Absolutely fantastic experience at this chip shop! The fish was perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The chips were golden and fluffy, exactly how they should be. The portions were generous, and the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. Everything was cooked fresh to order, easily the best fish and chips I’ve had in a long time. Highly recommend to anyone craving a top-notch meal!

Had meal with friend today and it was really poor for the price. Heavy batter, soggy chips, cheap tasteless fish bites and salted squid all over cooked. Save yourself the pain and walk down to Cromer instead

The best chippie for miles!!! Large tasty portions, freshly cooked as you wait. We have been coming to Wills for years, always a good meal. Expect to queue at 5pm when they open at night, especially on a Friday.

Absolutely the best fish and chips I have had in a long time. Fish(cod) had a very crispy batter and lovely cooked fish. Chips were perfect. The curry sauce was smooth and tasty, the best curry fish shop sauce, The owner Will was very accommodating with requests. We have been back just for chips to go with our meal at home a few days later. Very pleasant and efficient staff. Can be very busy but we had timed it right .

Delicious, freshly cooked cod and chips. No horrible skin, so every bit was enjoyable for me. Don't indulge very often, but well worth it.

Had a wonderful lunch from wills plaice this afternoon, great portion size, perfectly cooked and service with a smile. My daughter telling me later in the afternoon how it was perfect and how the staff make her feel soo happy 😊

Had a mini fish and chips. Fish was inedible and thd chips pale and unappetising. For £7.50 it was mot earth the money. Because the batter was so tough I can only assume it had been hanging around a while.

A mistake 😕 here being in Runton this tiny chippy is very expensive and the portions are tiny so avoid don't throw your money away in this place!

Called for tea time fish and chips. All cooked fresh and quite few customers so a 10 minute wait. we has a large fish each and shared a portion of chips. Fish was delicious, crispy batter and fresh cooked chips. Approx £21. Brilliant.

The fish and chips are expensive . They are nothing special .The fish batter is a bit heavy and the chips not that crispy . The shop has numerous signs encouraging you to pay by cash rather than card , saying the card machine is slow, wasn’t when I paid. Staff not that friendly . It’s handy for the nearby villages.

Stunning food, dismal wait. Advertised as cooked in beef dripping, have to say this is the first time I have been conscious that I could taste a meaty finish where people have suggested this. Without doubt the best Fish and Chips you can buy in Norfolk. All cooked Fresh to order, beautiful Cod and perfectly cooked chips. Well worth the drive there to enjoy such a good meal, and still good value.

We walked here from Cromer along the beach. It’s a lovely route. Friendly service, minimal wait and possibly if not definitely, the best fish and chips we’ve had on this coast line. It puts the more famous chippy in Cromer to shame. We will definitely be back this week.

We've been coming here for a few years now, the fish and chips are excellent quality, and the portions are generous. There's a car park just down the road towards East Runton beach (free after 6pm) so it's easier to get to than chip shops in Sheringham or Cromer.

We all know fish and most foods have increased in price of late but a standard bit of cod from Wills Plaice is now c.£10. The chips were soggy too. I used to like this place but they are exploiting customers. Plenty of other fish and chip shops in Cromer or Sheringham and I recommend you save a few pounds and go to one of those establishments.

We decided to have lunch here after a lovely walk on the beautiful dog friendly beach which is accessed from the road adjacent and we were so glad we did. The fish was very large and the batter was delicious, the chips were tasty and not too greasy and the lovely tartare sauce that we had was amazing. Service was quick and friendly and if we are in the area again we will definitely come back.

Having walked to East Runton from Cromer we were a little peckish so decided to have some chips after smelling the chip shop aroma while walking past. The wait was less than a few minutes even with Covid. This was a Saturday morning / afternoon. We were able to sit outside and enjoy our portions of chips. I can say they were excellent and a lot better than those I have eaten at top chef owned chip shop in Cromer. I would recommend Will's Plaice and when times get better could be a regular customer.

We don’t use a fish and chip shop very often but we were staying very close to Wills place and wanted to support the local businesses. There was a long wait but that was because many book in advance and it was a bit expensive but the quality is very good and worth a visit if you are staying in the area . Make sure you have a big appetite or share the chips !!

Nearly 50 minute wait for 2 mini fish & chips!Good effort for covid measures - all staff wearing masks, screens in place & only one person allowed in at once BUT that doesn't excuse serving people in a disorganised & haphazard manner.Really not worth the wait either - bones in fish (big sign saying fish is skinless & boneless but smaller one in door saying 'maybe bones in fish!) and batter partly inedible & don't bother with curry sauce - it was like glue?Nowhere else to go in area so I suppose they don't have to keep standards that high - shame!

