Called in for drinks on Saturday afternoon, all new rules adhered to and customer safety paramount. Poor Sarah worked so hard on her own taking orders, preparing and serving drinks, she was brilliant. Excellent choice of drinks as usual.

Good selection of beer, cocktails and wine. Cosy log fire and relaxing atmosphere, nice for couples to chill and have a cold peroni. Candle lit which is a nice touch.

Visited here for drinks one Sunday lunch for a fiends birthday. very pleasant little place, staff friend, good display of gins.

Great wee quirky bar, we visited on a Friday afternoon and had some amazing cocktails. Lovely friendly girl behind the bar.

We dropped in here on a pub crawl across Rammy and me and my 2 friends were lucky to be ID'd. We're in our early/mid-twenties but we don't have a problem being asked for ID. We passed over our licenses and my mate was texting his girlfriend. A barman ordered him to approach the bar and, for some reason, took a disliking to him. None of us were served because of our 'attitudes.' We'd had no problems that night and couldn't understand what we'd done wrong. I don't know if we were too young to fit the older clientele they're obviously aiming for, but we thankfully left straight away, without spending anything, to continue our night elsewhere.

Can’t really fault the drinks at this place but the blonde barmaid who works there has to be one of the rudest people I have ever come across. On one occasion she stormed outside and shouted ‘RIGHT EVERYONE GET INSIDE NOW’. On a more recent visit I had gone outside to get in my booked taxi and she came outside and abruptly shouted “er isn’t that my taxi” before muttering something under her breath and storming inside. Not the welcoming presence you’d at expect at a small cosy bar!

Went for a couple of drinks and stayed all night. Very generous free nibbles were dished out to everyone (apparently every Sunday) and it was delicious.

Popped in for a glass of Shiraz before going for a meal across the road. Nice bar with plenty of bar stools, friendly staff and nice little outside area at the back

Was attending a private function here this week. No welcome when we walked in but hey ho. Good young people behind the bar. Nice small seating area outside but too chilly to venture out on this occasion. Have been here several times and always a good experience usually.

I was in for a drink with a friend, and there was a table of younger people sat opposite us. One of the girls was singing (quite loudly, granted) but she wasn't being aggressive, or swearing, she was simply singing along to the music being played in there. The owner, as she called herself, shouted across the bar 'you, shut up' to this girl who looked very shocked at this, I assume not knowing who the woman was, so she carried on singing. The woman got up and stormed over, and shouted at the young girl. I could hear what the woman was saying but not the girl as the girl was speaking at a normal volume. The woman shouted 'I own this place I can have you kicked out in a second'. I would have understood had the woman gone over and politely asked her to be a bit less loud, but she didn't. The owner was clearly drinking herself as she was sat with some other people with a glass of wine, but the aggression was very unnecessary. I will not be returning as long as that is how a bar owner treats their paying customers.

A nice little bar with a fantastic choice of gins and whiskeys in a great location , service good do with a look at as depending who serves you some tend to ignore how shall I say the older generation

Great welcome and service for all customers great friendly atmosphere my Manchester gin was superb served with lemon and thyme

Great beverage selection, lovely little courtyard out the back and nice owner, daughter and team. Nice selection of draught beers and gin selection is excellent. Nicely presented bar.

On a busy Saturday evening three of us sat at a small bar area against the wall in the back garden having a quiet conversation. There were plenty of other couples and groups at the surrounding tables, many of whom had clearly been drinking for some time. A loud, large and aggressive man was sitting close to us, but a security guard came and told us that WE had to move because the garden was ‘too loud’. No one else was asked! The bar inside was very cramped and service was slow. The card machine was broken. There’s only one ladies’ loo. I’d have been irritated by the rude security and discrimination at the very least, but with the other stuff on top? Poor!

Popped in here today, ordered food then realised we had very little time until train. Staff incredibly helpful and friendly and packed it all up for us for a train picnic, lovely combination of breads too 😎

Me and a few friends went last night, the bar staff were extremely rude and spoke about us to other customers. As a paying customer I do not expect to be treated with such disrespect. Honestly never felt so unwelcome anywhere as I did last night. I think one of the bar staffs name was Sarah.

Its a cosy little place, but what it lacks in space it makes up for with a charming interior and a varied list of alcoholic beverages to suit anyone who should visit.

Bar decor trendy and cosy. Two staff slow and no pleasantness or personality or interacting with customers.

A great place for a chill out beer. The staff are always polite and friendly nice atmosphere. What more could you want.

Love this place and its steadily becoming one of our favourites, great range of wines, beers, spirits and cocktails. Called in mid-week, wasn't a school night for me as I'm off with the kids for a week, started with the perfect gin and then a few cocktails, barman was great made me Long Island ice tea even though it's not on the menu!!! Although not this visit they also have some great live music on, well worth a visit.

Small wine bar has a cosy feel about it although we avoid at weekends when it is packed with people .

I love coming in here. The staff are friendly and welcoming. There is a huge choice of spirit's and cocktails with experienced staff willing to advise what tipple to have. The draft beers are amazing and poured to perfection. They have a lovely garden out back for the summer decorated very beautifully with potted plants and fairly lights - almost feels like you're abroad! Inside it's very cosy with a lovely log fire for winter evenings

An unimposing place, packs a great punch. If you like a nice quiet, laid back atmosphere this is the place. An array of cocktails on offer, the guy making them does a great job. Popped in for one, stayed all night. Bramer.

This is just what Ramsbottom needed a very pleasant wine bar with great range of cocktails, wine and local beer in a nice relaxed ambiance. The staff are very friendly and professional and serve drinks with that special care and attention. Good prices not what you would think for a decent place.

Nice place for a drink , good choice of beers and wines. Gets a bit crowded at peak times and difficult to find a seat but enjoyable.

