We turned up and were told we were too late for lunch. We didn't mind, and had coffee and cake instead. Demeanour of staff offhand and dismissive. They mainly seemed annoyed that we had interrupted THEIR tea and chat.

Delicious coffee and cakes with my elderly parents, but can't understand the 'collect your tray of food' approach to service, so 4/5 stars.

We happened upon Wyatt's completely by accident. Literally by accident as we had a flat tire about 100M away and it was the closest spot to stop. We ended up having lunch in the team room and hung out for a couple of hours while we waited for AA to arrive. The tea room has a beautiful overlook of the countryside and all of the food was excellent. We started with tea service (loved the sugar cubes), and had a wonderful soup and shared some chips. After lunch we wandered the gift shop, made a couple of purchases, and walked throughout the greenhouses. The staff was all very kind during our unintended stay. We enjoyed the flowers and the views of the countryside. I can't think of a better place to have been "stuck" for a few hours.

Driving from Derbyshire to Chipping Norton for a few days in the Cotswolds and we were ready for a snack, a cuppa and yes, a toilet break. I knew where the plant centre was due to passing nearby in the work van but I'd never visited before. The gift shop was great, a good selection of gift ideas and plenty of local produce and food items. The toilets were clean and tidy. No scones left but that was ok as we had a large slice of cake and a coffee/hot chocolate all of which were delicious. The staff were friendly and attentive, the views were lovely and it was a very welcome break. The plants and the nursery area were very nice to browse and would likely be a regular haunt for us if we were local. My wife almost bought a few shrubs and bushes but the suitcases in the boot were a little in the way so thankfully I managed to persuade her not to. Anyway, it's well worth a visit and we'd be happy to drop in again if we're in the area.

Sandwiches were very poor. Basic sliced bread with very thinly sliced cheese which was rubbery and tasteless. The chutney was in fact a chilli flavour which would not have suited some people. Two lettuce leaves, half a tomato and two slices of cucumber made up the side salad and I had literally a dessert spoonful of coleslaw, Have visited many times in the past but will not be returning in a hurry.

Lovely Sunday breakfast in a cafe with wonderful views over the countryside. Bacon and avocado on two pieces of toast. Huge portions. Really good pots of leaf tea eg Darjeeling and Breakfast. A friend and I went for coffee and tea cake. What a disappointment staff seemed uninterested and cakes looked stale. Coffee was ok but toasted tea cakes were stone cold. Staff member collected them from kitchen but I am sure they had been toasted hours before they were dry and butter was no way going to spread onto them. Another couple on next table had the same and they said how disappointing they were. If you are going to serve toasted tea cakes I suggest you toast them freshly not in advance.

After seeing a sign for the Tearooms at the Rollright stones, we decided to visit for afternoon tea as it was just over a mile away. Situated inside a garden centre, the Tearooms are a bit tired. The staff is cheerful and the hot drinks were good. We tried the chocolate cake and the coconut Madeira. The Madeira was quite dry and whilst the chocolate cake was enjoyed by the kids, it too looked no better than the Madeira. We sat in the garden area which was devoid of any ambience. The fence was straining under the pressure of overgrown hedges of the garden centre. The promised views of the Cotswolds were hidden behind shrubs and hedges and could only be seen by climbing up on a small mound from where the back alleys of a working farm were visible first prior to any views. There were very few patrons and hence it was a respite from the crowded areas of Chipping Norton or Burford that we experienced earlier.

My wife and I are local to this venue and regularly go there on a Sunday morning for coffer etc. and it was one of our favourite places for Sunday morning However this morning's visit was like visiting a different place. we accept that as the result of Covid-19 changes have had to be made to the way the cafe operates but this no excuse for stale and limited food, a lack of interest by the staff and no attempt made to take our contact details for covid track and trace. Directions said to wait to be seated but no one came after several minutes and we had to shout for attention. the staff could be heard chatting away in the kitchen but no one was at the counter at all When i tried to order two bacon baps I was told that they don't do them now, why not?. When asked what was available i was directed towards some unappetising looking pastries and a few baguettes that were pre-packed and looked as if they had been bought in from the local supermarket. I chose a cheese scone and my wife a toasted teacake to have with a Latte and a tea.. The latte was extremely weak and tasted like frothy warm milk as it wasn't even hot. The cheese scone was extremely stale and was obviously several days old. the butter pats that came with it were sold and had obviously just come out of the fridge. The toasted teacake was also stale and one side was slightly toasted whilst the other was not toasted at all. All in all a very disappointing experience and after years of supporting this place we will not be going back in the foreseeable future

However, we were served by a friendly young lady but I was disappointed with the cake. I love the caramel topped flapjack and always choose it when I visit. However please do not store in refrigerator overnight. Not for the first time it was rock hard and almost impossible to get a fork into! I did not request it be warmed in the microwave as the last time that happened, it melted to a sludge! Sorry Wyatts but your cakes are really quite expensive and therefore you need to be at the top of the game. There is much competition out there for you now. I cannot comment on lunches but I understand from others that the Sunday lunch especially is very good indeed.

