The Muggleton Inn - J D Wetherspoon in Maidstone

Had gammon egg and chips cooked well some of it cold .could do with more chips condiment bottles empty .staff rude and abrupt .if asked anything .. Took cups off table while still eating so had to go and ask for them back as refills .did not go down well . Asked if allowed more soya sauce with chicken said she would go and get it. did not return . asked second waitress said needed to be paid for which is fair but at least say so dont just not return Staff obviously busy and had really bad attitude

What's not to like, cheap and cheerful and friendly staff

I recently visited The Muggleton Inn in Maidstone for breakfast, and it was an excellent experience. The food was delicious and well-prepared, exactly what I was hoping for to start my day. The standout part of the visit was the service provided by Alex, who brought our food. She was professional, polite, and incredibly helpful throughout the meal, ensuring we had everything we needed. Her friendly demeanor really added to the positive atmosphere. I highly recommend The Muggleton Inn for a great breakfast and exceptional service.

I normally like Wetherspoons but this one has a small, poorly ventilated garden - we left before ordering due to lots of people smoking. With the small space and children around smoking shouldn't be permitted.

I had the sticky Korean chicken bowl and wow really tasty!, I would have preferred sticky rice over chips but the sauce and spicyness was just so good I hope this becomes a regular on the menu

One of the largest and busiest wetherspoons i have been too, we popped in for a light lunch and was happy

Evermore popular great pub, extensive menu, wide range of drinks, reasonable prices, bottomless tea coffee chocolate for £1 56, tasty well cooked food. Nice clean facilities.

I've been mistreated and verbal abuse by manager of THIS PLACE. Very poor manners close to none. Avoid place at any means. Out of words first and last time there

It's wetherspoons. You know what you're getting. How the staff stay as cheerful as they do beats me

Absolutely wonderful. Nice owner and nice staff. First we drank something and later we ate something. The Currie was very tasty and freshly made! The owner allowed us to spend the night in the parking lot for free! Top!

The service was very good as well as prompt and the food, as always at Weatherspoons, was delicious whilst always being good value for money. I just love spending time in their well maintained buildings that hold so much history too.

Always nice to visit a Wetherspoon

Popped into maidstone weatherspoons this afternoon and to say I was disappointed is an understatement. The beans on my all day brunch had seen much better days. Ordered a kids meal of course comes with a snack bag of apples, which were 'out of date' & was not very nice tasting. I'm aware it's cheap and you get what you pay for but blimey, how not to get custom.

Went on a quiet Monday night , nicely decorated , chatty helpful staff nice tasting food had the sticky Korean chicken bowl

Virtually empty, sat outside as we had 20 old baby, wife was asked to move to the public pavement , as the pavement directly outside is considered licenced premises, and no children after 9.0pm..

It was nice and cool in there. Had eggs benedict, which was lovely!

Wetherspoons are brilliant..they respect the history of an area. Plus their refillable tea or coffee is excellent value.

Typical English location. Good value for money, good beer like most pubs... sufficient/good food, choosing carefully.

Prompt service, friendly staff.

Been using Mugs regularly for awhile as it's great for cheap beer and food. We visited recently and my 5 year dropped his glass on the table which smashed sending liquid and glass all over the table. Kieran and his colleague Violet were on it straight away offering assistance and checking everyone was ok. Some of the glass went in the food which they replaced without us asking and without cost to us. Just wanted to say thanks guys we were very impressed with your customer service, you're both a credit to Wetherspoons

It is what it sets out to be: a no frills, below market-priced eating and drinking establishment which caters to a simpler clientèle. But when you 'take the easier of two tests', you are going to be marked more critically on the easier things to get right (or wrong) and in this regard, the Muggleton gets it right. Yes, the word "gourmet" and the word "Wetherspoon" will never be found in the same sentence (except here😁), but the food is well (enough) made and hot and not buffet. A cheap breakfast, a cheap drink and effortlessly affable greeting from the personable bar girl. It should also be noted that they serve food 'til 2300 too (not even a dedicated restaurant offers this service).

Good food let down by miserable staff, I have worked in retail management for 17 years and a friendly smile and hello goes an awful long way.

Classic beef burger, well...two buns, the meet, a tomato slice (1 slice) the size of an old 50p coin, a trace of a Romanian lettuce the size of the tomato and a thin and soggy piece of onion. You must be joking me.

