Beautiful pub, which we've passed on numerous occasions on the way to Box Hill. We decided to stop by for lunch and the atmosphere was extremely welcome, as we sat near the log fire. The menu was varied and the service from the staff was top notch. The food and cocktails were so tasty! We'll be visiting again!

First time here and definitely be back again the roast was superb a lot as well presented beautifully. The staff were lovely and noting was to much.Beautifully decorated as well

I recently visited The Blue Anchor for a Valentine’s meal, and unfortunately, it turned into an embarrassing and frustrating experience. The Valentine’s menu was advertised at £37.95 per person, with an additional £6 per person for a specific cut of beef. My wife didn’t like anything on that menu, so we ordered her a starter (£6) and a lamb main (£20) from the regular menu. I opted for the Valentine’s menu, choosing the beef that was meant to be £6 extra per person. However, at the end of the meal, we were shocked to be charged £160, as they had doubled the Valentine’s menu price, claiming the main was for two people—despite the fact that I only received one starter and one dessert. Nowhere was it made clear that I would be charged double, and the waitress, Teresa, failed to explain this. When I questioned the bill, the manager came over, waving her hands and demanding to know how much I expected to pay, instead of addressing the issue professionally. I understand that the cut of meat might be expensive, but pricing should be clearly stated on the menu and explained by staff—not sprung on customers at the end. It was an embarrassing and disappointing situation. A restaurant should never make customers feel uncomfortable for questioning an unfair charge. I won’t be returning, and I wouldn’t recommend it to others unless you’re willing to risk unexpected charges and poor service.

Not the friendliest of bar staff yesterday, didnt seem happy that we called in for nothing more than a cup of tea but we were allocated a table and having browsed at a menu, my friend and I ended up ordering a lovely meal, a main & dessert! Friendly waitress and food was served quickly, warm and fresh.

Standards seemed to have dipped. Went for some lunch but we were disappointed by the quality of the food. The fish & potatoes seemed to be out of the freezer & not fresh. The vegetables were hard and not tasty. The cake was cold and hard & the chocolate was not of good quality. The price of the meal was not cheap and didn’t seem good value for money. Don’t think we will be returning anytime soon…

We have been to the Blue Anchor several times before and always enjoyed it. It was a natural choice for us as a party to celebrate a family birthday. The food was really good, especially the steak, the service was great too. We will definitely be back!

We stopped at The Blue Anchor yesterday for a late lunch , have a beautiful cooked meal , lovely and hot , very nice dessert. Staff were very friendly and helpful . Very good value for money. Highly recommend.

Visited today for a birthday lunch. Excellent food as usual…Max, our server, was amazing and nothing was too much trouble…he went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect for us. I highly recommend The Blue Anchor, it is consistently excellent with a great menu choice. Such a lovely relaxed feel to this pub with a large car park…if it’s busy, it’s easy to find an adjoining road to park on with a short walk.

me and my boyfriend went for a meal it was very good until half way though my burger i found a long black hair ( neither of us have black hair) i told the waitor and he was very apologetic. they then redid my burger. however when my new burger arrived it was very burnt and rock solid. the waitor came over to check my new burger was okay and i informed him about the burnt burger and again he was very apologetic. we got offered free deserts but where too full ( i had eaten half the original burger and most of the burnt burger) so they gave us the two cocktails i had for free however still charged us for the burger. service was lovely and they where all very apoplectic and polite. i appreciate this can somtimes happen but really does put you off the food.

Admittedly I love this venue but I have to say was extremely dissatisfied with the Christmas Day meal and service. The price was £94.95 ahead which we were happy to pay. Upon arrival the tables were not ready and were asked to stand at the bar till they were. We were paraded on the corner out of the way and at not one point were asked if we would like a drink. Our starters came out which three of us had the scallop and prawn Thermidor for there to be chunks of raw garlic in the sauce, certainly not to their usual standard. Immediately after the starters were cleared out mains were out on the table. Not even enough time to get out of the loo. Again no drinks asked and very rushed. Very disappointed ted at this as Xmas is a time to spend with your family and enjoy your time together. Our whole meal was served and completed within an hour and fifteen minutes . The vegetables were cold and not enough carrots for everyone as the small dishes were for us to share. Puddings were nice but cheese and biscuits were so basic I think a child could’ve done better. When were received rje bill a shocking fifty pounds service charge was included which was never mentioned and especially after the 95 cost for the meal this was awful. Have to say I don’t think we would be having an Xmas there again.

Setting was immaculate, staff friendly and efficient. Food was well presented, tasty and warm.

Had a couple of beers here in a very pleasant atmosphere in the early evening. Visited again early April for a couple of drinks, still really good. Worth a visit! Still good.

A warm welcome to this lovely cosy country pub with lovely tasting food. It was not a busy evening but our group of eight ladies had perfect service from all the staff especially George. Beautifully decorated for the holiday season and such a cosy atmosphere. Great varied menu choices and wine list too. Many thanks again.

Sadly tonight the tone of the staff was shocking, the lady at the bar was extremely rude... we didnt stay for our planned dinner. The grumpy mole 400yards away was friendly and the food was excellent!!

