Had a family catch up, some of us haven’t seen each other in months. We decided to go for breakfast before wandering around the shops…. And we weren’t disappointed. Yummy food. Great price point for the amount of food you get. It came out to us quickly, even though it was busy. The staff were very helpful, and friendly. Couldn’t recommend enough, will be coming back!

Went there for breakfast The speed of service was absolutely fantastic, as well as the customer experience our servers name was Vans and he was exceptionally kind. The food was great and his attitude was even better. He’s even a bit of a looker will definitely come back.

Popped in with my family Monday just gone. Quality of food was absolutely delicious! Came out promptly, even though it was busy. The staff were super friendly, and had a coffee whilst waiting for our food. Would definitely recommend and will be coming back in the future.

I had a pint of Neck Oil with the father in law. Fantastic pub with a good atmosphere.... £7 A PINT! Fair play, the father in law paid.

Great bar with around average Gunwharf prices. Very friendly staff and nice decor. Can get a bit busy but never had a problem sitting. Would recommend.

Not a great experience. Went for the Sunday roast. Apart from the meat everything else was cold, potatoes were overcooked on the outside and the gravy way too thick. The way it was served looked like a mess on a plate. Asked for it to be warmed up but came back the same. Our other meals in our party also cold.

I popped in with my partner yesterday. A first time visit that really impressed! We were tended by Andy who could not have been more helpful. The BBQ Burger with ‘burnt ends’ was recommended and it was simply fantastic! Washed down with a pint of Moretti, our day was made. There’s an approachable, unpretentious feel at The Liquorist. We’ll definitely be back:)

Excellent food, we had 3 sandwiches off their sandwich menu. All we fantastic and yummy. It was the first somewhat sunny weekend and the speed of service given this fact was fantastic. All the staff were very attentive, would highly recommend and will be back soon!

I visited The Liquorist with my wife and friends on Saturday 2 December. We ordered drinks, then having looked at the menu, ordered a number of dishes to share around. Whilst ordering, a couple items were unavailable, so we had to amend our order. Having paid and returned to our table, a waitress arrived to tell us that further items were unavailable, so we reordered and she paid us the difference in cash. We waited a long time, but eventually the first part of our order arrived. We waited and waited, but nothing else seemed to be forthcoming. The waitress at one point passed by and was surprised when we told her we were still waiting for the missing items. Finally, we had had enough of waiting, so approached another waitress and told her that we could not wait any longer, because we had an appointment to keep. We would like a refund. She directed us to, presumably, a more senior member of staff. She told us that a refund would be processed to my card in the next ten days, which seemed strange, as they could have done it there and then. Ten days later and nothing had appeared on my card, so I tried calling The Liquorist. Having got through the phone menu system I was promptly cut off. I tried again but the same thing happened. As a result I emailed The Liquorist. A week later no response had been received, so I emailed again. This time, Tristan van den Heuvel, the deputy manager, tried to call me, but I was in a meeting, so couldn't take the call. He later emailed to tell me that he had called, and asked when the best time would be to call back. I replied, saying that I was available most of the time, but it was unlucky that he had called when he did. Despite this, I did not receive another call. A while later, this time after Christmas I tried calling, but was told that Tristan was not working that day. The person I spoke to said that he would pass on my message and that Tristan would call me on his return. I have still not had another phone call. I have been very patient about this, resisting the temptation to leave such a review, but it is clear that I will not receive any further contact. The level of service throughout has been very poor. Finally, I am annoyed that I cannot remember her name, but when I asked the lady who told us about the refund what her name was, she replied 'you're not going to leave a bad review, are you?'. Seems that is all this establishment cares about.

Enjoyed a late breakfast. Food lovely and a good price. Staff very welcoming and even better a free glass of prosecco for Mother's Day. Will definitely be going again.

My dining experience left much to be desired. The steak, despite its promising description, was disappointingly chewy, almost as if it hadn't received adequate cooking attention. Adding to the letdown, the accompanying chips arrived cold, further diminishing the overall meal quality. The service, unfortunately, did not salvage the situation, lacking the attentiveness one expects.

Excellent service provided by Lauren. They were quick and efficient. The food came down with very little wait time from the kitchen and was yummy! We had Gammon Steak & Rump steak, both were cooked to perfection! Will be back soon!

I popped in with my family today. The service we received was top quality - super happy and chatty staff. My mum and dad thoroughly enjoyed their hot drinks. Our breakfasts came down promptly and definitely readied us for the day! Definitely would recommended!

