The Departure Lounge Cafe in East Hampshire

From the moment we held our son’s christening here in 2022, I knew this is the place I’d get married. Simon and the team are the most accommodating, adaptable, friendly people and deserve a medal for putting up with us and our requests. No question went unanswered, no request was too much. Simon never ever left me waiting for a reply and encouraged us to visit the venue as often as we needed to set the scene. We had 3 whole days to set up (not that we needed it as Simon and the team were on hand to make everything look perfect before we arrived). He liaised with our suppliers and kept us updated constantly! He knew exactly what we wanted and exceeded all expectations! The following morning (with some sore heads) we arrived to undress the venue to find most of it had been done for us and our cards and gifts locked safely away. He even let my son have a ride on the lawn mower! My only regret from the day was not having our ceremony at the departure lounge as they make it look so beautiful! The highest recommendations go to Simon and the team at the departure lounge and we’re already looking for another excuse to throw a party here.

Clean and airy location with good parking. Breakfast menu is good - food was tasty and plentiful. I felt that it was good value and well presented. Another popular spot for bikers to stop.

We held our wedding reception here, on can not recommend it enough, Simon and the team were amazing with a professional can do attitude delivering the wedding of our dreams. The value for money is in the setting, the layout, flexibility and the extra touches already in place to make the wedding go well. We loved all the fairy lights, barrels, easels and decor all available for us to use included in the hiring fee. The quality of all the food, service and team were first class. The reception was even packed up for us to collect which made it so much easier to do the following day!! Thank you to everyone at departure lounge for achieving our dream wedding!

We held our wedding reception at the departure lounge, it was an amazing experience where our vision for our reception was surpassed by Simon and the team. Nothing was any trouble and we were able to access the marquee 3 days before to set up making the lead up to the wedding less stressful. On the day we had afternoon tea for 30 that was the best homemade sandwiches, cakes and scones with generous serving throughout the tables. In the evening we had BBQ for 100 with butcher quality meat, vegetarian options and side dishes that served everyone with seconds. The team serving during the wedding managed the bar, cleaning up and serving food seemlessly. Our cake was cut for pudding and the. Wrapped to take home making the whole day/evening so relaxing for me as the bride. The professional but can do team makes all the difference and works out at amazing value for money with the venue setting - marquee, gardens, fire pits and cafe with plenty of parking and completely accessible enabling the most wonderful experience for us as the couple and all the guests who are raving about our wedding!!

Great place and location, staff are so friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend a trip out if you haven’t been already.

Not the cheapest place to eat but food was really nice and portions were large. As the saying goes, ‘you get what you pay for’ so all in all VERY HAPPY 😊

My daughter had her wedding here in August and we all simply had the best time. Thank you Simon and ALL staff, you were amazing, worked so hard to make sure everything went perfectly and to accommodate all our requests. The only thing wrong with the day is that it went far, far too quickly. Really appreciate everything you did and would certainly say to anyone thinking of booking..do it…you certainly won’t regret it.

Wow. Where do I even begin? We got engaged 15 months ago and as soon as we viewed The Departure Lounge as a potential venue, we cancelled all other future venue viewings. From the moment we saw it, we just knew it was the one, and Simon was fantastic. Simon kept in regular contact, happy to answer any questions and amending the invoice as and when. We had exclusive access to the venue 3 days prior to decorate which was handy, and Simon and his team took all decorations down for us, so we didn’t need to stress about doing it! Our big day was yesterday, and it was honestly the most amazing, beautiful and smoothly run day. We have had so many compliments on the venue and food, which was absolutely delicious!!!!! I honestly cannot rave about this place enough, it was truly perfect, everything we ever imagined and SO much more. A massive thank you and shout out to Simon and his team, you are absolute angels and The Departure Lounge Cafe will always have a place in our hearts. 🤍

