The Departure Lounge Cafe in East Hampshire

The Departure Lounge does it all and they do it so well. I am a frequent visitor of the cafe and always have a nice coffee, cake or sandwich. The place is always clean, the food is fresh and the staff are friendly. This weekend we hosted our engagement party here and it was amazing. We were able to transform the place within a few hours to make it suitable for our engagement. The staff were great on the night, the service was quick, great selection of drinks and reasonable prices.

Had the Bacon sandwich which was beautifully cooked bacon in what seemed thick bloomer slices of bread, my brother had the toasted fruit bread(3 slices) with butter and jam, I had coffee brother had tea. Really good prices as well. We visited on a Thursday, and at first we were the only ones but more people did come in later on. Overall very pleasant place with friendly staff as well.

I've been a here a few times now and have always enjoyed the food. The staff are super friendly and welcoming. Looking forward to my next visit.

Our Vintage Car Club turned up at 9am over 30 people and all were served with first class food by 9.40am that's class. It's difficult to say how good a Breakfast is because of the limited number of outlets serving this meal. I had the regular Breakfast Eggs..Sausage..Bacon..Beans..Mushroom..Toast..Coffee all fresh cooked and brewed and well worth the £13.00 charge. I can recommend The Departure Lounge..Great food and great service. Try it, you may just like it.

This could be a great cafe spot but they can’t decide what they want to be. Constantly closed for private functions so you never know when to go. Very limited menu choices and staff that aren’t very helpful top it off. Used to go quite a bit years ago but find it a chore to go now.

We arrived at 11-45 having travelled 50 miles with some friends on bikes only to have a staff member come running out to tell us that they had a private party at 12-0 and were shutting. I told her.there was no notification on the web sight. Another member of staff told me they were short staffed due to illness. I would presume to say that they really just didn't want us there. The take away scone and coffee I purchased cast the very £6-0 which she didn't mind taking though.

Love it there i go once a week and more when I can the cheese cake is to good to miss

We recently used the Departure Lounge for my wife's 60th birthday party. The entire event was amazing - the venue was perfect, everyone enjoyed the food (we opted for the hog roast) and the drinks arrangements and bar were also first class. From start to finish Simon and his team helped us make the right choices and his staff, led by Chloe, were amazing on the night itself. And all at very reasonable rates in my view. I'd strongly reccommend to anyone wanting to arrange a similar event!

Simon is cool calm and collected about any requests we could come up with, such as hanging a big hoop with disco balls off the pole of the marquee! We had very wet weather but Simon took ownership of making sure everything still ran super smoothly between the cafe and the marquee for the hog roast, a roaming brass band, welcome drinks and everything in between. All ours friends and family said how lovely the food was and we were able to hire a food truck for the evening food. If you want to put personal touches on your wedding day but still want to have a very accommodating venue manager, caterer and bar service we couldn't recommend the departure lounge enough! We recently hired The Departure Lounge for a private event - I can honestly say we couldn’t have chosen better. The staff were amazing and the venue were so flexible with my crazy requests and constant communication. My emails were answered within the hour, leaving me with so much confidence and total relaxation for the day. We were given ample time and help with the set up and was allowed to decorate however we wanted. I received so many compliments on the day about our choice of venue. I can’t thank Simon and his team enough. We will definitely be using them again and returning for some food. Thank you again everyone, my daughter had the best day at her 1st birthday and christening celebration. I would absolutely recommend for food and party hire.

Nice atmosphere with interesting automotive themed decor that fits the layout and location well. It could of just been a busy morning but we had to go and find the waitress to get the menu and then again when we wanted to order which wasn’t ideal. There was a good choice of breakfast combinations on the menu but unfortunately many of them weren’t available to order that morning - no eggs or hash browns or vegetarian sausages which again wasn’t ideal for a Sunday morning breakfast. The food we did manage to have was well cooked if a little cold and the staff were friendly and apologetic the whole time - I’m prepared to go again to see if we just caught them on a bad day. Update : since I wrote this I have been back three times and every time they had a full menu on offer with no choices unavailable so I clearly caught them on a rare day when they didn’t have all the items on the menu - my bad luck rather than their fault - every subsequent breakfast has been great, well cooked and generous portions - I recommend it.

It's a must, first time of being there, food lush, good value, prompt service. Will definitely return.

Waits are too long for takeaway food.

Where do I start……We had the most incredible wedding party at the Departure Lounge last weekend. From our first meeting with Simon (who owns and manages the Departure Lounge) we knew it was the right venue for us. We were able to personalise our celebration, safe in the knowledge that Simon and his team would pull off our dream day. From the start of the process nothing was too much trouble. Simon’s suggestions were excellent – his responses to our questions/concerns were prompt and based on our requests he was able to help us design our perfect event. A few days prior we were able to decorate the marquee – on the day itself we had the entire site to ourselves allowing privacy and ease of final setup. The day/evening was a huge success and simon and his team worked so hard to ensure our request were met – with many smiles and laughs along the way! From playing our ceremony play list to setting up the Lawn Games, to making sure our glasses were full, every detail was attended to. Infact his team are so friendly we even invited them to dance with the DJ in the closing section. The food (hog roast) was exceptional, our guests commenting it was the best they had ever had. We have absolutely no doubts about recommending the Departure Lounge as a stunning wedding venue or party venue – and you will have no regrets for making that choice for such a special occasion. Hurry, before it gets booked up…..Several of our guests have already expressed their interest in the venue.

