The staff were extremely helpful accommodating our need to change time for Sunday lunch. 3 of us went and we all opted for roast as a treat. I fancied pork, but on this particular Sunday beef was the only option. The beef was tender and done perfectly for rare, as I like it. However for £23 being plated up only 1 slice of beef seemed a little stingy. The Yorkshire pudding was amazing but I would have preferred more veggies as the meal was served with creamed leeks, parsnips, cabbage and roast potatoes. The roast potatoes were beautifully crunchy on the outside with soft centres and were by far the best of the vegetables. We didn't have dessert. The Guinness was well poured and fresh. The waitresses were attentive without being intrusive and the men's toilets were clean. Overall a nice atmosphere in a cosy setting but not the best value for money, in my opinion. There was sufficient parking and it is a decent location

On arrival at The Crown, the staff were so welcoming and friendly. Matt and his team are excellent hosts and could not have been more helpful. My friend and I stayed in The Great Tew room and it was absolutely outstanding. Everything is of the highest quality, even down to the homemade biscuits provided with the high end tea and coffee. The bathroom was stunning with a beautiful stand alone bath with two bath robes. There were even small bottles of fresh milk and water in a little fridge on the landing for you to help yourself. We ate in the restaurant on the first night and the food was superb as was the breakfast every morning. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend The Crown to anyone. I will definitely be going back.

I was tempted to desist from reviewing the Crown Inn: sometimes we want a special place to remain unheralded so that it can remain unspoiled. This is the perfect village inn, with cosy corners for a hard winter, an airy garden room for the summer, and clean loos, all set in a village that looks and feels as an English village should, with tidy cottages, hollyhocks by the roadside and a mediaeval church with walks into the countryside. The food is excellent, with some old-fashioned favourites and some newer quirky vegetarian dishes that have wide appeal. And the service is wonderful.

Excellent! The service from the staff was great - attentive, accommodating and friendly (special thanks to Manuella!). You can tell they care about their guests. Same for the restaurant with about the best food we had in our 2 weeks in UK - well thought out and presented nicely. Our room (studio) was perfect - really nice modern design in a 16th century building with a true king-size bed which was likewise the most comfortable bed we had in UK. A bit of a splurge price wise for our family of three but absolutely no regrets - would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Having just set up camp locally and popping to the shops to get food & supplies, we soon realised/remembered that it was of course 6pm on a (bank holiday) Sunday and everything was shut. I called local pubs/restaurants & of the 5 or 6 places I tried, the only one who were serving food and had a table available was The Crown...and I'm glad they did! Well-handled phone calls and the service was equally as efficient and friendly during our visit. It was only a quick bite, as we had 3 under 5's but the food and drinks were fantastic. Admittedly I was really hungry after a long day packing, travelling & setting up camp, but I think it was the best burger I've ever had. The wife's cocktail was well balanced & properly made so she was also happy, but maybe the biggest sign of success - the 3yo & 5yo both fed themselves & cleared their plates without question - no means feat, let me tell you. Having not intended on eating out, it was more than I would have wanted to spend - it's not cheap, but it shouldn't be when it's this good. Beautiful pub in a lovely setting, genuinely excellent food & really friendly & efficient service.

With all the rich moving into the area the pub and restaurants are now becoming too expensive and exclusive. It's good that local tradesmen and single mums have found a welcome here. They can park kids behind a bag of crisps in the bar. They can shout and use the F word loudly and frequently. With this crowd the staff become distracted and unattentive and there were very few diners. The food with catering to small numbers becomes ordinary. The range of wine by the glass is excellent but for fizz only cheap Prosecco now. I have been a regular occasional diner here for more than 30 years. How the place has changed. I prefer eating in the bar as it is warmer than the cold restaurant at the back. If you want a meal without the above you must use the restaurant. By the way with service charge for two the meal was nearly £200. The 'floor show' being free.

Booked in advance, we arrived to a really friendly welcome. It’s a cozy country pub restaurant, roaring fire, lots of locals plus outsiders like ourselves. Lovely feel and vibe to the place, relaxed and well decorated yet Cotswolds charm but not up itself. The staff worked so hard, serving drinks, food in the restaurant area and also seeing people to their rooms, yet very friendly and unstressed. Slightly late on our part, we sat down and were not rushed at all. Choosing from a varied menu we had some of their home made bread and different butters to munch on, lovely and hot and tasty. We followed this with starters of Turkish eggs, duck poached egg on a crumpet and crab and lobster Thermidor with a roll. Having tried all of these I would recommend any of them. With the mains we had two halibut dishes coming with a celeriac remolade, mallard, and the risotto. There were items on the menu which we asked the ladies to tell us what they actually were and they had to go off and ask the chefs so maybe they could have be informed better. But was not a problem as we got the answers soon enough. We also had seasonal veg sides and chips. They also had classics like fish and chips etc but is nice to go off piste and have something you wouldn’t normally have maybe at home. Finally desserts of ice cream, chocolate tart and lemon mousse, this was a really great selection of food. The staff were outstanding throughout. I would definitely go again. Parking wasn’t the easiest but was to be expected in a small village and we were only a few minutes away. Great find in the Cotswolds. Enjoy

An ungentrified pub, (yes you can have a drink without food here), which also has absolutely delicious food - shout out to the crab and kimchi starter with warm homemade bread and the excellent fish and chips. Excellent food and service even though it was busy. We will definitely visit again. They make their own pies which are delicious.

We had Sunday Dinner where the beef was meltingly soft and the veggies were varied and cooked perfectly, then we had evening meals twice they were tasty - also the wine is lovely. Great service - so polite and friendly without going overboard.

Had Sunday lunch with a large family group. Pre-ordered our food which made the process smooth. The food was excellent. I had the lemon tart for desert which was amazing. Friendly efficient service too. Well done.

We stopped here purely by chance after visiting the Hook Norton Brewery. The food was absolutely delicious and freshly cooked. The staff were also very friendly and efficient. We will definitely pay a return visit when in the area next.

Slightly baffled. Not too sure why it was so unwelcomely enforced to wear a mask inside, especially as staff didn’t always - their pub, their rules…… Sunday lunch and quite a bit ‘unavailable’ on the menu. Conservatory had a nice mix of flies and wasps…....

This is a gorgeous inn with the most friendly attentive service and such a calm, warm and cosy atmosphere. The food is such good quality with amazing tasting vegan food, full of flavour. We were so lucky to find this place and will certainly be back. Thank you for the exceptional hospitality 💕

First timer and the experience was five stars all the way. I had the meaty breakfast which was brilliant and fresh and loads to eat. My daughter had the avocado on toast with a beautiful poached egg. Again it was excellent. We loved the decor and vibe of the cafe too. Service was superb and it really is dog friendly too. You must visit.
