O Sole Mio 2 in Portsmouth

A truly excellent venue without door and indoor seating. The indoor restaurant has a luxurious atmosphere with linen tablecloths, napkins and fresh flowers on the tables. It is however very reasonably priced. The food is excellent, with it seems, a Sicilian twist. The service at lunchtime was very prompt and the dessert menu was innovative as well as delicious.

Lovely family-run Italian restaurant. Tasty caprese salad to start and delicious pizza. Relaxing dining experience on a sunny terrace overlooking port solent marina.

Thankyou to this restaraunt and staff who gave us a complimentary dinner and drinks following an accident on our first visit. It says alot about them as a business and how they value customers. We will definately be returning.

We came here as a group of 16 for a birthday celebration. From beginning to end the evening was faultless. The staff were all attentive and cheerful and efficient. Looking after a table of 16 people, keeping everyone happy with a smile and serving us amazing food is no easy task in a totally packed out restaurant on a Saturday night but they did it 😀

Another lovely meal here. Even though it was a busy Friday night, the food and service was incredible. My friend and I shared the arancini, and had a maon each. Would recommend booking if coming on a Friday or Saturday.

My birthday party on 16 August 2024 for 18 people at O Sole Mio, Port Solent, was fabulous. Personal attention from the Manager Giovanni, Roberto Chef, and all the lovely staff. Great meals, good portions, tasty drinks etc etc. I cannot recommend it enough. Waterside views, smart interior, real tablecloths and I was allowed to bring in a professional accordian player, Gennaro Fiondella to entertain us. A really wonderful birthday to remember. Thank you all.

We have been to this restaurant many times and have enjoyed pizza .the staff including the manager looked after us very well. But lately we found pizza contained only sparse amount of toppings which we brought to the attention of manager but he could not care less.very unlikely to visit again!!

The food was ok but not exceptional. You need to spend around £50 per person for a 3 course meal with a drink and a coffee. I would probably visit again at someone's party or a work do but unlikely for a family dinner.

We visited this place with friends. Sitting outside on a sunny day was great. The tiramisu was ok, service was good. Pizza was ok too.

visited for Sunday lunch. Beautiful sunny day and asked to be seated on the terrace. Unsuitable tables for two were offered both of which were located in dingy dark s scruffy areas of the terrace one of which was in full sun …the weather was hot! Was refused a table overlooking the marina in the shade as it was set for four! Reluctantly took an inside table for two. Roast beef Sunday lunch. Beef was passable, roast potatoes and veg mushy, and bland. Carrots almost purée. Young lady who served table was very pleasant and efficient but sullen male waiter as well as luke warm food made the whole experience unpleasant. Noted by time we left not one sitting was placed at the shaded table set for four overlooking the marina . Shame, having been involved in hospitality for many years one wonders the agenda of the staff member who refused to seat us at our chosen spot . If you seek a pleasant and amiable experience for Sunday lunch with food to enjoy and good service give this venue a miss .

We have been coming here for years and always enjoyed it but as a large group on Friday night it was not so good. Food was overpriced and mediocre, service was extremely slow and not particularly friendly this time. The bill is very hard to split because the receipt is not itemised so they just handed us a menu to try to work it out which wasn't easy with such a huge group of us. We left a £20 tip but no word of thanks or anything. I think sopranos in Southsea is better.

Beautiful food. Wonderful staff. My friends and I had such a lovely meal,the staff were amazing. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Meh... Expensive average food, Disappointed at the tired old garnish and worn out establishment. Not sure why they ask you if everything was alright if you're going to be confronted by egocentric staff. Did see a lot of other tables food left on plates so maybe it was a tired old chef instead ?

Didn't itemise the bill and over charged a big group and made it confusing on purpose. The foods not worth the price anyway, you can get far better Italian food elsewhere.

Had a lovely date night here. The restaurant feels proper Italian and authentic. The staff was incredible and the food was too. I did notice our pasta dishes looked the best, compared to some of the fish and meat dishes, so I’d highly recommend going for the pastas. The lasagna and gnocchi were particularly splendid. I would agree with some other reviews that the wine was a little overpriced.

Fantastic meal out, tasty food and brilliant service throughout. Couldn’t fault anything, big shout out to all the team there.

Poor experience for our group. The staff were overwhelmed with indifference and it seemed to be too much trouble to serve us or even smile let alone engage with customers! The overpriced food was OK, but we all agreed that we’ve had better. With a glass of Merlot at £10.50, we certainly would not recommend this place. Shame as it used to be good.

