Woodman in Reigate and Banstead

We went today for a light lunch with our 4 month old puppy. The staff were lovely and friendly. We all very much enjoyed our food, steak and venison pie, gammon steak and lasagne. The pub had a very nice atmosphere and we will definitely visit again when we are in the area.

Was there on Monday in the early afternoon. Bar service was slow. Attended for lunch, shared the cod and ham. Fish was great, ham was good. Was surprisingly full. Pleasant experience.

Took an elderly family friend out for dinner. First time at the woodman dinner ( Sunday roast) was fabulous 👌 atmosphere great service and beer brilliant 👏 will definitely return soon loved it 😋 xx

Had an amazing lunch. Four of us went with different dinners and they were all amazing.

Visited on Sunday afternoon. 3 steaks, 2 lamb shanks and a Kids meal with a few drinks. The food was great and all the staff were helpful and friendly and even accommodating with a few adjustments to the meals. Would highly recommend. Make sure you book a table in advance.

The Sunday lunch was very disappointing. The rib of beef was so salty we could not eat it. The potatoes were frozen, and the cauliflower cheese was undercooked. . The staff offered no apology but said it was supposed to be salty !!! We will not have Sunday lunch here again.

4 of us came here recently for a triple roast dinner with all the trimmings. Cooked really well and nicely presented.

I visited yesterday with a friend for dinner. Service was excellent, the food was sensational (Chicken Burger) and the pub was extremely clean with a friendly atmosphere! 5 stars from us!

The food is ok, the portion size is adequate but this place was seriously let down by the slow & unfriendly service. Great place for a drink but not for food unfortunately!

Visited today for lunch, food was passable although the beef was tough and dry, the parsnips were virtually raw. Other veg was also too hard. Service was very quick. Shame food was not up to much as pub is nice with an outside bar.

A regular at this pub for a few years now as I live very close and always been a good atmosphere with friendly staff. However the current manager, in contrast to other staff, is beyond disrespectful and rude. Food portions are unacceptably small for the price being charged, only 6 chips came with my meal which cost over £14 and tasted as if it was a frozen dinner. Will not be returning for the foreseeable future.

Been going here since I was a kid and it’s always been lovely. Unfortunately the new manager is horrible and is always rude to us, the steep rise in food price is enough to put you off but when the people at the top clearly don’t want anyone in their pub it becomes a bigger issue. On top of this the food portions are tiny

Great place to visit. We've been here a few times. I'm vegan, and have never been disappointed with the food. Blooming lush We'll defo be returning soon. He's already looking forward to it.

Had lunch in the garden on probably the hottest day of the year. Food very good. Staff very friendly and helpful, especially the young guy behind the bar. They still had smiles on their faces even though they were probably hot and bothered. Very friendly pub.

Excellent Sunday lunch today. Having never been before, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. The roasts were delicious, well seasoned and cooked. They came out hot, with free extra yorkies and roasties if you wanted it! The location is fantastic, with a green behind the pub for a little stroll. The pub has a fantastic large garden with different areas, so you can choose a quieter spot or go nearer the bouncy castle! The bouncy castle for kids is superb.

Went here for dinner. And it wasn't paticularly busy. But from ordering our starters to actually receiving our starters was 50 minutes. Been here a few times before. But this was the worse experience. No idea what was going on

Spent most of my day here today with my family of 5... I was very impressed. It was a beautiful day, therefore became very busy. There was a bouncy castle outside for the children in the lovely, clean garden. Food was good and reasonably priced. Beer was excellent. With the pub being on my doorstep and with a greater family feel, i am likely to be returning.

Visited with a large group of hungry cyclists in folding bikes. The food was delicious. Had the Triple Roast (it was Sunday obviously) and the staff were very nice and friendly. Definitely worth a visit!!

Went to the Woodman last night for a Garage Night… it was so good! Music was brilliant, atmosphere was friendly and fun, it was very busy but staff were able to cope and there wasn’t long wait times to get a drink as they have both inside and outside bars. This pub was made for nights like these, it has a fantastic garden - perfect for summer evenings and parties. I would highly recommend going if they have another one.

