Wildwood in Portsmouth

Absolutely ridiculous had a booking for valentine's for a lovely 2 course menu my girlfriend suffers from wheat so we had a set menu for her starter and main. We had a peri peri chicken with chips and not once but twice the chicken came out cold in the middle. By the time we had are dinner it was almost 11pm and on top off that the price 2 course dinner £20 each plus I had 1 pint off calsburg and 1 small glass of diet coke when paying for it the staff just asked me to scan card and when I got outside looked at total cost it came to £60 because they don't tell you that you pay for a service charge and an extra 20% vat on top of the bill. Please do not go there especially if you suffer from allergies as my girlfriend was very ill due to contact with wheat as was ill for 3-4 days after. Absolutely disgusting.

Great restaurant, friendly, good humoured and attentive staff.

I popped in for a meal and was blown away by the whole experience! The Double Pepperoni pizza was just perfect — great taste, spot-on portion, and beautifully presented. The fries were equally impressive; they really hit the mark! Service was excellent, with a warm greeting and prompt attention throughout my visit. Can't recommend this place enough for a top-notch meal!

chips were the only hot item although extremely salty. the carbonara with chicken and lasagne was practically cold

Quiet experience, wasn't overly crowded. Was shown to our seat but someone who seemingly had enough of the day and was a bit abrupt, but the waitress was pretty good. Just an off day I think, not letting it taint the experience. Our starters arrived before our drinks, despite the drinks being ordered before (and weren't exactly challenging orders) and we were 3 courses completed in an hour, seemed pretty quick but overall okay. Not sure id return but for the location and general look, made up for it.

What a great find! I walked past this place and decided to pop in, and I'm so glad I did. The food and drinks were on point, and the cleanliness was top-notch. The staff were super friendly, welcoming me and checking in throughout my meal. Everything from the atmosphere to the speed of service was perfect. I can't wait to come back!

First time coming here and the food was delicious, service was excellent, the people are so lovely and welcoming. The atmosphere here is so nice. Will 100% be back and many times after that

We went for a Christmas meal with my colleagues, understandably had a bit of waiting, but had amazing food and had a great time. It is decorated beautifully and we had a wonderful time.

Service was poor. Took too long to get our food. Didn't all eat together at same time. Expensive for what the food was. My seafood liringe did have plenty of seafood in which was great. Very noisy. Quite a lot of tables crammed in.

I ordered a margarita pizza from wildwood in port Solent and the state it came in is appalling and out of order . I don’t understand how can someone let this thing out of the restaurant and send it to my house like that . I would personally be ashamed to serve someone this . It seems like they have a new worker working there day one that’s learning to make pizza . It turned up soo cold , the cheese was not melted , the dough looks like it’s not been cooked in places they put a stack of oregano on it . In one place there’s cheese missing and totally blank . And they just put two shirty basil leave on it . definitely not worth 15£ . This is the worst pizza in my life . I had a friend over and what an embarrassment of this pizza turning up like this . I definitely don’t reccomend ordering from there to anyone .

Popped in for a late lunch and the service did not disappoint, after being seated and our order being taken we waited a minor 3 minutes and a total of 20 minutes for our food. I treated myself to a Philly cheese steak sandwich and a garlic pizza bread. Personally the sandwich was a bit weird only due to the toasted bread but was still super tasty and well cooked. A positive dinning experience with a good atmosphere, at times I could hear the bar staff shaking the cocktails which was cool. A good place to eat

The food was excellent, but the portions were so small that we needed a few slices of toast when we got home.

Thus was a very special day for our family and the food and service we received was excellent. Very professional, courteous, polite, nothing was too much trouble for our waitress. Will definitely recommend it and we will definitely return.

I popped back to this restaurant and had a great time overall. The atmosphere was buzzing, and the service was spot-on—warmly welcomed and given a friendly farewell. The food hit the mark, but I found the drink prices a bit over the top; £3.85 for a coke feels a bit steep when I can get so much more for less. Still, I appreciated the cleanliness and speed of service. Looking forward to my next visit!

Really pleasant staff. Nice menu, with a choice of cockrails. Good food that came promptly. It's a big restaurant and was quite quiet when I went in there, but can imagine when it's busy it would be full of an atmosphere. There was no need to book (Sunday afternoon).

Family lunch food was good but the Tuscan sausage ragu disappointed. The pizza was amazing though.

Fabulous seafood linguini if you order it WITHOUT CHILLI as the sauce and flavour is excellent but spoilt by the excessive heat of the chilli. Luckily they changed mine for me and it was beautiful. Also the sea bass that my wife had was delicious. Excellent service and nice atmosphere. A lovely dining experience.

