The Plough Inn in West Oxfordshire

This place is absolutely amazing, the people are so friendly the staff are amazing. We were made to feel just like one of the locals. The food was out of this world, I would drive 2 hours to enjoy a portion of their chips, they are the best chips I have ever had the pleasure of eating, and the Sunday roast was just as good as the bar food. The pods are so cozy and comfortable, they have everything you need for your stay and they are just perfect. I couldn't recommend this place enough outstanding in every way. And we can't wait to see you again.

Absolutely amazing place, food and service was outstanding. Its a long story but we were on holiday in charlbury and looked for a traditional pub locally with a good menu for children and adults. I had phoned ahead to check kitchen times as we were planning on visiting via the 5 mile walk from charlbury to finstock, spoke to a chap called guy, he was fully booked as it was the Easter holidays but said if I phoned before we set off he would accommodate us all for chips and drinks (11 of us) we arrived, he was super busy as the food looked and smelt amazing, so I could understand why he was so busy ....so u defo need to book in advance, any hoo he delivered on his promise, a warm welcome, and banging chips (as the kids said) after a few hours and a few of the Old Rosie's we left and booked to return as a smaller group as he had mentioned Thursdays was his fresh fish night. We returned and had the vip treatment, we both (adults) went for the seabass and the skate.....wow, gorgeous food and once again great service. Couldn't fault anything! And we will definitely return again! It seemed nothing was too much for Guy and his team.

What a great few nights we had. The pods were amazing clean and very comfortable. And the meals were excellent. Thank you for looking after us, and making us very welcome.

We travelled to meet our daughter and partner who were staying at the lodges on site and met for mother’s day lunch . We went there to meet for a family get together and not by any recommendations. From the moment we walked in we were given a wonderful welcome ,as if we were local friends . The service was incredible , professional , friendly and efficient. We had the 3 course lunch and I can honestly say it was the best Sunday roast we have ever had. My daughter lives in London and so there is plenty to choose from but this rated higher . The food was cooked to perfection and I cannot thank the team that worked there for a wonderful afternoon . We will be travelling back to the pub ( this time just for the food ). Can’t wait to visit again xx

First time visiting this nice village pub. Took our parents out for Sunday lunch. We had the Beef and Lamb roasts which were delicious. Good portions and great service. Would definitely recommend this pub if your passing.

Perfect country pub with real ales and a real fire 🔥 Great service and delicious food. The fish and chips my partner ordered was in a delicious light tempura batter and the real homemade chips were to die for. I had scallops with samphire and Parmesan risotto… so tasty. Fantastic unpretentious pub in a quiet village set in lovely countryside with great walks from the door. Fine selection of local ales and really excellent lunchtime food brilliant sandwiches and more substantial dishes - great use of local ingredient's such as venison. Been here several times in last six months and place has never let us down - friendly staff and interesting music selections too. Great spot if you're in the area

Called in just for a quick pint after work but the food smelled so good we decided to share the homemade fishcake starter. It was delicious! Full of fish and prawns and a perfectly poached cacklebean egg - really, really tasty. Highly recommended

I have never been in such a friendly pub, with such a great atmosphere. The food was second to none, both me and my partner said its the best meal we've ever eaten out. Guy and the team are so friendly and accommodating. We cannot wait to return here next year, and hope to stay in one of the pods they have there!

Lovely hosts, Guy and his staff are SO friendly After a 3 hour journey from Yorkshire the seats by the fire were like heaven The food is amazing, fish and chips cooked to perfection and the wagu burger was something else, melted in the mouth! Birthday cake for husband was delicious too - shame to share it with the kids lol Will definitely be back!

Extremely disappointed to have pre booked a table of six for Friday evening and then on arrival most of the starter and main course menu was unavailable and sold out !! Having eaten here several times before and always found staff, food and service excellent it’s a shame they can’t cope with ordering enough food for pre booked tables to have a choice !!!

Excellent meal. Sea bass was perfect and the grand mariner cheesecake fantastic- but very filling!!

The pub is in a charming village and is small and cosy with a beautiful fire place. The staff were amazing, friendly and provided 5 star customer service. The food was incredible, tasted amazing and well presented. Highly recommend

My friend and l wanted a little break away. We love Oxfordshire and came across The Plough Inn, Finstock. We liked that they had modern pods to rent which were close to the pub itself. We booked initially for one night to ensure we would like it. We were greeted by the Manager Guy who took us to our pod and explained throughly what was available in there and if we needed anything at whatever time then we could call him. The pods were exceptionally clean with the most comfortable bed l have every stayed in. We had dinner that evening in the pub and the food was absolutely outstanding. We spoke to Guy that evening and asked could we book another night. We were almost in tears when we had to leave. Honestly one of the nicest, friendliest places l have ever been. Whoever there Chef is they are outstanding cooks. We are just looking now at when we can go back again. Thank you to everyone at The Plough xx

We stayed in the fabulous new Pods. Modern , smart , warm & cosy with everything you need! Comfy beds , spotless and great value for money . Additionally the food in the pub is fab and so are the staff !!

