If I could have given it a 0 I would have. The food was horrible, we sent the chips back as they were not cooked - rock hard. They then came back about 10 minutes later and were burnt to a crisp. When we raised it with the manager about them being ‘home made’ and don’t think they were, he admitted that they weren’t, they came from a bag - not sure why they are being advertised as home made? The ‘home made’ pie was definitely from a pack too, the mushrooms were like rubber. Our toddler spent most of the meal upset because he was either waiting for food to be recooked or it was burnt. The staff were not interested at all, the waitress just kept speaking over my husband. She went to speak with her manager about removing the chips from the bill, he couldn’t even be bothered to come over, until we asked to speak to him about feedback. He again couldn’t be less interested, just said ‘oh sorry about that’. Definitely will not be returning. We actually left the park as wanted a proper meal rather than a burger van, we will be going to the burger van next time. Absolutely horrible - avoid at all cost!

I went in expecting a pricy but decent enough meal. The short version, poor service, bad food, bad drinks and I would still have felt like I had been robbed at half the price. Long version Given the location I expected a slightly above average cost however I did not expect the quality to be so far below par. To start off with we ordered two soft drinks, neither of which actually had any syrup and were just fizzy water, we sent those back, no issue, someone forgot to run the pumps after changing the syrups not a major drama we were given replacements without any fuss. When the food came my wife had a visually appealing sandwich that she said was quite nice, but refused to eat the fries that came with it as they tasted like "old oil". Not great for the premium cost. My meal was a decent size portion of fish with some of the worst batter I've ever come across, pale and soggy before it reached our table. I'm not even sure how to describe the chips, again very pale soggy, almost like they were pre boiled but forgotten to be fried before serving. I would have felt ripped off at £8 if I got this meal from a local chippy but the fact this was £20 from a "bistro" supposedly serving upmarket local produce is an utter joke. All in, the meal cost over £40, when I went to the bar to pay I was promptly ignored by two young women having a chat and playing on their phones while the young lad who had served our table had to hurry up finishing what he was doing to take our payment. I would also add, there was a total of maybe 6 other people in the rather spacious restaurant at the time. Clearly not run off their feet. As we were staying in the hotel for the evening we were subjected to this sub par establishment again for breakfast. The service was much better in the morning, very polite and prompt. However the food was sub par but servicable. I've had better at almost every cheap business hotel chain you can imagine.

We recently stayed at the Hex hotel so breakfast was in the bistro and naturally decided to check out the bistro for dinner. Breakfast is a buffet style and although the food selection was good enough the hot food on offer was only just warm and unpleasant. Dinner was better and the staff were friendly and attentive. Both our meals included chips which were hard and chewy having been reheated. I'll never understand why a professional kitchen can't serve proper fresh chips. Unimpressed.

Convenient and Tasty, but Be Aware of Outdoor Seating. We recently had the pleasure of dining at Wilds Café Bistro not once, but twice - once in the evening and once for breakfast. As a hotel guest, the restaurant's location couldn't be more convenient, literally just a step away from the hotel door. In the evening, my companion and I stuck to our usual habits and opted for burgers from the menu. Our orders arrived promptly, and we were impressed with the presentation and preparation of our meals, which we felt represented fair value for money at £17.00 each. However, we made the mistake of sitting outside to enjoy the pleasant weather, which turned out to be my mistake. Be warned: if you choose to sit outside, don't expect any service whatsoever. It seems that the outdoor seating area is a self-service zone. The next morning, we returned to the restaurant for their breakfast buffet, which offered an impressive spread of fresh fruits, cereals, pastries, and cooked breakfast items. We were pleased with the taste and preparation of our selections, and despite the staff being a bit rushed due to the busy morning, they handled the crowds admirably. Our experiences at Wilds Café Bistro were quite satisfying but not overwhelming. The evening meal was delightful in presentation and taste, and the breakfast buffet offered a fantastic spread to start the day. But the convenient location and good food make Wilds Café Bistro a decent option, especially for hotel guests.

