The Lock Keeper in Bury

Myself and my Partner visited the Lock Keeper last weekend. The menu has a good selection of food items and we had a delicious meal. We were served by Aimee who went above and beyond. We highly recommend visiting.

Very disappointed. We ordered our meals.. both arrived so cold as to be inedible... I ordered Scampi which was supposed to come with tartare sauce which wasn't served. My partners chicken flatbread and everything on his plate was cold.I drew this to attention of staff and recieved a hit replacement... slightly less food on the plate as the first cold one.. but at least warm enough to be edible... disappointed.. we've had good experiences before today

Mix grills is microwaved the chicken is microwaved I even think this steak is microwaved gammon is microwaved

A great improvement on the food since the new manager has taken over, really good cooking on the food from the cooks...tomahawk pork chop is fantastic..

Honestly I’d save your money rather than eating from this place. 2nd time in a row ordering from here where I’m left feeling like I’d have been better throwing my money down the drain.Just been sent a meal where half of my food felt like it had just come out of its freezer bag, completely undercooked and the other half Again, was like shoe leather that had been sat under a hot lamp for the last three hours. Quite concerned for whoever cooked this. Definitely won’t be ordering again, save your money or get a maccies you’d enjoy it a lot more!

We came over from Ireland to visit family and we had heard about The Lock Keeper & decided to give it a call. We had a fantastic meal & few drinks and the staff were really attentive & friendly. We were served by a girl called Caitlin (not sure of her surname). We got chatting to her about her Irish roots and she was a pleasure to talk to and she is a credit to your establishment. The food and staff at this place are amazing but Amy stood out above the rest, lovely young lady that always smiling and so polite when I spoke with her and she said she was the chef and I said the food here is amazing. I hope you she don’t go to the great British bake off like she said she always dreamed of doing, it would be a massive loss losing Amy as she the best chef.

I was in the other night and the food was amazing, I asked to complement the chef and a one of the chef came out, a young lady called Amy to great me and my family, I will be coming back soon and is amazing that the chef took the time to come to let me complement them. I recently visited Lock Keeper and had a fantastic dining experience. I ordered the old faithful burger which was perfect and full of flavour. For dessert, the chocolate fudge cake was delicious. The server Karolina was quick and attentive, and the prices were affordable. I would definitely recommend.

Relaxing atmosphere coupled with an enjoyable meal, the waitress (Caitlin) was both helpful and professional in her attitude making the experience a joy. I am not local but will visit this establishment on future trips to the area.

Recently had food at the lock keeper with my children, all staff were amazing but a special shout-out to the staff member called Amy who went above and beyond to ensure my children were happy and ensured they had colouring sheets and crayons to keep them occupied. Popped in for a quick bite with a friend a couple of weeks ago, got served really quickly and the food was good value for money. All the staff were very friendly, especially Amy whose jokes were terrible but gave us a laugh regardless.

Visited The Lock Keeper this evening with my family. Food was nice and good value. We were served by Noah who was friendly and efficient throughout. No complaints and will definitely be back again.

Came in to a well looked after pub, friendly and approachable staff. Got welcomed by a lovely lady called Bailey, poured us some drinks. When we ordered food, we got served by a lovely young man called Noah, very happy chap. Food came out and it was delicious, Asked who the chef was in this particular day and it was Ricardo & Dave. What a wonderful experience.

After ordering food and drinks we went to the bathroom on return the table had been cleared I had to ask for our drinks back !! 20mins later I had to ask where our food was !! When it did arrive my friends hunters chicken was inedible !! Cremated bacon and dry chicken breast when went to the bar to tell them the response was oh sorry !! Disgusting

We have just come back from a small family meal to celebrate my husband's birthday. The lady that served me at the till I think her name was khia, she was LOVELY! very informative and helpful. She was clearing the table for us when we were finished also. Thank you khia. A 30-40 minute wait on food that we knew about as I was told at the bar when ordering, when it came everyone was happy and it all went down a treat. We all had a really nice Thursday evening meal thank you.

Food was amazing, loved the steak on the sizzling plate, but was very, very quiet, felt like we had the whole pub to ourselves 🤣

Absolutely beautiful meal with family. I had the sizzling salmon. One of the best meals in a long time. Would definitely recommend it and a great soft play area for children in a secure safe clean environment.

Funny I was in here the other day having a drink and there was a black Staffordshire bull terrier running around the bar i just called asked if dog are allowed and told no hmm please explain I'm sure this dog is on your cctv and the brewery and owners could explain why I'm been told dogs are not allowed but when I was there quite clearly a dog was not only in the bar area but in the eating area so I await your reply if no reply from your staff I will ask your head office for the explanation

Food was ok; portions were not as large as I would have expected for the price. Poor selection of beers. Not one real ale. And for a pub in the North, a shocking selection of one bitter, and one stout. Only beers they had were larger, bottled cider, John smiths and Guinness.

Always here and staff are fab! Food is great too. Would definitely recommend for families or for a casual drink with friends!!

A little disappointed on the food. My partner got the curry which he enjoyed. I got the hunters chicken. Chips were cold and the chicken was over done. Struggled to cut into it. Unfortunately won't be returning.

The restaurant was clean with plenty of clean tables. There was not an orderly queue to order food but staff knew who were next in line to be served thankfully. Once the food was ordered the waitress checked it back so we knew she had correctly put it through. We had a rather long wait for food which was ok for the adults but not for the 5yr old. We were not told to get our own cutlery which then delayed us attempting to eat our food as we assumed they would be brought to us. 2 adult meals and a child’s meal were delivered at least 6 minutes before the other 2 adult meals which meant we all ate at seperate times. I had ordered chips not fries but was delivered fries. That was ok I sent them back however, I was delivered half a pot of cold crunchy old chips. To say we were disappointed is an understatement. I also felt like the onions on the skillet were very watery like they had previously been frozen and not freshly chopped: they had a funny taste. We didn’t stay for deserts as we had originally planned as we were too disappointed with the mains. My husband also had a skillet meal and he said his food was almost all cold.

