Yates High Wycombe in Wycombe

After a long day sightseeing the streets of London and lugging my suitcase onto the train to High Wycombe, I managed to get to my hotel room I n time to watch the live Friday night football on Sky on my laptop. Then the app failed so I dragged my sorry body across the road to Yates. Entering the pub, I stood inside the door scanning the empty pub for a tv. Rugby on one, lots of slots but the game (LeedsUnited) was on in a corner. I then pulled out my wallet and fidgeted with my cards to find my personal one, all good and they served Heineken, all good…. I walked up and asked for a pint. The manager waded across the barman, “I’m sorry sir, I think you’ve had enough to drink tonight “. Eh? “I’m stone cold sober, I’m fit to drive a car”. He said he had been observing me and that I was intoxicated. I genuinely thought he was joking but no, he bragged in front of the staff that he was the licensee and had made an irreversible decision. I asked if I could just watch the game, he refused and called his bouncer. Btw I am a 63 year old accountant unlikely to cause a fight in an empty pub. This clever manager exercising his business acumen was clearing a near empty pub at 8pm on a Friday. My parting words were “no wonder your pub is empty on a Friday night when an idiot is in charge”. I didn’t get his name but I’m sure it’s Dick…

Had a wonderful time watching the football ⚽️ on Sunday. Maya and James looked after me impeccably and had a great time and the result helped too. Thankyou everyone

I ordered a pornstar martini on the app. When it came the lady told me the deal of 2 for 1, however this was not mentioned online. So I bought the second one expecting to get a third one for free. When asking for the third one, I was told I couldn’t get it because I had only ordered 1, despite already paying for 2. Ultimately, the man at the till was very rude stating that he couldn’t give me the third drink because it didn’t align with his system - even though I showed the receipts of the already purchased two martinis. Although drinks and food are good, as a customer, I feel exploited and treated unfairly by the staff.

Great place for a tasty reasonably priced lunch, a great variety of drinks, a lovely atmosphere, and friendly staff,the sports viewing is the best in the local area....a must visit when in high wycombe

Incredible experience here at Yates! i was so well taken care of each visit, staff is so so friendly, like an instant family here. Dance floor, smoke machine, Sports tv all over and awesome food! Even a Cricket game explainer, at least the host of the sport,haha. I felt at home every time I walked in. Most accommodating and fun experience each visit. Highly recommended and much appreciated- from a Texan who loves this place:) and will be back for sure, ya’ll come and see for yourself- no disappointments here!

Maya, Shamack and Stu were amazing and left us feeling very happy about the night. Joined the quiz night and was very entertained. Happy to have been served by all 3 !!!

Went for bottomless brunch. Staff are extremely friendly and always ready to refill your drinks. Thank you to Sham and Maya for looking after us! We will be back :)

Came in for the NLD with a group of friends. Great atmosphere, fans of both teams mixing well together, plenty of laughs and jokes and gentle rubbing of each other. Beer was perfect and the food was great too, really recommend the small plates deal especially between a group of you. Just a shame about the result Brilliant service from Shamack and the team. Keep up the good work and I’ll be back soon

Very large pub with sport being shown on several TVs. Very few people there when we were which affected the atmosphere, but the beer was good

Popped in for a breakfast and a quick drink on my commute to work, the food was really nice and the prices cheap in comparison to my local. Staff were very attentive and quick service provided, had a great nice chat with Danielle and Stu! Definitely would recommend and will be coming back during the sports season

Went during the euros. Was great to see such a patriotic atmosphere and to see the staff keep their cool under a stressful experience.

Good value for money. Always meet friends here for a few drinks. Danielle behind the bar has a very good personality and is always polite, welcoming and always has a smile on her face.

Good range of Beer and lager options, at a very good price too! James was super friendly and very kindly helped me redeem a drink on my Smartphone. Will be back in the future!

Best place in Wycombe for a football vibe. Great food great prices. Super friendly staff and management. Place is clean and fresh having the mixer app really gets the party started.