I went here last night for an event. I was part of a large group. We all had such a great night. Music was great. Staff lovely and the pub grounds are so beautiful. Highly recommend!!

It was my first time visiting the woodman on Saturday. I had such an amazing night with my fiends. The staff were really friendly and there was a fantastic DJ playing in the garden, it was a garage music night which is what I like. I will definitely be looking to see what events they have on and come back.

Me and my partner attended the garage night live entertainment evening at the Woodman on Saturday night with our local friends. It was such a fantastic evening, so many people were there enjoying themselves, dancing and singing along to the brilliant music. Please make these outdoor live music events more frequent - everyone I spoke to said they didn’t want the night to end and wanted the music to carry on! Well done Woodman, fantastic night out for the local community to enjoy!

First visit for lunch, very impressed. Good choices all well cooked and soon served even though it was a very busy day. Staff were friendly and efficient, especially Gemma. Recommended. Excellent garden when the weather is good!

Visited for Sunday Roast. The service I wouldn’t say it was the best, but the roast was excellent! Really liked the mashed potatoes and the meat (I chose the turkey option). Would definitely recommend! Dog friendly.

Went in on a Monday 18:00 the pub was almost empty. The bar was unmaned. Waited for 2 minutes and then left Cannot rate the food; service or atmosphere as we had none. Very poor and typical of today's atitude towards customers in lots of establishments. "It would all run much smoother; if it wasn't for the customers being there" Why would we "Give you another chance"? As we left last time we saw a staff member engrossed with her mobile phone instead of manning the bar. I suggest that the way to improve your service is to employ staff who undersand the meaning of the word, not people whose only qualification is an ability to walk on two legs We have been using The Woodman since 1979 and are not new customers.

On 4th July, we decided to have lunch at Woodman due to good opinions on Google, menu options, and it looked really great. We weren't disappointed at first. We found a nice table in the garden, staff were welcoming and smiley, but no one attended our table. I found some menus on the waiter station, we chose what we wanted, and I went to order. At the bar, I discovered that the entire place was operated by two floor staff and a lady in the kitchen. Apparently, a manager was on duty, but she was nowhere to be found. Guests were impatiently queuing, and the team was clearly overwhelmed with the amount of work. Eventually, I placed an order, but mistakes were made, as the layout of the menu versus layout in their system does not correspond. I brought my drinks to the table, and we waited good 25-30 mins for the first dishes to arrive. Due to an error mentioned earlier, my chicken didn't arrive, and I had to wait another 20-25 mins before I received it. The food was average at best. Salad dish had virtually no dressing, just some veggie thrown in a ball. The chicken with chorizo didn't taste great either, and was accompanied only by a few leaves of salad and yesterday's potatoes. The pasta with fish was tasty, but the best thing on the table were chips with cheese (which with whole honesty were just amazing). After we finished the meal, we saw the same two team members literally running like headless chickens (still no manager around), trying to clear and reset tables whilst trying to run service. As kind, professional, and polite they were, they obviously needed more help, more training, and support. Even an order of espresso took a long while, as one of the team members didn't know how to operate the coffee machine and at the end we received americano instead, which obviously wasn't what we ordered. We really like the place. We would only recommend a greater focus on food quality, taste, and presentation, as well as training and support of an undoubtedly brilliant team you already have.

Went for my daughter's birthday. Food was really good, staff are lovely but unfortunately there were a few issues with ordering drinks. My daughter ordered a cocktail from the menu and wasn't able to have her choice due to ingredients not being available. There was a new member of bar staff working who needs a little more training (which is fine, we all have to learn, but don't feel she was closely enough supervised. We ordered coffee after our meal and after waiting 15 -20 minutes, asked where it was, only to be told the staff member who took our order had left her shift without processing the order... all in all spoilt what started out a lovely afternoon. Will be back though. Understand these things can happen.