We stayed at Hex on Sunday night as we were watching Jessie J at Wildlive. The food was average but the chips were cold and tasted like they had been under a hot plate for a while. The young staff were very good but that's about it! I ordered a pasta main which was an incredibly small portion considering the £18 price tag. More like a starter size. The evening got progressively worse when a pensioner coach trip party arrived and we were subjected to bingo calling over the whole sound system during our meal. Inappropriate and completely unacceptable in a so called Bistro! You are charged inflated prices for very average quality food. The staff were apologetic and said numerous diners have complained in the past about the dreadful bingo. If you want to pay over the odds for a 2 star hotel in Blackpool experience, this is the place for you! Seriously, avoid!!

As we were staying in The Hex Hotel , it made sense to eat on site rather than venture into Doncaster ...... This place is a delight - especially on an evening. The lighting and table layout is spot on and the staff were all extremely welcoming and even my picky eating habits and random requests were accommodated without too much eye rolling! The food is absolutely spot on - we did three courses with a suitable (large) amount of accompanying alcohol and the bill was below 3 figures so decent value for money as well in a laid back, no rush environment.

One of the meals turned up stone cold so was sent back. We finished our meals and despite the restaurant being practically empty, they were never cleared up. We were never asked if we wanted a dessert nor any additional drinks. Staff walking past ignoring us. It took getting up and putting our coats on as we got fed up of waiting for someone to actually attempt to sort our bill. Update 14/12/2023 Popped in for breakfast - buffet breakfast all you can eat £13.95 very nice 🙂 good service 🤩 We visited here for afternoon tea. It was a Sunday and 14:00. The place was pretty empty thus very quiet. The food was ok, but for 16/17£ per person I felt it was missing something. Perhaps a few more sandwiches, better salad side, rather than all those bought in cakes. I will stick to the standard menu next time. The place itself is very clean and the ambience/setting inside is great, it has so much potential! It just needs a rethink, some money injecting into the menu / kitchen to allow the chefs to provide something unique that matches the fantastic setting. Toilets were super clean, and good baby change and disabled 🚻 within the restaurant. Good wheelchair access and seating available.

Have visited before, but not for a while as past visits were poor. sad to say today’s experience was no better, wasn’t eating just wanted a drink. Ordered 2 drinks at the bar had to take a seat…wait 5 minutes for drinks to be brought to the table, there were only 3 tables occupied including us!!! When we ordered a second drink my partner received theirs straight away at the bar but I again had to wait for a glass of wine to be brought to the table some minutes later. Baffling when there were as many staff as there were tables occupied!!!!

Visited Saturday morning before the rush started around 11:45 Service was diabolical tbh, was seated then basically ignored despite the restaurant probably being at 10% capacity. After 15 mins of trying to catch the eyes of the walking dead (and failing) I decided to go to the bar to order myself, order taken, then waited… 10 mins went by and my brother joined us at the table, he then went to the bar to order himself as we’d already ordered. A further 10 mins went by and my brother’s food arrived. I was then asked if I’d like to order also (this was by the girl that took my order circa 20 mins prior) I enlightened her of this fact and our Luke warm food appeared some moments later, I’d given up any explanation at this point and the meal was decidedly average. Utterly clueless.

We arrived at the bistro after a lovely day in the wildlife park our table was booked for 17.15 and we had 2 hours to dine before we were back off into the park for the winter illuminations this should have been plenty of time……..I was wrong!! First impressions were great we were seated straight away and had our drinks order taken these arrived quite promptly so thank you to the bar man who looked like he was in his own cocktail movie behind the bar. We waited over 15 minutes to order meanwhile about 5 other tables were seated and they all ordered before we did!! The young waitress was either new or very inexperienced when it came to prioritising customers. When we did ordered, 2 starters and a kids meal we asked for that to come at the same time as our granddaughter was getting hungry. The starters were out pretty quickly but we had to ask for the kiddies meal as they had forgotten. The Camembert cheese starter was probably the best meal of the evening however the bread was un toasted and the roasted garlic was not roasted at all. I always though bruschetta was toasted maybe I’m wrong because the prawn starter was just on bread!! This was where we seemed to be forgotten we finished our starter and no one was interested in clearing them away after what seemed like ages and we were now 18.20 I asked a young man who seemed very surprised to take away the empty plates and asked if they could bring the main courses. Maybe that was my mistake, maybe he didn’t inform the kitchen because we then waited over 30 minutes for 1 burger, 2 chicken burgers and a halloumi baguette!! I even asked twice how long it was going to be to be told the kitchen was very busy. Now I’m sorry but I don’t believe you as by this point most customers had left including the tables that came in after us so why did we have to wait so long and let me say it was not even worth the wait!! All of the burgers were cold and the halloumi which I thought may have been nicely grilled and bursting with pesto flavour sadly had seen no grill and had no pesto at all I could have made better at home. We were so disappointed and it really wasn’t worth the money or the wait!!

