We stayed one night and ate in restaurant. Only had starters but food was very nice. Friendly staff member called Olly. Couldn’t have been more helpful. Good nights sleep. Then breakfast !! One male member of staff who just couldn’t be bothered. Zero customer service. Got us a hot drink but no offer of fruit juice, toast or any cereal. Glasses on table too. Hot breakfast was lovely though.

We were staying near by and stopped in for a nice lunch. The pub is lovely and has a nice menu. To start with we had the pork scratchings which were great. Then we had the steak and ale pie which was lovely and I highly recommend having. They were very accommodating when I asked for fries instead of mash with the pie. We also had the fish tacos which were good. Highly recommend coming here.

Been to this village pub a few times and always found Manager or owner sorry not sure really nice and chatty. Unfortunately there was a very rude man with a moustache behind the bar . When. Asked if we could sit on a table ( which was made up ) we were told no as it’s reserved , this was around midday . He said we could ‘go outside ‘ ….. it was drizzling but we did and it was fine but I was slightly taken aback by his abruptness. Surely he could have said yes but need the table by ….. and we would have moved . Took our glasses in at 1.15 most of the tables were still empty , and I said ‘ oh we could have sat at a table , but thank you anyway. Good bye ‘ and placed the glasses on the bar . He ignored me . So again I said ‘Thank you ‘ , ignored , again ‘thank you ‘ and he just mumbled something . What a rude man . If you read through past reviews this is probably the person most reviews are about this rude man .

Pulled in on the road king on a busy Sunday to ask if we could check in early after a wet good wood. The guy said no problem and also let us use the quick back door to take our luggage up to our lovely spacious room. Had a prink before a good evening meal. And a very nice cooked to order breakfast. Don’t take any notice of a couple of bad reviews, not true. Already booked for next year thank you.

What a beautiful location for one but the food and serve was impeccable, especially from the waiter Oli. I couldn’t decide on what to eat as the menu was mouthwatering and so difficult to decide on what I wanted to eat. Oli went through the menu with me describing the food in beautiful detail, he knew what he was talking about and helped me decide on the yummy “roast pork” . He was also very funny and charming and made the visit for lunch even more special. Will be back very soon!

The hotel is very old and full of character. The owners have tried hard to provide very comfortable rooms in an old building and the room was very clean. Great location in the Southdowns National park. Traditional pub in a quiet location with excellent catering facilities. They even have semi-skimmed milk, something that can be important for a Dutch person. Staff (everyone) super friendly, helpful and interested. Cuisine is excellent, the Fish & Chips is highly recommended. If I can name a downside, it is the prices for the food, not very cheap but on the other hand very tasty. A proper English breakfast costs an additional GBP 10 per meal.

Stayed for one night while visiting the area. Comfortable stylishly furnished room overlooking the street. Nice touches like quality hospitality tray and bottled water. Compact bathroom with shower over bath, could have benefitted from a vanity sink as it lacks surfaces to put toiletries, and some of the tiles need grouting. Had delicious dinner, particularly the baked camembert. But we were seated alone in the formal dining room rather than the bar which had more atmosphere. A good night's sleep as it's so quiet and dark. Continental breakfast is included, cooked breakfast is at extra charge, but as I don't eat eggs it didn't seem worth paying an extra £10 just for avocado on toast so the Continental sufficed. Very good coffee. We would stay here again, but would request to eat in the bar.

A clean and comfortable place to stay, I can’t complain about the room. But It was ruined by a grumpy member of staff. We came down for breakfast in the morning and were seated in a tight corner space, offerd tea or coffee, no offer of any juice or cereal, no offer of a refill on hot drinks there was no customer service what so ever from the member of staff. When I was paying the bill I quibbled over the charge, he was very abrupt in his reply, that the breakfast was not free, it was an extra £20 which I did not really agree with as we were not offered the free breakfast. The service was not what I would have expected from a business where your bread and butter are the customers. Will not be staying again.

A great stay, with a fantastic breakfast and a great Sunday lunch......but spoilt by an extremely unfriendly member of staff. The final straw was coming down for a coffee at 10.25am on Sunday to be told that check out was 10.30am [no one had mentioned this previously]. I said Ok, we would drink our coffee, pack and leave. At 10.55 we came down to settle our bar tab and leave......he said it was £75. That seemed high and when I asked for a copy of the bill I saw he had added a late departure charge of £25. When I asked he said we were 25 mins late leaving and it was £25.......ie. £1 a minute!!! Never experienced anything like this before will not be going back.......which is sad because it not a bad place! Just spoilt by a single member of staff.

The pub has all the signs to be amazing but sadly it is not by any stretch of the imagination. The village setting is quintessentially British and on arrival the scenery does put you in a great mood. Sadly that lift in spirit does not last on. Stayed one night there and as soon as you walk in you feel like the staff are disappointed that you did make it to the place. Taken to the room upstairs and it was very very clean. Yes it is small and the shower room reminds you to go back to weight watchers upon your return home. It’s a pub room and walls are paper thin. I could hear the person next door unzip his suitcase!! I hope that’s what it was…. Booked dinner for 7:30 and the restaurant was simply empty. Guy at bar took me the the table furthest away and luckily I ordered my drinks whilst I was at the bar. Guy brought me the menu when I sat down but he never came back. At 7:50 I walked to the bar to call the waitress who was most helpful since the guy forgot about me. Dinner was pricey but very good. Guy from counter came to get my plate at 8:20 and I asked for the dessert menu. 15 minutes later I walked to bar to tell them I am leaving. The guy then said oh sorry I forgot to bring the menu!! The restaurant was just empty and he forgot!!!! The 2 staff were busy all the time discussing tipping week whilst they totally ignored a paying customer. Room wise: if you are like me and built for comfort with extra padding, you will find the shower room and the toilet most uncomfortable. It is extremely small and tight. No hot water in wash basin but shower was powerful and hot. Breakfast is included but it’s only continental. Full English is extra. You don’t help yourself but rather tell the waitress what you want and she brings it to you. Coffee is made fresh in front of you and the morning service (without the bearded guy from night before) was excellent!

