We (a group of 6) visited Langrish House on Mother's Day evening. Pre-meal drinks were had in the drawing room in front of a roaring fire. Service was impeccable. Ambiance just lovely. Menu scrumptious. Breads homemade. Superb wine list (fabulous Malbec). Each dish exquisitely presented. A platter of canapés arrived unexpectedly, as did a box of handmade sweets and chocolates with coffee. The owner popped by to say hello and when she heard we were celebrating Mother's Day promptly produced a small bouquet of spring flowers for each of the four female guests ('two mothers and two mothers of the future'). We would thoroughly recommend Fredericks and will definitely return.

We were guests at a large family party (45) on Sunday 3rd December. The food - a set menu for simplicity - was first rate and the staff were very friendly and efficient, making for a terrific atmosphere. Everyone enjoyed themselves so much that the party didn't wind down until 5pm. Highly recommended for a special celebration in a fine rural setting.

Top quality food and service. We had heard Frederick's was good, and if anything our experience was better than we expected. Sumpyuous.

My husband and I ate dinner here after visiting Jane Austen's house in Chawton. I had the saddle of lamb and my husband had the south coast crab. Both dishes were outstanding! For dessert, we ordered the mille feuille, which included a pear sorbet that was out of this world. Frederick's has an extensive wine menu, and our waiter was very knowledgeable and helpful in making suggestions. Frederick's is named after an ancestor of the owner, Nigel Talbot Ponsonby. Frederick was quite a character, and we enjoyed reading his bio while waiting on our entrees. At the end of dinner, Nigel stopped at each diner's table, and asked about our meal, which was a very nice touch. We had a good laugh about Frederick and his adventures. Frederick's is an ideal spot for fine dining, whether you're having a romantic date, celebrating a special occasion, or you have the good fortune to be a guest at Langrish House.

There are quite a few really good restaurants in the Bournemouth area, but this outshines all of them for me. The decor is cosy and in need of updating, yes, but the food is indescribably good. My husband just sat looking shell shocked for the entire meal and muttered "fabulous" repeatedly until I feared a stroke. The service is wonderful and the staff are all really geniunely charming. Just go - you'll love it, I'm sure.

We had booked into the Hotel for our Wedding Anniversary, and decided to eat in their "intimate" restaurant (only 5 tables). Our server (Sara) was a consummate professional, seating us, taking drinks orders, helping us through the menu (and scraping up the crumbs between courses, when was the last time you saw that). We placed our orders, and were offered an "amuse bouche" consisting of cheese gougeres, whitebait and salmon rillettes. The gougeres were excellent, crisp on the outside, light on the inside and nice and cheesy. The salmon rillettes full of flavour. I am not a whitebait kind of person, but my wife tucked in merrily.Starter was Heirloom Tomatoes with Mozzarella, the mousse was so light and flavourful, and the chef had even replaced the stalk for effect. It was one of those dishes where you just eat and do not stop until you are finished. My main of steak and chips (with a request for a sauce as there was not one on the menu, but no bother to the chef) is without doubt one of the VERY best I have eaten in a very long time. I will be honest, the meat looked overcooked (I had asked for medium rare) but when I cut into it, it just melted. The chips were crisp and light (and plentiful, even for my healthy appetite) and the sauce defied description, at first I thought it was just a basic sauce, but then the flavours started to wash over me, and I began to pick up the peppercorns, very clever. My wife had a crab salad, which she raved over.As we are not really sweet dessert people, we opted to share the cheeseboard, with a glass of LBV Port. All of the cheeses were matured to perfection, and set off really well by the Port. This is (as previously mentioned) one of the best meals I have had in a very long time, and took great pleasure in telling them so. I was a little shocked when I got the bill, because I did not think they had charged me enough, what I paid, for what I got was probably the best value food I have ever had.Well done to you all.We are already planning a revisit.

We had both wedding breakfast and dinner at Langrish House where the restaurant is located. The chef especially altered the menu for us and even especially learnt to make the Chinese dumplings and spicy spare ribs for us and our guests! Everyone was surprised by the chef's skills and the food became very popular. On the day, my in-laws even packed some ribs home!!

We booked Frederick's for 11 people to celebrate my father's round number birthday, and it did not disappoint. The food was excellent - quality produce, expertly cooked and sensible portions - although for some people the menu, with a choice of just three items, might seem a bit restricted. I had the quail breast which was delicious. Good table service, impressive surroundings and a well-tended garden to stroll around (if it hadn't been raining). Only two minor niggles - we had to look for someone to offer us pre-lunch drinks, and as there were only 9 chairs in the drawing room and we were a group of 11, in the absence of any staff member, we had to go out and fetch a couple of extra chairs ourselves.

I had sampled the chefs food whilst he worked and a local hotel in Midhurst as that's where my family are from, he has improved hisself at this place. Fantastic cooked food and good vale for money this is a local treasure, just needs more dinners to increase the ambiance. A must for any local in and around the hotel. Highly recommended

Having booked a late escape, short break to celebrate our wedding anniversary, we stayed at Langrish House near Petersfield. That was pretty much as we expected and enjoyed. However, the jewel in the crown is undoubtedly the totally awesome Frederick's Restaurant. We ate there both nights of our stay and can honestly say they were the most outstanding dinners ever experienced. How I wish the place was near enough to visit regularly and envy the locals in having a place of this calibre on their doorstep! To start with we were greeted with some divine canapes, quite unexpected and gave us an idea of what may be to follow... we were not let down and every mouthful was just incredible.. I ran out of adjectives to describe the food. From the minute the divine starters arrived through to the perfect pudding it was all Inventive, unusual and totally & utterly delicious. Also fabulous in the fact that the courses weren't just 'pictures on a plate' which some rather brilliant chefs do... Stunning presentation but something to also get your teeth into! Having not paced myself properly, the first night could only manage a shared pudding. I did better on the second night and spent much of that day looking forward to the exceptional dinner! Having looked at a few recent excellent reviews I concur with all of them. I can't wait to visit again. This post is late considering we were there in March but having been really busy I hadn't given it too much further thought until I was reading a review of something local to me and wishing we could get to Frederick's again... that spurred me into logging on to TripAdvisor and saying a few words about the Fabulous and Fantastic Frederick's!

