Wimpy in Maidstone

I'm giving this review whilst the restaurant is closed (22.9.24). . . How long will the place be closed for, as it seems to be forever this particular Wimpy has been shut due to refurbishment. . . . . Please open soon, as not everyone likes a MaccyD or other burgers. Some of us miss the spicy bean burger and other items on your menu. . . .

Overpriced sub standard food I will never never never go into a wimpy again. I left feeling cheated this place is empty for a reason.

Food is good for the price and staff was friendly.

First of all I want to preface this by saying the employees here are lovely and do a fantastic job. My issue is with the company, the quality of products issued for said staff to prepare, as well as the warped perception the company has of value for money. We ordered: 2 cheeseburgers which tasted like they were frozen cheap patties from Iceland. A quorn chicken burger (not bad but basic) A sausage and egg muffin (also actually not bad) 3 portions of chips which were basic frozen fries and not a huge amount. Less the half the plate. Onion rings which tastes like big standard frozen mass produced ones from a cash and carry. 4 x fizzy drinks which tasted watery. SIXTY EIGHT POUNDS. What has the world come to? Again, can’t fault the service or the cooking of the ingredients - but the food was basic frozen rubbish from the 70s and is priced as if it’s a steakhouse. Madness. Won’t be coming again.

Foods nice, staff are lovely, still quite dated which I don't mind much.

Was so sad to see this place nearly empty. The only reason I have given 4 stars for the food is because they didn't have most of the desserts. But what they did have was lovely and was a nice meal that wasn't too expensive. Will definitely return

Cannot believe Wimpy is still around!! Went with family and it was nostalgic - just how I remembered.

Very enjoyable and very helpful and pleasant staff.

Good food cooked fresh whilst you wait, decor in desperate need of renovation along with seating, feels like it hasn't changed for more than 30 + years, however staff are great and burgers are very tasty, slightly more expensive than alternative competition but if they spent money on the inside I feel it would help justify the cost.

Expensive and vertically No coffee in the cup of coffee .It was like warm milk ....

Hi went in here the other day for something to eat haven't been in a Wimpy for a few years not as good as it used to be and just as expensive as the rest of them?

Always love a Wimpy! One gripe is that the food is always put on cold plates... if you dont eat the food in 5 minutes its COLD !!

Poor services, food order was wrong, lack of staff

Not very happy with my order, there was a lot of food contamination happening whilst I was at the restaurant with food such as Raw meet being touched and not washing hands and then touching fridge doors and handling someone else’s chips. We raised the concern with the manager and nothing was really done about it. The food wasn’t very enjoyable and the chips were very hard. I will not be coming back here again and I don’t recommend anyone else to. Sounds like a job for environmental health

I have just discovered that Not all Wimpy restaurants are the same. The food is always excellent, however, the branch in Maidstone wins the prize for having the atmosphere of a library! Note to students in Maidstone!

First time at wimpy for many years. Was very impressed. Place was clean and tidy, staff were very friendly. Food was fresh and the price for kids meals were very reasonable for what was included. Will definately be bringing the kiddies back again

Chips disgusting much to expensive for what you get restrictions on who can order from kid's menu. Do not recommend.

Was a great lunch, everything tasted great. Milkshakes could be less frothy for my taste but where nice. Staff are great, friendly and very attentive. Reminded me of childhood lunches with parents.

Reasonable price for well cooked, good quality food. Staff are always friendly and helpful and the restaurants always clean and tidy. The food is always cooked fresh and comes quickly.

Love this place, especially because they are so family friendly. Here I don't have to worry about being judged because of my children are talking loudly or running around a little. Food is nice and the prices are reasonable.

Great customer service and overall friendly staff

Having very fond memories of Wimpy as a child I have visited a couple over recent years and found them to be lacking. I pooped into this branch and the staff were friendly and the restaurant clean if not feeling a bit run down and dated. The quality of food and drink in my opinion just doesn't represent the price Wimpy now charge. This is not a negative review of this specific branch but I walked out feeling like I had just been robbed!

Great staff! Always so welcoming and can never do enough for you. The lovely cook who has been there for as long as I can remember is a really nice person. The main man that serves is great with the kids and is always happy to help or stop and have a chat. Food is great! Tasty and hot everytime. Without fail. We love going there with the family.

