We stopped off here on the way to pick cherries nearby. We had panini with garnish and drinks. Unfortunately we were told there was no water so no coffee but it didn’t matter. The food was lovely and reasonably priced. It started raining so we squeezed inside.

Had a weekend stay in Northiam and check out was 10am, we were early so drove 5 mins to the other side of the village for breakfast 2 rashers bacon, 2 sausages, 2 eggs and 2 slices of toast, butter and marmalade and either tea or coffee (decaf) for £20 … it was delicious- the bread tasted home made and the food was not from a supermarket - service lovely / so many people calling in ! There’s no tomatoes or beans or wilted Spinach- just what I’ve said but for £10 each it was really good value for money

Stopped off early afternoon as passing through the village. Saw the bakery and thought it would be nice to get the 2 of us a cake. Went in and asked if they had anything vegan. Was told they had 1 vegan sausage roll. I asked if any if their cakes were vegan to which they replied no. Very sad in this modern day that they don't have any vegan options at all apart from literally 1 vegan sausage roll. Most places these days have some vegan options. Also one member of staff who was behind the salad bar kept touching the lettuce leaves with her hands Even though she wasnt preparing anything, just playing with the leaves. Not a place I would recommend.

Small and very friendly cafe attached to an amazing and very busy bakery. Service was quick and polite, the food so, so good. We all had a variation on full English, which comes with toast and marmalade, as well as really good coffee and tea. All ingredients are locally sourced where applicable, obviously coffee isn't from any part of Sussex, but it was really well made. The marmalade was locally made and very, very good. The quality of food was exceptional, and the atmosphere cosy but comfortable and pleasant. having found it once, we returned again as the toast and marmalade was too good to have just once. Excellent value for money and the "made to order" rolls and sandwiches along with the bakery items were equally as good.

What a find! Great little cafe with very efficient and friendly staff and delicious, reasonably priced food. Stopped here for coffee on our way to Great Dixter Garden and decided to return for lunch. Delicious toasted sandwich with excellent salad - not just leaves and the odd piece of tomato. Absolutely delicious. Highly recommend.

Stumbled across this lovely, welcoming cafe four days ago and returned today because we had enjoyed lunch there so much. It did not disappoint. On both occasions the staff accommodated exactly what we asked for in a sandwich, all ingredients were freshly cooked ( egg, bacon and tomato). The bacon was particularly good. The staff were very friendly and helpful on both our visits. We are visitors to this area, but intend returning to this special cafe when we are in the area again in November. Ps cakes to die for.

We popped in around lunchtime on a Friday. We sat in the cafe area. We saw that it was very busy at the counter. There was a nice selection of sandwich fillings. We ended up choosing from the menu: the all day breakfast and a goat's cheese panini (which was supposed to come with roasted peppers but unavailable so I asked for sun-dried tomatoes which ended up being a bit dry and chewy, maybe better if they were cut up?) The cheese was very nice though. My husband's breakfast was delicious, with well cooked quality items. Staff were very friendly. We will definitely be back.

We went to try the cooked breakfast, disappointed that there was no option to add any beans, mushrooms or tomatoes. Only tough sausages, concrete bacon and well done eggs with a puddle of oil. £27 for 2 of these “breakfasts” and 2 hot drinks. Stick to baking, not cooking

Was in the area & wanted a bite & is only bakery/cafe in village. Ordered small sausage roll & latte at counter, staff asked eat in or takeaway so we sat down to eat. All was well. Food nothing special at all. Stuck side salad i didnt eat or want next to my sausage roll. When came to pay, it was £7.85, £5 for sausage roll. I stated i would pay it but wasn't happy as wasnt informed would cost double to eat in. I paid & manager came over when I explained (after I've already paid remember) both manager & staff started shouting at me coz 'it's on the menu', i ordered at the counter, had never been there before & expect small extra charge but double?! After they then told me I was rude. Never again! Next time will go to a neighbouring village

Thankyou for reading our review. Now we fully understand why people told us in Tenterden it’s a beautiful village a must to see but eat elsewhere “avoid Wills bakery". Oh my, what a letdown, on every aspect of what you expect from an eatery. Each one of my family went in individually during our Air BnB stay to pick up a few snacks. Its wayyyyyyy over priced for the quality!! (Need I say more) My husband and I brought the same thing separately on two separate occasions, different prices both times. The staff's attitude must be a way to filter out certain nice customers; we waited for a moment to see if they were actually pleasant to anybody, Ran out of time. Go see Northiam beautiful where time has stood still, eat before you go.!!!

