Woodman in Reigate and Banstead

A lovely traditional pub with a beautiful garden in a village setting. The food here is lovely. It has a varied menu and even serve cream teas. We'll worth a visit but at busy times book in advance. It can get busy.

So much wrong with this place. Booked a table, wasn’t greeted and when asked the bar, they told us to take a menu from one of the bar tables. Ordered food with an allergy, came out with the allergen 40 mins after ordering. The waitress was really argumentative and said it wasn’t mayo, then turned out it was. Ordered the steak sandwich with it coming 40 mins later and cold. Ordered a kids meal and pretty sure I saw another table handing it back only to be served. Never going to this place again. Terrible, dangerous for people with allergies and amazing how it’s in business, probably for not much longer given how empty it was on a Saturday.

I ordered the fish cake which arrived in a timely fashion. The food was delicious and did not disappoint. The server ( Gemma ) was pleasant and ensured we were looked after well. I would definitely recommend this pub. The atmosphere was pleasant and despite being busy we didn’t have to wait for the meal.

Fabulous Mother’s Day dinner with added surprise of a gift for Mother’s. Food was great and served promptly as well as food choice for children.

We had a really lovely afternoon tea, the food was delicious and very reasonable. My mum has dementia and our waitress Gemma was very helpful and put us on a quiet table which made my mum feel less anxious. The pub also has 2 disabled parking bays. We had a lovely time and will definitely return in the future.

We had the most amazing meals at The woodman! My husband and I had the wonderful pies, my daughter had the super sausage and mash, my younger daughter had the delicious gammon, and my son in law had the very tasty lamb shank. We all absolutely loved our meals, they were delightful. We were looked after by the wonderful Jack, he really did ensure we enjoyed our visit. Our food was cooked by the very talented Chef Lao and Chef Stuart, amazing chefs. I would thoroughly recommend The Woolpack, in fact we are returning on Saturday for lunch, can’t wait 😋😋😋.

We love The Woodman. Lauren and Kelly and Gemma are lovely people and we always enjoy our meal and often have a chat with the staff and locals. They always have time for you. The atmosphere is good and we hope The Woodman always remains a lovely local pub and never changes (to one of those pretentious pubs). It's a credit to the community.

Visited yesterday with family. Served by Gemma, who is always friendly and gives great service. We are so happy that the lunch time menu is back. Such amazing value and food was fantastic. This was our first time visiting since the refurbishment, the pub looks great. Really recommend The Woodman!

Visited the pub for dinner. The pub has been done up and looks great. We were greeted by Lauren, shown to a dog friendly table and dogs were given water and treats. Meet up with friends for lunch and everything was lovely, friendly staff lovely food ,and my friend brought her dogs that were made welcome they were given water and treats .I had the fish cake and salad which was so good my friends had lamb shanks and scampi and chips and they said it was very good. We will be meeting up there again

Although my meal was okay my sister forond a hair in hers which was woven into her salad and it made her feel sick and she could not finish it. We also found that dogs are welcome here! The Food Hygiene Regulations 2013, under EU Regulation (EC) 852/2004, Annex II states that dogs are not allowed in areas where food is prepared, handled, or stored. In the definition of a Restaurant, it says that it is a place where food is prepared, so, of course they are not allowed in. If dogs are welcome It also says a lot about how the restaurant views its own hygiene. If it lowers, it’s standards by letting in animals where else does it fail to meet hygiene standards. I won't be rushing back.

Mid week visit for lunch , warm welcome and cosy ambience. The food has improved considerably since company changeover? I had fish and chips which was delicious and not at all greasy. The pub, I notice will be closed for refurbishment on 8th January for a month, I look forward to see the alterations. (PS my mother who lived in the village worked at this pub in appx 1940!)

Booked a large Christmas set menu party, fairly quite the evening we came, service was good & friendly , food was hot & cooked well, only slight neg is it took quite a while for water to come to the table,& the veggies portion size was small Would def come back again

I was in a group of 10, visiting on Thursday lunch-time. Food for all of us was excellent, and the service was good, and friendly. This is a lovely pub and I would highly recommend it.

Booked a table for five in the restaurant but on arrival was shown to a high table with stools in the corner at the back of the bar. Not suitable for the older members of my party and where no one was eating only drinking. When stating it wasn’t suitable and I had booked the restaurant I was told they had a Christmas Party booking so that took precedence. They were not helpful or apologetic at all. I cancelled the booking and went to another local establishment where the staff were amazing and the food fab. As someone who has often gone to the Woodman for lunch I shall not be going there again.

Had a great night at the pub for the Christmas lights switch on. Band excellent and enjoyed the pumpkin soup and mince pies.