I wanted an informal and very child and family friendly wedding and Simon made our special day just perfect. My Dads dog attended and got spoilt rotten, there were 21 children and bouncy castles, the hog roast and BBQ was to die for, I highly recommend! If you want your wedding to be perfect please choose this venue. Nothing was too much trouble for Simon and his staff. I literally can’t recommend enough. All guests said it was the BEST wedding they had ever been to. We went back the next day to load up and everything had been packed up ready to load the car, we didn’t even have to do that. We had access three days before to do as much as we wanted in preparation and to decorate. I read reviews and never write them myself but on this occasion I couldn’t not because this venue is simply AMAZING. And what makes it is the personalised and friendly approach from Simon and the staff. Don’t hesitate just book… And to review the cafe, my friends and I and my family visited many times in the run up to the wedding, the food is to die for, especially hard when you are trying to be good before a wedding, the general vibe is so welcoming and I would not hesitate to recommend this as a cafe for a bit to eat with friends and family. I attended a wedding yesterday thay were clearly told about a coeliac attending. It was a BBQ I was given a gluten free bun for a burger but I couldn't have the burger or the sausages. The chicken and lamb kebabs were gluten free but cooked with everything else I had no choice but to have some because there was nothing else to eat . Its not actually that difficult to feed someone with coeliac.this place had no understanding.anyone thinking of having an event here with guests that have special dietary requirements I would avoid it .

Such a lovely spot, tucked away but immediately next to a country view, a marquee and an aeroplane! Spacious dining area decorated in a quirky way. Fish finger doorstep Sandwich with a side of crisps and coleslaw was really tasty and great portion size too. I would recommend The Departure Lounge..

We went for a Smart Car Meet up. We had one full English Breakfast and a Bacon Sandwich and 2 hot drinks. It was good value for money.

We had our wedding at The Departure Lounge in June 2024 and had the most amazing day. Simon and his team went out of their way to make our day as perfect as he could. Simon quite literally bent over backwards to meet our needs and surpassed any expectations that we had. All of our guests commented on the venue, one stating that this is a hidden gem - we couldn't have agreed more. The food, service and everything on the day was perfect. We had our wedding celebration here and we could not have chosen a more perfect location. The staff were kind, happy and so helpful. Simon was easy to contact and made the whole experience really enjoyable. We will never forget our day here and cannot thank the team enough for their hospitality and the beautiful venue!

Went for the first time for a car meet on Sunday. What an absolutely fantastic find!!! The rural setting is beautiful and the cafe nestles very nicely into its hollow. The enormous paddock comfortably accommodated several hundred classic cars, was well marshalled, and worked very well for the meet. The atmosphere is both quirky and very laid back. Prices are very very reasonable and there is no commercial pushiness or expectation for anyone to spend money. TBH, with the right business manager they could easily have doubled their takings on the day. But my feeling is that this is not what they’re about. If you’re looking for a laid back vibe in a beautiful spot (kind of a beach bum scene but in the middle of the countryside), then this is the spot. Will definitely be returning and highly recommend.

Thank you so much to Simon and the team at the Departure Lounge Café for letting us hold our wedding with you. We absolutely loved every minute of our special day. Simon and his team made sure everything ran smoothly, and that if there was any last minute changes they was sorted easily and efficiently! The marquee was absolutely stunning, decorated to our own tasting with lights, tables, chairs, table cloths and easels included. A beautiful arch was provided for our ceremony that we could add decorations too as well. Being the first legal licenced wedding at the Departure Lounge, both me and my husband was very impressed! Simon made sure to keep regular contact with us via email and in person meetings prior to our day, so we was all on the same page. With the venue holding up to 150 guests comfortably with the café, field and marquee, there was easily enough space for all our guests and the wedding car! The food and drink was lovely with a wide selection to suit everyone, from those who wanted non alcoholic drinks , to those who are vegan or vegetarian when it came to the meal. The pricing of the venue hire is very reasonable for what is included! We highly recommend Departure Lounge to anyone looking for a venue to hold a wedding or an event!

