A regular for us as quite local especially when out on a bike ride. Staff very helpful & friendly. Food acceptable. Cleanliness is a BIG issue just lately, especially the toilets!? Very very dirty & unkempt. Not sure who is checking them & signing the sheets but whoever it is needs replacing. Such a shame, let's the whole place down in my opinion.

I can't put my finger on why I can't give this more stars. 3.5 is what I'd like but I can't. The pub needs some tlc really, it's looking tired. The lake is more like a big pond and the common is not what I expected. The service was lovely, greeted with a big smile and she was great, so cannot take anything away from the staff. The burger was good, nothing special, feltnit was just missing that something. My wife said the Earth burger was really good though. My main disappointment.... The S'mores, toasted marshmallows... But they were not toasted, they may have been last week but they were cold, clumped together and just the tiny ones you'd add to a hot chocolate. Also the Brownie was cold as well, gutted.

Not Great. This is a classic case of 'that looks like a really nice pub so will probably do a nice lunch...' only to really disappoint. It's a quaint building sandwiched into a semi rural setting overlooking a pond. Sure it looks like a nice place to have a few beers in, nice bar area and ambient. Very friendly (if frantic) service from overstretched staff, but unfortunately the food was really not very good...poor even. Lamb shank and roast turkey....meat was ok in both cases, but the food was just about luke warm, plates were cold, turkey needed way more gravy than the spoonful that appeared to come with it, and the roast potatoes were frankly just horrible....tasted really hard, like they'd been warmed up from the day before... Really wasn't worth going out for...sorry Cricketers, but not good and on reflection, we're pretty cross that such poor quality food even get's to leave the kitchen....waste of our hard earned money and spoiled a rare meal out for my wife and I.

I attend the poker night at the pub every tuesday , its really good to do something fun for a reasonable price , simon who runs the night is good and passionate about poker he is very friendly and runs the night smoothly , my only criticism would the young bar girls they always seem unhappy and never smile , everything seems like it is too much effort and sometimes it takes them a long time to forefill the order.

Just visited for Sunday Roast. Firstly compliments to the servers - two ladies who found us a table and then served the food ensuring we had all we wanted. The roasts were ok, but the roast potatoes had obviouly been pre-cooked and 'nuked' in the microwave making the skins like tough leather and the inside overcooked. The tenderstem brocolli was anything but tender. Al dente I understand, undercooked and tough I don't. For dessert we had the rhubarb crumble which again had been reheated and 'nuked' in the microwave resulting in a 'wet stodge' rather than a crumble. I have sympathy with a pub kitchen, particularly on a busy Sunday, dealing with orders coming in all the time. The food is either part ruined as above, or it is par-cooked and finished in the oven before serving but creating a delay to patrons. I believe if warned the food is cooked fresh and there may be a wait before serving, this is preferred to food served straight from being 'nuked' and ruined. Last point. If you had no cash or coin, there was no way of giving a tip to the serving ladies. At least two people offered tips whilst we were there to add to the bill but this had to be declined as the system didn't allow it. Come on Stonegate, recognise that these days people don't carry coin or notes for tips and it's all on plastic and make appropriate arrangements so clients can reward good service.

A pub with all the potential in the world sadly let down by how it’s being run. It’s a chaotic mix of bar and table service, neither of which was being done well. If you try and please everyone, you please no one as is the case here. I ordered a pint and a tea at the bar and was told they’d bring the tea to the table. The tea hadn’t come and after 20 minutes I went to the bar and chased it up. It was sat at the end of the bar waiting and the young chap put it on a tray and asked a young female colleague whether it was my tea and they said yes. They both walked off leaving the tray for me to take with no apology or acknowledgement of a long wait. I light as well have waited at the bar for it to be made and taken it myself, but the confused setup here means no accountability and no one knowing what they’re doing at the expense of the customer experience. The customer service here was non existent and there is clearly no leadership or organisation. Worse still the pot of tea only filled a single cup 3/4s as per the photos. What’s the point of the pot? You might as well just serve it by the cup as a pot is supposed to refill the cup provided. The place is run by non pub people who really don’t know what they’re doing. I can’t even say the staff need customer service training as they didn’t have basic manners which should come naturally. Clearly this wasn’t picked up when employing people at the interview stage and not remedied since either. The pub is in a great location, but is an absolute mess in how it’s being run and managed by people who go have no pride in their work. Hopefully it gets taken over by someone who knows what they’re doing such as a proper landlord who actually cares. A woeful experience here and not worth the overinflated prices.

I would not return. I had the Mushroom Wellington and my husband had the roast beef. My granddaughter had the hand battered fish, the only good thing that came to our table. My food was cold so I complained. Clearly they just shoved it in the microwave. The roast potatoes were like bullets and the broccoli very undercooked. We were given our money back for the Wellington receiving good customer service; however, will not unfortunately return. Bar staff excellent, kitchen staff awful.

A friend and I meet up for lunch here every so often. Weather permitting, we eat outdoors; yesterday was very hot so, not surprisingly, we ate in the open. I've reviewed The Cricketers more than once and accorded it very favourable comments. This time, I'm only reviewing the dish that I had (and always have): Hunter's Chicken. This has always been good but yesterday's offering was exceptionally good and generous. The large piece of chicken was perfectly cooked and amply coated with melted cheese and a delicious sauce. There was plenty of bacon accompanying the chicken breast. together with tasty chips and nice peas. My companion had her usual fish and chips and told me how good they were. I've said in a previous review that the interior tables are well spaced out and that the pub has a pleasing atmosphere; I can add that yesterday the staff were as friendly, professional and helpful as always. There is still plenty of space to park one's car just outside the pub. The only hang up was that the coffee machine was not working and I missed my cappuchino!! Assuming that said machine will be back in action shortly I can, as before , heartily recommend this pub for lunch.

