Woodcock Inn in Tunbridge Wells

You could say that this is one of our favourite eateries because we were here with friends twice within 5 days, first of all for an evening meal and then for lunch. Both meals were excellent, especially the Sunday Roast Lunch. The food is well presented and tastes delicious. The portion sizes are ample and very good value for money. My wife is Gluten Free but this does not cause any problems. And, on top of all this, the staff are welcoming, friendly and helpful. What more could you want? Can certainly recommend.

What an incredible place. We stumbled across this beautiful place with a log fire burning. We had been out for a long walk and wanted a hearty meal. One of the specials was beef stew. Wow! The service, the food and atmosphere is 5 stars. In fact it was so good, we came back for dinner and spent a wonderful evening getting to know the owner and the charismatic regulars which make this place an absolute must when it comes to a destination pub.

Came here with hubby's friends from childhood at Cranbrook School. They used to come here back in the day, so it was special for them to come back so many years later. Lovely service and a good menu.

cream tea what a rip off 1scone each 2tiny sandwiches each not enough cakes to go round half a glass of wine and a cup of tea how can you have the nerve to charge £30 each it’s not a high class hotel!

Lovely lunch today … waitresses very polite and efficient… had pulled pork burger, linguine, Meze… portions were enormous. The beef stroganoff was in a lovely sauce… only slight criticism was some of the beef was quite chewy and grisly. We would return however

What a fantastic pub. Our first visit to this little gem tucked away in the village of Iden Green. The welcome was warm on arrival and we were offered a choice of inside or outside tables. We were served by Chloe who was absolutely lovely and gave great service throughout the evening. One of our party required a gluten free menu and was informed that if there wasn’t anything on the normal menu they liked, the chef would be able to cook something else to order. What more could you ask. The food was the best any of us have eaten in a very long time. Real quality and beautifully tasty. Thank you team, you gave us a great experience.

After a horrendous journey from Hampshire to Kent, we were looking for a decent pub where we could chill out and have a nice meal. We loved everything about the Wood cock Inn - friendly and efficient staff, a warm and welcoming atmosphere, high standard of cleanliness and delicious food from an interesting menu. Our Border Collie was well looked after with fresh water and treats. Sadly, I couldn't find room for the delicious looking desserts. We will definitely be returning next time we are this area.

What an utter treat it is to eat at The Woodcock Inn! From the fantastic greeting from all staff, on arrival, through to the freshly cooked fabulous food; this is somewhere you really must go, whether it's for brunch or dinner. I have eaten here before, on my own, and received such a warm welcome and scrumptious supper that I wanted to bring my friend so they could see what I was talking about. The good selection of wines and beers (some locally sourced) just adds an even more delightful element to your visit. The Woodcock Inn have a menu that is never static and specials that follow the seasons. The chefs really take time to work out what even the most discerning of customers would like. And if it is not on the menu or you have a special dietary requirement just make the staff aware and they will try their very best to cater for your needs. Dogs are welcome and get the same greeting as us humans. There is water a plenty and a treat to hand so they don't feel left out. I will definitely return to again and again!

The Woodcock Inn has undergone a tasteful extension to the rear of the property. I've known this inn for the last 25years and the latest changes have significantly improved the facilities. We had lunch there today with some of our old neighbours that live in Iden Green. The restaurant is a mixture of pub grub and gastropub food. It was busy with many customers but both the waiting staff and kitchen struggled. Customers did not receive enough attention and food was slow to come from the kitchen. The food we had was good but we all agreed that the serving of skinny french fries instead of chunky chips was a mistake. Two of us had the ham, egg and chips and the other two had chicken gyro. Ham was very good both in terms of amount and quality, eggs were over cooked (not enough care in the kitchen) and the chips needed to be chunky. The chicken gyro was a hit with both our ladies but again let down by the chips. So our score was 10 out of 10 for ambiance and surroundings, 8 out of 10 for the food but only 6 out of 10 for service. There were not enough waiting staff and kitchen staff need to up their game.

My wife and I came here for dinner and were very impressed. Service, food and ambience were all excellent. They have done a fantastic job upgrading this old favourite and it is now undoubtedly one of the best pubs in the area. Highly recommend.

The food (fish and chips) was excellently cooked, and the staff were all very friendly and attentive, providing a very good service. There was a really positive vibe within the pub. I will be returning soon.

The Woodcock Inn was recommended to us by our holiday cottage owners and they were right in every way. After a few drinks in the peaceful beer garden on the Monday evening we went back for dinner on the Wednesday evening and had a wonderful experience. After a very warm welcome to us and our dog we enjoyed a delicious dinner, every dish well presented, not oversized and very tasteful. We enjoyed it so much that we went back again for dinner on the Friday to celebrate our last evening of our holiday. Whilst we chose different dishes than the time before the experience was equally delightful. Lin-Dora and her team extend a very warm welcome to their guests and especially the dogs, providing dog beds, biscuits and water. The fantastic food is accompanied by attentive, friendly and competent service. We only wish we lived closer so that we could make it our local.

The meal was very basic but watch out - we were overcharged on our bill for 2 items. When speaking to people we know locally the pub are notorious for adding on items and overcharging customs. The landlady was really rude and brash.

We were staying nearby so sampled the Woodcock Inn’s fare 3 times. Sunday lunch was excellent with large portions ( we had a small takeaway even on the ‘child’ size) and all good quality. The jam sponge and custard topped it off nicely. The evening menu has a good variety plus a couple of specials. The duck special, in particular, was really tasty but the chicken Caesar salad and sea bass were also delicious as were the chocolate fudge cake and cheesecake desserts. The welcome was friendly on all three visits, with efficient service. In all, definitely recommended!

Found the Woodcock whilst searching the area for last minute Sunday lunch. Phoned to book and a lovely helpful girl called Rachael booked us a table. I explained we had 2 elderly (one was recently 100!) ladies and we were accommodated near the door with easy access. I had a lovely pint of Long blonde ale and the ladies had a nice wine and local gin & tonic. Rachael helpfully explained that the children’s roast would suffice for the older ladies smaller appetites and she was right! I’ve seen smaller main roasts! My sister had roast Turkey and I opted for the mixed roast and WOW! No less than 3 slices EACH of pork, Turkey and beef..with beautiful garlic roasted potatoes, loads of fresh veg, cauliflower cheese, crackling, stuffing, pigs in blankets and tons of gravy! All topped by the biggest Yorkie I’ve ever seen! All high quality produce and I gather locally sourced. We were all eventually beaten by the quantity and what we couldn’t eat the staff helpfully boxed up to take away. Only able to share one sticky toffee with custard and an ice cream after that but they were also excellent. The bill for 4 of us, 4 lunches, 2 desserts and 6 drinks came to only £27 per head too! The pub has been restored beautifully, the garden is sheltered and sunny with beautiful flowers and the whole place was lovely, atmospheric and welcoming. Rachael and the rest of the staff were fabulous and the landlady came over for a nice chat & gave our 100 year old lady a nice bunch of flowers to take away. It made her day All in all a simply splendid visit and we will be back for sure

For various reasons we ate here on 3 occasions recently. Cannot fault the food, very delicious, and the staff are very friendly and efficient. But, as stated before, when full in the evenng, this is a very noisy restaurant and much better at lunch time. Not sure what can be done about it -possibly some soft furnishings to absorb the sound?