I enjoy Whetherspoon pubs in general, as firstly they're affordable, secondly there's a good choice of food and drink, and there usually quite spacious. Well, after reading the Muggleton Inn had a million spent on refurbishments, I thought I'd take a look as I was in Maidstone today; and whilst doing so, I ordered a curry and cider - 1330hrs. I have not been able to eat any dinner tonight, as I have had severe stomach pain, in the centre of my belly. Maybe it was the plate or cutlery contaminated, but they definitely have me food poisoning.

I have gone to hundreds upon hundreds of cafe Nero's across the country as I would definitely say that I am a coffee addict. However this is definitely the second best Weatherspoons in the country. It's cozy, welcoming, social and inspiring atmosphere is perfect. The customer service here is outstanding and the staff always go the extra mile to make sure customers leave with a smile especially those who struggle to smile. There food and drinks are made to perfection. I had a sevear breakdown in Thanet last year after suffering from alot of abuse from everyone in my personal life especially my ex, alot of misconduct from all the professionals who were meant to help me, and illegal eviction from my privately rented dream home and first ever private rented home, then I lost my baby due to the lies alot of people told about me. Yet after coming back out of hospital with my PTSD and into the community with no support at all at least there has been people in the community that has really made me smile. Such a quant little weatherspoons.

Service is good, waiters are very nice, food wasn't the best I had at Wetherspoons.

You get what you pay for, standard Wetherspoon food. Building is great with a lot of history.

Rather run down pub and the food is not great in comparison to other pubs.

Popped in for a quick lunch whilst on a coaching day out & river trip in Maidstone. Have visited several of the chains pubs over the years but first time here. Enjoyable experience.

To Tim Martin I have been going to the Wetherspoons muggleton inn Maidstone since December 2023 today 17/01/24 I got thrown out because my dog was sitting with me outside like she always has since I been going there. The manager sent a member of staff out to tell me to leave , when I asked the managers name she refused to give it . The manager appears to be anonymous and sends everyone else to do there work . Won’t return even without the dog .

Its a weatherspoons, what else can you say, menu huge, food and drink are great and cheap and the staff are excellent. Our go to for lunch when we are in Maidstone.

Visited as a large group, very quick service. Nice atmosphere.

Food is I think hit or miss in any weatherspoons, I had the steak and kidney pie, partner had fish and chips, both really nice.

Bog standard spoons. Cheap beer, polite enough staff, usual rickety stair case to the toilets. Nothing brilliant, nothing substandard.

My partner is on a mobility scooter and even though we used the level access but I with the help of other customers had to move several stools out of the way NOT at all disabled friendly

Disappointed to say the least ordered 2 paninis both with chips and got 8 chips on each plate , burnt hard panini too , think I’ll stick to my usal weatherspoons where I get decent size plate of chips and a non burnt panini , won’t be back again such a shame as the building it self is stunning

The place was very busy on a Saturday night. Staff is excellent delivering the drinks in a second after you order. Cheap prices and a lot of fun. The most important thing that is missing to this place is music. People are talking too loud and should be at each other, which is a bit annoying.

alex was amazing. we was sat upstairs. alex was honestly so amazing. alex and megan were honestly the best staff we’ve ever had at a wethetspoons.

Came th the venue this evening and my child had just gotten off of his chair to walk over to me and a manger called Louise literally dribbled beer on his head and nearly stood on him even though a member of the public stated look out for the child

The sirloin steak was so juicy and perfectly cooked, while the alfredo pasta was creamy and indulgent. The beef burger had just the right amount of seasoning, and the British chicken wings were bursting with flavor. And let’s not forget the barbecue chicken melt - it was like a party in my mouth! The ambiance was cozy and inviting, making it the perfect spot for a meal with friends or a quiet dinner for two. And the service? Impeccable. The staff went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. If you’re in Maidstone, do yourself a favor and pay a visit to The Muggleton Inn. You won’t be disappointed.

Typical JDW bit grubby, given a dirty cup for coffee & cutlery not very clean but you get what you pay for

Delicious amazing authentic Italian coffee

Stopped in for a few drinks with old friends, my first time there. On a Friday night it was busy but a good atmosphere and a lovely old building. Good value beer and I really enjoyed a few different ales but the Crafty Fox was definitely off and undrinkable, thankfully not one I chose!

