Wimpy in Broxbourne

We went out of curiosity as neither of us had been to a Wimpy for decades. As others have said "Great food, great service and very clean". Hamburgers, Brown Derby's, Ice cream shakes.....it was like going back to the 70's but without the flares! We will definitely return again soon

Friendly staff, comfortable dining area which is always kept very clean. Freshly cooked tasty food.

Have visited this wimpy several times for simple lunches or after pre-school ice cream treats. Service and food is always great! Restaurant is clean and comfortable and all round a fantastic place to bring kids.

I've been coming here for 3 years, sometimes eating in and lots of takeaways. Staff are great and the food is always really good - big portions and tastes so good. Cannot fault it!

I think this restaurant has now relocated to a new address...however it's fab. Clean, tasty food, great staff. Can't beat a Wimpy!

Our favourite spot for a vegan burger. Staff are always so welcoming and friendly. Always brilliant vegetarian options. The place is always spotlessly clean. If you have 90s kid wimpy nostalgia like I did, check it out, I’m sure it will become a favourite spot

As always the food was delicious and hot and a nice experience. This time the staff went the extra mile to make my mum feel welcome as it was her 1st time leaving the house since March 2020 and her birthday. Thank you so much for all your efforts - we all enjoyed ourselves and mum loved her birthday ice cream. A fantastic 1st trip out.

Ordered the bacon cheese burger deluxe very tasty and hit the spot. Prices have changed since it was sold and refurbished.

As we couldn't dine in we got a takeaway to eat back home. Very well organised. Super friendly staff. Food cooked to perfection. Lovely hot coffee! Was a lovely treat. Cannot wait until they can open properly again. 5 stars all the way!!!

We were served as soon as we entered the place, i was amazed with the level of hygiene by far the best I've ever seen, the staff were very friendly and helped me with my order. The food came quick and was delicious and I’m a fussy eater, will definitely travel to this restaurant again.

Decided to rate this restaurant as we come every week and they deserve a review for consistent quality and service. Had a recent refurb and the place is very clean and modern, booths for families, tv, window seats and seats for single diners, food and drinks prepared openly in the centre. Greeted straight away and menu provided even when busy, food served very quickly on proper plates, familiar favourites with nothing too weird and wonderful, generous portions, specialises in burgers but there is loads on the menu including for kids, my child says its their favourite place to eat and does ‘the best’ thick milkshakes. Eat in or take away. Modern yet also nicely old fashioned dining experience that will give you a warm glow.

In the late 60s and early 70s Wimpy Bars were ubiquitous in Britain and Ireland. The classic table service diner never quite disappeared in parts of England, but a tired decor is being replaced with an up to date and attractive look reminiscent of Wimpy’s better days. Cheshunt hits the mark. I had freshly made and tasty burger and chips, and next time I hope to give their classic desserts like the Brown Derby a try. Friendly service and reasonable prices should make this a winner.

Great food very clean and recently refurbished and modernised. The owners are a very warm and friendly couple. They only want to please you. The service and menu is excellent for all types of pallet. Recommend it. We go there very often as it such a great to be there

We come here very often with my family ... food can be a bit dry especially the burger bun. Service is good and place is very clean. The children enjoy it... think the burger buns needs to be changed

Went here just after 9pm at night to sit in with family , place was lovely and bright very clean , staff were amazing so friendly and helpful , the food was the best we have had in a long time, we were all supper full and the cost for 4 drinks and 4 meals £35 so reasonable parking outside

Thought I’d come here to relive my youth. Decor is fantastic and certainly attracts you to step inside. Staff were friendly and service was great, all tables and floor were clean,hence more than one star. Unfortunately the food is awful, meat tastes very artificial, sweet potato fries were greasy and tasteless. Milkshakes are awful tasting as just tastes like cheap soft whip ice cream. Wasn’t cheap either as costs were about the same as your average 5 guys visit, but quality of ingredients were nowhere near as good. The buyer should perhaps sample Burger King, 5 guys, GBK and rethink their supplier or I can see them coming to the end of their road.

