Advisable to book ahead for the carvery at this place.Anyways,all the food was piping hot,and totally delicious,I would defo recommend this place for a carvery. The staff were totally awesome ,very helpful,all very polite and professional. Plus it has a great atmosphere,inside and outside in the seated area.

Gotta try the Sunday roast, best to book though, gets very busy.

Apparently this is the place to be nowadays, when we visited the live music was more on par with karaoke. And the vibe was a bit dull. But it isn't usually this way. But good service, good drinks good seating.

Excellent views of Rochester Castle from beer garden

Very plain interior to the pub. It's all about the garden and views of the castle and cathedral. I think they're missing a trick not to update the interior.

Had a lovely lunch in the sun with the view of Rochester cathedral & castle. As a vegan, food was limited - nothing but snack bits for vegetarians either. That said, salad & chips were generous portions, well presented.

Fantastic location but Ye Arrow doesn't rest on its laurels, it provide great family food at reasonable prices in a friendly atmosphere.

Have come to have a Sunday roast for the first time to be told they don't serve them during the summer. But its on their menu on the tables!? Staff quite abrupt when we asked, like we should have known....

My daughter held her 21st birthday at the pub, Ryan, Michael , Michael's partner and the team did a brilliant job in making everything go smoothly. The food was fabulous, good quality ingredients and generous amounts. The staff were so helpful and although the pub was very busy, helped me with making sure everything went off well! Thank you all! I will recommend you to everyone!

I made a booking here for lunch a few weeks ago by phone which was confirmed, I was even made aware no carvery would be available. About a week before my booking I was contacted by the manager to check I was aware there was no carvery available. Imagine my surprise when I turn up on Sunday to be told by bar staff that they don’t take bookings??? Luckily it wasn’t busy so we got a table easily enough. We chose our meals and went to the bar to order, only to be told that 2 of the 4 were not available. We quickly made a different choice. The table we were sat at had a reserved sign on it as did the 3 tables next to it (reserved from 6pm). When our food arrived I asked the staff that brought it over why these tables were reserved when they “don’t take bookings”? She said they were reserved for the staff to watch the football after work. The food was quite nice, good portion sizes and good value for money. Please sort your menu out, take the things off that are not available, the menu is only a photocopy so you could easily blank them out. Decide whether or not you take bookings.

Fantastic food, great Sunday lunch, can't falter worth a visit

I haven't eaten here, so I can't rate the food. This venue is joined to another called The Jolly Knight. Ye Arrow is very hit and miss. Some nights at the weekend, it can be buzzing and full of people. Sometimes there is live music, although mine and my friends' usual favourites don't seem to perform there anymore, which is a shame. Other nights it can be absolutely dead quiet and empty.

Great outside dining/ drinking area overlooking the cathedral and castle. Inside appears a little neglected and sparse.

Excellent atmosphere. Lots of friendliness, good food and drink.

Came here whilst visiting Rochester. No welcome,atmosphere, real ale, food. Considering its location overlooking the castle and cathedral very very poor for a Thursday evening. ADVICE DONT BOTHER!

Excellent location. Good food. Friendly service. And dog friendly. Great views of the castle and cathedral from the garden. Unfortunately the council decided to send out the strimmers and leaf blower so it wasn't as peaceful as it might have been but you can't hold that against the pub. Worth a visit.

Warmly greeted on entering pub, found a table and wasn’t long before we were given a menu & our orders taken. Did not take long before our food arrived, we all enjoyed our meals and there was certain lot a lot!! When next in Rochester we would eat here again and recommend to others .

Traditional pub, with a sense of history. Great views of the castle in the outdoor seating area. Nice place to be in the summer.

A little bit of a soulless experience , but drinks are reasonable.

My prawn cocktail starter was very fresh, and the prawns were nicely fresh and firm. The beef chilli main course was also great! We received good service from friendly staff. I shall definitely be returning.