An atmospheric pub off the beaten track. Ample parking, lots of outside space, and dog friendly. Food was tasty and served promptly, but the barman was almost disparaging because I ordered lager! Hey, be grateful for the custom, whatever people are drinking. We're not all real ale enthusiasts.

The best Sunday roast in the area! Ate here many times and the Sunday roast is consistently very good! Extra roast potatoes gravy and yorkies on request. The staff are lovely too! Our servers Loz and Elsie were very informative of any allergens and their service was speedy and very efficient.

Had a really nice meal here this evening , ordered from the specials menu which was really good value . Food was well cooked and tasty and the service was very good.. there was a bit of noise and swearing from the public bar , but didn’t spoil our visit too much

Sunday roast is usually lovely…. But on this occasion is wasn’t good…. No green veg.. only one hard parsnip and one hard carrot. We mentioned to the waitress who is always so nice and helpful, straight away she ordered some green veg and more gravy. Not sure what happened with the roast dinners on this occasion, I hope it doesn’t happen again.

The service was great from Jess and Gemma and the food was delicious. Specially recommend the brownie on the set lunch menu.

It's a country pub with garden, expect it to be busy when sunny. You ain't the only one thinking that on a sunny day.

We visited The Woodman for lunch and had a great meal and drinks We found the menu was offering all things that a pub should have There were 4 of us and all meals were well looked. My particular meal was the sausage and mashed potatoes and I found this to be delightful and very tasty with lots of nice tasting gravy Jack and Joel looked after us a treat and made for a very pleasant afternoon It is a dog friendly pub and this was a bonus

Super cozy, with a beautiful garden, quiet location, staff super friendly. Everything is only topped by the food. We loved the fish and chips and Hunters Chicken so much that we ate there again the next day. The food was also perfect.

The service from Jack and Gemma was excellent. The food was out of this world, we both had the steak sandwich and fries. Perfectly cooked to our liking , flavour great, the gravy was incredibly rich. The chicken Goujon starter was so tender and succulent.

Thank you guys food was great service was even better our server is named Jack he kept on top of this and was really polite. My partner has a severe nut allergy and he was great accommodating for this. Really appreciate it and will definitely be coming back

The Woodman is absolutely lovely. So warm and welcoming. Lovely pub in a quiet location. I went for dinner with my partner on a Friday night. I had the most brilliant server, Jack. I have a severe nut allergy so eating out can be difficult but Jack was completely on top of this. The smallest risk of cross contamination with my food, he would let me know and I changed my order. I was really looked after from Jack and I appreciated it hugely. Will 100% be visiting again, either for a drink in the huge beer garden/heated terrace or for the food. Jack really made my experience very pleasurable. Thank you Jack! I hope you see this review!

Visited yesterday 26/09/23 with a large group from a wonderful ladies social club. It was the first day of the new menu and the food was absolutely delicious, very well presented and a good amount of choice. The prices were fair and actually very very good. It's a lovely place to go to, the garden outside has ample seating too if you wanted to sit outside and it's very pretty. We sat inside which seating is good and comfortable and the two ladies that looked after our large group Kelly and Emma were absolutely amazing, dealing with all our requests and were super friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. We were a large group of ladies with different abilities/mobility some with sticks/crutches and also different food requirements vegan etc and everyone was catered for beautifully. Will definitely go again,, already thinking of going to try their tempting weekend roast menu!

Excellent friendly service from Jack and India.

This is our second visit, and again, we were not disappointed with our experience. The food is wonderful and the staff are friendly and attentive. We would recommend the bread and butter pudding fingers with vanilla custard, for someone like me, who is more of a savoury person and has never liked custardi n the past,, these have changed my whole perception. This is a very cosy pub, who welcomes children but also dogs, which is highly unusual. Definitely will not be our last visit. Jack behind the bar is also very helpful and friendly. All in all, it's a lovely little gem.

Really improved over the years and it's a real decent boozer now. When it's warm and the sun is out nothing beats their beer garden.

We were very disappointed to find the usual choice of wraps and beautiful scones had been changed to mainly cheese sandwich triangles and lower quality scones. The price has increased by 40% but the quality and quantity has decreased. Service is good, but it is a shame the food wasn’t as good as our previous visits.

We have been here 4 times during this year for afternoon tea. Staff & customer service excellent, however having put the price up, the quality and quantity of food was very disappointing and certainly not as good as previous visits.

The food was ok. We had steak, which was a bit tough, so we had to go and get our cutlery, napkins, salt, and sauce. The atmosphere was beautiful and calming after every relaxing moment. Yes, I would come back again, but next time, I would like to try their fish and chips. It did look rather delicious.

