I chose this quiet pub on a Tuesday afternoon with rain outside. I wanted a cosy place where I could have a drink and use my computer. The website stated that free WiFi was available and that was primary reason I chose this place over any other. I learned that WiFi isn’t available to ‘customers’ because it interferes with their register.. I feel duped by the website offering something that clearly isn’t true. Be honest and give punters the option to choose other places. Pubs are not lined up in this area. It means driving elsewhere.

I can’t say much about the food as I was invited here for a wake. I think it was really nice that they take bookings and do family events in there. The staff are really nice and it’s a nice little environment to be in.

Unfriendly Pub, recently moved to the area and was asked if I’m an undercover police officer. I felt so comfortable I had to leave.

So lucky to have this pub virtually on our doorstep. Really welcoming and always a great atmosphere . Lots of live music, sports on several screens and great out door seating area too.

Me and my wife popped in for a drink whilst visiting Hoo. I used to live here when I was younger. I used to drink in the Chequers 40 years ago and I'm glad to see it's still a good pub. I had a nice pint and the bar lady was very pleasant and made us feel welcome. There was a nice feel about the place. Definitely worth a visit again.

Clean and friendly pub , it's has a lovely fire in the main bar . It has any amazing outside area with a place to smoke with heaters , the people are so very friendly and happy to see u it is a village pub with everyone welcome weather your just going to have a coffee or beer after work . They do have a full working kitchen but no chef at the moment but they will make tosted sandwiches, chips, onoin rings so you don't have to go hungry and as a woman I'm happy to go there by myself and read I've never felt unsafe and I know the owner would always make add sure u got to the car park or call u a Uber they would never leave u outside by yourself they really are good people . Well done you really have cleaned the place up I wish you all the best for the new year . So if u ever want to sit by a open fire and a nice drink pop in the cheques your always be welcomes x

Visited this pub as a darts venue, nice warming and relaxing atmosphere. They had a shot deal on my visit with3 x shots for a fiver, otherwise its £5 for fosters here. I like the venue, there is parking available on site and some off road parking. Dart food was good. Bar staff were great.

Find this pub very friendly and the staff are always willing to help and very friendly. Been a coupke of times now and my experiences have never change. Would recommend it to anyone no matter your age x

3-9-22. Went there to see one of the live bands playing, ( Sold on Soul.), What a fab night it was. Friendly locals, Good bar staff, Nice landlord, The place to be. I would highly recommend this place, For a good night out,, And it would be on my to do list, to go back there. Definitely.

Like to apologise. I was in this pub in 1981 and chucked up everywhere. I was only 16 and working on a coal ship supplying the power station, had a great night. Never forgot it lol!

So lucky to have The Chequers as our local. Me & my other half have had some of the best times in there, meeting old friends and making new- Fantastic live music nights, great atmosphere, & laughter. Kerry, Sue & their staff are really welcoming & really make you feel special.

Great beer and friendly staff, roaring log fire adds to the atmosphere

A decent enough village pub. Very busy on the weekends, not so busy in the week. I've not had the food so can't comment on that. The beer is cold, fire warm and it is a typical selection of shepherd neames beers that always give me headaches, no matter how few I have.

Visited the Chequers yesterday 16 th March Was with a client who has learning disabilities .Autism. Was made to feel very welcome by a lovely friendly bar lady. Great atmosphere. Lovely pub. Looking forward to returning to also enjoy garden in sun. Thank you for your welcome

Really enjoyed the afternoon at the pub. Good food, great music and the staff are amazing. The pub is what I would call modern but with traditional family values and service. Will definitely return. Thank you to everyone who made the day special

It’s a nice clean pub however the price of drinks is very expensive and different every time we have been there. I know it’s tough times but getting 40p change from £10 for a coke and a beer is way too much. It’s a pub for locals.

Really decent traditional boozer. Quality shepherd neame beer with other options. During these covid times they keep the outdoors nice and warm with safe outdoor fire burners. Great spot

Bit hard to know how to rate this pub but as tripadvisor marks 3/5 as average I felt had to give it 2/5. It was below average but not awful. Friendly welcome was probably the best bit. The beer was fine for what it was although nothing particularly interesting was on offer. Bar food was pretty basic to put it mildly but it was incredibly inexpensive so for the price it was just about OK. Hotdog on menu stated with onions and mustard but it had neither, just a hotdog in a slice of baguette. Would I go there again? On balance probably not.