Had an absolutely amazing time at the Liquorist last night, food was amazing and only took 15mins to come. Cocktails were 2 for 1 all evening and very reasonably priced. Will definitely be coming back 😁

Excellent time at brunch today, had amazing service, as soon as our drinks were empty we were brought new ones, I believe our waitress was suzie… if that wrong sorry, shows we had a good time tho haha, honestly tho definitely recommend, had a bottle of Prosecco from the get go and definitely plenty of cocktails to keep, way more than our moneys worth. Lovely staff, food was very good. I had the BBQ burger, added a pint of Guinness for about £1 I was impressed, and one thing is for sure: Will be returning!

Large bar/restaurant over 2 floors, seating indoors and out. Nicely decorated with friendly staff. Food was delicious, the Rump Steak did not have one bit of chewy rind as you can see in the photo.

Myself and a Couple of Friends went to Bingo night, it was amazing, highly recommend it, the food was good, and came out fast. The drinks were also fairly priced, given that we won a few drinks during bingo and two for one on cocktails is on all the time, everyone including the guys running bingo looked to be in hysterics. I will definitely be coming again.

Generic chain pub fodder, had a burger it was average. Nice place with a nice atmosphere though.

Great esthetics and the food was ok. I got an avocado toast that had a spread of guacamole and I founf that a little odd. Also it had spice in it that I wasn't expecting. However my firend had an English breakfast and I tasted some and it was good. The ordering process is like most places here in Portsmouth, you oder it on an online app and they come to your table or you go to the bar to order and then they bring it to your table. So remember you table number! Overall it was nice to be able to chat on your own time and not feel rushed and the prices are decent for the current economy.

Went here for a Christmas gathering, the pre-ordered food options were changed when we were there - not good ☹️ The food came out in batches and slowly, meaning some people had finished their main course before some even got theirs - not good ☹️ Drinks - table service was available, which saved walking up and down the stairs. Prices for drinks were expensive considering we were only drinking beer !! The place looked clean and tidy to start with. Toilets were clean. Staff friendly and polite. Gunwharf parking.

Amazing atmosphere and the coolest place to go for a unique experience in Gunwharf. Good for work parties and pre drinks to share with friends. Only downside was that it took a while to get served but got to be expected on a weekend.

We had our Xmas party here and I was left very disappointed with the food. The starter I had chosen was substituted with no warning. I was given a pathetic chicken salad instead of the chicken and apricot terrine. The meal had been booked months ago and I was told that they didn't have the terrine the day before either, this is not good service. I know it's difficult to serve lots of meals at the same time but most of us had finished our main course when those who had ordered the turkey were just being served and apparently it was not worth the wait.

Had a wonderful Christmas dinner at the Liquorist. Lauren's service was absolutely superb, the food was delicious and the food wait wasn't long at all. Would highly recommend coming here for a visit as the atmosphere is fantastic

Stopped in for breakfast before the dreaded Christmas shop. Very polite and helpful staff and the veggie breakfast served me all day until teatime. Very enjoyable.

Excellent service by Lauren. Couldn’t have been more helpful, we had a table booked for the champions league games. Reserved us a table downstairs however informed us that we could sit upstairs with commentary on if we wanted! 2-4-1 Amstel 5-8 meant we had plenty of drinks while we watched the game, also had a combo sharer to eat between the 3 of us. Will definitely be back to watch more games here!

Went for a Sunday roast as advertised online. When asked to order we’re told they don’t do them, even though on menu, as per picture. Restaurant area was untidy, dirty tables and carpets/floor very sticky. The cleaner must’ve had the day off or not very good!

I booked a table for 6pm on a Saturday for food. I did this online as I am not local & chose the liquorist because it looked nice & showed a nice festive menu. We are a group of 4 50+ ladies, at the door we were asked for ID, of course we all laughed & was then told if we didn’t have ID we couldn’t enter. We explained we had a table booked & we were told we could go in but if we came out we wouldn’t be allowed back in without ID. I assume this is a local thing as I have NEVER experienced this before. When we entered, the bar was busy & very noisy & there was no obvious place to check in for our reservation. I found someone that was clearing up & asked where we should go. He went off & came back & showed us to a bar stool small table in the noisy bar. We were told to order via the app, which did not accept our table number & there was no festive menu - the reason we had booked. We were going to leave, but I remembered I had paid a £10 deposit, so we had a drink & took the time to call round to find another venue. The table we were given was fine for drinks, but not for dinner. It was a very frustrating experience, as had I known the festive menu was unavailable I would not have booked. Obviously on a Saturday evening other venues that were called were fully booked & it just created stress that we could have done without. I would say this is more of a drinks bar & not to be booked for dinner.

Lovely outside seating area, with a nice view overseeing the harbour. Only ordered a starter of the chicken skewers, which tasted lovely and came swiftly. Very relaxing, only fault was the table numbers didn’t quite match up on the app!