For people of my generation (1960s) there's something very endearing about going to a Wimpy. I guess nostalgia tastes good in theory however, reality can often leave an unpleasant taste in one's mouth.

Came here for the first time for about a decade, refurb looks good. Seating area very comfy and friendly attentive staff. Had breakfast was warm well cooked and delicious. Definitely will come back, recommended.

1st visit to a Wimpy in years, and I have to say, was pleasantly surprised.

Just been refurbished think I prefer the old style but still my favourite.....seats are comfortable but seems smaller.

Passed by restaurant today(19/4/2019) and it has re-opened with notice on front welcome after our full refurbishment.Did not stop but will be going now we know it`s open again and will write an updated review.

Went here today to see what the refurb was like. Well, absolutely fantastic. Didn't recognize the place. Looks amazing. Very comfortable seating. Staff were so polite and friendly. The food was still superb quality. I love this place.

Shame,the new owners do not seem to have lasted long.Passed by today and it was all shuttered up and closed. We used to like the retro blast of a good Wimpy.

Went there with friends that I've not seen for a few. The food was absolutely disgusting. The chips was over cooked. Asked for a glass of water. And it came with a dead Ant floating around in the glass. I told the waiter and a young girl came over and she said i don't know how that happened !! REALLY. I couldn't even eat the rest of my food. Because of the standard of service in was receiving. DON'T KNOW WHAT YOUR EATEING ! ITS OVER PRICED. POOR QUALITY SERVICE. AND FOOD. Staff had faces long a a kite and Rude.

This Wimpy has been part of my childhood and my grown up kids and we still use it now. What's not to love. Great helpful friendly staff, extensive menu, and beautiful freshly cooked tasty honest food!!! Something for everyone!!!! Long may it continue!!!!

Used to eat here many years ago. Popped in and was amazed how it looked just the same. Food was as I remember, very tasty and freshly cooked. Just can’t beat that wimpy taste, will definitely pop back when in the area.

Love it love it love it ! We went for my father in laws 85th birthday. Very nice people. Great food. Brown Derby made me feel 12 again. That’s years old not size 12. Have visited several times since.

We have been going to the Wimpy in Cheshunt for so long that they knew exactly what my mum would have as she always forgot. Imagine our surprise when we saw new people in there! But reassured they looked after us just as well. Fantastic place to eat.

Well having just been swimming and figuring there must be something good about this Wimpy for it to have survived all these years .How wrong was I. The old woman on the counter was unbelievably rude. And her husband just pottered about the restaurant like manuel from fawlty towers .I could not believe her attitude like she was doing you an enormous favour by serving you .To be frank if it wasnt for the fact of having starving kids we would have walked out. The chips were rubbery and tastless and the burgers and nuggets nothing to write home about.

I had told my other half that we should go to the Wimpy near where we live so we can taste a slice of the past.

My husband and I popped into the Cheshunt wimpy for a bite to eat after house hunting in the area. We found the woman in there so disgustingly rude we would definitely not go back there even if the food was free.

Excellent Wimpy! To those who say it has to modernise, it shouldn't. They're rare, and a nostalgia trip to those who remember the days before the onslaught of the MCD's and BK's. Only wish I'd worn my shellsuit to complete the look.

After driving by my local Wimpy I thought I'd pop in with the Mrs for lunch, I recall the food of being good. I haven't been to a Wimpy for over 20 years. We ordered a burger each with fries and a drink. I found the burgers to be really tasty and loved the yellow burger sauce. This restaurant hasn't changed in many years and it brought back some good old memories. We will be eating here again, the service was friendly and the food was cooked fresh and promptly.

Amazed to find a Wimpy and just had to go in. Everything is the same, seating, menus, cooking facilities. Pretty much the same lay out in all the old Wimpys.

