The food was so tasty and affordable. And the service was also really warm, exceptional and prompt. I will definitely be coming again. Thank you for the authentic home-made taste.

Sorry, but revolting food. Dry chicken, totally tasteless and bland. Couldn't eat it. Beer was disgusting. No idea how you can ruin a pint, but left the drink and food. Waste of money.

One star service! We came and ordered some drinks for us and kids. we were told that we need to put them in plastics cups due to football. That’s fine we didn’t have a problem with that. When we pour one of the kids’ drink into a plastic cup we realised that it was broken and half of the drink fell out . Quickly notified staff and they gave us another cup to put on. When I mentioned that a child is now upset because the drink spilled and she hasn’t even drank it we were told ‘ they not going to accept it ;( I never was in a place when something happened ( not our fault ) to a child and they won’t give him/ her a replacement’s . At the end someone from the table next to us brought a drink and said to my daughter don’t mind them. And please understand me well: I am not after a free drink , neither I can’t afford to buy another drink but the plastic cup ( which we were told to put drink into because it’s a match day) was broken and it wasn’t our fault. I will never go to the pub like that, horrible attitude- it’s good when we spend our money there but you can’t spare £1 when it’s your mistake ! Shame

The best place for egusi soup in Leicester so far. The staff, managers are all very friendly and know how to help a customer out. Definitely recommended by me. All being said, the mojito cocktail is my favourite drink here.

This pub has a lot of history, its still a broadly traditional boozer in theme and layout but unfortunately this has become a bit of a backwater despite its location opposite the station. 5 casks on... It seemed, but one is actually a carefully hidden chilled craft pump (the middle one, so fyi) and two ales were not on at time of visit (which was discovered through a slow methodical realisation of the staff by me asking for each in turn only for it to spout foam over them and me then helping them turn the pump clips around) ale picked was a golden, and okay cellared but nose was slightly sour (in their favour though I think its the night before the drayman comes round) so optimistically they are selling and running out of all their ale(?) Not cheap though at around £4.70 a pint. The range of ales is interesting, this ain't not Everard's pub, but in conclusion you can walk 5 mins down the round to the marquis (or even the barley mow) and get a better pint and atmosphere for the same price. Given the parcel yard has shut this place is in a prime position to up its game to catch the commuter crowd.

Just had my first taste of Nigerian food, Jollof Rice with plantain and chicken and beef suya, spiced suya pepper was very good, lips still tingling! Good beer and fantastic service from Christopher, well worth a visit.

Thursday lunchtime is not synonymous with busy pubs and so there was no surprise that this pub was quiet. But it did mean that I got lots of good service from the staff. The real ale selection is good and varied and the food simple but satisfying. A very relaxed lunchtime before 3 days of sobriety in hospital 😖 Although advertised as a sports tv pub I’d say it has more character and far better beer than most 👍

Popped in for a cheeky pint as our train was cancelled. Waiting for the next train (really miss the parcel yard for this) Had a perfectly served Heineken which what was ordered along with, half a Heineken shandy (which i had to get my friend to explain. I don’t believe In them either. ) and a strongbow. We received , the Heineken, strongbow and a pint of shandy of Heineken. £16.10 for the wrong order. No bother. It’s fine. I’ll reiterate, it was only whilst we were for the next available train My friend drinks strongbow and they know when a strongbow is good or bad. It was bad! I’m assuming it was the GM of the pub, came over when my friend decided to complain. GM tasted the strongbow and said it tasted like apples and it was fine. My friend said “okay” can I have a pint of lager instead” but to the persistence of (in my opinion) lackadaisical GM sat back down. No wonder “The Hind” is empty and far from a buzzing place it used to be.

Decided to pop in for a quick drink after our train got cancelled. We ordered 3 drinks which came to over £16 on a Weds afternoon, there was no one else in the pub at this point. The strongbow had a funny smell and taste so we asked if we could swop it for something else. The manager immediately got his back up and asked what was wrong with it m, to which we replied that it just didn’t taste right. Potentially not had one poured from it yet so it had been sat in the line since it was last used. We kindly asked just to have a pint of lager instead to which he kept questioning about the strongbow and needing to no what it was that was wrong incase he needed to take it off sale, he tried some and decided there was nothing wrong with it and there was no reasoning with him. Good customer service would have been to accept this after asking what the issue is and providing us with a replacement drink but by the managers attitude this was clearly not an option. We just said we would leave it to stop the argument going any further and so paid over £16 for a pint and a shandy! Absolutely disgusting customer service which has now resulted in a negative review. Maybe next time you will think about how you speak to your customers if you want them to return.