We visited here last week and I was thoroughly impressed with their one way system and how they are running their pub during this dichotomy time. Many sanitisers located throughout the pub. Brilliant choice of Gins and vodka and extremely friendly staff. Would defiantly recommend a visit.

Rather rough looking pub with only one local in it of a Wednesday night. The juke box is rather obscure in the songs it has.

We had a wonderful Christening party here for our little boy. A great selection of food was catered for us and I had a big crowd of people attend. All of the staff were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Having use of the garden and bouncy castles as an added bonus made the day that more special for us all. Thankyou very much for the care and hospitality you gave to us all

A charming quant traditional pub. With welcoming bar maid. The locals spoke well of the large breakfast they serve. The genre of music from the juke box gave pleasing background music. Our attraction to the pub was the occasional bouncy castle placed in the well presented garden. The newly covered pool table is always welcomed. Don't get to stuck in if you have ordered the food, which unlike some typical pub food was enjoyably and tasty. Chequers (The) made for a very delightful watering hollow.

Great place for a pint friendly

We stopped here for a pint as it was on our hiking route. Did its job but that was all, really, wouldn't be on my wish list of pubs to visit.

Shocked with the uninviting atmosphere and aggressive glares from the staff and customers. Would not recommend as it is clearly a pub just for locals. You will be made to feel unwelcome and uncomfortable. Not worth getting a drink, let alone a meal.

Nice pint of Bear Island IPA and a game of pool (50p a game)

Nice pub, only stopped in for lunchtime drink with work colleague, but everything was fine, clean and friendly. Toilets could be updated and improved.

Just another public house with rear garden and a small carpark

Dropped in here on a cold day and found a lit fire and some well kept beer. Comfortable seating, friendly staff apart perhaps from the landlady who had to bark orders at the one member of staff who then started breaking beer glasses into a bin. decided against a second drink in the hopes of something quieter elsewhere.

Nice pub,made welcome from day 1

We stepped in through the threshold and experienced fun and laughter, dogs (little) and kids(all happy and under control) lol.x music was great, landlord's son-in-law was handing out free home made sausage rolls! Gorgeous ! Can't wait to visit again.☺

This is a friendly pub where you are made to feel welcome. Not only do they sell good food but they also positively encourage families.In the summer there is a bouncy castle or paddling pool and just today I’ve been to a kids Halloween fun day, where all the staff dressed up to welcome them and carve pumpkins. My kids love it when I take them here, and I love to be able to have a drink in peace!

Good beer and great Jukebox, they also have a card machine if you run out of cash.

We was recommend to this pub for nice food , the Sunday lunch was nice, but I wouldn't go again as this was not the type of pub for a couples Sunday lunch with the conversation going on in the bar area :-(I felt pretty awkward being the only women in the pub ...Thank you for nice lunch

est Pie & Mash ever!!! Lovely little pub, had my first visit here today with my Wife, Son & Parents. Will be going back at the earliest opportunity possible. I'd get there early for the Pie & Mash though as they go fast!

I had Sunday lunch here with my wife last week - it was amazing. Roast beef, fresh homemade gravy and the most amazingly crispy potatoes! Will deffo go again - can't wait for the Xmas menu.

Went for Sunday lunch with my husband and mother In law. Really lovely roast. Crispy roast potatoes. Tender meat and a lovely veg selection. Had drinks, dessert and coffee. Could not believe the price - fantastic value!!!! Staff were lovely - will be returning soon!!'

Came across this place whilst visiting a friend who has a mooring in the Hoo Marina. A good selection of beers served in a cheerful manner. We decided to eat and my Lasagna was really first rate, the jug of gravy supplied with my Wife's meal was a joy to taste. Menu gives a good selection with reasonable prices. We will return.

Called into the Chequers in the week and I was very impressed to see a great selection of real ales on the hand pump. My pint was served promptly by the landlord and I had confidence in the ale before I ordered it due to the amount of people in there drinking it. Service was super friendly and the regulars were very welcoming. What started as a quick pit stop turned into a lovely afternoon in the Chequers beer garden. I later found out that they have started a BBQ on a sunday weather permitting.. 5* for this pub and I will definitely be returning.

Highly recommend, Ordered lasagne very tasty and good value for money.

Called into the Chequers as it is under new management and I'd heard they now do food. I had ham egg and chips, my friend had the lasagne. Both arrived in good time, and the portions were very generous. The ham was thick cut and delicious - more like gammon than ham - and my eggs were absolutely perfect. My friend assured me that the Lasagne was excellent too.