McDonald's eat your heart out. You will NEVER beat a Wimpy Bar. Freshly prepared, cooked food and value for money

This Wimpy is amazing, still has all the traditional tables and chairs, plates and menus. The owner and his staff are very friendly and nothing is too much for them. It was so good to enjoy the old fashioned Wimpy as opposed to all the other take-aways, (i always thought that the Wimpy tasted best) the food is cooked in front of you and is hot, fresh and tasty. I would certainly recommend a visit, if only for nostalgia's sake, but i think that it would not be your last visit!!

One of my friends told me that Wimpy is great, so i said let's go and give a try.Oh...such a bad experience! Everything was so oily, the quality of food is really low and the service too.So dissapointed...

I use the Wimpey now and again, have always found it very good to eat in or take away. Great service from people who have been there for years, also they are very friendly. I reccommend the Wimpey.

Went here for a quick bite and on the whole all was good. The kids meals came first and then our burgers. Both cooked well and reminded me of the 80s with the big sausage in the middle.

This wimpy has had the same owners since I can remember, and the standards haven't even slightly dropped. There milkshakes are amazing, and the food is phenomenal. This is one place that can't let you down (order the secret sauce)

This family has run this place for at least 30 years and they care about its success. McD can't hold a candle to here so it is worth going the extra couple of miles. Recommended

A typical 1980s Wimpy with very cramped seating. You can cause grid lock if you have a push chair or need a high chair!! However, good service. A summary would be a dated and a bit run down cafe but better than a local greasy spoon. If you order anything with an egg don't be surprised if you can't find it!! They use the absolute smallest eggs available. When it comes to paying the bill BEWARE - this is a CASH ONLY establishment. Certainly time warp to the 1970s. Would I use this establishment again? No not really but I do use other Wimpy outlets which are nearly into this century.

Have been coming here since birth almost 40 years ago when my parents took us regularly, always a treat, always the same family serving, always same great taste. Can not beat it, a little slice of my childhood back every time I go. My favourite is a Wimpy Classic kingsize and chips with a bender on the side.

The food was typical Wimpy fare. Enjoyable, hot, fast service. And the server remembered 5 large orders in his head, not needing to write anything down.

My whole family love a visit to this Wimpy. Friendly service and fresh, tasty food - served on real plates, with real cutlery!

Wimpy been one of my favourites since I was a teenager !!! Still love the Quarterpounder with the Thousand Island style dressing.........Brings back such great memories !

Really like this place. The manager Andy is a really nice guy and always looks after me. The place is clean, the food comes quickly and is really tasty and leaves you feeling full. Always come here when I come to Cheshunt. Top marks for this place.

What can I say, nice place, same family been running it since I used to go as a kid. Friendly and the food is nice for a treat once in a while. Wimpy is the healthy option to fast food - in my opinion :)

Amazing food and great service. You can't beat a wimpy for a quarter pounder and chips. Not many wimpy left but I will always recommend this wimpy.

My family and I have been coming here in almost 40 years. Same management all these years. Wouldn't go any other place and we I like the Wimpy special grill with extra pork blender. Always well kept clean surroundings.

Went into this Wimpy by accident, we had intended to eat across the road at Lavas but when we arrived found that it was closed due to a fire.We were very hungry so upon seeing the Wimpy decided to give it a try.I First went into a Wimpy as a child in the late 1950`s before the onslaught of all the other fast food and burger places and a Wimpy was seen as a slice of America.This Wimpey was like stepping into the 50/60`s with it`s retro styling theme of red,orange and white.It was scrupulously clean and not being very busy we easily found a table. As soon as we were seated a young man appeared and asked if we would like drinks while we decided what to eat. We chose to share a large banana milkshake, it was delicious.I had the "International" and my companion had the haddock salad.The portions were very generous and cooked well and very tasty. The only fault was that the coleslaw with the salad was frozen,obviously kept too high in the fridge.Whilst we were there it was never very busy but there was a continual throughput of clientele of all ages. Overall we had a very pleasant experience and would certainly go again.