Had 1 pint of lager. Had about a 5 finger head. Sighed when I asked to fill it up. She didn't look she had poured pint before. No tilt on the glass. Then tasted like fairy liquid. Then the price. Disaster spontaneous stop.

Said they were going to show the euro games. Even got adverts on tables for it. Walked in to find wrestling on and bar staff said don’t know how to change it. Had to find somewhere else to watch it

Wow what a rude member of staff. Ordered Rum and coke. Tasted horrible. My friends tried it and also said it tasted horrible. Lady was so rude, she’s like everything fine, wouldn’t replace and I asked for a refund and said no. Very rude. I would avoid this place

Excellent service. The food: amala with fish and egusi soup, tastes great 👍🏿. I was really tempted to make another request; however, that will make me a "wobia" "greedy ***" in English parlance 😜. Excellent location for the University of Leicester, DMU, and Leicester Royal Infirmary. Definitely, I will be going back to try something else.

Lovely fresh ingredients. Hand chopped and cooked chips. Came out quickly and with a friendly server. Very reasonable in cost £30 for three mains and drinks.

Have started a non processed carb diet, this excludes rice . This is the first African menu. I've found..... .... I had the Jollezi chicken..... With Plantain and Salad...... And a shed load of the most fragrant and delicious jollezi rice I've ever tasted. ..... The whole thing was excellent. The fact I found the strength to leave two thirds of the rice is testiment to my determination to stick to the diet but I may never forgive the cook. Highly recommended to those who love the kind of perfectly cooked, suberbly spiced rice that will haunt your dreams Me, I'm at the gym in the morning and would be going to confession except that if the priest tried one mouthful of that rice I'm sure I would get absolution and 0 hail Mary's

Real ale is pants, it’s really not good. And service is devoid of personality. Avoid with a big A.

We entered and no one greeted us. We had made a reservation before hand but the waitress and staff did not explain to us as to where our table was. After finding our own table, we decided on our dishes (Mostly African based) and had ordered them. It took a long time for the order to come and it came one by one and not as a group, so some of us were eating while others were not. I ordered the fish and chips and the fish had no seasoning while the chips were loaded with salt. It also came with peas that did not taste good at all. The Tarter sauce was incredibly sour and I did not finish it. The ketchup was good. Overall, it's an okay place to go but I don't think I will be back again to order food.

My partner and I came here on a Friday morning for breakfast before catching the coach back to Taunton. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I ordered a full English breakfast. It was delicious! I was very impressed. My partner enjoyed her poached egg on toast. I noticed an Afro Caribbean menu. I didn't know what anything on the menu was, but one of the staff (Angie) explained what everything was. My partner and I are planning on coming up to Leicester again in March next year, so will definitely be coming back to try out this menu.

I had an amazing time out with my friends where we had different English and African dishes at the same time, order was ready in no time fresh and so delicious especially their signature PB burger 🍔 we couldn’t stop at a plate, beautiful smiling staffs calm environment with a lot of attention to make sure we were satisfied. What a lovely pub in a prime location! Straight from arrival to leaving the staff were friendly and welcoming and the vibe inside was lively despite having hardly anyone else in. There’s a great range of drinks and considering where it is the prices are good. It’s lovely to find a venue with a pool table, so this is a good option for a group of friends and there’s plenty of seating along with TV screens. For a more party vibe it’s highly recommended and I’ll certainly be returning!

I went there to just go to the toilet and the owner and server is absolutely amazing, I was supposed to just go toilet and I’ve been her 4 hours the staff is so friendly and the drinks aren’t expensive I will always come here and is so very kind I will always be coming here ! And it’s opposite the train station the Passion blend n hind bar I will come in her every time!!!❤️ NG is amazing and cool flavours!!!

The African dishes are most definitely valid, became a regular customer after my first time eating here. Great reasonable prices and customer service is up to standard by all staff, would definitely recommend this restaurant/pub.

Never stepped into the place but I've ordered frequently from there and I have to say something. For the price their charging, the portion sizes is a joke. Their the only African place on delivery apps like Uber Eats and Just Eat that dared to serve such small portions while their prices are so similar to the other places. They may open earlier but it comes with dissappoint. They also can't cook suya to save their life. Instead of spice that the product is known for, your tasting one of the most sour meats to ever grace your lips. My record is three pieces before throwing in the towel. The only reason why this isn't one star is because apart from these issues, the food is most pretty solid.

The Hind is a solid traditional pub in Leicester, a stone's throw from the station. They normally offer a healthy selection of cask ales. Upon my visit in October, on a stopover between Stansted Airport and Derby, ALL of the cask ales were out. All of them. The barman was very friendly, but of course there was nothing he could do. Fairly cozy interior, pleasant place.

