Often very crowded so service can be slow although food is good Fish sold out early on fish friday😡 Extremely loud at busy times so very difficult to hold a conversation

We visited the Rye House after our weekly ramble thru the countryside nearby, 10 of us stopped for food and drinks and were not disappointed. As it was a cold and wet day the staff were friendly and accommodating and sat us near to the fire to warm up. The pub was busy and had a great atmosphere. This place is a gem of a pub located on the river and I could imagine gets lots of customers . Will definitely return again soon.. I personally would just like to thank all the staff for a lovely afternoon and most importantly to the manager Andy for taking the time to ask us about our day.. 5 STARS

Visited the Rye House Pub to watch a couple of games of football. Very friendly and welcoming atmosphere with plenty of screens to see the games. I ordered a build a burger and found it to very nice. The staff were friendly and helpful I will definitely be visiting again.

Lovely pub along the river we pop in after a walk along the river for a bite to eat and a drink. The food was great value for money and a good selection of real ales. Had a good afternoon also stayed for the football. The staff and the manager was very friendly will definitely be coming back

Whetherspoon type pub, but without the annoying, loud mouthed drunks. Great after a long walk by the river or RSPB nearby.

Always seem to run out of food offered on the menu. This has happened to me 3 times in the last couple of months.

So I went here today with my children and 3 other family members 6 people in total me and my sister ordered separately but within seconds of each other but her food turned up around 30 minutes later and mine came over 30 minutes later they had no stakes and also I only ordered a children’s pasta and chicken stripes and chip twice and it wasn’t worth it my children meal was past with a watery sauce no taste absolutely nasty and no more then 6 chips and half looked battered ! Chicken was bland had no taste at all and chips was less then a handful for a adult meal so not only did I wait for a hour but the food was absolutely not worth the money at all and was nasty I wouldn’t go here again waste of money To update this review it’s now 22:21 and my son has diarrhoea and vomiting

It's a tough one to give 5 stars to. The staff have always with one exception been great. But the arrogance and rudeness of one male individual ruined it. The food is . . . .Well mostly good for pub grub, but can vary between ok and not acceptable at rare times. I guess different staffing levels create issues. I'm sorry to down grade you guys, and girls. But these little issues should be noticed and dealt with. After all, it's my money you want.

The food is very delicious! Even better that it was £5 for a burger on Wednesdays. Pleasantly surprised to see that toppings available were free to add on. Great atmosphere and very friendly staff

Probably the worst experience I have ever had when it comes to restaurants/pubs! If I could, I would have given it 0 stars. Most unwelcoming and unfriendly staff. The restaurant was not more than 25% of it’s capacity and yet one of the first things the staff at the bar told me was that I need to wait for “at least” hour and a half for my food. On my question if this is for real, the guy told me that around 200-300£ of food has already been ordered as if this was some kind of extraordinary amount of food. I was left with the impression I was not welcome there. All the locals inside were being served and all the people that were visiting the place because of the race track or any other reasons were being told off (indirectly)! Shame because the place seems to have a really nice outdoor space.

Only popped in goe a quick drink, staff were very friendly, and although I didn't have anything to eat, there was a reasonable menu, and the food we saw coming up looked good

Great little place with a fab garden, nice views of river and surrounding area, cheap as chips would recommend in a flash, friendly staff, great service, did not have food but it looked good.

Ordered two portions of chips and waited forever for them to arrive,. When we asked the staff member why, she said that they were busy and everyone was waiting a long time. However, we were the only ones waiting for food, so not sure what she was talking about.

Always over an hour, wait for food and silly rules as where you can eat in the garden. Shame as a nice garden and next to the canal.

Went back again to one of my favourite pubs. The staff are very friendly, the pub has "atmosphere", a bit Olde Worlde, and it has lots of outside seating and a nice view of the river. Food and drink are excellent and reasonably priced - especially the OAP menu - though food can take a while to arrive, and they often run out of menu items.

Only stopped for a cup of tea in the rain. Sat outside by the river with the heaters on watching the birds at the feeder

Service is quite bad with rude waiters not welcoming. Absolutely 0 flexibility and feeling like dealing with robots which cannot adjust anything to any guests. Manager seems not willing to hi extra miles for any of their guests. They ran out of Sunday roast item and decline to replace the dish with another one so no deal possible. Don’t think the manager knows how to run a pub at all which is a shame as place is lovely and could be such a great place

This pub is in a great location and one of very few in the area that have a play area in the garden, however the biggest issue is the constant issues with serving food. 18:30 on a Wednesday, pub not busy at all but no long taking orders due to kitchen being busy. This happens only a weekly basis, and long waits (over 1 hour) are not unheard of even when the pub isn’t that busy. We tried to order a sharing platter a few weeks ago and was told they can’t make it as it used all of the cooking areas and stops them getting other orders out. For such a large pub in a great area they really need to invest in a bigger kitchen and more staff.

Lovely experience at this pub. The staff was fantastic, proper English pub food, good value for money, we loved it! I would just say they should hire more staff, the pub was really busy (I'm not surprised) and the staff were rushing around, but we didn't mind the wait, it was worth it!