I've wanted to like Will's, I really have. But every visit is met with terse glares, abrupt replies and, on three occasions, an incorrect bill. Never undercharged, interestingly. This week's instalment was an older blonde woman who was downright rude, complete with eye rolling and muttering. That is, until an older gentleman came in making lewd, innuendo filled comments (appropriate from the 1970's perhaps) and then she was charm and giggles personified. Even the younger, more pleasant lady looked embarrassed, as though putting up with the grumpy old Aunt visiting for Christmas.Perhaps it's one of those local shops for local people. There's no other choice nearby sadly, but I'd give it a miss if you're looking for any indication that they've had any customer service training. The food is nice enough, rather overpriced for basic goods made with white flour and cheap ingredients.

Lovely expensive pies, cakes and tarts although do not be deceived by the Bakery part, they buy everything in so are not Bakers in the proper sense . In the current climate only 2 people allowed in the shop at any time with masks, although until last week the staff thought it was acceptable to not wear masks. They also handle cakes with their bare hands without gloves which I do not find acceptable, particularly at the moment. It's as if they think it's OK to give customers Covid but they do not want Customers to give it to them. Some of the staff (not all) are quite terse bordering on being rude, dismissive and aloof, certainly they are not a friendly bunch.I've been a regular visitor in the past but I won't be using them again due to verty high prices and staff attitude. This is a very nice be it small bakery come tea room. Unfortunately because there is no competition in trade it seems they can charge some ridiculously high prices which is a shame. I am sure the quality of food is excellent but at a very high price. £4 for a punnet of strawberries seemed high as Kentish strawberries everywhere now and nearly £2for a small scone. Friendly staff and I have always had good service. But we can't go much because husband is disabled and there is only one chair with arms which is ok for him. They do have a problem in that they are lacking space but in a way that make it quaint. there would be no room to fit larger comfy chairs. I gather this premise started as a bakery and then developed as a cafe. So they do the best they can and it is quite cosy. Now there is seating outside which helps, though there is quite a lot of traffic through Northiam on their doorstep.

In itself, this is a small but pleasant bakery with a few tables and an interesting looking food selection. There is a problem with their pricing though...hugely expensive for very little. When I ordered my customary bowl of salad, I was informed it was £4.50! No one really seems to know what to charge me for it so I've normally paid around £3. This huge increase took my breath away...and the salad that came out was miniscule! I complained and it went back to the kitchen to be topped up. £4.50 is way too expensive for a bowl of salad..no protein..no bread. Your prices are too high and that's a real shame.

We were so excited about getting a prawn sandwich and a doughnut from a village bakery! You'd think it would a fairly easy thing to get right. However, when we got to the car with our takeaway brunch we were utterly dissapointed! The granary bread sliced so thin we could see through it and it only just held the sandwich together. The prawn and mayonaise was tasteless, as in, you could not taste anything.. oh, apart a faint hint of what prawns taste like not long out of the freezer. The one leaf of lettuce was.. er... mean to say the least. No worries, the doughnut and stollen slice will amend for the savoury mishap, we hoped. We were being positive because we had paid the kind of money for this lunch that would normally grant something quite sepcial. Yet, the doughnut dough was tough and filled with too mcuh sickly jam and the Stollen was simply too sweet, with no 'bread' taste to temper the almond paste and dried fruit ususally assoicated with that special Germanic christmassy taste. Anyhow, I hate to give bad reviews, but we felt ripped off by something that appeared to be something it is not. The logo for 'Wills' is incredibly like the logo for 'Bill's' (the extremely succesful and creative veg shop/cafe chain) and sounds strangely similar too. The prices and decor imply that one might receive something of an upmarket quality, rather than a good normal bakers price. Yet the sandwich and cakes were below good. the doughnut ended up in the bin, the rest was tolerated because we were very hungry! We won't be visiting again, which is a shame, as something liek this can be so good for a village and for people who live and work around it. .