I had a meal there yesterday with my father as he previously tried the lamb and was thoroughly impressed. Sadly, the lamb had been swapped by the beef rib, which I had. This came well presented, and the food from our two meals was delicious! Simon made sure we were very well looked after - and as my first visit, I genuinely enjoyed the atmosphere. My elderly father prefers quiet places with good food, and this delivered what we needed. A second visit will be needed - for the lamb, or the beef rib in a bun - as Simon suggested! Thank you

Just had a fantastic experience at my local pub, Stepping through the doors, the warm glow and friendly buzz instantly put me at ease. The pub itself is a delight – cozy nooks with comfy armchairs beckoned for a longer stay, while the worn wooden bar held a certain charm. The staff were top-notch. Friendly and attentive, they made everyone feel welcome. Whether it was a quick hello or a chat about the day's news, they struck the perfect balance. Of course, no pub experience is complete without a good drink. The selection at was impressive, with a wide range of beers on tap and a decent selection of wines and spirits. I opted for a Markers mark, and it was perfectly poured and delicious. But what truly elevates The Cricks is the atmosphere. It's a place where regulars and newcomers mix seamlessly, fostering a genuine sense of community. Whether catching up with friends or simply enjoying a quiet pint after work, it caters to all. Gammon steak was interesting but very salty and not tastier than Smoked ham (although looked a lot like it). Burger OK. I liked the sweet potato tiger fries. Food was really nice to be fair & a big shout out to our waiter ( think his name was Luke) who seemed to be the only person in the restaurant doing all the waiting on tables & clearing them whilst the remaining staff sat by the stairs chatting & laughing. After waiting ages for someone to check if we wanted to pay our bill I went downstairs to wait even longer as the other staff still chatting & laughing, ignored me standing there for ages. A bald guy who was also chatting & laughing in the group ( manager I think) eventually noticed me & got our waiter to come. It’s a shame as apart from Luke who seemed to be doing everyone else’s jobs as well as his own the customer service wasn’t what I’d of expected for a Mother’s Day meal. Pity as I liked the food but customer service could be much better apart from our waiter who served us.

Yo ho, fellow pub crawlers! Just docked at The Cricketers Inn in Epsom, and let me tell you, it's a captain's delight! The atmosphere? Warmer than a pirate's booty, buzzing with friendly faces and laughter that'd put a mermaid to shame. But the real treasures here are the staff, namely Naise and Ed. Naise, she's got a smile that could charm a kraken out of its cave, and a wit sharper than a cutlass. Remembered my order after one visit (and it wasn't just rum punches!), making me feel like a regular even before I was. Ed, the barkeep extraordinaire, spins drinks like a pirate spins yarns. Thank you for a great fun evening. Came here for a friends birthday for drinks. There was a wonderful friendly atmosphere, the drinks came quickly and the barmaids were so bubbly and lovely. They went above and beyond for us. One of them was called Kayley - sorry if I spelt that wrong - best ever! Haha thank you.

Fabulous service. Lady was on her own today 12/11 but nothing was a problem. She was welcoming and cheery. We had a lovely table reserved by the window upstairs overlooking the stream and ducks. Cosy beautiful pub. Lovely decor. Roast dinner was spot on and rhubarb crumble delicious. Couldnt fault any of it but i think the lady serving us, although very busy provided really great service. Will definitely return.

Roast dinner abismal, the amount of roast beef was so small you could give it to a toddler, mash potato tasted instant, parsnips as small as french fries and all if it was cold.

It started off rather nice, friendly greeting We ordered starter sweet potato falafel the broccoli Tenderstem was missing. Afterwards for main course we ordered the signature dish of Irish Connemara mussels. I took one bite and I could tell by look and taste these were not Connemara mussels and they are frozen. It had been marinating during defrosting in its own juices and quite frankly was inedible. The mussels were tiny and completely shrivelled and there was a very unpalatable strong old fishy taste. I called the waitress with the lovely red hair and said I couldn’t eat it as it was way too old fishy taste. She went to the kitchen with my plate and I heard a roar of laughter. Then when she came to take my order I ordered fish and chips to which her sarcastic reply was ‘that might be too fishy ‘ I thought that was really rude and was quite shocked that a paying customer gets mocked by the staff and in a loud voice so all the people could hear it. I wish I had been less polite. I should have said ‘ does the chef also cook the cod in the same swamp marinade as the mussels ?’ My partner was also very disappointed and said it was pretty disgusting. But he doesn’t like to complain. I have been a Chef for many years and I know what Connemara mussels should taste like. We won’t be going there again. Rude and the kitchen staff need cooking lessons. I really don’t think it is ok for a customer to be ridiculed just because the dish they ordered was inedible.

Perhaps one of my favourite places to eat in Epsom, the staff are just amazing, Kerry who I’m told is also the manager was just incredible, really warm and made our visit fun. Great food, great atmosphere and such a great location next to the pond. I only have good things to say about the cricketers, highly recommend visiting for both locals and visitors to the area.

What a rare and wonderful find. Food was top tier and servings were huge. We stopped in for lunch and we're pleasantly surprised by the gorgeous and quirky interior, and affordable menu. The staff were all super cool, helpful and attentive. The outdoor area is small, cute and full of people and thier dogs. Highly recommend

This used to be fantastic, but in the last two weeks standards have fallen. Chicken shish is tough and dry , less meat than before , pitta bread and wrap is hard and often quite inedible. Up until recently I couldn’t fault them so I’m guessing somethings gone wrong.