I was passing through this place but I was very disappointed, children playing with the ball in the garden where I drink 2 beers, very annoying the ball that continuously arrived on the table, to have a beer I had to wait 20 minutes because in this place there is no staff, the place full and there were only 2 people to serve at the counter, The dirty tables outside full of glasses

Food was below par in here. The locals seem to frown at everyone and bowl around like they are friends with Al Capone… in hoddeston! Bar staff are quite slow to serve so would take that into account of going in for drinks.

Lovely location. Nice friendly staff. We went on a hot sunny Sunday so it was busy but we had prebooked. Still the food took 2 hours. Food quality was OK. Nothing special. Nice enough pub. Greener King. Beer selection OK. Prices very good for both food and drink.

Poor level of staff, absolutely zero ability to work when there more than one person at the bar, couldn't run a kids party. Must be hiring the dregs of society to work in this pub.......

Our local pub and restaurant located next to the river. Good for Sports fans with TVs located inside. Outside seating with gazebos with heating.

Terrible service and rude bar staff. Stood in line for over 15 minutes to just be ignored and my order not to be taken. Food was over a 2 hour wait. Overall, I do not recommended

Fantastic pub, massive beer garden, great prices, great selection of food and drink, and the staff were so friendly and helpful. I had a great time. I've been back and the food is just as delicious and the staff are absolutely marvellous....efficient, extra helpful, and really friendly. It made me feel so relaxed and at home!

We meet at a different pub for a family get-together dinner every Wednesday. I must say this is my favourite pub. The food, service, and prices help, but the pub also has a great atmosphere and a homely feel.

Beautiful pub with lovely garden. Came in just after 2 on a Wednesday afternoon. Ladies behind the bar were friendly and helpful. We wanted to order the ultimate sharer but were told the chef said no as he was too busy but we were able to order the items from sharer separately, thought this was odd however food was lovely and we very much look forward to popping in again hopefully at a less busy time

The staff were very welcoming and helpful. Our lunch was one of the best meals I have had out in a long time, nothing was left on the plates, the gammon was delicious. We left feeling very full. One happy dog who had treats and water. The pub was clean and the tables were cleared as soon as they were able to do so. We will definitely go back.

Been here many times, it is a nice old-fashioned, comfortable pub, with a great atmosphere, friendly helpful staff, big choice of drinks, and enormous choice of excellent food. It also has a very big car park. The food takes a while to arrive when they are busy, and they do tend to run out of things, but the quality and reasonable prices of the food more than make up for it.

Got very busy very quick was great day nice staff

We had a bit of a wait at a busy lunch time on a weekend but the food was great when it arrived and the pub itself was very nice. Good outdoor play area for the kids though parts of it are a bit scruffy we would absolutely come again though.

Went in on a Friday evening, and even though it was busy staff was still polite an food was delicious. I had steak an chips with a side of chicken wings an it was all cooked to perfection. Even better that it's dog friendly, outside seating looked lovely with all the lights on at night time.

Despite the pub's potential for excellent customer service, the servers were rude and failed to create a welcoming atmosphere, leaving it feeling more like an unkempt and unwelcoming establishment. It’s shame since the garden and the location was absolutely beautiful. I shared feedback concerning both the wine quality and the room temperature issue with the served white wine. Regrettably, the staff exhibited a lackluster response, failing to address the concerns adequately. The quality of the food was subpar, bordering on barely edible, highlighting a lack of seriousness and commitment from the team toward providing satisfactory service.

Another brilliant Christmas Day had in here. Had dinner and once again was excellent. Staff worked really hard to make it a great day and meal. Would definitely recommend. Cheers all

Nice staff, nice selection of drinks (we shared a bottle of Rioja) and it was nice that the staff suggested buying a bottle as it was cheaper than getting 2 large glasses as planned. Plenty of seating and different types of seats available too I.e benches, arm chairs, and wooden chairs

Visited the Rye House Pub twice recently. Both times for lunch. Great food, reasonable priced, beautiful setting with a lovely garden and friendly, welcoming, attentive staff.

Lovely pub, been going here for years. Nice staff, fair service, and delicious, good quality, and quite reasonably-priced food. Disappointing that the last twice I've been here they have run out of some menu items quite early on. I suggest before you decide what you want to eat, first ask what is available. Also, order your dessert at the same time as your mains, or when you go back to order it you might find that they have run out of what you'd like.

Good dog friendly pub ,took our dog there staff were fine met a few friends there ,no food option ,don't know why maybe cause of very hot weather and kitchen too hot to work in although mate asked if food was available to be told there was a gas leak ????????,asked if we could get some food delivered we were told no so no food.

Beautiful setting by the river with a well cared for garden. Busy but service is always good and the prices are the best around. Great for the kids, dog friendly and always got some sport on.

What a star setting. Next to the river, a lovely old building which manages the subtle combination of history with modern touches with the outside TV. Great food, cooked and served quickly and in a fab location. We will back! Thanks, Andy.

Lovely pub on the canal with bags of character and friendly staff. The food is excellent in quality and price and it has a great selection of beers. We will revisit in summer to get the most out of the lovely beer garden.

This is one of my favourite pubs. It is friendly, has lovely ales, excellent meals at fantastic prices, and a big free car park. The road outside is barely wide enough for 2 cars to pass, the road is a toll road, currently one end of the road is closed off, there is a sewage works virtually next door, and the service in the pub is quite slow. But I've been returning to this pub time and time again, and not been disappointed; whatever else it lacks, the friendliness, food quality, and in particular the food prices, make it all worth while.