We have eaten here for breakfast and the food is well cooked and the service is top notch. We also had our wedding here and the day was perfectly organised and relaxed. Simon could not do enough for us and helped us so much with the planning leading up to the day. It was the perfect chilled wedding that we hoping for. They also realise they are remote and provided free overnight parking for our guests which worked for so many people.

Staff are fabulous. For a Tenner I expected a first class breakfast, but I got a rubber egg, the baked beans had been microwaved into a solid lump in the middle. It tasted ok but was kept under the heater too long. Wouldn't stop me going back to give the place another go because I've heard nothing but good about the place.

The Departure Lounge does it all and they do it so well. I am a frequent visitor of the cafe and always have a nice coffee, cake or sandwich. The place is always clean, the food is fresh and the staff are friendly. This weekend we hosted our engagement party here and it was amazing. We were able to transform the place within a few hours to make it suitable for our engagement. The staff were great on the night, the service was quick, great selection of drinks and reasonable prices.

Had the Bacon sandwich which was beautifully cooked bacon in what seemed thick bloomer slices of bread, my brother had the toasted fruit bread(3 slices) with butter and jam, I had coffee brother had tea. Really good prices as well. We visited on a Thursday, and at first we were the only ones but more people did come in later on. Overall very pleasant place with friendly staff as well.

I've been a here a few times now and have always enjoyed the food. The staff are super friendly and welcoming. Looking forward to my next visit.

Our Vintage Car Club turned up at 9am over 30 people and all were served with first class food by 9.40am that's class. It's difficult to say how good a Breakfast is because of the limited number of outlets serving this meal. I had the regular Breakfast Eggs..Sausage..Bacon..Beans..Mushroom..Toast..Coffee all fresh cooked and brewed and well worth the £13.00 charge. I can recommend The Departure Lounge..Great food and great service. Try it, you may just like it.

This could be a great cafe spot but they can’t decide what they want to be. Constantly closed for private functions so you never know when to go. Very limited menu choices and staff that aren’t very helpful top it off. Used to go quite a bit years ago but find it a chore to go now.

We arrived at 11-45 having travelled 50 miles with some friends on bikes only to have a staff member come running out to tell us that they had a private party at 12-0 and were shutting. I told her.there was no notification on the web sight. Another member of staff told me they were short staffed due to illness. I would presume to say that they really just didn't want us there. The take away scone and coffee I purchased cast the very £6-0 which she didn't mind taking though.

Love it there i go once a week and more when I can the cheese cake is to good to miss

We recently hired The Departure Lounge for a private event - I can honestly say we couldn’t have chosen better. The staff were amazing and the venue were so flexible with my crazy requests and constant communication. My emails were answered within the hour, leaving me with so much confidence and total relaxation for the day. We were given ample time and help with the set up and was allowed to decorate however we wanted. I received so many compliments on the day about our choice of venue. I can’t thank Simon and his team enough. We will definitely be using them again and returning for some food. Thank you again everyone, my daughter had the best day at her 1st birthday and christening celebration. I would absolutely recommend for food and party hire.

Nice atmosphere with interesting automotive themed decor that fits the layout and location well. It could of just been a busy morning but we had to go and find the waitress to get the menu and then again when we wanted to order which wasn’t ideal. There was a good choice of breakfast combinations on the menu but unfortunately many of them weren’t available to order that morning - no eggs or hash browns or vegetarian sausages which again wasn’t ideal for a Sunday morning breakfast. The food we did manage to have was well cooked if a little cold and the staff were friendly and apologetic the whole time - I’m prepared to go again to see if we just caught them on a bad day. Update : since I wrote this I have been back three times and every time they had a full menu on offer with no choices unavailable so I clearly caught them on a rare day when they didn’t have all the items on the menu - my bad luck rather than their fault - every subsequent breakfast has been great, well cooked and generous portions - I recommend it.

It's a must, first time of being there, food lush, good value, prompt service. Will definitely return.