Ordered all day breakfast bacon and egg muffin and drinks. Food looked fine and after eating 2/3of all day breakfast found a greyish blue item under the chips. Bought this to the attention of the person serving behind the till asking if he could give some clue as to what it was as certainly not part of the breakfast. He proceed to pull the item apart saying would have to send to wimpy head office for analysing. We asked for our money back for meal he said no continuing to gaze at thr rogue item and said we would have to wait for the results!!! Any normal Company would apologise but there was none of that at all. We walked out leaving the rest of our meal. Shocking customer service terrible attatude.

A Dog friendly restaurant earns it an extra Star. A trip to Wimpy was always a treat as a child, before the popularity and domination of McDonald's. I have always been a fan of Wimpy food, especially their Burgers and this place doesn't disappoint. The Restaurant itself is looking a little tired, however, the Staff are friendly and helpful. It was lovely to revisit my childhood, sadly a lot of that magic has been lost.

A* service from all workers today at Wimpy, never been so excited to sit down inside and eat it felt like a 5* restaurant i was that excited 😂 Really good deals on at the minute and the service was run great even with the new covid rules, really hope they stay open as i’m excited to return again soon.

Well..hadn't been in this wimpy for about 4 years,certainly hasn't changed in the quality of food and decor.. looks really tired and worn out,I went to the check out to order our meals,the gentlemen decided that answering his mobile phone was more important than me..ummm...the meals themselves were typical wimp,cheap quality and greasy,t the overall quality was rubbish...the music was too loud had to ask 3 times for it to be turned down...expensive for what it was

Very expensive for what you get. Food is OK, but nothing special. The guy waiting tables was great though, very friendly and attentive.

Walked in with my family for lunch, was told we all needed to wear our masks and check in on the NHS COVID-19 app and I had to wear my mask before heading to a table. The next customers who were behind us didn’t have to wear masks. When I challenged the waiter why the other customers didn’t have to wear a mask, the response I got was “I dont know as I didn’t speak to them”. Ok, this was fine (better to be safe than sorry, I guess) but to be laughed at by the other 2 lady members of staff, (cook and waitress) was uncalled for. Therefore decided to leave. Not sure if you can call this discriminatory or something else but we didn’t feel welcome at this establishment so went somewhere else friendlier instead.

Great food. Manage to get a special ice cream called doughnut Surprise. This is the only place we managers to get this in all of the cafes etc in Maidstone.

I like getting their food on deliveroo. It's nono thrills and not flash but the food is consistently good and satisfying. You don't feelfl hungry after eating it. Chips are decent too. I recommend.

I've always adored a Wimpy... it's not really in the same league as McDonald's & Burger King, it sits in it's own niche & I love it for that.. the staff are always friendly & nothing is ever too much.. Wimpy reminds me alot of my childhood, when we'd drop into a "Happy Chef", when they existed... I guess the best way to describe it is; Honest food, for an honest price 👍🏼

Haven't been to a Wimpy in years. Now I know why. The burger was awful! Looked, tasted, and smelt like really cheap meat. One bite was enough. Really disappointed.

Food is usually good, but hey guys you need to sort out those toilets. Staff sometimes a little slow but freindly enough, generally good and fast service.

We were told to sit where ever. Then after 15mins we ordered. The server didn't understand the menu then copied what it said. Came back a minute later. Then said some items were not available. Went again came back asked if we wanted dessert at the same time as dinner, obviously not. Another server then asked what we wanted, then the first one came back asking about what we ordered. Eventually the food arrived and was very nice. No cutlery given, then arrived later. Staff were very confused, no communication.food was very nice but late and took a long time to get the order correct.

Milkshake tasted off. Coke was flat. Toilets were disgusting and pipes were all leaking. Puddles of water on the floor. No baby change unit. Overpriced and awful. Would not recommend.

Tried the cod and chips, food is nice very clean definitely better than McDonald's junk only downside found it expensive just short of a £10 with drink,still will go back and try other items on the menu good quality food..this review is for Sittingbourne outlet..

Every time we visit, we are never let down. Its cheap, yummy, decent sized, and the staff are always happy to help. We always tend to go for a Quorn option as im a veggie, and its always delicious. I have tried to replicate this taste at home, but its just so much better in Wimpy. Ill always come back.

Absoluty disgusting. I rarely leave poor reviews but this place was horrendous.

Great value and good service, don't know why it is not busier, my kids prefer this to Mac and BK. Sitting down with a knife and fork with food on a plate beats eating with fingers of paper.