The beef suya is really something else, great staff, Alex is a fittie, can't recommend more

Wow this was the worst meal I have ever bought. They didn't honour the Meerkat deal. Took 50 minutes to serve food. The rice tasted like a packet mix. The meat was all bones and the chicken burger like a piece of cardboard. No wonder the place was empty! No apology when I complained no attempt to rectify anything...but let's face it they had no chance of recovering from it unless it entailed a full refund. Never be going again even on 241 ! My response to the owners reply is this....You have missed the point completely. Meerkat 241 was NOT the issue! Had it been we would not have stopped for food at your establishment. No idea what you are referring to regarding drinks...unless you mean because asked if you had a happy hour on cocktails!...which was hardly a ridiculous question, and was just an enquiry not a problem. We bought 3 rounds of drinks and spent £26 on food. So clearly money/deals were not a concern at all. What was an issue was the actual inedible food. All 3 meals were returned. No attempt was made to rectify the situation, in fact all the staff vanished in the back. I felt sorry for the girl attending us as clearly she was not in a position to help but had to be the front of house and listen to the complaint with no back up from the owner who clearly dosent care about building customers or taking responsibility for the quality of service. I have NEVER left a bad review in my life. Congratulations you are my first, and most justified on all fronts! If you like packet rice, dried inedible chicken, and bones with cold tomatoes, soggy fries with a plastic slice of cheese melted on top highly recommended it....otherwise I suggest walking a bit further into town and getting some decent food at one of the other eateries Leicester can be proud of.

Food was disgusting, I was the only one in the party who made an attemp to eat it and felt I'll afterwards. The atmosphere was nice and the place has a lot of potential being near the train station however they seriously need to up their game for food. The waitress was really nice and polite however after returning our food vi(rtually Untouched) there was no apology or any offer for a refund

This is my first order from the restaurant and I know that it is new restaurant but wanted to try and I realized that, I made a wrong decision. Firstly, restaurant mentioned as student discount and delivered wrong portion (doesn't satisfy) the price stated for the order. After receiving the order the chicken is dried and burnt. Taste doesn't match with Jellof rice with other African restaurants. I do not recommend this restaurant.

Fantastic atmosphere cold Beers

Food was brilliant, the chips were absolutely incredible. Staff are relaxed and the manager went out of their way so that both of us had the food we wanted and in time for our train. First time coming in here today, will definitely be back next time we're in Leicester! Thanks again for sorting us out! 👊

I was there last week and it was very busy. They are all working so hard but all of us could see that it's wort coming back. The beef burger is just something else. I never tasted something like that. And obviously the service! Alex you stole my heart!! I recommend this place to everyone!

This bar is the worst. We have been here two times in the past month and both times the service was terrible. The servers were really nice. HOWEVER. It took 2 hours for our food to arrive and drinks would take an hour at least. Food was also burnt and tasted disgusting. Their payment system was so flawed. We were in a group of 12 and one persons payment did not go through and everyone left. By the time the bar figured that out only one person was still in the bar, and the servers kept them and did not left them leave, even though they had paid for what they ordered. DONT GO TO THIS BAR. Unless you want to wait 1 hour between drinks. Bye

This bar is a joke. Prices during football games are more expensive than normal. Despite the offered student discounts upon presentation of the student ID card, the manager/head did not allow the employee to grant the discount and the owner is rude. No wonder there are never any people in the bar.

I'm a STUDENT, I worked in a pub for a few months and from this experience I would put out zero stars if it was possible. I was cheated, the owner doesn't want to pay me back for over 2 months, there is no contact with him. What's more, the pub uses a lot of interesting games to CHEAT the customers as well, among other things, it INCREASES the price of everything as soon as more people appear and any discounts that they advertise before entering do not really work, including student ones. If your PASSION is cheating and lying I sympathize. I DO NOT RECOMMEND

Brilliant Pub I know the most of the staff their Sam and Aster very friendly people in the hind I am always happy at the hind with my pints I don't have any trouble from anyone very nice furniture and arcade machine the food is very yummy and nice I am always in the hind when I have the money I can always chill and with my pints and have a fun time and I can always speak to Sam the boss he always cheers me up and have a laugh with me best Pub I have ever been too 🤗🤗

Flat beer at £4.40 for Carling, £4.00 bottle for Heiniken 0.0. Used to be a good pub prices are now too high for the kind of pub it is. Head for Wetherspoons instead.

Amazing pub with great prices and the nicest landlord in the world. Amazing food always made from scratch (not frozen like in most places). Plus a beautiful back garden with grill for parties! And what is very important to mention- the venue is very clean. And toilet smells like Hubba Bubba.