We invited our 2 friends from Frome in Somerset for a meal at this restaurant knowing they would be in for a treat. We have used this restaurant before and the food was really good! We weren't disappointed. It was excellent. Freshly cooked, delicious, great attentive service, although that could have been because it was a bit quiet mid week on a Wednesday at 1.30pm lunch time. It was also a very cold day outside but inside was inviting , was cozy and warm with nice background music and lovely white tablecloths and napkins. If you want a meal with a bit more 'class' and want a special Italian experience, this is the place to come.!

I visited as part of a party of 7 recently and sadly we were all very disappointed in the service we received . Not one smile from staff during our visit, nor any conversation with us apart from taking the order and asking how we wished to pay. It would have been more professional to at least smile and check if all our meals were ok . Food was ok but I have had much better for a similar price elsewhere, including London . Once we requested the bill I found it very off putting for the waiter to literally stand overlooking my shoulder, rather at the end of the table or give us time to discuss how we’d split the bill or the tip we wished to leave Not sure if we caught them on a bad day as I have always found Italian restaurants very friendly and welcoming . Unfortunately this was not our experience here and because of this we would not choose to return . The staff here gave the impression they’d attended a ‘Grumpy’ course and achieved an honours degree

The place has good reviews so we were looking forward to our meal. This restaurant is certainly not inexpensive so again you expect good value and tasty food. The calamari rings as a starter at £13 were underwhelming but my pepperoni pizza at £16 was bland, tasteless and seriously overpriced. The risotto with chicken and mushroom was good. A glass of 250ml rose wine at £8.95 was a bit steep and a glass of apple juice at £4.00 was definitely over the limit. Its obviously a popular place but we will certainly not be returning.

My 11 year old grandson loves this place, so on a visit we went with his choice for dinner. Went early to avoid busy period. Great friendly welcome and we weren't rushed to order. Calamari and whitebait starters were excellent, followed by marinara pizza and calzone. Both man size. To be 'picky' the pizza topping could have been more generous, but it was very tasty, The profiteroles were nothing short of Amazing. Great service, good food and wine. Altogether an enjoyable dining experience.

Lunch spot for a double birthday lunch. Very welcoming staff. Love the table clothes, smart cutlery and classy glasses. Pasta dishes so packed with flavour they knock your socks off! A bit more expensive than elsewhere but so very, very worth it. I have been to various parts of Italy. This place takes me right back there. Belissimo!!

Possibly one of the nicest experiences of dining out I've ever had. The customer service was beyond fantastic - they go above and beyond for you. The food was, dare I say it, probably the best I've had in a long time. Everything was cooked to perfection and really high quality and decent portion sizes as well. We will be returning. Thank you for making my husband and I's first date night in almost a year so memorable and special.

Busy evening Saturday restaurant good atmosphere. It was full but very attentive staff. However, fish was not seasoned and dry (swordfish and tuna steak) without any sauce just a bowl of salad on a side and slice of lemon did not make that meal worth £24. Shame really. The waitress although smiley could not explain anything when our requests and concerns were raised making me think it was a language barrier. I don't think I will be tempting booking there again.

O Sole Mio is the best restaurant in the Havant, Waterlooville, Port Solent area. I first experienced the restaurant on my 15th birthday and I'm 35 now and I've been going there ever since. The food is so exceptionally delicious, fresh and vibrant all wrapped up with Italian passion and the knowledge and expertise of their dishes. It's like having an traditional piece of Italy in your local area. Staff always friendly and helpful every time greeted by a smile and warmth. I couldn't recommend O Sole Mio enough but all I'll say is when you try it once, you will be hooked for life like me! Absolute Perfetto 😉

Incredible service, excellent quality food and a super cozy place, super friendly waiters and always trying to speak Spanish with us, I would give it 20 stars if it were possible, we have already been several times and each day is a different and charming day . Great team and the boss Giovani a super nice person.

Great food, the wine was very good and service great including plenty of help to choose dishes for picky adults and kids too. Seabass special was very impressive but I stuck with the Spaghetti Bolognase washed down with some wonderful red wine bought by my mate who recommended coming here.

Food was good, service was good. Resturant was busy as to be expected with run up to Christmas. However the DJ was not necessary and over powered things. We had come out to meet with friends, to chat but sadly couldn't hear each other without having to shout! The amount of people in there trying to talk over the music was a nightmare. Wouldn't rush back because of this.

I had dinner here with a friend. As usual it was a very enjoyable evening. The staff were friendly & the service excellent. The food was delicious & filling. I'd highly recommend the bolognese.

Absolutely loved our meal here..they catered for a table of 8 of us. The food was cooked freshly and promptly. The service was spot on and I have no hesitation leaving a 5* review.