Excellent food and very good service. Spent an enjoyable and leisurely lunch there. Highly recommended. July 2022 - Back again twice in the last month. Continue to be very impressed. We tend to have several starters rather than a main course - that way we get to sample more of the excellent food! I can recommend the scallops, the pepper squid, the duck parfait, and the king prawns. The service as usual was faultless - from the time we came in to the end. Congratulations to Maeve and her colleagues for such a well run operation! October 2024 - Back again for birthday celebration - again excellent food and superb service. This is an extremely well run pub and restaurant!

Lovely little place to eat, we stopped off after a day out at Boxhill Park, great staff & very friendly, nice atmosphere, food was amazing, good selection of drinks, didn’t have enough space for dessert, but hey maybe next time.

Good ambience, allows dogs in the bar and has some dog treats on the side as well as a selection of board games. extensive menu. food was not bad, not amazing. service very very slow. arrived at 7:45 and it took until 9pm to get mains and we only had a pizzette for starter which we ate in seconds (v tasty)

Been going to Blue Anchor Tadworth for 35 years, as a young couple, as a couple with baby and the young son, and now as retired couple with adult son. The food and service has always been excellent at every stage of our life. Great staff and very family friendly, and dog friendly. Love it 👍👍

Staff were lovely and friendly. The menu had a great selection including a variety of options for vegetarians (which weren’t faux meat) which was really appreciated by my mum who often struggles eating out in pubs. She thoroughly enjoyed her vegetarian meal and the rest of the food was great too.

Lovely birthday meal for my wife with the family and dog. Everyone enjoyed the food and a great menu and some different vegetarian options which was nice to see. Good size kids meals especially the kids roast. Great wine and drinks selection, overall a really good experience and would easily recommend and go back.

We visited yesterday 21/08/24 for lunch From start to finish I thought the service was absolutely fantastic. The waitress we had was very friendly and always had a smile on her face, I didn’t catch her name unfortunately but she was amazing! The guys on the bar were super friendly too! I think his name was Max :) always appreciate friendly people! I was very surprised how quickly we got served our food as well, and oh my word, the quality was incredible, I had the sausage mash and green beans, and my grandad the gammon egg and chips, we both agreed it was delicious. Compliments to the chef! I thought the atmosphere of the place was lovely as well and all the staff were very friendly and served with a smile. I’d definitely recommend this place! What a wonderful pub it is, I’d definitely visit again the next time I’m in Tadworth. Well done :)

Started off really well and then once we received our meals, specifically the roast beef, it went down hill fast! The potatoes were greasy, soft and rubbery to cut through, had to order veg at extra cost and then the beef was red, tough, grisly and totally not edible. When you are paying between £19:95 and £21:95 for a meal you expect better. When we complained the manager was defensive, rude and unwilling to offer a discount and point blank refused a refund. I was really looking forward to spending my birthday here, but this whole experience totally ruined. Such a shame that due to the manager’s attitude that I will neither return or recommend The Blue Anchor in Tadworth!

Bought a dish with allergies for my son, they served him the wrong dish, my son came very close to eating the food cooked with the allergens . Managers explanation - "oh the staff that served it isn't allergy trained and has only been here for a short while". Firstly why is he serving the food without the correct risk assessments and secondly what a poor explanation. Could of been much worse had we not caught on. Secondly absolute shambolic staff.

One of the worst roast dinners I've had. The beef was really tough i couldn't eat it and the potatoes were hard and chewy, what's worse is that when we tried to give feedback to the manager she was rude and argumentative. Absolutely never going back nor would I recommend it to anyone.

Really enjoyable dinner for 4. Good service, delicious food - steak and merlot pie, lamb shank, lamb rump, fillet steak - and yummy desserts (especially Sticky Toffee Pudding with ginger ice cream!)

We had the beef duo roast dinner. Probably one of the best roasts I have ever had. Friendly service with attentive staff.

Came for Saturday lunch to try out as we had been to the Dukes head down the road. We tried sitting outside but the seats were so low and not very comfortable so went inside to eat instead. Waiters aftershave a bit over powering but staff very good. Both my partner had a hankering for fish and chips. Not quite as good as the Dukes head but still very nice. Fish did not seem as plump but the batter was lovely and crispy.

Had a take away . Orded beef Sunday lunch . Got 1 small slice of beef . Really poor . Nothing like the last time a few weeks ago .

Lack of staff and obviously because I was a single eater decided that I wasn't worth spending any attention on. Left waiting, and waitress honestly couldnt say if I could have a table. Completely flustered and then got the hump when i asked if there's a table available. Do not go if the sun's shining - they can't cope. I definitely won't be back. So rude.

From booking to entry, all very easy. The service was very good and at no time did we get rushed. The food was excellent both in presentation and taste and piping hot. The offer was very good and so the overall bill was great value even with wine.

Visited The Blue Anchor today from a friend’s recommendation as we had a family member visiting from overseas. We do not live in Tadworth but I’m delighted to say our car journey was worth the trip! Evie, John & Elton Thank you for a brilliant evening and for looking after us so well. The food we had was wonderful. Evie, John & Elton were really helpful and a joy to meet - they made our evening feel special and that was before the yummy food arrived 😁👍

Don't order the seafood linguine. It was probably the most bland dish I have ever eaten in my life. The chorizo was anaemic, there was no taste to the sauce and the linguine was overcooked. However all other meals looked nice. The deserts are also very small for the price.

Delicious food served in a relaxing and welcoming atmosphere. All of my guests commented on how much they enjoyed the food and drinks which were served by your very helpful and friendly staff . Overall a most enjoyable experience, to be repeated!