Went on Saturday afternoon with a group of friends prior to going for a meal. It was a busy but relaxed place and a real home from home. Quirky decor and mixed era/style furniture ensure you are at venue with real character and not a run of the mill chain. This place has heart and soul.

Lovely little town in Lancashire Ramsbottom with a quant atmosphere that has got to be experienced especially by steam train.

Be prepared to stand, really nice cocktails, nice gin ones, only bad thing is that it is full of stush middled aged people

This is a smart bar in Ramsbottom. It is quirky in decor. The wine is good and the lady who served us was charming and really helpful. Well worth a visit.

We really enjoyed our visit. We experienced excellent and friendly service from the moment we walked in.

Dropped in on a Saturday evening for a drink and the place was hot, packed and loud, There were a fair number of rather intoxicated people around - all well behaved but loud and wobbly, The beer I tried was from Phoenix brewery and was excellent and I would be interested to return, but perhaps when it is a little less frenetic.

Popped in for a coffee and it took ages for the coffee to be served.it wasn't busy only two other customers. Coffee was like warm so had to change it. Nightmare .

Lovely evening with nice cocktails, a very quirky place indeed. We will be back, thank you to all the staff who were so friendly, making everyone welcome, even on our first visit last night we were made very welcome.

Wow, a 50 year old man being told to take his hoody off which sits under a leather jacket? Are you kidding me? The staff can't distinguish between a scaly and a man twice their age. Disgusting. Everything else was good but won't be returning after being humiliated in this way. Lived in Rammy for 25 years and never felt so low. 'I don't make the rules' was the comment! Better training required.

Went here for drinks with friends. The staff were pleasant, but service was very slow. The drinks selection was very poor. A lady who I think was the owner was definitely full of herself and was quite condescending to one of the customers and came across as overbearing to the staff.

Tried a lot of bars in Ramsbottom, this was the busiest of the lot. Efficient bar staff served us promptly, too busy to get a seat. Good atmosphere, well worth a visit

We called in but only stayed for one drink, it lacked atmosphere, maybe because it wasn't busy and I'm not a coffee drinker.

We have had several visits and been well served. The beer is always good and from clean glasses. The staff are always very pleasant.

We regularly call in for a drink and sometimes a snack. The beer is out of this world and thats why I go often. The atmosphere is friendly lively and service is excellent. The open fire in winter or cold nights is really welcome

Called in after a meal at Levanter and had a bottle of wine and some cake. There was a singer on which gave some great atmosphere and the staff were helpful. Worth calling in

We popped in for a drink not realising there was live music about to start. Jo the barman very chatty and knew his drinks even the owner offered us to try his Old Fashined cocktails and it was lovely..The music was by a couple and they were good and got the crowd singing and dancing felt a regular.

I hate to be writing a bad review about anywhere but tonight I have felt compelled. I brought my parents here tonight and on arrival, the 'bouncer' commented on my parents clothes not being good enough for the bar but he was 'feeling nice' and so would 'let them in'. Then when my partner thanked him, he was rude to my partner. I went to the bar to tell a member of staff about how rude the bouncer was (before I walked straight back out) and they couldn't have cared less.

Called in tonight before a family meal in Ramsbottom. Place almost empty. Waited nearly 15 minutes to get 4 drinks whilst possibly the slowest and most miserable guy behind the bar took ages to serve 2 people. Painful to watch. The landlady sat at a table playing on her laptop. Poor poor service. Won't be going again. Awful.

Called in on Sunday afternoon for a late brunch. Had a good pint of the local ale and shared two platters of Lancashire meats and cheeses which came with good bread, small salads and dipping oil. It was just what we wanted as we weren't looking for a full meal. The place is only small but the ambience is nice and the whole lot was only about twenty quid.

Great trendy wine bar in Ramsbottom. Fab choices of wines and Prosecco, it is small so if you like spacious wine bars give this a miss.

We had a lovely relaxed Good Friday lunch at the XLII. It is not fast food by any means but it was beautifully prepared and presented. Three of our party were vegetarian so we had a extra cheeses with just a little piece of cooked meat.

We came in after the chocolate festival and the atmosphere was great - and love the live music but was very disappointed as after two cocktails wanted another cocktail but they were too busy and said we couldn't have them - they were waiting for the cocktail guy to arrive who was late; I wouldn't mind but we had already spent fifty quid and if you advertise yourself as a cocktail bar ...... They cud only offer two types of cocktail in the afternoon anyway as they didn't know how to make the rest; really nice venue; music good on a Sunday; shame service not consistent

Called here Saturday night. The boys had a beer and the girls fizz. Great atmosphere, friendly staff. 1 minor point - the bar is small and when busy it's hard to get served but that won't put us off going again

Great bar, friendly staff, quirky decor, great music, prefer to go on weekdays when it's not as busy, Saturday's it's literally packed in there but shows how popular it is! Sunday's they giveaway free cheese boards and show some great live music, highly recommend and they also make great cocktails, will be back soon!

We shared a meat platter and a cheese platter. They were both delicious and great value. Such a variety of good quality food and the bread was excelent.

We visit regularly. Nice and chilled during the day and lively in the evening. Great G and T`s and cocktails and as metioned its cosy and quirky/unusual at the same time. Staff are very welcoming and Its stylish and well worth a visit. If you are meeting friends and dont want to be the oldest people in the bar this place is perfect.

Good atmosphere, good beer, good location. Toilets are a little small for a big bar..............been here a few times and enjoyed it. Will pop in again when in the area.

Stumbled across the XLII after a steam train ride to Ramsbottom from Bury on a Saturday afternoon. We were just looking for a drink and quick snack, none of the pubs looked particularly appealing and all the other cafe's were busy with families, then we found the XLII!
