Had Sunday lunch for five people today , 11/8, was not packed but few having lunch. Table in corner great and easy access. Mum has limited mobility. Had music playing all through which made conversation difficult for people with hearing aids. Queued for food, beautiful piece of fresh beef came out. It was cut into half. Then quarter and string removed. What was left to carve was chewy and tepid. Veg cold. New potatoes so hard couldn’t get fork in. Cauliflower cheese hard and cold. Gravy was hot. Plenty of condiments. Veg was coming to end so needed refilling. Put out new but do not tip out old onto it so quickly cold.

Disappointed is looking in the fridge to find there is no milk left, seeing a chef picking his nose when he prepares your food is just downright disgusting, i’ve used The Willow off and on for years and all my family live in Thurmaston and i have never seen it this dead, the place is always empty, that should tell you something. I know lots of former regulars and all of them have said the same thing, that the place has gone downhill massively since Paul and Jan left, i haven’t heard a good word said about the new owners and i know plenty that won’t even use the place now, its such a shame to see a great old boozer ruined by the new management! I can only reply once a month on here due to the rules of the site, so this is my last word on the matter. 👋

I accompanied a group of residents from a care home and felt the staff were very accommodating. They rearranged the seating so that three wheelchairs fitted comfortably round the table. The food was really tasty with lots of vegetables cooked to my taste...not rock hard as they often are. The pub was clean and looked modern but comfortable. Would definitely go there again.

I couldn't let our recent trip to The Willow pass without commenting on the excellent staff. This was my first visit although my wife had been before. The first thing that struck me was the friendliness of the staff. It wasn't just one member of staff, everyone we dealt with was very helpful and pleasant. They even tweaked the menu so that we could have veggie sausages as a carvery option and then came to find us when they were ready. Nothing was too much trouble for them. We'll certainly be back.

Previous visits ok, but when visiting the restaurant today I noticed that the regular meat carver wasn't there and another member of staff was carving the meat. Even though she had disposable gloves on, she picked up the meat with her hands before placing on the plates (cross contamination) also wiping her hands many times down her apron, and was continuously pushing doors open with the same gloves on. Not very hygienic

This is a lovely building and the staff were very nice. I imagine it would be very nice for a drink in the evening. However, this is about the food. I chose a simple meal which should not be possible to fail but I was wrong. The sausage and mash was described as Lincolnshire sausage and garden peas. Well, the definition of Lincs sausage is quite clear and these were cheap frozen sausages that I didn't eat. Imagine the look of the type of thing people feed kids on out of the freezer that don't cost much and you get the idea. No noticeable herbs in them (required to be called a Lincs) and more like pureed meat (Lincs should be fairly chunky). Then there were the garden peas. A simple thing which should be quite a vibrant green and soft not a grey / green and like bullets. I didn't eat those either and did say they weren't garden peas but the staff said they added bicarb to them - why! The mash was OK, the gravy clearly merely a poor mix. Mind you, they had Everard's Old Original beer one, a personal favourite. Except, it didn't taste anything like it. An extremely poor experience which is such a shame with nice staff and a lovely building.

We were here with my friends for a drink. I asked for Pina Colada and the bartender didn’t know how to make it. First he took recipes and was confused for a while. Then he started to search in his phone and he was looking for drinks and ingredients. After some minutes he told me it takes 40 minutes to make my drink. So, I just changed my order and asked for half pint of beer. Meanwhile, he was so unkind and he behaved really unmannerly.

I came here on a weekend for Brunch. I decided to try this place with the thought of trying out something new as opposed to the regular brunch places we frequent in Leicester. We found free street parking and the cafe was quiet. We ordered and the food came in a timely manner. The chicken roll was filling and had a great taste. I'd had liked it heated a bit more. The loaded fries were of a good portion! Lots of sauces, cheese etc. Again, would've been much better if it was a little hotter. Seating is reasonable, place is clean and neat and service us good.
