The Sunday carvery is great deal for the price if you go other pubs you are paying a lot of money for less. Cheap for a family to go. And have money left be going every Sunday from now on

Firstly, a long wait to be served at the bar. In all areas, the place was understaffed. The tinned melon balls, for a starter, were horrible: a stringy, difficult-to-eat texture and a strange taste. I left them. For main course, the duck and vegetables were cold; I asked for them to be microwaved up. There wasn't much taste in the processed vegetables. There wasn't much special about the little Xmas pudding. But I really enjoyed the cheese and crackers. Will be going somewhere else next Christmas.

Well my friend Helen and l visit Crewe quite often for the Yankee Candle Shop. And we have laughed so many times at at sign on the street reading: Hot Buffet £2.99 Helen always saying: “Their having a laugh”. So l said ok next time we come we are going!. So we did last Saturday and The Angel clean wiped the smug smile of our faces. Admittedly it was a very tired and dingy underground pub but the prices matched the decor old and out of date. But the lady behind the bar dressed as Helen commented like a school dinner lady took our order. Thats £2.99 and kept the 1p which made Helen giggle. The choice of meat being Turkey and Gammon given in generous amounts on a red hot plates plus a sausage and liver and onions. The selection of veg was excellent and the stuffing was lovely so tasty unlike the rubbish most top restaurants turn out. The gravy was piping hot with substance other than water and all in all it was hot and enjoyable. I would certainly go back again as it is in a strange sort of way a step back in time and a fun experience. So don’t be put off by the dated exterior and offer of cheap food. Oh it down two flights of stairs so mobility issues for some.

Stumbled across it today and thought it would be cheap and nasty but I was shocked how good it actually was. What can you get for 2.99 these days but here you get a full carvery which was ample and the staff are cheerful. Well worth a visit

AVOID at all costs! I thought I'd walked into a homeless shelter and the food wasn't fit for consumption! The meat was extremely dry and looked to have been cooked previous! Pound bakery across the road, go there instead, At least it's fresh there!

Very friendly staff, good food at prices which are affordable to all! Ideal for senior citizens after collecting their pension, as it is near to WHSmiths & Post Office. Welcomes people of all ages, children friendly. Carvery from £2.99p, Fish / Chips / Peas / Curry Sauce £2.99p, Pizza from £1.99p, Gammon / Egg / Chips / Peas £2.99p, curry, burgers, desserts from just £1. I had a large carvery for £4.49p, liver was a little tough on one occasion, yorkshire puddings could be a little bigger, but not bad for the money I paid, considering that a pub / cafe / restaurant / tearoom has to make the meal for no more than a third of what they are selling it for, but everything else was great! The carvery food is readily cooked upon arrival, so minimal waiting time, ideal for those with limited time, or those who work split shifts. This pub is nicely decorated, clean, unlimited veg with the carveries which is regularly checked for quality & topped up if needs must. Staff are regularly wiping workbenches. A coffee machine would be ideal for hot drinks rather than boiling a kettle, or a boiling water dispenser, but the hot drinks were brought to my table, & hot drinks are only £1. They are looking at becoming more disabled friendly, as the stairs can get too much for some people (it's a cellar pub), but there may be all sorts of rules & regulations around this, but they are listening and trying to overcome these barriers. If you cannot see what you want, or have any dietary issues, just tell the staff, i'm sure they can very easily cater for you, they do aim to please. Free car parking is available in Lawrence St (near the Jobcentre) & also in Flag Lane down the road (behind The Limelight). Pay & display car parks are available in Delamere St, Crewe Market, Crewe Market Centre & Asda nearby. Situated in Crewe Precinct, there are A boards up which attract customers, advertised in The Chronicle & The Bazaar Magazine, I took my Aunty there for a 2 course meal each for us both & a hot drink each, & I had change out of £15! Ideal for a catch up with friends, & student friendly too! So, if you want a good pub meal at a low price, & a friendly service, this is the place to go! Function room for hire. Check them up on facebook: Ye Olde Angel. 4 COURSE CHRISTMAS DAY DINNER AT THEIR SISTER PUB, ODDIES BAR EDLESTON ROAD, CREWE £19.95p ADULT, £10.95p CHILDREN, PAY IN INSTALLMENTS, FANTASTIC VALUE FOR MONEY!

Tried here as wetherspoons kitchen was closed. It's down a long flight of stairs. Very dated inside. Warmly welcomed by the lady behind the bar. Cash payments only. Only wine they have is Three Mills which is awful cheap wine. Declined and had diet coke. On first sip could tell this isn't the real thing. I said nothing and my daughter commented it didn't taste right either. Carvery meat was very dry, the roast potatoes hard, the Yorkshire puddings are supermarket value range and were inedible at the bottom, mixed veg rather than separate, stuffing was stodgy and the gravy unpleasant. We did enjoy the boiled potatoes. Toilets whilst reasonably clean had no hot water, only one door locked, one of the lights had no bulb, the soap had run out and the hand drier didn't work. We weren't expecting much for £2.99 but this was awful. Apparently school dinners are nicer! Only good thing was the lady behind the bar. Avoid.

Saw the sign for carvery and thought we would give it a go. Absolutely brilliant, can't believe how nice it was for only £2.99! My hubby had the carvery and I had fish and chips. Will definitely be going back.

The angel has reopened as the Ye Old Angel, and does pizza and a carvery. We tried the carvery for an incredible £2.99. You had a choice of 2 meats with a sausage and Yorkshire pudding, and then could help yourself to as much of the following that you wanted. Roast and boiled potatoes, mixed veg, sprouts, cabbage , stuffing, gravy, must sauce apple sauce and mustard. The staff were friendly and helpful, the decor was tired, and the food was good, especially for the price. I'll be back.

With all the ambience of a canteen on a cross channel ferry, with so much noise, this is not a pleasant experience. I put shoes on for dinner, but that made me overdressed. Should have put some old trainers on. I live and learn. Add in that the food is really quite pricey for what it is, and it would definitely not be the place I would ever choose to eat. But I am staying in the hotel, and have an early start tomorrow. The hotel is very nice, and I will review separately, but it deserves a PROPER restaurant given the heritage of the place. Main course only for me, as work wont expense a £12 starter on top of a £6.50 pint without moaning, and I am out of this ludicrously loud and echoing ‘school dinner hall’ feeling place as soon as possible! Wish I had room service and not bothered.

We came for our breakfast and as expected we both enjoyed it. Wetherspoons food is always good which is why we keep using them. We both had different breakfasts but both loved them as usual. It's a pleasure to have it made for you. Well done guys, we will be back I'm sure.

Charles is amazing, such a gent. Gave great advice to us as we had no clue where to start with our planters. Also, helped take our purchases to the car. I can’t give enough praise for this place.

Parked in what we thought was the free pub car park, received a parking fine for £100 one week later. We arrived when it was pitch black and due to COVID restrictions couldn't leave our table once we were seated. Hence, we didn't have a clue we had to pay to park. The staff didn't mention it to us at any point. Strange considering how many terrible reviews they're getting for the exact same reason? Why oh why.