Went for the England game vs Denmark was a great atmosphere and was served quickly! Great pint and had a class burger too!

Came in for the first England game last night as I am staying in Wycombe on business and what a fantastic experience. Atmosphere was brilliant with everyone enjoying themselves before and after the big game. It was nice to see my old friend Stu at his new pub and how wonderfully decorated it is with all the flags on the ceiling and in the windows. Really busy but the service was good and the prices were really good too. Can’t complain about getting a pint for under a fiver these days. Good luck for the rest of the tournament and I’ll see you again next time I’m in town for business.

Watched Southampton beat Leeds whilst supping Fullers ESB. Seems to be the best sportsbar in High Wycombe.

Amazing food visited a few times now everytime has been amazing. Karaoke and the events even the bar staff are having a great time 10/10 great pub can not wait to come back agian

The new service is poor, the general manager Stuart was so rude to us when we had booked a table and arrived 5 min into booking. Whoever has taken over is running a terrible service 🙄 no drinks, no food. I'll find a better place to watch football!!!

My order was a little late, but it was unreal. The burger was super tasty, chips crispy, onion rings crunchy, so good!

Yates offer very good value & very quick food service. Plus it is accessible for me in my mobility scooter. The front door can be opened wide & there is a disabled toilet on the ground floor. A mistake over ale or larger, but the ale was chilled which is frustrating! The breakfast came very quickly, so it must be recooked and microwaved. Yates offers good value & we have had the sausages & mash previously. We will go again for ‘warmer’ ale & lunch again. Lots of space & seemingly very popular.

Best food had it in ages. Defo will be going again. The staff was really nice.

Very quiet not showing any of the rugby other than England game ( no wonder it was quiet ) Went to order 241 pitchers to be told have to have the same ones Never been to a Yates where we have been told we have to have the same pitchers for the deal to work !

gonna have to stop ordering from here unfortunately, food used to be really good, burgers are over cooked, same goes for the bacon, buns are chewy and the "spicy" fries have next to no seasoning on them, sorry guys you've really let me down lately.

i used to love this place, i always order the same blue cheese burger but lately the quality has gone down hill of the food here, and 9 times out of 10 the food arrives stone cold.

The staff are kind and very attentive. I also really liked the food; we got the small sharing plates for the whole table which were good value for money and delicious! I was very happy with my experience. The food and drinks were very fairly priced. In addition, the pub is very clean and pristine and the toilets are very well cleaned and looked after. I also really enjoyed the music playing; they have a great playlist of songs that they don't play at other similar establishments. It's not all just generic chart music which I appreciated as a music nerd! I will definitely be returning.

I had a great experience here! The staff were very lovely and the service was quick and efficient! I came in for a drink and it was a lot better than the local wetherspoons in my opinion because it's not as rowdy; in wetherspoons everyone is always shouting and it is not a nice atmosphere. The atmosphere here was a lot better. I will be coming back.

We didn't have food just a beer or two and a few games of pool.

Ordered the meal for two, undercooked soft/soggy fries, hidden under too much sauce/cheese,the burger was overcooked, what salad there was was limp, again too much sauce more outside the bun than in it, overall poor

Just delicious burgers, far superior to the normal high street tat.

Food is below average, prices are ok but portions are small and low quality ingredients. The fish finger roll was 1 fish finger and the roll was so chewy as it had been microwaved. Everywhere on the tables it advertised to use the QR code to order so we did that even though there was no'one waiting at the bar but it was easier with children to remain at the table. However, we ordered 2 adult meals with drinks yet the kids menu wasn't working on the app so we went to the bar for those. The adult mains arrived but still no sign of drinks for half an hour so went to the bar to ask for drinks and they said they're not doing the drinks due to lack of staff. Well then don't offer online ordering or at least tell the food runner to let us know we have to go and ask the bar staff of which there were 2 of to make our drinks. It's very disorganised and not a pleasant visit. The only thing this place is good for is watching sport on TV.