my husband and I (how very grand we sound) live just outside the village and have passed Will's Bakery on numerous occasions and never stopped, that is until today, a grey and dank new years eve and we walked from home to the local shop for the paper and on the way home, stopped and treated ourselves to an egg and bacon doorstep sandwich and a latte, we were greeted by very friendly staff, service with a smile and more, we were waited on at a table, always a bonus and had a lovely relaxing sandwich & coffee before heading home, the bakery itself is a tardis and offers a variety of food and drinks as well as selling cards which are slightly different to the big chain cards, little gifts, the whole place is a little gem and well worth a visit if you're ever in the area, we shall definitely be stopping there again

Small and friendly cafe, freshly made sandwiches and soups as well as a whole host of pastries and cakes. Don't leave without a scotch-egg, simply the best! Good, wholesome food at reasonable prices. Great place to meet up for coffee/lunch or to unwind.

I visited Will's with my Grandad and was pleasantly surprised. The food was lovely, reasonably priced and served beautifully. There was also a very good selection of vegetarian items, which was nice for a relatively small bakery. Would definately recommend and visit again.

Thank you to all the staff at Will's. We were a group of 14 cyclists visiting from San Fairy Ann CC and had reserved tables outside. The staff were very friendly, attentive and prompt in their service. Lovely food and good sized portions. Excellent 'Flat White' for those who needed a caffeine boost. We will certainly be back.

My family and I recently visited Will's bakery for lunch, there were 4 of us and we turned up late in the afternoon, although a bit was sold out due to our timing there was still plenty of yummy things to choose from, I had potato and leek soup and a bacon, brie and cranberry panini, the soup came with a fantastic selection of bread and was so delicious, I really didn't need the panini as well but it was so good... The setting is lovely here too it's beautifully decorated with pretty pictures and little trinkets, nice and cozy. I managed to buy a lovely card for Mother's Day and some chocolate for my dad, we also got some take away cakes and cookies which I can highly recommend. All-in-all a fabulous bakery with lots of delicious treats for all, you must pop in if passing.

I collect my Grandson from a local school on Friday afternoons, so have been going to Wills Bakery countless times over the last 3 years. It can probably only accomodate 20 people maximum, but is always spotlessly clean.Never a visit without a welcoming smile.Depending on time available I will have a light hot meal, a freshly prepared roll or sandwich with a really nice salad, or sometimes a pastry or homemade scone. And "proper" coffee. An excellent and relaxing break from the 90 minute drive into Northiam and a great preparation for the 2 hour drive home

Enjoyed breakfast at Will's - a really delicious and generous fry=up. Good coffee - but limited seating space so you may have to wait a little. Clearly used by locals as well as tourists - a recommendation in itself.

Popped in finally today, we have driven past a number of times meaning to stop, and did today. Wills is a quaint little cafe and bakery, we had lunch and both the food and service was amazing, the staff are good with small children and very accommodating. After we had eaten we also purchased items from the bakery and felt the price was incredibly reasonable for what we had, shame it isn't closer really, the manager would have regular trade if they decided to expand with another branch in Hastings. A real gem and we will definitely be returning.

We like it here living fairly local. We do wish the owner would be more friendly though. It has taken us years to even get her to acknowledge us and smile. Staff seem a lot friendlier when she is not around. Lovely and cosy, food good and service is very good. Not so good for our diets though...That attention to detail seems to have slipped a little recently.

Have used the cafe quite a few times since moving to the area - mostly for take away but a couple of times to eat in. The staff are friendly, food and service is really good and there are some really nice gifts and goodies for sale too. Probably the only down side is that the venue is quite small so you may be pushed to get a table.

We were staying in Bodiam and some friends had recommended that we look this place up - so glad that we did.Went at around 2pm and managed to get a table to eat-in. Breakfast was still available (which is what we both really wanted having read the reviews) and they offer coffee in a cafetiere to share which was a nice touch. Coffee was smooth and not too strong, and the breakfast was delicious. Locally produced sausages were really tasty and toasted freshly made bread was also a treat! Staff were friendly and service was quick given how busy they were. There are a few comments on here regarding price, but we thought it was really reasonable. Especially when we counted four staff... I run a small cafe and know that this is where the lions share of the £££s go, and less staff equals slower service - nobody wants that. Couldn't resist a piece of tiffin to take away. The perfect sweet treat after a yummy (late!) breakfast. Definitely recommend!