We came here for a second time this year, but this time OMG 😲 . Fire of all we had our order taken by a whatbit looked like an experienced member of staff. He took our order without any notes or tablets, anyways we are waiting for the drinks to come but we are surprised to see the starters arriving beforehand. After complaining to the other member of staff we did receive our drinks in the end. After a while we had our mains and they were mediocre to say the least. Lasagne was OK but nothing special, carbonara without any saltiness in it. We have been here before but this time around we felt like no one really cared, such a shame

Had a lovely meal with family and friends. Food was lovely and the staff were great.

The meals were utterly tasteless! I can't remember the last time I ordered three different meals and couldn't eat much of any of them. There were three of us and no one enjoyed their meal or even ate half of it. The presentation wasn't inviting at all and let's just say I'll certainly never go back there!

Popped in for a quick bite to eat between church and reception of a wedding. Not too busy and lovely inside. We chose the cobb salad with a portion of sweet potato fries. Really good sized portion and so tasty. Only grumble was that the older male member of staff was very loud. Other than that no grumbles at all and would highly recommend.

Had a lovely meal and the service was super friendly. However the selection of desserts was a bit disappointing. Ended up ordering ice cream and there was absolutely no effort on the presentation. Aside from desserts, very happy with the meal I had. Well presented and tasty.

Opened for lunch at 12 , and we 3 chose nice varied creations to test the kitchen , haddock cakes ,fries on a pleasant garnish. Avocado salad & Beefburger & all lunches were polished off. Great family service. For us and the dog inside . Bottled beers washed it down nicely.

Took the lunch time special menu which was good value for money. Had the mackerel patè starter followed by the lighter option of 1/2 pizza and salad for mains. There wasn’t enough toast with the paté, so asked for more. My daughter had the goats cheese penne for the main menu which was equally delicious to mine too. My granddaughter had bolognaise, milk shake and ice cream all for £1. Good value and tasty. I did see I was charged for the extra toast but advised I wasn’t told it was extra, it was obliged and removed from the bill.

Booked well in advance as had 2 dogs with us. Port Solent busy with great entertainment but Wildwood was struggling to keep up. So disappointed as it was a second visit and last one wasn't good either. Walked out and went somewhere else

Really enjoyable meal out. Service from the waitress who took the order was fab, what a lovely girl. Good food and atmosphere was noisy but managable.

There was a number of us 30+ so wasn’t expecting much. Staff were lovely tried the best with so many people. Everything took its time but our food arrived altogether which was amazing. Unfortunately my meal was really uneatable. I chose a Ceaser salad thinking with this many to cater for was a good choice. Salad was fresh but unfortunately the chicken was so hard I would have broken a tooth if I ate it. I would normally have sent it back, but I was with a crowd who I had not been with before. I live locally to the restaurant and have never been before but sorry won’t be back.

Food was pretty good as was the service. Nothing to write home about but nothing to complain about either.

Sunday lunch for four, the food and service were excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed and will return.

Really delicious food and reasonably priced. Staff were great, polite and good service. Unfortunately its also extremely noisy, the layout and building itself means that the noise is amplified. We struggled to have conversations and hear each other during our meal which was the only negative. Other than that its a great place to eat.

Just returned from an excellent lunch at Wildwood. We were a party of six and had a sociable round table with a view of the marina. We chose from the 2 course lighter lunch menu and we were all pleased with our choices. We had an excellent server. She was so helpful, great sense of humour and efficient . Which made the whole experience more enjoyable. We think our server was Estelle. Thank you to Wildwood .

An underrated pizzeria offering a vast range of Italian food. Great for authentic stone baked pizza, chips & brownies. Will be coming back!

Great food, great evening, and good company however restaurant was quite noisy to the extent the waitress struggled to hear us and struggled to get the order right. Perhaps look into the acoustics and sound absorbers. Took quite a while to get our order but the food was so good it actually was worth the wait. The toilets were clean but the engaged or vacant indication was lacking and not very efficient.

It's a pricy pizza restaurant with no real atmosphere. Food we ordered was OK but small in quantity.

I ordered the chicken liver pate as my starter but as I do not like nuts I asked if I could have it without the hazelnuts. I told the waiter this and explained I was not allergic. He suggested I was lying about being allergic and if I was would not serve me. He eventually believed me. The pate itself was pretty tasty (3/5) but when I asked for butter, it was thrown down on the table rudely. My main was a chicken in white wine sauce that was overcooked and dry. The best part of the meal was the green beans.

Four of us went into eat, my dish came out wrong, so by the time my food came out the three other family members had finished, so I sat there eating on my own, the food was bland with no taste, my mothering laws seat was sticky, was the fastest I think we’ve ever left a restaurant.

Visited earlier today and would say this restaurant was ok. The food was fine and waiting staff also unremarkable'. Was surprised to find a 10% service charge added to our bill as mentioned by other recent reviews. The toilets however were not ok. No loo roll, ooo hand driers and generally not well looked after or maintained. I would not rush back to this place.