So we were passing by, so I asked the wife if she would like a drink, as we’ve never been here before. After 30 minutes or so we decided to have a meal also. Now I’ve been to many restaurants, but the food dished up here was better than most, and on par with the best I’ve attended. Prices were great too. Thanks to Gemma and her team, and a special thanks to the chef who made it all worthwhile.

We called in for a drink on a lovely, balmy summer’s evening. We were welcomed by Gemma, who is always so pleased to see you and very helpful. We ate later - great menu choices - eventually went for the 2 course meal deal, which was great! Beautiful surroundings - choice of sitting outside back garden including arbour, or out the front or inside - authentic and traditional with a contemporary twist. Great service with a smile. Popped into the pub for a lunch with my children. The food choices were good and reasonably priced on the lunch menu. We were served drinks promptly by Jack. Our food came out quickly, even though the pub was quite busy. The food tasted good and we were pleased with our choices. Staff were friendly and polite.

Ideal village pub. Traditional pub food (we had the pies which were amazing). Great selection of drinks with my favourite cider (Aspalls). Friendly staff. Dog friendly with mini dog food menus. Had a lovely lunch with girlfriends here great food and reasonable prices unlike some local pubs which have gone 'upmarket'. Friendly staff and barman Jack was very helpful in a nice relaxed atmosphere will definitely be back.

We planned our visit to have lunch and drinks in the garden on one of the summers loveliest days. Not too hot but needing shade and we found that in the garden here. A large garden with numerous tables both grass and paved areas. All very clean and tidy and actually only one wasp all the time we were there! The food was fabulous. Well it would be at the discounted prices from the evening menu!! Fantastic chicken salad, really good burgers and my pick the fish and chips! The like of which I have not had for a long time. Bravo the Woodman chef. She or He did a great job Wash down with real ales from Harvey's at £4.45 & Shere Drop at £4.50 We left much satisfied with the compliments to the staff at the Woodman. I believe it's Dave, who manages the pub and he does a very good job indeed. There are lots of photos in the reviews, but one that took our fancy was the dog menu. Visiting woofers get treated well here if their owners are so obliged.

After a walk in Banstead woods we love to pop into the Woodman for a meal and a few drinks. The staff are really friendly, especially Diane. We have never had a bad experience, the food is always superb. The beer garden is lovely on a warm day. The pub is really dog friendly and very accommodating and inviting. Can't praise the staff enough.

Very nice people cute pub but the food is tasteless. It was so reasonably priced but the gyoza were tasteless and the burger tasted frozen and burnt with no real flavour the chicken dish tried to have flavour by mixing cheese onion bbq and marinara but it was so watery.

We were visiting the local lavender farm at Mayfield and came across the pub on our way home. Beautiful garden area with lots of parasols and a pagoda to shelter from the rain. Dogs welcome. Good menu choices but unfortunately they were having issues with their fryer so couldn't make certain dishes. We enjoyed our food and would return again when in the area.

Had a really nice lunch at Woodman today. Food and staff both lovely. Our two dogs were very appreciative of special meat treat from the owner. We will certainly be returning.

All i can say is wow! Had my 21st birthday party ! Truly grateful to Graham, Loz, India, Emma, Jack and teayia couldn’t do enough for me and all the guests. Superb service all night! Thank you so much ! 5 stars all the way.

We went for afternoon tea for my mum's 87th birthday and it was lovely. This is a village pub so if you want something posh or chic it's probably not for you. But we had a lovely time - as much tea as you wanted...

Great place, nice looking interior and lovely exterior. Great friendly staff. Have knocked it down a star because there was only 1 person behind the bar, meaning a long wait to order. Food was delicious, though, and nice drinks, too. Couple of things we did notice though was a lack of mobile signal made using the at table app difficult, and an outdoor no smoking area would be nice as well as its not nice eating around lots of smoke and dirty ashtrays.

Fantastic pub. Food was plentiful and delicious. We had a Sunday Roast Lunch (2 with Turkey, 1 Mixed Meats, and 1 with Lamb). Price was below average for a Sunday roast (£14-16) in my experience. They provide bottomless puddings, potatoes, and gravy. The portions were so big that we didn't need a top up. The atmosphere was pleasant and the pub was fairly packed considering it's kind of out of the way. Only slight negative was the waiting time, we waited approx 35 minutes for our food (which isn't too long) at all. But this was because they were understaffed on the day. Overall 5-stars easily - would recommend!

Met a couple of friends for dinner at The Woodman after not visiting for a while and I have to say, I was really impressed. The 3 course evening deal was amazing value and really tasty. Gemma served us who made us feel very welcome...

Great venue with superb afternoon tea. We were served by Jack who has excellent customer service skills and was extremely attentive. You will not find a better afternoon tea anywhere around the Wallington, Banstead, Carshalton area.