Where do I start……We had the most incredible wedding party at the Departure Lounge last weekend. From our first meeting with Simon (who owns and manages the Departure Lounge) we knew it was the right venue for us. We were able to personalise our celebration, safe in the knowledge that Simon and his team would pull off our dream day. From the start of the process nothing was too much trouble. Simon’s suggestions were excellent – his responses to our questions/concerns were prompt and based on our requests he was able to help us design our perfect event. A few days prior we were able to decorate the marquee – on the day itself we had the entire site to ourselves allowing privacy and ease of final setup. The day/evening was a huge success and simon and his team worked so hard to ensure our request were met – with many smiles and laughs along the way! From playing our ceremony play list to setting up the Lawn Games, to making sure our glasses were full, every detail was attended to. Infact his team are so friendly we even invited them to dance with the DJ in the closing section. The food (hog roast) was exceptional, our guests commenting it was the best they had ever had. We have absolutely no doubts about recommending the Departure Lounge as a stunning wedding venue or party venue – and you will have no regrets for making that choice for such a special occasion. Hurry, before it gets booked up…..Several of our guests have already expressed their interest in the venue.

Staff friendly Clean n tidy too

We got married here at the beginning of July and had the most amazing experience. Simon and his fabulous team so were so friendly and made the day exactly how we wanted it to go. Everyone raved about the food, especially the cheesecakes that we chose instead of wedding cake. I would highly recommend this venue if you want a wedding that is highly personal and very memorable!

Had the regular breakfast, the sausages were terrible really cheap and tasteless. Egg was small and pale not much taste there either. 1 small piece of toast and all for £9:50. Very disappointed as it is such a nice place. Owners making silly savings in buying cheap products. Won’t be coming back.

This is a regular monthly trip to meet up with friends and share breakfast. Our group can swell to 16 or more people or, like today, be as small as 6 people. The food and drinks are tasty and good quality at a reasonable price. Staff are lovely and attentive even when the restaurant is busy.

We both had a large breakfast for a change...I can only say that it was well cooked, good quality ingredients and definately large! Not the cheapest around but good value for money....we'll be back

Great monthly car show held here

Popped in for a quick working lunch whilst passing. Homely, friendly and welcoming decor and atmosphere. Good choice of food for a small cafe. Fish finger sandwiches were a winner.

Came here to see the Hillside Car Boot Sale. After some much-needed bargain hunting - we popped in to café for breakfast. The vintage and retro decor inside is a nice touch.

My Husband and I had the pleasure of working with Simon and his fantastic team to host our wedding reception. Simon and the team could not be anymore helpful if they tried. A pleasure to plan and work alongside, no request too much. Not only are they a great bunch of people but the cost is fair. Such a beautiful and private location with fantastic opportunities for photos. A beautiful space to bring all our family and friends together. We used vendors for our event which all reported the ease of the venue and communication to be on sight and plan in advance. Great cafe and lovely coffee and cakes

I am currently planning my wedding with The Departure Lounge and thought I would leave a review incase anyone else is thinking about this venue. All I can say is if you are thinking about it then stop thinking and just go for it! Simon and his team have been amazing so far in helping us plan ours! Nothing seems too much for them and he has been so helpful with ideas and answering all my questions. I have to say all my questions because he has received quite a few emails! His response time is also amazing which is exactly what you need when planning a wedding. I visited the cafe today for ideas and inspiration and overheard him with another couple and they were also very pleased with everything so far! I didn't prewarn Simon I was popping in today but he took the time out of his day to come and talk to my on multiple occasions in the time I was there to make sure all my questions were answered! I am so very excited to have my wedding at The Departure Lounge in September! I'll definitely be back multiple times before and after! Amazing cafe and venue as a whole! Thanks so much! April ❤

Called in on a group bicycle ride late Sunday morning in winter. Had a cooked breakfast. This was served quickly and with friendly service. Decor rustic inside plain wooden tables and chairs with interesting mix of pictures and memorabilia. Benches outside for warmer weather. Good for motorbikers, too.