This pub is awesome. The landlord is extremely nice - as is the rest of the staff. Food is always A-MA-ZING (and it’s our third time there), and it is also very good value for money. We love it here and will keep coming back when in the area. Very much worth a visit if you are in the area.

What a great find, a truly hidden gem!!! Fish and chip Tuesday fish was well flavoured and consistant portion size, chips well light and fluffy highly recommend excellent value for money, Steak Thursday!! Well what can I say steak was cooked perfectly like butter, Jordan is an amazing chef has an amazing pallette very good home cooked food at a much higher standard and excellent value for money. Our server Emily was delightful a real asset to the team. Guy is a wonderful host, everyone was so welcoming and we will definitely be returning at some point in the future. Not forgetting Hugh the greyhound an amazing buddy for our dog Primrose. Well worth a visit whether it's just for a drink, meal, or a bottle of wine and a cheese board highly recommend. So nice to be made so welcome by some really wonderful humans.

One of the best Sunday lunches! Wonderful roasts, scrummy veg, home made yorkshire pud and tasty gravy! What more could you wish for? Excellent real ale and lovely staff. Oh yes and excellent value for money!

This pub is features early on in "Dog-friendly pub-walks: Cotswolds" —for a good reason I'd say. The forest/field walk around it was diverse, lovely and only slightly muddy. The pub had a good wine selection and the food was exquisite, especially their crunchy chips. The manager allowed us to place our order a bit after the two pm cutoff so that was great bonus!

We always call in for a meal at The Plough when we are visiting the area. The landlord knows us as as Mr and Mrs St Albans (our home city)! This is a super pub and restaurant and Guy and his team are always very welcoming.

We stayed one night in the new cabin/ pods recently invested in by the owner Guy and his team. What a fabulous stay ! From the moment we arrived Guy was the consummate exemplary host. Nothing was too much trouble. The pub had a wonderful atmosphere and you could sense the clientele were enjoying every moment. The food looked high quality and the range of drinks available was first class. The rooms were spotless, immaculate and very quiet. Everything you could wish for was provided including a great continental breakfast delivered to your door in the morning. I can’t rate this place highly enough. Give it a go, you won’t be disappointed. I’m glad to say I know I will be going back.

My boyfriend and I were in the cotswolds for a weekend away and the atmosphere of this pub is so lovely and homely. The staff were friendly fun and attention. We have a great Sunday roast along with some drinks. Highly recommend

My wife and I had lunch here on bank holiday Monday with a friend of ours from Birmingham. It's a great half-way venue, since we leave in London. We meet up here every 6 months or so, and the food and service are always excellent!! Such a pleasure, always. We hope to keep coming for many years to come!

We stayed in one of the new Pods at the Plough in Finstock over the August Bank Holiday with our grandchildren and our little dog. We had an absolutely fantastic time, we all enjoyed staying in such unique and 'quirky' accommodation. Our grandchildren (aged 9 and 5) absolutely loved it. There's loads to do in the local area - great walks, fishing, Blenheim Palace (The Adventure Play Park and the Whomping Willow tree from Harry Potter!), Pottery, Punting - I could go on! We ate in the pub on the Saturday night - loved the quality of the food and the relaxed atmosphere that was so welcoming for not just the adults but the children and our dog as well. Our hosts (Guy, Jordan and Emily) were just perfect and nothing was too much trouble. The pod was exceptionally clean and equipped to a really high standard. I would have no hesitation in recommending a stay in the pods at the Plough in Finstock if you are looking for something a bit different to the norm

We walked there from Charlbury on a day when all trains from Oxford had been cancelled. The landlord was most accommodating and five of us were delighted with the choice of proper ale. The food was of a decent restaurant standard and probably on the expensive end of pub food but not outrageous for a competent restaurant. There is a welcoming snug by the fire for walkers that was much appreciated after a bit of a soggy walk.

I was asked to do a Lunch for 21 people. It worked out very well. Everyone was pleased with the lunch. Some even went as far as to say so ! Service was very good and the food all up to standard and beyond.

Decent food but under staffed and over priced for what it is …Didn’t appreciate attempts from manager or owner to be placed outside ,i was told I booked outside three times when I knew I hadn’t ! Was then seated on the worst table in the restaurant next to a fire exit where customers repeatedly came in and out ,he then lied about another table not being available due to bookings but then it was free for the next two hours .Look he was friendly enough but I didn’t like his dishonesty I would rather travel to to Bourton as there are much better places with better service for the same price or less .The blonde waitress was very polite and genuinely helpful he may need another one of her to improve his business and he should talk to customers less .

Dined here for 2 in February. The local prawns for starter were delicious, followed by steak and a burger. Service and atmosphere were excellent! All menus had amazing variety and the food was served quickly and it was delicious!

A very pleasant pub with attentive friendly staff. Terrific fireplace really added to the atmosphere. Had Sunday Lunch - was excellent although the ‘Soft Goats Cheese Salad, was not good value at all with a pitiful amount of cheese leaving just the after taste of sharp red onion. The Crab on Sourdough, Roast Beef (Sirloin) & Lamb were prepared to perfection. Excellent selection of well kept Cask Ales. Not a cheap experience but overall a delightful one - we will definitely be back