Staff friendly Clean n tidy too

We got married here at the beginning of July and had the most amazing experience. Simon and his fabulous team so were so friendly and made the day exactly how we wanted it to go. Everyone raved about the food, especially the cheesecakes that we chose instead of wedding cake. I would highly recommend this venue if you want a wedding that is highly personal and very memorable!

Had the regular breakfast, the sausages were terrible really cheap and tasteless. Egg was small and pale not much taste there either. 1 small piece of toast and all for £9:50. Very disappointed as it is such a nice place. Owners making silly savings in buying cheap products. Won’t be coming back.

This is a regular monthly trip to meet up with friends and share breakfast. Our group can swell to 16 or more people or, like today, be as small as 6 people. The food and drinks are tasty and good quality at a reasonable price. Staff are lovely and attentive even when the restaurant is busy.

We both had a large breakfast for a change...I can only say that it was well cooked, good quality ingredients and definately large! Not the cheapest around but good value for money....we'll be back

Great monthly car show held here

Popped in for a quick working lunch whilst passing. Homely, friendly and welcoming decor and atmosphere. Good choice of food for a small cafe. Fish finger sandwiches were a winner.

We had our wedding here in June and we couldn’t wish for a better venue it’s incredible, Simon and all of the staff were so helpful throughout the whole day and the lead up to the wedding and saved us so much stress I couldn’t recommend them enough we had the hog roast for our food and it was delicious. The communication, help and advice from the moment we approached Simon for a quote was tip top. Nothing was ever too much of an ask and he made a busy (and potentially stressful) time so easy for us. Simon and his team are genuinely nothing short of wonderful. Sophie and Tina were so lovely and helpful during the week we set up (and on the day!), and Jess and the lady behind the bar (whose name we sadly didn't get) went above and beyond in the evening to make sure everything went smoothly and that our guests (and us) had the very best time. This was not lost on our friends and family (or our photographer)... so many people have commented on how great the team were. The food was also absolutely amazing too. We had the Ploughman's spread and the hog roast. Both were fantastic and everything was of a very high quality. Our guests have not stopped talking about the brie or the pork! The wine was also delicious, and the bar very well stocked. So many of our friends have been nervous in the run up to their weddings. We never, ever had that and that genuinely comes down to knowing that The Departure Lounge would do the most amazing job. It's safe to say the team went on to exceed our expectations beyond measure! We really did have the best day, and we will forever be grateful to The Departure Lounge for that.

Came here to see the Hillside Car Boot Sale. After some much-needed bargain hunting - we popped in to café for breakfast. The vintage and retro decor inside is a nice touch.

My Husband and I had the pleasure of working with Simon and his fantastic team to host our wedding reception. Simon and the team could not be anymore helpful if they tried. A pleasure to plan and work alongside, no request too much. Not only are they a great bunch of people but the cost is fair. Such a beautiful and private location with fantastic opportunities for photos. A beautiful space to bring all our family and friends together. We used vendors for our event which all reported the ease of the venue and communication to be on sight and plan in advance. We would recommend the food at the venue and would 100% be back for future events to the departure lounge as well as the odd cheeky yummy breakfast. @simon and the team we thank you so much for making our day perfect.

I am currently planning my wedding with The Departure Lounge and thought I would leave a review incase anyone else is thinking about this venue. All I can say is if you are thinking about it then stop thinking and just go for it! Simon and his team have been amazing so far in helping us plan ours! Nothing seems too much for them and he has been so helpful with ideas and answering all my questions. I have to say all my questions because he has received quite a few emails! His response time is also amazing which is exactly what you need when planning a wedding. I visited the cafe today for ideas and inspiration and overheard him with another couple and they were also very pleased with everything so far! I didn't prewarn Simon I was popping in today but he took the time out of his day to come and talk to my on multiple occasions in the time I was there to make sure all my questions were answered! I am so very excited to have my wedding at The Departure Lounge in September! I'll definitely be back multiple times before and after! Amazing cafe and venue as a whole! Thanks so much! April ❤

Called in on a group bicycle ride late Sunday morning in winter. Had a cooked breakfast. This was served quickly and with friendly service. Decor rustic inside plain wooden tables and chairs with interesting mix of pictures and memorabilia. Benches outside for warmer weather. Good for motorbikers, too.

I like this place, and it was a happy surprise when I first found it by chance. I've looked in a few time now, usually for the full breakfast but also for their cheesecake with a tea or a coffee. I've always been greeted with a smile and a friendly welcome, and the meals I've ordered are prepared to a high standard and nicely presented. As a venue the Departure Lounge is intriguing to see but also offers a comfortable, relaxing visit and can cater for the individual or larger groups too. The surrounding countryside is a joy to look at, with ample parking right there as well. They can arrange bigger functions also, so have a chat with them if that's what you have in mind. Do check them out ~ as someone else here has said the place is a gem, and I for one am pleased to have found it.