I like this place, and it was a happy surprise when I first found it by chance. I've looked in a few time now, usually for the full breakfast but also for their cheesecake with a tea or a coffee. I've always been greeted with a smile and a friendly welcome, and the meals I've ordered are prepared to a high standard and nicely presented. As a venue the Departure Lounge is intriguing to see but also offers a comfortable, relaxing visit and can cater for the individual or larger groups too. The surrounding countryside is a joy to look at, with ample parking right there as well. They can arrange bigger functions also, so have a chat with them if that's what you have in mind. Do check them out ~ as someone else here has said the place is a gem, and I for one am pleased to have found it.

Every time we visit here we are never disappointed whether its for a full English breakfast (so good) or for a jacket potatoe or a sandwich with so many fillings to choose from, my favorite is the coronation chicken but my husband always has the prawn then complains because there is too much!!! On a very rare occasion I've had room to squeeze in a homemade millionaire shortcake but more often than not end up taking it home because even though they are delish they are a big portion , there are lots of other homemade cakes to choose from as well.why have I titled this our little piece of heaven? We so enjoy going here because the staff are lovely we always get greeted warmly by them. The cafe is cosy and very clean and we love the food, so heaven !!

Tried to have lunch with my elderly mum but although we waited 40 minutes in a very cold part of the premises, we were not served. Lady who told us which table to sit at was dismissive and nobody cared that we finally gave up and left. Don’t waste your time or money here. I’d rather give my money to a business who cares and acknowledges it’s clients. Maybe we didn’t fit the bill.

Tables are well-spaced apart although the wooden floor and spacious interior make for a somewhat noisy atmosphere as sounds echo throughout the cafe. Parking: Plenty of parking space. Wheelchair accessibility: Easy access in and out of the cafe.

Been here for breakfast before. Its a Nice friendly cafe. Stopped for lunch with my wife toady and had the sandwiches. Stuffed full of filling. Bread was proper bread, fresh and tasty. Can highly recommend and can't wait to do another "breakfast run" on my motorbike with friends.

We loved our wedding day and it was all down to the staff of the departure lounge. The food, service, decor was amazing and we will always go back for the events and tea and cake! Wonderful place to spend with the family and a great stop off for breakfast or lunch! Always be sure to check their social media to know what events are on! Love the departure lounge!! Perfect wedding venue!! Simon and the team made our day so very special and the food was amazing! So many people commented on how fab the venue is. Get creative and make something special for your big day! We will be back to the cafe for tea and plenty of cheesecake!

All I can say is wow. The breakfast was awesome, especially as you could tailor it to your own tastes. Very reasonable prices as well. The staff were great, friendly and welcoming. Definitely on my list for breakfast again.

We recently had our Handfasting at the Departure Lounge after postponing for 2 years due to covid. We couldn't have had a more amazing day, Simon has been supportive and dependable throughout the planning stages and along with Tina, Claire and the rest of the team they really made the day special. The food was fantastic, many of our guests commented on the quality of it, the customer service was above and beyond, nothing was too much trouble. We had live music, a petting zoo, hay bales, food servings at different stages and everything went smoothly. If you're looking for an event venue I highly recommend you stop looking and book the Departure Lounge, you won't regret it!

Great place for breakfast as normal

We recently had our wedding at The Departure Lounge and we would recommend them to anyone. Simon and his team are fantastic and went the extra mile for us, nothing was stressful and they were extremely helpful. We had access to the venue several days before the wedding to set up which helped us prepare and not stress when it came to the wedding day. We had the hog roast buffet which was delicious and burgers in the evening which were extremely popular! All our guests have been commenting how wonderful the day was and how fantastic the venue and staff were. We had about 120 guests in total ranging from babies to elderly relatives, having the marquee and the cafe was brilliant as it gave the older guests somewhere to sit and chat while the DJ was in the marquee. Thank you so much Simon and your staff for making our day perfect!!

My daughter and her future husband chose this place for their wedding reception. It was a brilliant choice. Simon and his team could not have been more helpful and the whole venue was fantastic. Everyone seemed to have a great time. If you are looking for a relaxed venue for an event this place gets my vote every time.
