lively place to enjoy a few drinks, but I still feel they are over pricing the wine.

Another quick drink after a local show. For the 6 foot plus visitors watch your head cause some of the beams are low. Apart from that not a bad place to try out

Came here on Sunday night with friends and loved it. Had Charlie serving us drinks all night and was so accommodating and friendly. Seems so family friendly and wholesome highly recommend!

Tables are extremely shaky and placed on slopes, staff don't care that tables are set up to spill drinks.

Nice place to come and relax, visited on a Saturday evening for drinks, mix of customers of all ages, which was a nice change. Bar staff are young and very friendly and great at their jobs. Will be back to try the food one day.

I would really like to give this pub more stars, having been a regular visitor over 10 years however the state of the ladies loos is NOT acceptable. Doors do not lock, hand drier does not work. Lamps etc in pubs have cobwebs etc, lack of basic cleaning.. Basic hygiene and privacy is a requirement, especially given the prices in the Marquis x

what a dreary pub no atmosphere price wise was fair staff were friendly and served well whilst sitting outside 6 RATS run around the so called front bear garden 🪴 lol which was full of dead flowers and rubbish from the road! won’t rush back !!!
