We loved it. Perfection location and the quintessential English pub. Outstanding food and service and the ambiance, decor is so wonderful. The highlight of our Cotswolds trip. Near to Jeremy Clarksons new pub as well so this little area is the perfect spot for a weekend spent in the pub. Well done Swan.

We have been to the Swan many times and have always looked forward to the occasion but today was a visit we wish to forget and will not be returning. I ordered the, Rare roast beef salad, crisp potatoes, red wine dressing & horseradish aioli £19 All I can say is that I feel ripped off ! 5 slices of wafer thin beef, Carpacio thickness As for the Crisp potatoes, there were about 6 what looked like kettle crisps ! I did speak to the waitress about it when she asked if everything was ok, she said she would pass on my comments. For £19 it was very poor hence we will not be returning

My son and I stopped at The Swan in Swinbrook for an impromptu Sunday lunch. We had not made a reservation so were lucky to get their last available table. The service was friendly and food absolutely delicious: for starters, my son had the chilli squid and I ordered the stilton souffle which had delicious veggie/fruit accompaniments. For mains, we had cider-battered haddock and hot smoked salmon, again with a lovely veggie mix. Greed then overtook us and he finished the meal with the fruit crumble and I had ice-cream. We then waddled down to look at the pretty river running alongside the pub and have an obligatory game of Pooh Sticks. A thoroughly enjoyable meal all round. And PS, if you are a fan of "Clarkson's Farm", they serve Jeremy Clarkson's Hawkstone beer which is brewed just down the road - it got the thumbs up from The Son 😊

What a pub!! Absolutely fantastic service, food, drinks, surroundings and atmosphere. A Cotswold pub in peak season is always going to be busy however the staff here take it all in their stride. We arrived during a busy service and we were served promptly and efficiently. The menu is seasonal and tasty, portions generous and service with a smile to boot. I particularly recommend eating in the garden for a quintessential Cotswold experience.

During a recent family holiday to the Cotswolds, I ate lunch at The Swan Inn with my partner and toddler. We were all warmly welcomed by the staff and shown to a lovely table next to a log-burning fire. The Swan Inn itself is a beautiful, genuine English pub with a fascinating history. The staff who served us were extremely attentive, even going so far as to check whether the nearby speaker was at a comfortable volume for us. We were served excellent, uncomplicated food and I very much enjoyed a local draught lager. The next time we are in the Cotswolds, we will definitely be returning to The Swan Inn.

We were staying nearby and wanted to eat somewhere different to where we were staying. Booked on line without any problem. Arrived early but were given a cosy corner table where we could see everyone coming and going. We skipped starter and went straight in for the main course of sole with new potatoes, French beans and a butter raisin sauce. A combination that worked so well. Though the beans were tough, probably steamed. Staff were attentive, chatty and made us feel welcome, without being over bearing. Thoroughly enjoyable and would recommend it without hesitation.

The menu is a vast and meandering affair of gastropub-style dishes, from soup and parfaits to pig’s cheeks and Cornish lobster, haunch of local venison and Cajun-spiced burgers to a chocolate pot, cheesecake, Eton mess and sticky toffee pudding. It was the upside-down swan made writ. I started with a little pot of chicken-liver parfait and toasted sourdough with a heap of salad leaves. The parfait was a little too chilled, which of course renders it hard and makes it lose its flavour; the fault, if I may be so bold, of a too-large menu.

The UK, the Cotswolds in particular, are littered with supposedly great little gastro pubs with rooms. From experience, many/most are awful - overpriced rubbish. The Swan, however, is the real thing. Fabulous location, pretty village, lovely old pub, very good food (great full English breakfast) and professional attentive staff. Really, an absolutely spot on experience! I marked the room as 4/5 only because ours needed a spruce up, with some damaged furniture tops by the bed and loose floor tiles in the bathroom letting it down. Nothing that couldn’t be dealt with in a few hours. The bed was clean and comfortable and the towels were just as you would hope. Very nice accommodation and with parking right outside the door, if you arrive in time. This one goes on the list (a short list) of really great places for time away!

We went for my birthday meal when we were away in the Cotswolds, we were so disappointed with the food and for £95 it was shocking really. The monkfish is flavourless and overcooked in a bowl of crab bisque which was quite frankly the worst thing ive ever tasted. Steak was nice but remove that monkfish and bisque from the menu seriously. We got home and went to our local for a 3 course meal for £66 and it was 10000x better. Sorry but the chef needs to work on their choices of dishes and flavours massively. Presentation ok but Stilton soufflé also tasted of nothing but herbs

Wonderful meal with great menu, staff, food and ambiance! Possibly the best meal in the Cotswolds for many a year! Cannot find fault in anything other than perhaps putting the vintage of the wine on the menu to better gauge value for money and turning off the incredibly bright light shining into the dining room?

Would like to say a Huge thank you to Stephen and his staff. Also a big thank you to Barbara head of Housekeeping. We had been left thinking we would have no where to stay after our disastrous first evening at another hotel in Dorchester. We travelled another half an hour to Swinbrook after seeing how beautiful the Swan Inn looked. We had no booking so we're hoping that they would still have vacancies available as we were celebrating our 42nd Wedding Anniversary as we had travelled 4.5 hours the previous day. From the moment we arrived Stephen the Manager went above and beyond to help us. We were shown 2 rooms that were both beautiful and exceptionally clean. We decided to stay in the Windrush River Cottage that had it's own entrance, it was absolutely worth every penny the location was beautiful the staff exceptional and Barbara head of Housekeeping was the most loveliest person we have ever met, she couldn't do enough for us. We decided to book a table in the restaurant each evening especially as we were celebrating the following evening. Again, the food was of Michelin star quality WITHOUT the expensive prices . There are not enough words to praise this Gem of a find. Would fully recommend The SWAN INN AT SWINBROOK near BURFORD. We enjoyed it that much we booked for next year whilst we were there. Again, THANK YOU, you all made our few days away a fantastic memory that will stay with us for always!

Dismal dull and dark, this pub could be good. Some of the staff are outright rude and abrupt as if customers were a nuisance! Rubbish bins in the garden full even though we arrived early for lunch! The place had a ‘whiff’ which wasn’t pleasant, unsure if it was rancid fat or just on old dirty building. The food did not fair much better, overpriced for average to poor selection and cooking skill. Wine totally overpriced. Certainly would NOT recommend. We visited previously and thought it must have improved but no, even worse.

We were lucky it was ‘vinyls night’ so were treated to some great music while we were having drinks in the bar. Highly recommended, I’m sure we will be back soon

First timer and the experience was five stars all the way. I had the meaty breakfast which was brilliant and fresh and loads to eat. My daughter had the avocado on toast with a beautiful poached egg. Again it was excellent. We loved the decor and vibe of the cafe too. Service was superb and it really is dog friendly too. You must visit.

Visited with a friend for a bit of a business meeting/dinner followed by an overnight stay. It was everything we could have asked for and Hattie, who looked after us on arrival and through the afternoon and evening, was a superb host. Dinner (and breakfast) was great - good choice on the menu and very tasty. Rooms were smallish but perfectly fine, beds comfortable and my room had a spacious bathroom. Overall, a great place for a night out or an overnight stay.