Picturesque boozer, shame about the service. Loads of staff walking around looking at a clipboard scratching their heads. Starter came out in 30 seconds and was straight out the freezer bag and burnt to a nice carcinogenic crisp! Left our plates on the table for over the hour we were waiting for our mains. Forgot to mention they forgot to bring us cutlery with our starter so had to go to the bar and ask for that. Had to order at the bar as no table service was provided, not sure if that was meant to be. Chased our mains and were told 5 minutes. 20 minutes later were told “they are doing it right now”. Mains finally came out and were nice enough but the sour taste was already present by that point. A real shame as looks like a lovely pub but service wasn’t up to scratch. Nice enough people but in need of some training. Fine for an overpriced pint but not for food!

Absolutely excellent . The service given by Kelly & Lauren was, I’m sure, far beyond one would expect at a very busy lunch time. We were a party of 20 people all with different choices concerning food and drink. Food was always delivered with a smile and drinks served with a smile. Thank you girls- Kelly and Lauren . What a superb pub! We visit the Woodman at least once a week for lunch and it’s always a joy. We are always made welcome by the friendly bar staff and the food and drink, including a range of beers, is excellent and good value for money. The Woodman is comfortable and well laid out with a dedicated dog area and parking, there’s also a lovely garden outside for the Summer months. Thank you all and keep up the good work! Had a lovely afternoon up here today, always great friendly service, never had a Sunday roast here before so wasn’t sure what to expect, it was actually amazing, one of best roasts I’ve had out anywhere. Highly recommend.

Great meal, service good , staff could not do enough

This is my 4th lunch-time visit with my friend Helen to the pretty Woodman pub and each time we’ve been made to feel very welcome & received wonderful service. Excellent menu choices & the food is really well made & well presented - today’s steak & caramelised onion baguette & sweet potato fries, followed by rhubarb, plum & ginger crumble and ice cream was excellent. We staggered out! Big thank yous to Loz & Kelly who looked after us so well. We’ll definitely return :)

Definitely had better, we had the 3 meat roast, and all 3 tasted the same, plus we ordered a side of cauliflower cheese, and it was burnt.

Had fish & chips here on Friday,the batter was a bit soggy and looked like it could have done with another few minutes in the fryer. This is not the first time I’ve had a bad experience and I won’t be going back for more.

Busy pub due to it being BH Monday. Booked table and wasn't greeted when we arrived so just wondered and found our table. Ordered food on APP and was then told food was taking 1.5 hours. When the food arrived it was very nice. Will probably be inclined to try another local pub next time. Nice garden area and parking OK.

My partner and I booked a table at this pub on 1 April 2024. When we arrived at about 13:09 pm we indicated that we had made a reservation. A young gentleman checked and said that we were not on the list. A woman who appeared to be the shift manager then said if the booking was made on the day there was a glitch in the system and she had no seats available but we could sit outside if we wished. We found her manner to be crass and rude and she made no attempt to assist. The young man and another female colleague assisted with finding us a table. We ordered and waited for over an hour without our food. When we enquired we were told there would be a further 20 minute wait. When our order finally arrived it was cold and items were missing. There was no apology from the waitress who also did not provide us with cutlery or condiments. It took a further 10 minutes to obtain these items. The rudeness of the shift supervisor continued when just behind us an elderly couple was standing near a booked table and she brought customers to sit there commenting loudly “Apologies that people have been lingering here”! Lingering! How rude and unprofessional! And it was said for the elderly couple to hear. We were so disgusted we left immediately. It is a lovely looking pub with good atmosphere but the service (at least today) was horrible.

The "simple" download this app to retrieve your free drink advertising ended up being extremely hard work with only a very small amount of drink available in the offer. Once we eventually got our free soft drink and ordered our food, we then had to wait over an hour for our food. The food was nice once we got it but most customers (understandably) became pretty restless with this wait with no communication as to why it was so long!

A lovely traditional pub with a beautiful garden in a village setting. The food here is lovely. It has a varied menu and even serve cream teas. We'll worth a visit but at busy times book in advance. It can get busy.