We visited on 16th October 23 hotel package included a breakfast here just outside the hotel. The bistro was clean and welcoming , the staff both members were friendly, helpful and kind while staying professional. We can’t recall one staff members name ( sorry) we did recall Adrian both were so accommodating they made us feel really welcome thank you. The Buffett was set as you would expect drinks / toast / hot food / cereals / pastries / fresh fruits / yogs/ juices etc Huge selection and all of outstanding quality. Our teen is autistic so couldn’t find anything he felt he could eat, the staff offered to make him an alternative ( despite the huge variety on offer ) they could see he was struggling. He declined but this gesture to include and accommodate him meant we felt we could relax and reduced any pressure on us. Our son settled for watermelon and a satsuma so was able to enjoy those. We had cooked breakfasts from the buffet area and expected the normal type of food - we were pleasantly surprised! The food was piping hot , each element was the right texture ( mushrooms and tomatoes not mushy they were beautifully cooked the mushroom had pepper on which added a lovely dimension to the breakfast. The quality of the sausages and bacon were exceptional ( as was the whole meal. If we lived locally we would go there often for a breakfast if the produce is as good as this at breakfast we would be very happy to return . Outstanding breakfast exceptional service thank you

Had the worst dining experience here! A party of 13 of us ate here on a day out to the YWP. 7 of us were served very fast, with another 6 left for a good 15 / 20 minutes, we had to chase this up as 4 waiting were small children that were becoming unsettled seeing everyone else eat. 3 of us ordered the beef burgers and then added bacon and cheese (not a cheap meal at nearly £17 a plate.). I can honestly say I've never tasted anything so disgusting in all my life! The burger was black and the whole meal smelt burnt, so bad in fact i couldn't sit with it on the table! This was consistent across all 3 of the beef burgers. They were simply inedible - not that we didn't try as we had spent so much and were all very hungry after a full day of walking. None of the adults enjoyed their meals. However, the children's chicken nugget meals were lovely - tho for £7 I should think so! Definitely will not be returning, and I'd advise others not to eat here. Totally put a downer on the whole day with a combined bill of around £250 for the pleasure.

Waiting staff were entirely inattentive and seemed to think we should have let them know we'd finished our starters and we're ready for our main course. We’ve been here twice now (May 2022 and August 2023) and had similarly bizarre experiences both times. The waiting staff seem to have a real problem remembering the table numbering system and working out what table each order is meant to be going to. On both visits we repeatedly had waiting staff coming up to our table with random food and drinks asking if they were for us. It got pretty funny as it was so ridiculous, and did at least provide some entertainment during the long wait for what we had ordered. This time, when my grilled halloumi salad came the halloumi was completely uncooked - I’m not exaggerating. I asked for the halloumi to be cooked and when it came back it was really burnt on one side yet somehow still not cooked through. This was really poor and not what you expect for £13.50 for a salad. I wish we’d asked for a refund for it. We felt really sorry for the waiting staff as the system is incredibly inefficient and it must be very stressful for them. The management need to rethink how this bistro is run - both visits were on a Saturday lunchtime but the place was nowhere near full. The decor is really lovely but the chaotic service and long wait for food dampens the atmosphere somewhat. Prices are expensive for average food (when it’s properly cooked). I would recommend trying one of the other cafes or restaurants in the complex instead of Wilds.