Myself, my wife and eldest son had heard some very good recommendations for the restaurant. When we arrived the setting was stunning and were met by a gentleman called Steve who welcomed us into the restaurant. He even gave us some of the history to the house and made us all feel very welcome. The meal was outstanding from its presentation and everything was cooked to perfection. My wife and eldest son are both qualified chefs and everyone agreed that it was one of the best meals that we have ever eaten. We have eaten in Michelin star restaurants before and the restaurant and meal were way above the 2 Rosettes that it has been awarded. We will be coming back on a regular basis.

Recently had a Saturday lunch here. When we arrived, the place was deserted save for a man hoovering the entrance hall. We stood around like spare parts waiting for someone to attend to us. The hoovering man completely ignored us. We wondered in and out of the ground floor rooms and found no one. The 'hoovering' man continued to ignore us - party of 4.Finally a young girl appeared who took our coats and then showed us into a small empty dining room. There was a nice fire going and our table was in a bay window over looking the garden. We felt like we were in some ones house or in a private dining room as no other table was taken during our three hour lunch (there were only three other tables). The girl who took our coats came to take our order. It was a limited menu and at first glance, I was not too keen on any of the offerings. The waitress, charming as she was, was inept and had no idea about the menu. I suppose in her defence, she said it was new but I think she should have made herself familar with it before taking orders. However, she did go ask the chefs and we had our questions answered. The ineptness continued as she could not open the bottle of wine and disappeared into the kitchen to get it opened. After she poured our wine and took our order, we never saw her again. A more professional young man took over. After this disappointing start, it did get better. The food turned out to be very good, nicely presented, well cooked and very tasty. Portions are not large, my main course - goats cheese ravioli consisted of only three ravioli which I thought rather mean. However, it came with some interesting 'sides'. All our party enjoyed the meal very much and at £21.50 for three courses was still good value despite small portions as it was all very good quality. It was rather nice having the dining room to ourselves too - felt like our very own country house. Would certainly go again.

this could be a spectacular place but it completely lacks charm or any degree of professionalism. It certainly is shabby and the food is dreadful. We sent several dishes back even though we were a table of 4 with only one other table in the so called restaurant - you would have thought that a team of chefs could do better. In the end we gave up - having consulted the extremely poor wine list - they don't even have champagne by the glass we sent the first bottle back as it was corked. These guys do not know what they are doing. the waitress presumed to tell us that we didnt understand the food and that it was normal to serve duck rare not just pink while one of the owners just stared at us when we arrived and left through a glass windowed office. And it is not cheap.

When I visit my parents near Petersfield, I often bring them to Frederick's Restaurant at Langrish House - usually for lunch but occasionally for dinner. The restaurant is small and intimate and overlooks the garden. The staff are always warm and friendly and Langrish House itself feels very much like a family business. Sometimes we sit outside in the attractive garden for a pre-lunch drink or after lunch coffee. For lunch there are three options for each of three courses. The food is fresh and cooked to order and is consistently of an excellent standard.

Dining at Fredrick's is a real treat. The welcome is extremely warm, service is excellent and the food is to die for. The restaurant offers a 2 or 3 course table d'hote menu with 5 choices per course. The food is imaginative and makes good use of fresh local ingredients. All dishes are beautifully presented and are complemented by a fairly priced wine list with a suitable bottle for most occasions. The restaurant is located inside a lovely old manor house with a history going back to the Civil War. There are fine views over the grounds and the surrounding countryside in the new South Downs National Park. We are extremely lucky to live within walking distance of such a fine restaurant which we visit often.

We stayed one night and ate in restaurant. Only had starters but food was very nice. Friendly staff member called Olly. Couldn’t have been more helpful. Good nights sleep. Then breakfast !! One male member of staff who just couldn’t be bothered. Zero customer service. Got us a hot drink but no offer of fruit juice, toast or any cereal. Glasses on table too. Hot breakfast was lovely though.

Absolutely random visit! We were desperate for lunch on our way home from Guildford and hadn't made plans as to where we were going to eat. My wife spotted a brown sign with a knife and fork and 'garden centre' on it so we turned off the A31 to give it a try. We are so glad we did! The Tree House Coffee Shop is an absolute gem of a café in a family run garden centre. Lovely, welcoming, friendly staff, good food and absolutely gorgeous homemade cakes. Mrs P even got chance to spend some time with the garden centre's cat! One disappointment - we don't live nearby!!

From the moment we held our son’s christening here in 2022, I knew this is the place I’d get married. Simon and the team are the most accommodating, adaptable, friendly people and deserve a medal for putting up with us and our requests. No question went unanswered, no request was too much. Simon never ever left me waiting for a reply and encouraged us to visit the venue as often as we needed to set the scene. We had 3 whole days to set up (not that we needed it as Simon and the team were on hand to make everything look perfect before we arrived). He liaised with our suppliers and kept us updated constantly! He knew exactly what we wanted and exceeded all expectations! The following morning (with some sore heads) we arrived to undress the venue to find most of it had been done for us and our cards and gifts locked safely away. He even let my son have a ride on the lawn mower! My only regret from the day was not having our ceremony at the departure lounge as they make it look so beautiful! The highest recommendations go to Simon and the team at the departure lounge and we’re already looking for another excuse to throw a party here.