So much wrong with this place. Booked a table, wasn’t greeted and when asked the bar, they told us to take a menu from one of the bar tables. Ordered food with an allergy, came out with the allergen 40 mins after ordering. The waitress was really argumentative and said it wasn’t mayo, then turned out it was. Ordered the steak sandwich with it coming 40 mins later and cold. Ordered a kids meal and pretty sure I saw another table handing it back only to be served. Never going to this place again. Terrible, dangerous for people with allergies and amazing how it’s in business, probably for not much longer given how empty it was on a Saturday.

I ordered the fish cake which arrived in a timely fashion. The food was delicious and did not disappoint. The server ( Gemma ) was pleasant and ensured we were looked after well. I would definitely recommend this pub. The atmosphere was pleasant and despite being busy we didn’t have to wait for the meal.

Fabulous Mother’s Day dinner with added surprise of a gift for Mother’s. Food was great and served promptly as well as food choice for children.

We had a really lovely afternoon tea, the food was delicious and very reasonable. My mum has dementia and our waitress Gemma was very helpful and put us on a quiet table which made my mum feel less anxious. The pub also has 2 disabled parking bays. We had a lovely time and will definitely return in the future.

We had the most amazing meals at The woodman! My husband and I had the wonderful pies, my daughter had the super sausage and mash, my younger daughter had the delicious gammon, and my son in law had the very tasty lamb shank. We all absolutely loved our meals, they were delightful. We were looked after by the wonderful Jack, he really did ensure we enjoyed our visit. Our food was cooked by the very talented Chef Lao and Chef Stuart, amazing chefs. I would thoroughly recommend The Woolpack, in fact we are returning on Saturday for lunch, can’t wait 😋😋😋.

We love The Woodman. Lauren and Kelly and Gemma are lovely people and we always enjoy our meal and often have a chat with the staff and locals. They always have time for you. The atmosphere is good and we hope The Woodman always remains a lovely local pub and never changes (to one of those pretentious pubs). It's a credit to the community.

Visited yesterday with family. Served by Gemma, who is always friendly and gives great service. We are so happy that the lunch time menu is back. Such amazing value and food was fantastic. This was our first time visiting since the refurbishment, the pub looks great. Really recommend The Woodman!

Visited the pub for dinner. The pub has been done up and looks great. We were greeted by Lauren, shown to a dog friendly table and dogs were given water and treats. My partner had the scampi and I had the beef rib. Both meals looked and tasted great. Lovely pub. Friendly staff. Welcoming atmosphere

Meet up with friends for lunch and everything was lovely, friendly staff lovely food ,and my friend brought her dogs that were made welcome they were given water and treats .I had the fish cake and salad which was so good my friends had lamb shanks and scampi and chips and they said it was very good. We will be meeting up there again

Although my meal was okay my sister forond a hair in hers which was woven into her salad and it made her feel sick and she could not finish it. We also found that dogs are welcome here! The Food Hygiene Regulations 2013, under EU Regulation (EC) 852/2004, Annex II states that dogs are not allowed in areas where food is prepared, handled, or stored. In the definition of a Restaurant, it says that it is a place where food is prepared, so, of course they are not allowed in. If dogs are welcome It also says a lot about how the restaurant views its own hygiene. If it lowers, it’s standards by letting in animals where else does it fail to meet hygiene standards. I won't be rushing back.

Mid week visit for lunch , warm welcome and cosy ambience. The food has improved considerably since company changeover? I had fish and chips which was delicious and not at all greasy. The pub, I notice will be closed for refurbishment on 8th January for a month, I look forward to see the alterations. (PS my mother who lived in the village worked at this pub in appx 1940!)

Booked a large Christmas set menu party, fairly quite the evening we came, service was good & friendly , food was hot & cooked well, only slight neg is it took quite a while for water to come to the table,& the veggies portion size was small Would def come back again

Came here for Christmas Day dinner, and everything was 10/10. Food service was quick, really tasty & the staff were all wonderful - special shoutout to Jack for making us feel so welcome!