So... the food isn't amazing, but it is good (id rate it better than most chain pubs who microwave everything and on par at times with some gastro pubs). The service is hit and miss, we've had attentive servers and also the opposite, not asking whether our food is OK or anything after putting our food down. The thing is, after a long day at the wildlife park, it's an easy stop to ensure I don't have to cook and wash up and also my toddler seems to be less of a threenager there, so win win. Plus I get 20% off due to being a gold member of ywp. I do love the decor and also the fact that's its never that busy, so I can actually unwind after the hordes at the park. Had a horrible experience for my birthday. One Staff member aggressive to my younger brother, the food was burnt, the atmosphere was awful. I am very disappointed. From the minute we walked in we wasn’t greeted nicely. The food was that bad we left to go to the grind which was amazing 10/10 would always recommend, served by najma who was amazing, and made my birthday great again. The bar tender volkan. Thank you guys for making my day and WILD CAFE BISTRO DO BETTER !!! CHECK OUT THE PICTURE OF FOOD FOR THE GRIND

Are here for breakfast whilst staying in the hotel. Breakfast was good, buffet had plenty of options which were hot. Staff were friendly and it was just a good breakfast. Nice start to the day.

The worst experience sat 1hr waiting for food only to be told the order was not taken although we were asked to order at the bar and receipts were provided. Some of my family who got their food did not like it cos it was burnt and I ordered fish and Chips and it was Iceland frozen fish which was dry and cold inside . WORST PLACE my daughter's birthday meal was ruined!!!

3 of us booked a meal for after our day in the park. We had chicken burgers and steak and ale pie with brownies and cookie n cream cheesecake for dessert. All food tasted great and a good portion size. The welcome and service we received was excellent. We would definitely return, many thanks.

Went into the bar before it closed for some water for our room in the hotel. Walked in and no greeting, just a "I'VE CALLED LAST ORDERS SO YOU CAN HAVE ONE DRINK" what a lovely attitude to a customer. But we had a chat....

Disappointing second visit. The first time we came here the breakfast items we had were really good so we were looking forward to having breakfast again. Unfortunately we were left disappointed. The salmon on the eggs royal was so tough and stringy in parts it was inedible, the hollandaise sauce was thick and gloopy and had obviously been stood as it was cold as the top had gone hard and a different colour to the rest. The eggs were perfectly cooked but the rest was a let down. The pancakes were just 3 very thin pancakes which looked like the thin scotch pancakes you get in supermarkets with a think layer of yogurt spread over the top. Really disappointing and won’t be going back again as the food standards have obviously gone downhill.

First time coming to wilds cafe bistro, so had to have a 8oz rump steak which was served with house salad and a choice of fries and I always have my steak R/M it was that nice I had to find out who cooked my steak & his name was Andy what a chef he is that was the nicest steak I've ever had. The girls on the bar & on floor are very friendly. I can say il definitely come again and have a steak if Andy is cooking them.

Everything is overpriced and poor/average quality and I mean everything. Ales are not kept well and wines etc are bought via their sister site (Shire Stores), food isn't great but expensive and they've gone through chefs like a knife through butter ! I wasn't there but my friend was in recently when the little lad (aka Bar Manager) refused to serve 2 customers at 10.50pm, at which point another customer offered to buy them a drink only to be told by the manager that they would be barred if they bought them drinks - wow, how to treat your customers. On the hygiene front, they made a massive thing out of finally getting a 5 star rating after the recent and well documented rat issues which is fair enough. However, the gents still stinks horrendous and of course the rat issue occurred when they previously had 5 stars - so much for the ratings. Previous employees and suppliers are still owed £1000's I keep popping in but there's no sign of things getting any better

We stopped here for one night to complete a run the next morning. Restaurant This is one of the best meals we have had in a long time. Most meals we have had elsewhere recently have had poor service or low quality food. Not here! The staff were so friendly and accommodating and very attentive. The service was just right; orders taken and plates cleared at appropriate times, and just the right amount of time between courses; not rushed and didn’t take ages. We share a garlic and cheese pizza bread which was tasty, hot and fresh. I had the pulled pork Yorkshire and my husband has the sausage and mash, again nice and hot and delicious; the vegetables were cooked perfectly too not mushy and not al dente. We had Bakewell tart for pudding and it was lovely to be asked whether we wanted it cold or warm. Hotel A really smooth check in again with really helpful and lovely staff. The room was small and basic but very clean and tastefully decorated. Nice and quiet apart from the odd train going past. Mini toiletries in the bathroom. Clean and fluffy towels. Tea making facilities and biscuits. Plenty of plug sockets. Good WiFi connection too. Thank you for a lovely stay and a lovely meal.