Came new years eve with children. Good food good service and great value 😄

Food was awful, turned up cold, microwaved, underdone and also somehow burnt at the same time. Tater tots on a breakfast is weird as it is but they tasted like mushy plastic.

Booked out the function room for a meeting on Monday nights. Three years ago and we still love it there. Go every week and Andrew and the team are always very friendly and deliver the service levels we expect. Highly recommend

The place has had a make over a few months ago and my word was it needed. The place is much brighter now, friendlier staff, excellent food and great beer. Prices have gone up is the only downside

My first time visiting today and well, excellent doesn’t do justice!! The food was amazing, I had a mixed grill, steak cooked perfectly and the chicken was juicy and tender. Everything was piping hot and the staff were fab too!! Nice music playing to suit all tastes and it wasn’t too loud you couldn’t hold a conversation. Thank you for a lovely experience xx

Came here tonight for the Halloween party. Have to say, great credit to the girls who put it on. It was excellent value for money. Food, games, and fun for the family. My little one loved it

Came here for a few drinks and wine with my family. Had a great time celebrating my brothers engagement. We had a buffet in their function room and it was really excellent. Would thoroughly recommend again to anyone else wanting to book a private party.

Poor experience really - came here because it is local to me and needed somewhere convenient before I had an event booked later on . The police were outside when we got there really with an incident - says it all really ! Was just my friend and I - had a table booked but there didn’t seem to be any order to the running of the place and I asked at the better of we could sit anywhere but they were unsure and had to ask the manager. No point in the booking system if it is not in use when you get there . Ordered a Diet Coke and was given ordinary coke - the waitress ran off before I could say anything . Took nearly 40 minutes for the food to come out - I had to ask after waiting nearly a half hour .Understaffed so had to go and search for a waitress as there was none in the area we were in . Food was okay but my friend’s sausages were the most anemic looking things ever . Ordered the pudding whilst I started my main as I knew it would take a while and we had to get going . There were a lot of locals there just using it as a pub/ night out base and lots of families using it as a restaurant which doesn’t really work given the large size they have given over the restaurant part which they can’t seem to manage. That needs a rethink .

Had a great visit here for food and drinks. Staff were polite and friendly. Very good Smiths and the gammon was excellent. My wife had Sausage and Mash which was also very tasty

We all had a nice meal but 2 of the chicken burgers should have come with barbecue sauce which is on the pictures and never did and I had to go to the bar because my husbands Guinness never arrived with our drinks , they had to check our order

Took my elderly relative here today. The place was nice and clean with comfortable chairs and nice decor. Easy to order food and drinks at the bar. Food good and well priced. Staff nice and friendly. Overall enjoyed our visit and will definitely return.

We had a fantastic day at this venue. The children were entertained at fuzzy eds, drinks were well priced and the food was absolutely perfect. The staff were very sociable and the manager could be seen greeting customers with a smile. I would like to add that the venue is well decorated and has a warm and inviting appeal.

Great appearance. We are from Ashton under lyne. We needed a spot of brunch inbetween work appointments. We ordered 2 breakfasts which came just warm. We informed Khia the waitress. Not only did she attend to it she ensured we were fully satisfied. Khia went beyond what most would do. Service with a smile and sent us away happy. This young lady is an asset to your restaurant and would ask management to take note. I will come again with my family on this experience. Khia... Thank you x

This place is really nice and Had nice ambience. Had a little mishap this morning with breakfasts.. they were just warm.. but our waitress Khia was right on it... She sorted it with a smile and gave us extra toast for good measure and we came away totally satisfied. Thanks Khia..you smashed it ....we needed that kind of service. Btw... Ordered chicken tikka masala, rice was rock hard and just about warm. Hunters chicken no better, way overcooked, new chef needed.

Ordered 2 x chicken curry n rice.Had to send the currys back as they were tepid and not hot Had deserts which were good. Place was not full

The food was awful. I could not even eat my starter. Do better☺️ i do not know how anyone enjoys their food. I think someone needs sacking and someone with higher standers needs to take over. The tables are sticky. And it absolutely stinks . Never again will I be returning unless it changes.

We love visiting the Lock keeper as we've always had brilliant service. Firstly the rooms are very clean and inviting with tables cleaned when someone leaves. The staff are very friendly and helpful and make you feel welcome. The food is of excellent quality and always arrives freshly cooked and is great value for money. They have set a standard that's hard to beat.

Came here for the football the other day. Wasnt busy with the football but we managed to get a seat and have some excellent picky food. wings goujons, chick slices and garlic bread all very tasty and served excellently. Will definitely be going again when we have our children with us to make use of the play centre on site

Quite good getting seating was bit problematic due to being busy but they sorted this found items on menu not listed on order at table app but still worth a visit

Genuinely awful. Couldn’t get served as the staff were chatting. Kids running feral. The food was barely warm and greasy. My Hunter’s chicken was topped with a slice of that burger cheese that comes wrapped in plastic. I actually laughed! Peas soggy and over cooked. The gammon was decent! We used to love it here but haven’t been for a year or so. The menu’s changed (for the worse) and they must have a new team in the kitchen. I am disappointed but more amused at just how bad it was. They were fine with us having a cake for my son’s birthday so that was nice of them! I hope it improves as it’s such a good location. We won’t be back sadly. Decent prices admittedly but I’d prefer to pay more for decent food.