Ordered yesterday Well I have to say one of the best chip shops i have had food from! Polite friendly staff and not a long waiting time, I will say, Im not one to order fish, on the 2nd time going i did and it was completely boneless skinless, the fish just fell apart and batter was crispy! Always come here when visiting family in North Norfolk and this time had free fish and chips from Will as we had booked one of his Caravans to stay in. Lovely hot fresh fish and chips, eaten outside the chippie and my son had a burger that he enjoyed. The Covid measures in place worked well and safety for staff and customers was ensured. Obviously we will be back.

I ordered sausage and chips after eating my sausage and chips I ordered some more chips the person serving me put so much salt on the second lot of chips i had to wipe the salt off every chip which I eat onto the paper they came with. I am not happy and this is very bad service don't you think!

Given the good reviews this place had been given and the fact it was over the road from where we were staying, we were a little disappointed with our meal. Whilst portions were of good size, the chips were soft and greasy and the batter hard rather than light and crispy. For what we got it was quite expensive. I guess that was because of lack of alternatives in the immediate area.

Stopped in here on way back from a day out, there was a swiftly moving queue out front. Chips were freshly cooked, as was the cod, couldn't fault the service. Would happily return and reccomend.

Visisted twice so far during our stay locally. Amazing service and I had gorgeous homemade fishcakes with delicious tartar sauce. The rest of our group had cod and chips, scampi, and an array of standard kids menu options. Everyone was very happy indeed! We knew it was a popular choice locally so when we had a larger order we called ahead and arranged a time to collect. Very happy campers indeed!

Visited here on Friday and definitely worst fish & chips we've ever had! I was 10th in the queue and waited over an our to be served. I can only describe what we had as some fish shaped batter. I struggled to find any actual fish in it and the little bit I located was cooked to death. The batter shattered and covered my kids when I stuck my fork in it. The chips were greasy, soggy & generally unpleasant. It was also possibly the most expensive fish and chip takeaway I've had. There were 11 of us in our party (4 seperate orders) and all of us said exactly the same thing! Definitely avoid this one

After checking reviews for this fish n chip shop, we were looking forward to trying them out. How disappointed we were. We queued for an hour which we thought was promising as it was so busy. When we finally got them back to our caravan,we opened them and they looked ok.BUT...the chips were greasy, compacted into one lump.The fish was probably the worst I have ever had from any chip shop. The batter was rock solid and brittle, the fish was so dry, it must have been cooked to death or cooked hours in advance. Very disappointing that it was so inedible, especially as it was overpriced. Never again!

Visited today and arrived at 6.30 pm. Very very busy! Took 65 mins to get to the front of the queue! Also, cash only, which we wouldn't have known if the nice lady having a drink at the bar next door hadn't told us, as the signs were only visible when you were directly outside (& the queue went right round the corner!) Luckily, managed to get cash back at the shop over the road (again,the nice lady gave us the heads ups!)However, after all that, the food was very good, and dare i say, worth the wait - if you have time.

Ordered 2 x large cod and chips, one regular cod and chips and one mini cod and chips for take away. By the time I had got back to the local campsite I found there was no cod in the regular cod and chips so a portion of chips cost us £8.50.Shame.

A sincere thank you is due to the team at Will's Plaice who worked throughout the period of lockdown. A reliable service has been provided within the restrictions placed upon them. The "delivery service" and the "order and collect service" has been appreciated by many people in the locality. Now the place is as busy as ever for the holiday season - so do expect to wait. But worth it: they work hard to provide a friendly service. All part of the seaside experience in this special part of the world. Thank you.

Horrible. Over priced and over battered. Ridiculously overpriced for what is very average fish and chips. Don't expect anything fantastic for the fantastic price you pay. Go elsewhere or queue for 1/2 to be disappointed.

Always a queue here so we thought it would be excellent, it’s not bad, just an average chippy for us. Plenty of good choice on the fish front & our choices were ok, chips average & curry sauce stodgy - yuk.The queues are because there isn’t much more choice in the village & with a few camping caravan sites nearby it looks to be a very popular place - a gold mine.

We stopped at wills plaice yesterday at 6pm. They had no Cod left.so we had Haddock & chips twice. They were very nice i must say.BUT. i was just flabbergasted to be charged £17. Think they have bumped up prices because of lockdown. Won't be going there again at those prices.the same back home nr Norwich is £9.50 for the same 2 meals.

Hubby and I took the dog , children and the Grandad to West Runton beach today and stopped at Will’s for a takeaway fish and chip lunch afterwards. Wow ! Absolutely beautiful fish and chips . My dad is getting on a bit and said they were the best fish and chips he can ever remember having! The large Rock served with a lemon wedge and side of pepper was stunning the men said and my cod absolutely superb. Boys really enjoyed their sausages and chips too. Cooked and served with love with happy friendly service to boot .Our new go to place for fish and chips when we are out this way. Thank you Will’s Plaice for a delicious end to our coastal trip out!