Went to Rochester today and fancied a roast for lunch while we were there, Google suggested this place ....we hadn't booked but they very kindly let us have a table. The food was lovely & plenty of it and the staff were all very friendly - would def recommend a visit but would book 1st. My only 1 negative comment would be there wasn't any vegetarian gravy - my friend doesn't eat red meat so just had the turkey which was fine but when he asked if the gravy was made with beef stock we were told yes but not offered a veggie alternative which was a bit surprising as they offer a nut roast alternative to the meats on the carvery so does that mean a vegetarian has to eat a dry dinner ? But like I said that was the only negative, everything else was great

Great place for a weekend. It may get packed but the service is always really quick! Cannot fault it.

Lunch during a day trip with family. Couldn't fault the service and the food was also exactly as described, good and good value. Fairly busy outside but parts of this could be spruced up and it would be good if people could sit outside to eat on a hot day, (the reason we chose this place) without cigarette smoke arriving right behind. The inside furnishings looked really nice. Gave 5 stars overall as on a typical day, we'd have sat inside anyway.

Went in to the pub for a drink, had to wait a while to be served despite there being several people behind the bar. Nice atmosphere and nice outside area, plenty of seating and looks out on to the castle. Only negative was a member of staff who spoke to us rudely about us eating an ice cream whilst we were being served. Proper jobs worth and needs to work on her manner when talking to customers.

Could be a great venue when you consider the foot traffic. On our visit staff were obviously annoyed as a "chef" was a no show and respective service showed it. Witnessed a more vocal member of staff delivering food with hair literally in the food. Never again !!

Rather cheap, nice location with terrace but the food is not that great, with some supermarket products and fatty food. We waited for 45 minutes (but the staff had warned us about that).

Had to wait 90+ minutes for our food and people in larger and smaller groups were being served before us. Once the food arrived it was okay , not worth the wait. Once we sat down the chairs were positioned to close together so I got smacked by a chair when ever they stood up. Would not reccomend.

This is a great pub to meet friends and family for food and drinks. There is a beer garden and dogs are allowed as long as you're outside. The atmosphere is welcoming with friendly, helpful staff.

The Sunday carvery is always excellent and good value.

Right by Rochester Cathedral & castle, very close to the high street. We popped in for a light lunch & drink. Inside is not a quaint historic pub, as you may think. more a large functional area for food & drink. That said the light lunch we had, BLT in white bagget & bacon potato skins, were excellent, both came with a decent fresh salad on the plate. Prices were very reasonable & the staff, although busy were friendly & efficient. Would return for the menu & staff, but not for the decor or atmosphere.

Lots of very small flies around my table which was very off putting .(this was onside) we were not sitting by the open door. Prawn cocktail horrible & just tasted of water. Rest of the meal was ok nothing special. Staff were nice.

Large spacious pub serving great choice and quality food at reasonable prices. Friendly staff. Nice coffee. Next door to the cathedral and close to the railway station.

We like coming here on a weekend night. Generally good live music and a great atmosphere. Decent-sized dance floor. Don't often see trouble, but when it occurs it is dealt with quickly, without spoiling the night for everyone else. Some good offers on drinks too. One downside is the fact they share toilets with the Jolly Knight, which means there's always a big queue, as there are only 2 cubicles to serve these 2 venues, which is pretty poor.

Had chicken leek pie it's was like eating rubber very dry chicken was bad never again wouldn't give it to my dog

Cleanest high chair in a public place I have ever seen. Lovely staff. Lovely people. Would be 5 if they had even 1 local ale but that is just me being picky

big pub in Rochester near the Cathedral. Visited here several times, decent food and a place for a pint whilst wandering. Accidentally wandered in this time whilst they were running a carvery. I don’t like carvery so thankfully the regular menu was also on. Burger it was! Staff were friendly and food was served quickly.

We've been a few times and this time we were a little later than usual, the food was good but it was obvious it was the end of the day. So we have decided to book sooner and get in earlier. Staff are delightful as always and smiley which is a massive bonus.

Lovely pub with a sun trap of a beer garden looking at Rochester Castle & Cathedral. There is kibe music and is linked by corridor to another pub on the High Street that does Karaoke. Amazing for a quiet drink in the garden or for a night out and enjoyment. Live sports are shown here.