Sunday evening we decided to eat pizza. We went to O Sole Mio Two for the first time. The service was excellent and attentive. The pizzas were very good. The tiramasu was good. The house wine was fine. There were things on the menu that we look forward trying next visit, because we will definitely return.

Can't really fault the place, good food, nice atmosphere, brilliant staff and reasonably priced. Booking system via the website doesn't seem to be very good so I'd recommend going 'old school' and ring to book a table, especially on a Friday / Saturday evening.

Iv eaten here every month since April...and it was amazing. But, last time I sent my food back. Tasteless and DROWNING in oil... The waitress told me, its not oil because we don't use oil, its butter...*eye roll*, no appology just sarcasm. Everything else we ordered was great, in fact my brother said the best calzone he ever had. They removed the bad dish from the bill and I thought just a one off issue. However, last night took my sicilian friend and everything was terrible. The waitress was throwing stuff around one table was laughing at the noise she was creating...and then the food...everything tasted frozen, ready made, precooked...the cheese was like sponge, the ham dried upp and stuck, the tomatoes were tasteless, the pasta was tasteless and fish tasted like cooked from a packet, supposed to be white wine sause...again SWIMMING IN OIL or butter?!... the pizza was tasteless and dry...the bottles of oil and balsamic on the tables are disgusting - old and refilled with watery tasteless oil of some description, which they admitted too when we asked for some proper olive oil. We were promised everything is fresh and italian ...the frozen bread rolls and packets of butter REALLY?!...70 quid later I'm bitterly disappointed. The quality of resturant as Port Solent is lacking so this was my go to when taking friends out. But twice now its been bad enough to send back, speak to the staff about it and embarrassing for me. Shame because I want to spend my money with small local independents. Views are great and sunny spot outside if that counts for anything. Are Specials really specials if they are the same for 5 months...lobster tortellini beautiful but again last time tasted reheated or from frozen...who knows.

The scenery is beautiful, such a lovely view. The food on the other hand is awful, not fresh seems like everything is precooked. Within minutes after ordering our starters they arrived cold! Food was 1-10 the view 10-10 The dessert was actually really nice so one star for that but my opinion there’s a lot nicer restaurants on the port.

Best Italian food I've ever had. Place was packed so i was very surprised when our food came out super quick with excellent presentation maintained. All the staff were friendly and very attentive. I even polished off Nana's lasange 👌

A nice place, food good, noisy atmosphere when busy. Everything ok except the service. It takes ages to get served? They should have little buttons on the tables to tell the waiters you are ready to order, or you need something, or to simply pay your bill. Then when you have to shout to get their attention they end up looking at you with distain! This might sound trivial but it’s very important when you’re sitting their for ages like a smelly fish! When the waiters do end up serving you they are very nice! Plus their disabled toilets need some attention.

my first course of mushrooms were cold no warning on menu to say served cold staff tried to warm them up but still believe they were not cooked or prepared as freshley as could be. but your tiramisu was incredible.

Always a pleasant atmosphere and food is first class.

Went for early dinner at 1730. Only a young family were there making hell of a noise. Food arrived within minutes of sitting down, surprising as we only just served our drinks. We had a prawn cocktail each, the sauce was so hot- and lettuce was so old, even rhe tomatos still had stalks in. Couldn't eat it. Then with another 2 mins the chicken dish arrived, it was so much garlic and rosemary it tasted awful. It was very apparent that food was pre cooked and not fresh. the breast of chicken was sort if powdery. Fresh veg of the day was peppers and coquette, it was very small portion along with 5 x chopped fried potato's. It was a surprise not to eat fresh food at the price we paid. We left with 25 mins of arriving. Ruined our date night. Won't be going back. Also shocked at paying £6.50 for a J2O too. I know we should of complained but just wanted to get out of there. Lesson learnt .

Staff lovely. Food average. Carbonara with bacon? I thought Italians did it with guanciale. Pizza with pinapple? Erm... No choice of pizza with prosciutto crudo or cotto. Better to have 10 or 15 dishes done authentically than full menu with food that isn't Italian.

The best fish I ever eat in the UK.

Party of 4 people We went around 4:30pm durring the week so the restaurant was pretty empty. We didn't wait long at all for the food but it was uncomfortable for what we believed to be one of the chefs and a waitress just steering at us while we were looking in the menus and eating our food. Once other people came to the restaurant we were not feeling watched anymore. Food was great and portions were quite big. Could've done with some italian music for the atmosphere but we had fun and enjoyed the delicious food.
