Ye Olde Cross Keys in West Oxfordshire

We found this brilliant pub in Witney about a year ago and I wrote a very positive review about it, the atmosphere, the food and above all the really welcoming staff . Today we visited again after a drive of one and a half hours to Witney …and guess what ? It is even better than we remember , the 5 sharing plate lunch was superb, with extremely generous portions. But what makes the place so memorable is the staff, friendly, welcoming, and they cannot do enough for the customers , I can honestly say they are the most impressive team I have met in the last few years , they understand totally the concept of customer service . Congratulations to them all, we look forward to our next visit and to trying the recommended breakfast. And my wife says the cappuccino was perfect … Keith Jordan

I visited the Cross Keys on a visit to Witney this week, and what an absolutely incredible place it is. A stunning pub with delicious food and drinks, and even better staff! I was blown away by their friendly and attentive customer service, having been made to feel extremely welcome and at home despite being unfamiliar with the area. I would return to Witney just to come back here! Thank you so much!

Amazing pub with amazing people! They welcome you in with a warm heart!! I felt so welcome as soon as I stepped foot in the door!! Amazing people with such amazing energy and massive smiles! The vibes are absolutely amazing and everyone is so lovely and accepting and supportive of who you are! Food is amazing and service is great! I fully recommend if you’re wanting to go somewhere with laughter, giggles and some fun! Even if it’s for food or a drink! Great spot for breakfast. Came in for coffee and fry up on my way to Oxford, coffee was made from scratch and not from a button! will definitely be back!

We don't really know the area but found this gem of a pub in the centre of the town on an afternoons shopping trip. Really friendly staff who were very helpful towards myself and my husband who has mobility problems. The choice on the menu was great and when the friendly girl took our order she was only too happy to bring us our drinks out too. Its got a really nice little secluded garden area that we easily accessed with my husbands wheelchair. The food came quickly and was still very hot!! All served with a smile too. We will certainly come back next time we're in Witney.

Needed a quick lunch , called into the Keys . Good decision. Had the three plates option , another good decision , the food was excellent. Super customer service from the guy behind the bar ,and perfect music mix . Could have been on holiday .

First visit, met up with old friends, happened to be fathers' day and European Cup on the tv, a bit full on, but the staff were friendly and obliging and fitted us in. The food tasty and well prepared, although they'd run out of fish. Special shout out to our waitress Casey (hope I've spelled that right), who was attentive and helpful, a credit to the company.

A nice pub with a large selection of beers, but the bar staff are an absolute joke. 9.55 pm and the final whistle blows on a Euros game and the bar staff turn off all TVs and gaming machines! Basically, can you all go please. The pub was reasonably quiet anyway but when they shut it down at 10pm, people just walked out. I asked why he’d turned everything off and he said “it’s finished isn’t it!?”. No, it’s not! People who came to watch the football like to see the highlights or post match interviews. Real shame! Don’t promote yourselves as a pub where you can watch the games and then shut it down at the final whistle!!

I went to Ye Olde Cross Keys, with my family this weekend, and the staff were very helpful, attentive friendly and welcoming. The food was amazing, the place was clean, tidy and the atmosphere was relaxed with a happy vibe.

Well, we were disappointed. I should say the staff are very good and the place itself is clean enough. It was surprisingly quiet when we where there, with a couple of people watching the football, it was a Sunday afternoon. We originally ordered the fish and chips which they did not have. That happens no big deal. We reordered the scampi and when it arrived there was more plate than food. My partner said is this it? And in fairness to the waiter he said he would get us a bowl of chips as well. Whilst waiting for the chip we were joking to each other about the meal as one had more scampi than the other and the other more peas. It was funny, but for two identical meals it shows inconsistency. First time I have been here and maybe it was an off day. However, I cannot really recommend attending as the food was sparse.

Absolutely horrible. Me and my partner quickly popped in with our 12 month old son to eat something while we were shopping in witney. We ordered cheese toasties and chips as it would be easy for our son to eat, the description of the food stated 3 cheeses on the toasted sandwich. The sandwich wasn't even toasted and there was a slither of melted cheese that seemed to have been melted in the microwave. The server even forgot to bring my drink with my meal and still questioned me when I asked for it . As a chef myself something as simple as a toasted sandwich was destroyed clearly by someone in the kitchen who couldn't care less. Will not be going back. Ever

On arrival there was a board saying 20% discount for Blue Light Card so that was excellent. We ordered two drinks, two steak and ale pies and tried to have the discount deducted which was too hard to do. The manager said she could manage 10% only. Ok we had to accept that. Then the meal came. The pastry was soggy, the beef was full of fat and gristle. It was awful. There was then nobody to give feedback to as they had all disappeared somewhere. We would never recommend this place to anybody unless all you want is a drink and to watch sport. Terrible experience not to be repeated.

This has to be the best place, and most affordable place in Witney! Staff are really friendly and accommodating. I try to visit once a month when visiting family!

We have frequented this pub several times of late and always met with a smile from the landlady and the amazing staff ❤️ we chose not to eat today but we've never had a bad meal from Ali in the kitchen I meant to do the reveiw but we ended up staying for a few drinks afterwards because the venue is so welcoming you don't want to leave ❤️

Every time I visit Ye Olde Cross Keys, the service just gets better & better. Nick and the team are doing a grand job in keeping everyone informed and safe. We always come to this pub when we are in the area visiting family. Food, drink and service are all great and nothing is ever too much and with the recent pandemic they seemed to have everything in place to make us feel safe. I have been to Ye Olde Cross Keys a few times this year and each time I felt VERY safe with all of the Covid measures in place, as well as very welcome by the brilliant team. The food has been consistently delicious as well as very reasonably priced. The new 'Bottomless Brunch' option is a must, I have been twice now and both times was really impressed with the food options and the service. Emma in particular has always been brilliant whenever I have visited - she is bubbly, super friendly and will always make sure you have a wonderful time.

Really glad we visited ... fabulous staff and food. We called in on a rainy day to while away some time before a scheduled visit at the famous Teddy Bear Shop. The landlord or head barman checked us in and we were served good quality wine and ales. The gent owner was a great character and was incredibly proud of his establishment. My husband and I enjoyed his banter and we would definitely visit again. We enjoyed a chicken sharer and chips which were very freshly cooked. It was warm and cosy inside and we watched as the rain turned into hail stones and were glad to be in such good company. Highly rate this lovely pub ! Xx

I bring my family here regularly for food as the chef, Ali, is amazing. The manager, Nick, is welcoming and funny, the assistant manager, Emma, is both professional and friendly. The whole team bring a smile to customers' faces and makes the visit well worth it. The Covid measures are kept to high standards, too!It's also an amazing place to work.I highly recommend visiting!

Best staff a pub has to offer nick the manger is so funny and great at his job making sure the pub is safe and also fun at the same time all measure are in place for covid so if you fancy a fun but safe night out then go here and breakfast is only £3.49 WOW

I came here for a Sunday roast with my husband and 2 children and I have to say that it was one of the best dinners we’ve had out in months! Everything was cooked perfectly, our food and drink came within 20 minutes of ordering and we where greeted by many helpful staff. Well done!

Had lunch at the Ye Old Cross Keys, excellent Covid protocol. Very friendly staff and explained how things worked. Both my wife and I had the beer battered cod, minted mushy peas and chips. All freshly cooked, lovely flavoured fish. Great place for lunch.
