Come to High Wycombe for business trip and this place was a one minute walk away great place for a nice beer ended up staying for dinner food is absolutely brilliant and the guy that hosted me (shamack) was really helpful with recommendations

I beg any one who reads this review takes my advice and please get the bbq burger and add the brisket and bacon. If your a fan of spice, get the angry fries (dont underestimate them, they ARE angry). Get the aioli fries if your not into the ‘angriness’, theyre the same thing with no spice. The staff? Amazing, freindly and so helpfull especially shamack. I couldnt have asked for a better person to serve me

This outlet of Yates which was refurbished some years ago has a bright and warm atmosphere, numerous TVs I used to show televised Sport during the day and in the evenings, a reasonable selection of food is available at prices which are not over the top and the bar staff are friendly and helpful

The quality of the food and speed of service is impressive. Staff always chatty and friendly.

Nick was an amazing guy, love chatting with him. The manager was to nice. Had to order multiple times to try and keep talking with Nick. Amazing dude honestly, 100% recommend. (Mondays and Fridays are the days I’ve stumbled upon him)

Have popped in a few times and it's OK. Good for watching a lot of sport due its many TVs and it also has a few pool tables.

We visit today and we had food it was lovely and staff were very friendly the new manager is very friendly and welcoming.

Was in the other day and found out they have anew manager called Tom. He was very welcoming and knew his stuff, would definitely recommend!

Me and the work lads went for a meal after a long days graft the menu is just your obvious pub grub thought it’d do as we didn’t want to walk far from the digs and my god it was awful. My mixed grill was like chewing through cremated rubber and my mates fish platter looked like ass. Sack the chef. Sort yourselves out. All the best 👍

Good veggie burger, good beer, and cheap for what I've seen.

Ordered a curry.Took forever.On arrival told no mango chutney as I paid for. No discount, no compensation.Nan bread the size of a small fried egg. At least the toilets had 19th century plumbing, so it wasn't the usual life threatening experience you expect in Europe

Rude staff that seem to get a kick out of upsetting customers visited 16/1/24 I visited yesterday a small group of 4 at first all ages 19-20 no problem with getting id’d as I’m a server and I know. The attitude from the get go was already a no from me. One member of the group ordered his drink - tried to- whilst the rest of us tried to find a table but he wasn’t served until we all showed id fair enough again but attitude was appalling. When we went to the bar to show our id’s one of our friends had forgotten his because he just came from work okay - fine he just won’t drink we were there to watch the football anyway- no he has to get his ID and we’re not allowed to be served till he does. So he at this point LEAVES the building and we still can’t be served because of “policy”. Because he “might be waiting outside and you’ll give him the drink while I’m serving a customer” which is ridiculous I’m not sure if the bar tender worked in retail and was confused or something even if this is a policy instead of being nice about he was rude and acted like we were a massive inconvenience. I wonder if a father and son would be treated the same way? Would a grown man be served a pint if he was with his child, surely he would just give the child the drink We sat there for 40 minutes without a drink waiting till our friend returned with his id he sat down to go get us to see if we were ready to order. Then the man at the bar shouted across the pub and pointed “YOU ID”. Once we were finally allowed to get a drink probably like 50 minutes after we walked in the door despite our friend LEAVING THE PREMISES we were treated with a very snarky attitude. Bar guy thinks everyone’s out to get him or something. There’s a reason why we were the only young people in their last night. Terrible experience

The customer service and the treatment of the waiters is impeccable. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is welcoming. I would definitely recommend coming here!

Good atmosphere for watching football

When yesterday to have a few drinks with 2 friends and my husband ...he only had 2 beers each with his friend me and my girlfriend had 4 jegerbombs each in around 1 hour that we spend there sitting nicely outside not disturbing anyone we weren't even tipsy....going in to buy 2 more and some rude bartender with blond hair and beard says its the last he serves us i replied OK and left but definitely never spending my money there again...such a mood breaking uneducated people...I have a license in selling alcohol and we definitely weren't breaking any rules ....no wonder its mostly always empty...I go out once a month but places like this make me stay home and not waste my time

After a long day sightseeing the streets of London and lugging my suitcase onto the train to High Wycombe, I managed to get to my hotel room I n time to watch the live Friday night football on Sky on my laptop. Then the app failed so I dragged my sorry body across the road to Yates. Entering the pub, I stood inside the door scanning the empty pub for a tv. Rugby on one, lots of slots but the game (LeedsUnited) was on in a corner. I then pulled out my wallet and fidgeted with my cards to find my personal one, all good and they served Heineken, all good…. I walked up and asked for a pint. The manager waded across the barman, “I’m sorry sir, I think you’ve had enough to drink tonight “. Eh? “I’m stone cold sober, I’m fit to drive a car”. He said he had been observing me and that I was intoxicated. I genuinely thought he was joking but no, he bragged in front of the staff that he was the licensee and had made an irreversible decision. I asked if I could just watch the game, he refused and called his bouncer. Btw I am a 63 year old accountant unlikely to cause a fight in an empty pub. This clever manager exercising his business acumen was clearing a near empty pub at 8pm on a Friday. My parting words were “no wonder your pub is empty on a Friday night when an idiot is in charge”. I didn’t get his name but I’m sure it’s Dick…

Had a wonderful time watching the football ⚽️ on Sunday. Maya and James looked after me impeccably and had a great time and the result helped too. Thankyou everyone

I ordered a pornstar martini on the app. When it came the lady told me the deal of 2 for 1, however this was not mentioned online. So I bought the second one expecting to get a third one for free. When asking for the third one, I was told I couldn’t get it because I had only ordered 1, despite already paying for 2. Ultimately, the man at the till was very rude stating that he couldn’t give me the third drink because it didn’t align with his system - even though I showed the receipts of the already purchased two martinis. Although drinks and food are good, as a customer, I feel exploited and treated unfairly by the staff.