Booked a specific room for a special occasion, which the hotel was notified of. Was given a different one, with several conflicting excuses. Spent ages listening to the phone conversation in the room we should have had, through paper thin walls. We were the only customers in the overpriced and chilly restaurant so there was no atmosphere. Asked the waitress if there was salad with the steak and she said no, so we ordered salad. The steak came with a mound of pea shoots. The salad was a bucket of pea shoots. We'd had enough pea shoots so we didn’t eat the salad. We went to the bar area after dinner, having not been offered a chance to order dessert or coffee, to hear the chef loudly complaining to the bar staff about customers who "complain" (we didn’t complain, we asked) about salad, only to leave it. Next morning, our otherwise lovely breakfast had a pile of inappropriate pea shoots on it. On a full English breakfast.

We got off to a shaky start with the roasts being sold out and the table in a draughty position but the staff and management did everything they could to rectify and moved us to a table which had freed up in the restaurant and...

I have been here a couple of times and both times the food has been fantastic! If I lived nearer I would visit more often. It’s good quality ingredients cooked well and the serving staff were helpful and friendly. We had the roast beef and pork belly with the bread as a starter - my only regret was I didn’t have room for a pudding. We ate in the pub area as we had our dog with us - they provided some water for her.I would thoroughly recommend!!!

When we arrived we were told we had not made a booking and that it was likely we had booked at a similar named pub in Petersfield. We looked at the booking log and pointed out our booking to the server who joked that we shouldn't panic. The food itself was very good and the waiting staff attentive, however when paying the bill there were further problems caused by the same staff member who had been unable to find our booking. The bill was about 110 pound so we asked to put 80 pound on one card and 50 on another, giving a 20 pound tip. We were told we could possibly do this and that if we wanted to share the bill we would need to go to the bar and itemise every item in order to split it. We pointed out we were paying mote than the bill and offered to pay the exact bill but again were told we had to go the bar and list every item each family had ordered. A disappointing end to a pleasant meal.

Customer service was great by the staff. Special mention to the tunes being played in the background, a good choice. Beer tasted fine & had body to it. Food was really good. The sourdough bread was lovely as was the rib eye & the haddock. Would definitely visit again. Thanks for a lovely evening.

We stayed in East Meon this weekend. Had dinner at the George on Saturday night and again on Sunday lunchtime. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The food was out of this world with the belly pork the best I’d ever had and the sage gnocci were to die for. Honestly , my friend and I agreed it was the nicest food we had had for a very long time. Absolutely fantastic place .

We have been here a few times and it’s been amazing. We visited tonight and were totally disappointed! This was the place we dreamed of going to during lockdown but ordering the ribeye was a total mistake. I ordered it medium rare but it came well done, sent it back and waited 25 mins for it to be well done. The table next to us couldn’t eat their food as it was dry and deep fried. Had my steak been 20£ I would have accepted but it was supposed to be a ribeye and I got an overdone sirloin for 30£

We were local for the day so decided to stop in for a nice summery pint outside. Covid regulations respected and had a one way access to the bar. Staff and other visitors chilled and relaxed. Nice country view, enjoyed watching the world go by on a sunny day.

We had a two night stay at the Inn. The food was very good, the accommodation clean and comfortable. The setting is stunning and for out door pursuits the showers are marvellous. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay there again.

Absolutely random visit! We were desperate for lunch on our way home from Guildford and hadn't made plans as to where we were going to eat. My wife spotted a brown sign with a knife and fork and 'garden centre' on it so we turned off the A31 to give it a try. We are so glad we did! The Tree House Coffee Shop is an absolute gem of a café in a family run garden centre. Lovely, welcoming, friendly staff, good food and absolutely gorgeous homemade cakes. Mrs P even got chance to spend some time with the garden centre's cat! One disappointment - we don't live nearby!!

From the moment we held our son’s christening here in 2022, I knew this is the place I’d get married. Simon and the team are the most accommodating, adaptable, friendly people and deserve a medal for putting up with us and our requests. No question went unanswered, no request was too much. Simon never ever left me waiting for a reply and encouraged us to visit the venue as often as we needed to set the scene. We had 3 whole days to set up (not that we needed it as Simon and the team were on hand to make everything look perfect before we arrived). He liaised with our suppliers and kept us updated constantly! He knew exactly what we wanted and exceeded all expectations! The following morning (with some sore heads) we arrived to undress the venue to find most of it had been done for us and our cards and gifts locked safely away. He even let my son have a ride on the lawn mower! My only regret from the day was not having our ceremony at the departure lounge as they make it look so beautiful! The highest recommendations go to Simon and the team at the departure lounge and we’re already looking for another excuse to throw a party here.

Had lunch yesterday with a friend. The food here is always so fresh and tasty. Had soup and quiche with side of coleslaw and chips, it was all really delicious. Love the fire and always nice to buy a few things at the shop on the way out. Staff were lovely ☺️
