Amie has been incredible, i told her about my cinnamon allergy and she went above and beyond to make sure none was anywhere near me. from changing my friends glass to going to the outside bar from inside to make them aware aswell. This girl is an absoloute asset to your team, and we are so very grateful for her hospitality!

Went in on the off chance for a light lunch on Saturday (30th July). It was full inside but seating outside. There is a bar outside too. Ordered a mezze to share and a fish finger sandwich. The food and drink service was very good and quick, the food was lovely. The staff are all very professional and friendly. Jamie was working on the bar outside and he was very attentive and professional, he was very good humoured and made the visit for the three of us very enjoyable. It is obivious Jamie is knowledgeable about the products and passionate about his work. Thank you Jamie for making it such a relaxed and fun visit for the three of us. We hope to be back soon.

Came all the way down to Sandbach from Haworth W. Yorks to collect some vinyl I'd ordered from my old mate John Beddows of Backtrax records in the market. After a bite to eat in The George I fancied a quick pint before my train back to Crewe. As I used to live in Alsager I already knew the town from many visits so I thought I'd pop into The Bear as it looked, as it always has, quite interesting. Sadly, they were only taking money off families filling their faces. No room at the Inn. Ended up walking all the way back to the station for a quickie in The Midland instead. The vinyl sounds great anyway...

Recent change of ownership means it's very cocktails and trendy staff. That's ok if service and food is great but they aren't. Mostly paninis and burgers. Not a lot of choice but again not a problem if good but 3 of our meals were wrong and had to go back. Even the bill was wrong. Very old beams and cosy corners. Hope it finds its stride.

Nice pub, good beer and pleasant surroundings - staff having a loud shouted (and lengthy) conversation across the lounge bar spoiled it - two of us were having a chat and had to raise our voices over the yelling. Maybe a one off? Inconsiderate though. Pleasant beer but with so many pubs in marketplace I'm not drawn back after this ringside seat to a yelled dialogue.

Really impressed with the black bear in Sandbach. Came in for Saturday lunch and the quality was spot on. Well made, excellent ingredients, good salad and the chips were chunky and red hot. The owners are passionate about there pub and very approachable. Do visit here if you're in Sandbach!

This guy really knows what he is doing. Add to that - dogs are welcome in the bar area where they are not in many other Sandbach pubs. Great beer and wine selection, but most importantly, I asked for a rump steak cooked rare and it actually came out perfectly cooked rare. So often, rare seems to mean well done to other pubs/restaurants. We'll be back for certain where we have previously kind of abandoned Sandbach town centre pubs in favour of areas further out. Well done, new landlord.

Been back to the Bear a few times now since the new owners took over, and what a transformation! Food is brilliant, beers are varied and tasty again, and the whole place just has a better vibe, the bar staff are lovely and always up for a bit of banter! Check out their Friday night live music, the best in town! They've also spruced up the outside seating area too, the heaters are so hot that you don't notice the cold nights. The Bear has definitely gone back to being our chosen local pub of choice :)

Very atmospheric old building with lots of charm and character and looks to be recently renovated. Went for lunch, which was okay, I had Cajun chicken and fries which I enjoyed, my friend had the mushroom stroganoff which she found a bit dry and only a small amount of sauce. It was supposed to come with garlic bread which didn't arrive and when we queried it was told they had none. We we offered chips instead but they arrived about 10 mins after we had finished our meal. They were very apologetic and I think these are only teething problems under the new management. Staff were friendly and tried their best for us.

Well I visited the "new black bear" to be told I couldn't kiss my girlfriend at the bar, there was nothing gratuitous about what we were doing but I was told it's a family pub and it was inappropriate, the ironic thing is that they are quite happy to serve some of the well known drug dealers in town, maybe getting a good doorman over weekend and learning why the plates is empty is of benefit, but that's why they've had 4 managers in 12 months!

Picked this pub at random from the many black-and-white-timbered buildings in Sandbach's attractive market square. Food was OK, value impressive (our "light bites" were of generous proportions at less than a fiver each) but the service, while friendly enough, was decidedly disinterested. A couple who came in after us were pointed in the direction of the menus and then ignored for 10 minutes.....after which they simply walked out without ordering. Can't say I'm terribly surprised.

The pub had just opened on a busy market day, my friend and I just called in before lunch the landlord was a very nice and polite chap, very chatty and very knowledgeable about his wines and the menu looked very nice with reasonable prices, will check out the menu definitely when we have more time, unfortunately we had an appointment to go to, but one white wine and soda was all we had time for.

When we visited, the staff were new (only their 3rd day) but they made us very welcome and the food was excellent. Good value too, 2 courses at lunchtime for £8.95. Vegetables were fresh and the soup of the day was so thick and full of tomatoes that you could almost stand your spoon up in it! Useful place to know if you are travelling on the M6 and, like us, hate motorway service stations. You can park for free in car park near Waitrose, two minutes from the pub.

This place has sadly let us down a few times recently, suddenly there was no Chef and then there was a very limited menu. The sad thing being that this place was once an outstanding venue and no-one could beat it, the food used to be excellent and the service was once exceptional. Very sad that a once well run pub and food outlet has now bit the dust.

Chose this pub due to the cosy interior and the warm welcome the staff extend.Had a lovely meal, nice home cooking. The others had the pie and I had the scampi - all was lovely and hot and plenty of it. Bit of a breather before we went for the pudding! If you want a nice meal out, in nice surroundings - how an English pub should look then call in here.Good selection of food on the menu. Will call in again next time in the area. Wish it was my local.

We called into Sandbach to see the crosses in the market place. On looking for a place for lunch, we were spoiled for choice as there are many places to eat in and around the market place. We dont know why we chose this pub but we are glad we did.The menu has something for everyone from main meals, sandwiches, light bites etc. There is also a lunch club were a selection of 5 choices are very reasonably priced. I went for the lunch club scampi and chips with peas and tartare sauce. My other half had soup and a sandwich. There is also a good selection of wines, beers and local ales. The pub seems to have undergone a major refurbishment as all the decor seemed now and in keeping with such an old building. The management team have only been running the pub for about 3 months but I can see them running it for quite a while if this is there normal standard for food and the environs.

This was a first time visit as a family group Was a bad customer experience journey as asked for a table of six - a young girl asked her colleague if they was a table of 6 where she rudely answered her colleague and pointed to her to seat us over there - where we was directed to so we sat down we explained we were waiting for 2 members to join us. Table set for 6 we were there for 10-15 mins when then we was told quite rudely that this table is booked . We were then told we could sit at another table which seem like a function room where we were those the only people in menus more of less thrown at us no place settings lights off so dim and dark. And cold Decided after being treated as thou we were an inconvenience and made to feel very uncomfortable we left but I did mention why we was leaving with the staff and look like the manager was there when I was saying first time in the pub and certainly the last had the girl arguing saying you said 4 and it was my fault more of less take or leave it. Shame as the food and pub was on recommendation- As Robinsons pub are always are a good but Wow what rude staff