Great place for a tasty reasonably priced lunch, a great variety of drinks, a lovely atmosphere, and friendly staff,the sports viewing is the best in the local area....a must visit when in high wycombe

Incredible experience here at Yates! i was so well taken care of each visit, staff is so so friendly, like an instant family here. Dance floor, smoke machine, Sports tv all over and awesome food! Even a Cricket game explainer, at least the host of the sport,haha. I felt at home every time I walked in. Most accommodating and fun experience each visit. Highly recommended and much appreciated- from a Texan who loves this place:) and will be back for sure, ya’ll come and see for yourself- no disappointments here!

Maya, Shamack and Stu were amazing and left us feeling very happy about the night. Joined the quiz night and was very entertained. Happy to have been served by all 3 !!!

Came in for the NLD with a group of friends. Great atmosphere, fans of both teams mixing well together, plenty of laughs and jokes and gentle rubbing of each other. Beer was perfect and the food was great too, really recommend the small plates deal especially between a group of you. Just a shame about the result Brilliant service from Shamack and the team. Very large pub with sport being shown on several TVs. Very few people there when we were which affected the atmosphere, but the beer was good

Popped in for a breakfast and a quick drink on my commute to work, the food was really nice and the prices cheap in comparison to my local. Staff were very attentive and quick service provided, had a great nice chat with Danielle and Stu! Definitely would recommend and will be coming back during the sports season

Came in for the first England game last night as I am staying in Wycombe on business and what a fantastic experience. Atmosphere was brilliant with everyone enjoying themselves before and after the big game. It was nice to see my old friend Stu at his new pub and how wonderfully decorated it is with all the flags on the ceiling and in the windows. Really busy but the service was good and the prices were really good too. Can’t complain about getting a pint for under a fiver these days. Good luck for the rest of the tournament and I’ll see you again next time I’m in town for business.

Watched Southampton beat Leeds whilst supping Fullers ESB. Seems to be the best sportsbar in High Wycombe.

The new service is poor, the general manager Stuart was so rude to us when we had booked a table and arrived 5 min into booking. Whoever has taken over is running a terrible service 🙄 no drinks, no food. I'll find a better place to watch football!!!

My order was a little late, but it was unreal. The burger was super tasty, chips crispy, onion rings crunchy, so good!

Yates offer very good value & very quick food service. Plus it is accessible for me in my mobility scooter. The front door can be opened wide & there is a disabled toilet on the ground floor. A mistake over ale or larger, but the ale was chilled which is frustrating! The breakfast came very quickly, so it must be recooked and microwaved. Yates offers good value & we have had the sausages & mash previously. We will go again for ‘warmer’ ale & lunch again. Lots of space & seemingly very popular.

Very quiet not showing any of the rugby other than England game ( no wonder it was quiet ) Went to order 241 pitchers to be told have to have the same ones Never been to a Yates where we have been told we have to have the same pitchers for the deal to work !

gonna have to stop ordering from here unfortunately, food used to be really good, burgers are over cooked, same goes for the bacon, buns are chewy and the "spicy" fries have next to no seasoning on them, sorry guys you've really let me down lately.

Very nice warm and friendly bar

i used to love this place, i always order the same blue cheese burger but lately the quality has gone down hill of the food here, and 9 times out of 10 the food arrives stone cold.

The staff are kind and very attentive. I also really liked the food; we got the small sharing plates for the whole table which were good value for money and delicious! I was very happy with my experience. The food and drinks were very fairly priced. In addition, the pub is very clean and pristine and the toilets are very well cleaned and looked after. I also really enjoyed the music playing; they have a great playlist of songs that they don't play at other similar establishments. It's not all just generic chart music which I appreciated as a music nerd! I will definitely be returning.

I had a great experience here! The staff were very lovely and the service was quick and efficient! I came in for a drink and it was a lot better than the local wetherspoons in my opinion because it's not as rowdy; in wetherspoons everyone is always shouting and it is not a nice atmosphere. The atmosphere here was a lot better. I will be coming back.

Ordered the meal for two, undercooked soft/soggy fries, hidden under too much sauce/cheese,the burger was overcooked, what salad there was was limp, again too much sauce more outside the bun than in it, overall poor

Just delicious burgers, far superior to the normal high street tat.

Food is below average, prices are ok but portions are small and low quality ingredients. The fish finger roll was 1 fish finger and the roll was so chewy as it had been microwaved. Everywhere on the tables it advertised to use the QR code to order so we did that even though there was no'one waiting at the bar but it was easier with children to remain at the table. However, we ordered 2 adult meals with drinks yet the kids menu wasn't working on the app so we went to the bar for those. The adult mains arrived but still no sign of drinks for half an hour so went to the bar to ask for drinks and they said they're not doing the drinks due to lack of staff. Well then don't offer online ordering or at least tell the food runner to let us know we have to go and ask the bar staff of which there were 2 of to make our drinks. It's very disorganised and not a pleasant visit. The only thing this place is good for is watching sport on TV.

Incredible atmosphere to watch the rugby World Cup final as well as a great variety of options to watch other sports, catering for all tastes, paired with impeccable food, a go to spot for all sport events.