Service was good, bit disappointed by the ‘beef’ quality though. Very processed patty sadly detracted from the meal, but I guess for a £14 meal I shouldn’t have expected much more.

My first visit to Yates Wycombe was to watch the rugby final. You have sufficient room and screens around, that's a 5star. Your food was tasty and freshly made, I will give you a 5star, however, felt quiet dismissed by staff members. I am giving the service a 2star for last night's experience, only because, although SA rugby boys won the world cup, I honestly didn't think it was necessary for the TV channels to be changed as soon as the final whistle was blown. You would have certainly not done that if the tables were turned and New Zealand won. I kindly respect that the TV's were to show the boxing match following the rugby game, but that started atleast 30min after the rugby match ended. You could have given us that moment to bask in the excitement. There were different groups of people who supported different teams and it was a delight seeing NZ supporters acknowledging and giving high-fives to the SA supporters in the spirit of the game. But YATES you robbed us from witnessing our Boys lifting the cup and celebrating with them, just for mere football highlights, not even a match. Sportsmanship is about comraderie and respect! Extremely Disappointed‼️

Incredible atmosphere to watch the rugby World Cup final as well as a great variety of options to watch other sports, catering for all tastes, paired with impeccable food, a go to spot for all sport events.

Come in to watch the rugby final with a couple of mates south africa vs new Zealand. The sportsmanship around the pub was exciting and tense while the game was going on at times cheering with happiness. The staff on that night I could not fault. We also discided to stay to watch the fight. The staff were very kind and let us first enjoy the rugby and watch the cup being lifted by South africa. Once that had finished the bar team changed to the fight it was nice to see everyone enjoying themselves. Bar staff were amazing. Can't fault them. 10/10

We went to watch the rugby it has an exciting atmosphere and was very busy. The staff were friendly and the turn around was smooth and just flowed just in time for the boxing match to start with very little if any disruption to the customers and atmosphere.

Love going here for a full English breaky. Great tasting and an absolute bargain. The current chef there is amazing. She makes lovely food and has been a delight every time ive gone in. She gives the place that personal touch that keeps you going back.

Nice big building. Food is great. Chef came out to ask if we had a nice meal and it was lovely. The manager was very kind and helpful helpful. The pub was very clean. The service was very speedy. The atmosphere was very good for the time of day. Prices very cheap. Very nice music. People in the pub very happy and friendly. Bar was beautiful on the back and very clean my husband also left a review.

when my steak arrived I could immediately see that something was not right. This was a thick cut of meat that looked dry and over cooked. I complained to the staff she said she was pregnant ! But this no excuse i paid 50 pounds for 2 steak meals ! She was very rude and dismissive she tried to convince me and told me" but this is very well done u asked for this ! " Yes i did but still "well"cooked steak shud still be ateable. It looked like it was dumbed on the plate for that price u expect it to be a little bit seasoned. I felt like the waitress and the person who cooked the steak were ganging up on me and being very rude ! And argumentive not even an aplogy i felt rather intimidated. Is this how the staff treat their paying customers ? There was also dirty plates around us broken glass which i very nearly slipped on. Spoke to the "arrogent manager neil " about my complaint and explained his staff were rude and their digusting service and he said he was happy not take this further and that i was only looking for a refund and that your "friend" said everything was ok but i was sick after being to this place so not everything is ok ! I wont be letting this go ! I mean question the the manager if you paid for steak and couldnt eat it for reasons said above wouldnt u want a refund ???

It does not surprise me why this pub is empty almost every time...Let me explain: Champions league night, they have more than 10 tv screens. They were playing the Man City vs Crvena Zvezda. I requested politely if they could set the Barça match in one screen (seriously, was no one in the pub, just a group of 6 guys sit in front of 1 screen, so it wouldn't bother any one). The answer of the supervisor (a slim guy): "we play the ManC only" (He had the match in a kind of list on the wall)... OK I said, maybe it was the manager order I thought... Well, 15 minutes later they changed the chanel to the PSG-Dormund... unbelievable. As soon I finished the beer I left the Pub and I won't came back.