Friendly and attentive staff, who provided excellent service. Always our favourite when we are in Port Solent. Special mention to Cana.

Took our well behaved dog. They gave him a treat of doggie ice cream, bowl of water. Nothing was too much trouble. We had lunchtime menu and was great.

Atmosphere was nice, but service was slow and food was very average.

Had booked a table for 9 of us, clearly putting in the notes 6 Adults 2 children and a highchair would be required. When arriving at the restaurant, our table was not ready and no highchair. Service was very slow, drinks order was taken, Had to wait awhile for them to arrive before our food was ordered. At no point when we received our food did we get checked on?? Service charge was removed on our request as not warranted.

We were a party of 7 and we all really enjoyed the food and prices were fair. I knocked a bit off for atmosphere because was quite noisy. I think they need some noise absorbing walls or floor. Otherwise great place to eat.

The chicken was tough - there was no avocado - the chips were cold and only half were edible - the bacon was undercooked - you enclosed a carton of orange drink and a chocolate brownie which I did not order and had to throw away as I am diabetic. Needless to say, I will not be ordering from Wildwood again.

Great location, good food and an enjoyable atmosphere

Initially left standing at the entrance, it appeared that the staff were all just too busy to acknowledge us. That was put right by the manager after he directed one of his team to assist us. The food arrived promptly after we ordered it but we were surprised to learn that they had no vinegar. I can't recall ever eating in a British restaurant where they didn't have vinegar. The food was OK but no one checked up with us to make sure; a standard routine in most eateries. Unable to catch the attention of one of the waiting staff, we again eventually gained assistance from the manager. We asked for the bill and were surprised to see that it included an automatic 10% service charge. The manager asked if we were happy with this as I suspect he realised we hadn't had the best experience. Its unusual for me to leave no tip whatsoever but on this occasion I didn't feel one was warranted. Having said that, my thanks to the manager who appeared to be doing his best with the staff that he had. I should add that it was extremely quiet making our inability to attract the attention of the waiting staff even more frustrating.

Lovely atmosphere the serves are very kind and helpful got our food and drinks in good time. The food is very nice. They have colouring sheets for kids and high chairs.

Noisy atmosphere,food was OK but quite expensive as where the drinks the waitress was very pleasant. Service charge was added to the bill with without any mention beforehand. Should have been left to the customer to decide if a tip should be given, obviously with the noisy atmosphere and cost of food and drinks as well as the limited choice of menu, one may not have been given, so I assume that's why the service charge levied. Not an experience any of our families will be repeating.

Food was ok but overpriced for the quantity

We ate at your restaurant in port Solent today.The waitress was great but my husband had a steak,it was awful no taste very bland I had a spaghetti bolognaise that was taste less it said rich ragu sauce. Mine was watery not great. We did tell the waitress about the steak nothing my husband did even it it all a few mouthfuls wouldn't race back there

Good, plain food. A lot of food with chips. Fairly quick, efficient service. Very helpful staff. Quite a noisy venue when full.

Set lunch menu is very good, pricing is adequate, and food itself is very tasty. However when asking for our meal choices the waitress asked whether we wanted fries or salad WITHOUT mentioning it was an extra charge on top of the set menu. Both of these aren't mentioned within the set menu page, and therefore was misleading as to whether it was included or not because of the way it was mentioned. Fries and salad are each ~£4.50 - which is quite expensive for the portion size, at least for the fries (the salad however is admittedly pretty darn good). Atmosphere: Large Hall like setting so even with a few customers your voice projects across and at busier periods it will be hard to hear across a table from noise, and speaker music is American rock throwbacks which is pretty fun and fits the wildwood theme; if a bit 'tin-ny' sounding, quality wise. All in all the service was fairly polite, fast, and food was delicious so I wouldn't fault them for this. Just do be aware that when being asked about sides WITH the set menu they have additional EXTRA charges. I simply would have appreciated more transparency. That being said the set menu is good and worthwhile so I would still reccomend this place.

Disappointing over cooked food (which we were refunded) and long waits in between courses although the place was pretty quiet. Even had to wait for ages to pay the bill. Won't be returning to this branch but will continue to visit the Wildwood at Whiteley which is always lovely.

my fav restaurant at port solent. we had dinner on a friday night and we were served drinks and food so quick! love that you can customise the pizza :)

We had a good experience here. The service was excellent and the food was great too. I had the Chicken Romana which was crisp and tasty and not too dry which it could easily have been. My partner had a burger which was not overcooked and everything with it was perfect including some really nice crispy chips. We will try here again.

I had a lovely meal. There were 2 children in our party of 8, but the children's play area wasn't open.

Open front kitchen playing loud music which makes it hard with separate different restaurant music.

Terrible. Won't be going there ever staff not very friendly sighed as we walked in. chose from the menu to be then told half of the menu was unavailable.