We have been going to Wyatts for many years. The plants are the best in Oxfordshire and the knowledge of the plant staff is considerable, they enjoy explaining the care of their plants. All plants flourish well. Henry's Butcher has the tastiest free range chickens and pork in Oxfordshire/Warwickshire and he will cut any joint to your requirements. He and his wife could not be more helpful.Beautiful location, pretty gifts in the general shop, what could be more perfect. BUT the staff in the café were the worst we have experienced in our lifetime. Rude is an understatement. Waited for over 30mins when the cafe was no longer busy, for a straightforward lunch after 2pm, then receiving the wrong food when we went to find out what was happening, our dinner had been left to one side in the kitchen. To make it even worse we were given the meanest of apology from the shift manageress when we complained about the whole experience were 'told' we 'seemed unhappy' and would be given our money back and we 'should' leave. We had even offered to collect our food from the hatch and made it very clear as to where we were sitting. Every time we go to Wyatts we have called into the café and been served by someone new. What is this saying. Sad, as this café could be heavenly.

It was 2.15 for a pot of tea which was served in a neat cast iron teapot. We were taking a break during a long journey but will certainly stop in again to try their lunch menu.

I was away with friends and walked down the Burford highstreet to find a lovely gem which was Mrs Bumbles, filled with delicious local produce. I had a nice chat with the owner Sally who recommended to try her homemade chili jam sausage roll - which was so good! I definitely would go back again!

When a business contact of mine from London told me he would be visiting Witney, of course I wanted to meet up with him. But also I wanted to impress him and show him the best that Witney ha to offer. When I booked dinner at The Three Horseshoes I was confident that my contact would have a great evening, and it was absolutely the right choice. As soon as he arrived he commented on how amazing the pub was, and how he loved the atmosphere and the log burner too. Our dinner was fantastic and even though the place was busy, the speed or service and the attentiveness of the team was brilliant. They were there when we needed them, and left us to get on with our business conversation the rest of the time. For impressing a really important contact from London - The Three Horseshoes was exactly the right choice and what is SO brilliant is that it is also the perfect choice for a quiet pint or to meet up with friends too.

We visited for Sunday lunch mid August. Restaurant wasn’t by any means quiet but didn’t seem overly busy. From start to finish we received excellent service. Nothing was too much trouble. All questions were answered. Food was delicious really enjoyed every bit, others had puddings which were good too. Al members of staff were excellent and clearly enjoying their work. Beth was the one who served us mostly. She was attentive, kind and extremely helpful. All in all a great visit. Pricing is reasonable, portion sizes are good. Thank you we hope to visit again soon.

It isn’t that often I visit The Windmill, but I know the place well enough to know something is very different. There was a different aura in the air today. I didn’t recognise any of the staff members, and whilst they seemed like a large family, they were all unique and discombobulated in their own ways. I must start with some high praise - we were greeted very kindly by a lovely tall Irish lady with a beaming smile. Whilst very busy, she was also very accompanying and allowed us to buy a few of their home-made pint glasses (which she said she wasn’t supposed to do). Hats off to her for the hospitality. Sadly things took a slight turn for the worse whilst we were seated. It was only myself and my partner ordering some pub grub, however, after a brief conversation with the waiter it was quickly apparent that some kind of knowledge barrier prevented us from ordering exactly what we wanted. I have a suspicion this older gentleman was a distinguished chef from years gone by, because there wasn’t a single word I understood in his recommendations. Embarrassingly, we decided to opt for a few beers at the bar before ordering food instead. I must admit, that was a saving grace, for their homemade beer ‘Hawkstone’ was divine. The bartender was full of dry wit which added to a great atmosphere amongst the other guests. He has that familiar family friendly humour, like you wouldn’t be surprised to see him on TV! Not only was the beer exceptional in quality, the slight intoxication seemed to clear up some of the brain fog I was experiencing earlier, since the waiter suddenly seemed to made a lot more sense! So, we finally ordered our meal and enjoyed some local produce - again, simply divine. Despite the great tastes and atmosphere, I couldn’t help but feel the service was jeopardised by the initial language barrier. As such, I did ask the waiter if we could remove our service charge. I should add, this was a new waiter at the time, a dreary English chap who wasn’t impressed with our request. Whilst his thorough and detailed lecture around why a service charge holds such an important role in the overarching finance of the food industry, I tried to hold my ground and get this removed from the bill. It was only after we realised my partner had been asleep for 8 minutes that we sped things up, paid the bill with a 50/50 compromise on the service charge, and got ourselves out of there. All in all, I’d recommend the establishment because, despite some teething problems and unorthodox scenarios, the people are genuine and the food/drink is exceptional. Just keep an eye out for those tractors (given the rural area) - a young man with curly blonde hair had completely blocked my car in so we had to wait half an hour to leave!

Three phone conversations with the hotel management eventually confirmed that a Sunday roast could be obtained in the Terrace resturant. A table for 7 was booked and confirmed. On arrival the Terrace resturant was set up for a wedding ceremony. No other dining tables were apparent. On querying this with bar staff we were abruptly told "not our problem".Eventually found a deputy manager who set about laying up a dining table amongst the wedding guests ! Meanwhile we tried other local venues but couldn't get in within our timescale. We eventually sat for our anticipated Sunday lunch in a crowded golf club bar surrounded by a multitude of wedding guests. The food was obviously recently pulled out of the freezer, looked and tasted same ! HOPELESS !!We recommend training for front of house management in the art of coordination and courtesy for members of the bar staff.