Cheap food a drinks compared to most other public houses. Decor and seating has improved since the refurbishment. Can get a bit rowdy late evening with some of the younger clientele but in general the majority are polite and friendly

Ordered breakfast in an empty restaurant just after 8, arrived promptly, not surprised as it was stone cold so must have been prepared well in advance HB were vile, dreadful eating experience, a real treat for visitors to an English breakfast, suppose you get what you pay for, I’ll never be paying them again for food that’s for sure

I had an amazing time at this Wetherspoon pub but my experience wouldn’t have been complete without Sophie. I have honestly never had better service in my entire life. I hope she gets promoted.

Good and drink excellent as usual. Accessibility good for wheelchairs. Atmosphere was slightly charged with a group of men shouting enthusiasticly with extremely colourful language too! They did however calm down once I asked them to respect that I was with my mother and their language was offensive.

The chicken was over cooked and the presentation was zero.

Revamped and pretty cool. Haven't been here in years. Stopped off for a Leffe before a show and ended up eating as well. Food was cheap but very tasty. You know what you are getting here and it's decent. Staff were very polite and helpful. I'll deffo pop in again when in Maidstone.

Burns night was great with the haggis special staff on phones and not on point but id go back.

9pm on a Sunday and the food was good as was the service. Five of us sat to eat and drink before the Super Bowl and it was better than expected.

Wrong back breakfast delivered at first right breakfast delivered. No bacon took breakfast to till girl said wait a minute five minutes later after dealing with issue with customer my breakfast had gone cold. I said better have money back manager gave money back without query. He knew she had cocked up very very bad service at Muggleton Maidstone

Always a great place to come for a typical Wetherspoons. Great value for money and alslways a service with a smile. The refurbishment has definitely seen some new faces in staff and am very pleased with what Wethersoon PLC have done with such an iconic building in Maidstone 👌

I went for a jolly meal at the muggs. It was very nice. Alex , kieran and jess were very nice welcoming staff could not recommend more . The refurb has definitely changed things around here in a good way .

Just me by myself I use this venue quite a bit as it’s perfect for the price, I had a chicken and bacon salad and it was delicious really happy with the food and service and the cleanliness

Like all Wetherspoons, a large older building that as once again been refurbished. Food is great value for money and always cooked fresh. Sadly they are under staffed but the food was served by friendly helpful waitress.

Lovely big spoons, chavvy bloke arguing on his phone on speaker made for some great entertainment.

Even though they have been closed for an upgrade unfortunately the food itself has not! Worst meal I've had for a long time and everything was cold.

Cheap and cheerful is definitely the vibe with the Mulgelton inn being a Wetherspoons , the food is as expected. I wouldn’t recommend eating more than a simple burger and chips etc.

The normal food. Dirty cutlery My jacket potato was cold, and the salad was very poor. The drink arrived after the meal, and also there was not a drink that we had ordered. The remodeling has been beautiful, now the carpet is clean and there is no dirt between the radiators, but the service is still terrible.

Well...its a wetherspoons so you know the beer is good and cheap. The foods not bad either, good value for money. They've spent a lot on making it look good. It's just the goons and trolls sitting next to you.

Good clean food with a quick service and very pleasant staff

The newly refurbished Muggleton Inn sadly hasn't improved in service. We went for an early lunch on a Saturday. It was well frequented but most people were just drinking, or so we thought. There was one member of staff behind the bar and he wasn't taking note of who was next to be served, and just serving who was nearest to him. We had to wait 45 minutes for food, after being told a whole lot of the menu wasn't available. Apparently the delay was down to "the football". However we regularly eat at the other Maidstone Wetherspoons, The Society Rooms, who are always rammed with football fans on a Saturday, and they manage to serve you and get food out in very reasonable time. Sad that the refurb here hasn't improved the service - we won't be coming back.

This pub only reopened four days ago after being renovated (long overdue). The pub now looks much cleaner and was definitely warmer. Unfortunately, we sat upstairs, and each time we ordered a pint of Carlsberg, the barman had to go downstairs, so there was a delay in getting our drinks. In the ladies toilets, the hand drier wasn't working, and the hand sanitiser was empty. The bar staff were very mixed; one barmaid was so miserable she could have turned the beer sour! I think there is lots of room for improvement.