Every time we visit here we are never disappointed whether its for a full English breakfast (so good) or for a jacket potatoe or a sandwich with so many fillings to choose from, my favorite is the coronation chicken but my husband always has the prawn then complains because there is too much!!! On a very rare occasion I've had room to squeeze in a homemade millionaire shortcake but more often than not end up taking it home because even though they are delish they are a big portion , there are lots of other homemade cakes to choose from as well.why have I titled this our little piece of heaven? We so enjoy going here because the staff are lovely we always get greeted warmly by them. The cafe is cosy and very clean and we love the food, so heaven !!

Tried to have lunch with my elderly mum but although we waited 40 minutes in a very cold part of the premises, we were not served. Lady who told us which table to sit at was dismissive and nobody cared that we finally gave up and left. Don’t waste your time or money here. I’d rather give my money to a business who cares and acknowledges it’s clients. Maybe we didn’t fit the bill.

Been here for breakfast before. Its a Nice friendly cafe. Stopped for lunch with my wife toady and had the sandwiches. Stuffed full of filling. Bread was proper bread, fresh and tasty. Can highly recommend and can't wait to do another "breakfast run" on my motorbike with friends.

All I can say is wow. The breakfast was awesome, especially as you could tailor it to your own tastes. Very reasonable prices as well. The staff were great, friendly and welcoming. Definitely on my list for breakfast again.

We recently had our Handfasting at the Departure Lounge after postponing for 2 years due to covid. We couldn't have had a more amazing day, Simon has been supportive and dependable throughout the planning stages and along with Tina, Claire and the rest of the team they really made the day special. The food was fantastic, many of our guests commented on the quality of it, the customer service was above and beyond, nothing was too much trouble. We had live music, a petting zoo, hay bales, food servings at different stages and everything went smoothly. If you're looking for an event venue I highly recommend you stop looking and book the Departure Lounge, you won't regret it!

We recently had our wedding at The Departure Lounge and we would recommend them to anyone. Simon and his team are fantastic and went the extra mile for us, nothing was stressful and they were extremely helpful. We had access to the venue several days before the wedding to set up which helped us prepare and not stress when it came to the wedding day. We had the hog roast buffet which was delicious and burgers in the evening which were extremely popular! All our guests have been commenting how wonderful the day was and how fantastic the venue and staff were. We had about 120 guests in total ranging from babies to elderly relatives, having the marquee and the cafe was brilliant as it gave the older guests somewhere to sit and chat while the DJ was in the marquee. Thank you so much Simon and your staff for making our day perfect!!

My daughter and her future husband chose this place for their wedding reception. It was a brilliant choice. Simon and his team could not have been more helpful and the whole venue was fantastic. Everyone seemed to have a great time. If you are looking for a relaxed venue for an event this place gets my vote every time.

Slow service. Average food. It took nearly an hour for eggs on toast to arrive. The staff don't ask how your food is and when you ask for sauce they tell you to get it yourself.

Nice cafe which holds monthly afternoon classic car meets on the first Sunday of each month. Large field to park in and look around. The food is really good too, good burgers with all sorts of varieties available, and the chips are cooked just right.

We booked the Departure Lounge for our sons 18th birthday party. From start to finish the experience was great. Simon could not have been more helpful while we organised the party, advising on food and drink and accommodating all our requests. The venue itself was perfect. We had a big mix of people coming, from toddlers to elderly grandparents, and it worked perfectly for everyone. The kids could play football on the field and the grandparents had plenty of comfortable seating to make themselves at home. The team working on the night didn't stop, keeping the bar moving (which Charlie and his mates did their best to drink dry!) and serving us food. We went for the Hog Roast and salads option which was ace. Tasted amazing and was a great option that seemed to suit everyone. They were also very relaxed about when the party finished. The music was in full flow and the dance floor was lively so the team just let us carry on a little longer, even though last orders had been called some time before. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Departure Lounge as a venue for an event. Simon and his hard working team couldn't have looked after us better. A big thank you to them all... and we'll be back in 3 years for our youngest sons 18th!

Last night I had the most fabulous 60th Birthday Party at this totally amazing place. The Marquee and Café were mine for the night. Simon and his staff were amazing. The Pig roast was so tender, cooked in the marquee, with delicious side dishes ....

Very slow service, one Girl frantically making drinks and taking orders. Once the breakfast did arrive it was delicious though. Get more staff!

Organised a friend’s baby shower here last weekend. Everything went perfectly. We had the place to ourselves because there was a larger event in the evening. We could arrive early and coordinate tables, place settings and then add our own flowers and decorations. Nothing was too much trouble. I could even put on our own music. Even with the evening function we didn’t really rushed or neglected. Food was stunning!!!! Just delicious! They brought out more sandwiches, tea and coffee upon request. We even got little boxes to take home left over cake. Just perfection!
