¡Increíble menú festivo! Nada era demasiado problema, casera que ama su pub y se nota en el esfuerzo de ella y su equipo! El pub es ahora el centro del pueblo de nuevo, han pasado años desde que se sintió tan bien.

I love the cosiness and calm of the place. The Ivanhoe has a good selection of drinks, it's cosy (particularly with the open fire in the winter), the Sunday lunches are good value and good quality. Quiz nights on a Tuesday are lively, with a great atmosphere. Its so refreshing to have a no phones/ laptops/ tv policy- you actually get to talk and connect with people without distraction. The staff are all friendly and welcoming. Really great place to spend quality time with friends and family.

Lovely village pub in a wonderful location, always get a warm and friendly reception and that's not just from the open fire in the bar. Humphrey doesn't make life easy for his landlords and landladies with his restrictions and rules but rest assured Julie and Matt have brought a new lease of life to the Ivanhoe.

Three of us went for lunch today. I was really looking forward to it as I worked there 20 years ago and I used to love it. However, there was no atmosphere and the food was just okay. Our meet up was so I could help my mum and her friend do online check-in for a holiday we're going on next week. We were asked to leave as they don't allow phones (I can't believe I just wrote that but it's true!). The staff member started by telling us to keep the phone under the table so noone saw and then the staff member came back and said that other customers wouldn't like it if we were allowed to use our phones when they aren't allowed to use theirs and we were told that there are cameras and the staff will get into trouble if they allow us to use our phones. It was bizarre. Totally bizarre. I understand that it's nice to be without phones and suggesting limiting them but to actually make you leave? It's so silly. It's not like we were being the Nokia guy from trigger happy! I was literally quietly helping 2 ladies who are not confident with technology do a simple online check-in. So yeah, I'm totally bamboozled. Won't be back.

It's a lovely building in a lovely area but the food is awful and there is no atmosphere. They have a no-music no-mobiles policy which sounded good to us, but as there was hardly anyone there, the silence was uncomfortable.

Was once the Jewel of Sprotbrough! Now run by a Brewery who doesn't give a single F to it's customers or Managers! Don't get too comfortable here, but at least the beer is cheap!

The venue itself is glorious, as is it's location, it could be so much more if someone else owned it. Sam Smiths pubs are renowned for being run as an 18th century establishment, no music, no mobile phones etc. They exclusively sell their own products and it just so happens that their products are ghastly. Ok Sam Smiths pubs are generally cheaper but even those prices are too high for what you get. The owner (Humphrey) treats his staff like dirt and has no intention of bringing his establishments into the 21st century. Been a few times - YUK

This pub desperately needs a park There is no park at any pub anywhere near here The kids are left to play on an ancient helicopter climbing frame The beer is good and cheap as 🍟 The location is outstanding with tons if parking and if you're lucky you may catch a game of cricket The terrace is a sun trap They now take contactless as well

went for Sunday lunch with my wife today it was a really good experience. A really wholesome home cooked lunch which was prepared by the recently appointed young landlady and her husband who did a excellent front of house job in looking after us and making us welcome. we both had a roast beef lunch with a huge Yorkshire pudding and 3 fresh veg and roast and created potatoes, the beef was the tenderness I have eaten in a pub Sunday lunch environment. we had a dessert of sticky toffee pudding with custard and my wife had a gluten free chocolate fudge pudding both were excellent. First visit won't be our last.

Tried to go for lunch on a workday but was told there was a 40 minute wait for a sandwich because there were already 3 tables booked in and they have a small kitchen. Went to Otto instead, (who have a much smaller kitchen) and got served within 10 minutes of ordering.

If you get the whole Sammy Smith's Co ethos - cash only, no mobiles, no swearing - making conversation rather than looking at your phone, cheap beer, cheap food but not at the expense of quality then you will love this place as much as me. Oh, as an added bonus you can sit outside and watch a game of cricket 🏏. Friendly staff and decent interior and seemingly decent folk as customers. The Thai Curry was delicious as was the stout.😊

The new tenants have done a great job in reviving the food served here. I had lovely fresh fish , chips and mushy peas cooked to perfection. My wife had the steak and ale pie, a proper pie with 4 sides, a base and top, not one of those puff pastry lid efforts. Delicious sticky toffee pudding and ice cream to follow for only £.4.25. Extensive range of menu choices, washed down with old brewery bitter. What’s not to like. We will be back on a regular basis.

Been in a few times in the past 6 months and still a great pub. Beer is always lovely (Double Four) and they’ve done a really good job of the renovation. Only complaint would be the current landlady (Sue?) comes across as very frosty, overheard some comments about customers that weren’t particularly nice! Update - New landlord and landlady are great! The pub is really clean and they are a lovely young couple, great atmosphere and feels like The Ivanhoe of old

The Ivanhoe was recently reopened. It styles itself as a pub and restaurant, the decor is very arty, the food is very good and honest, teh seating is comfortable. You are not squashed in. Think gentlemens club in an agatha christie play. And theres local cricket going to be on in the summer. The beer is of course good ( and very reasonably priced ) Just be aware. Mobile phones not allowed ... its that oldfashioned

The Ivanhoe is an institution in Sprotbrough. Right next to the cricket pitch and very visible from the main road . Its a very large pub indeed. It’s recently been closed for refurbishment so we thought we’d check it out when it reopened. Oh dear! Big pub in affluent semi- rural suburb - what do you imagine? Well , what you get is a darkly redecorated pub with an atmosphere straight from the 1970s. Way too brightly lit, the lounge is the old style ‘big room’. Ok for clubs but not a modern pub. Although only about a third full when we visited, staff seemed to struggle with service. Hand pulled beer was limited to just one choice and food orders seemed more of a nuisance. It’s cheap though. At £2 per pint, it attracts a regular clientele but is distinctly non- aspirational. We waited so long for service - we left. Total spend £4! It’s a Sam Smith pub so it has certain peculiarities. Swearing is banned as is mobile phone use. I liked that. The decoration was well done and there were lots of original features but it wasn’t my style. This place should be a goldmine pulling in all the disposable income that Sprotbrough village has to give. Sadly - it isn’t. I know some people really like this style of pub but it’s a rapidly declining market and not for me. Ok if you want a cheap pint.

We had our annual family meal on Saturday night.....our table was in the large back room which was cold and we were the only dinner party in there so we wasn't part of the atmosphere like the rest of the restaurant, we had pensioners in our group that felt the cold so it wasn't ideal.....we all pretty much ordered our food at the same time but 4 members of our party was left waiting an hour and half before they got there meals which by that time everyone else had finished theirs. My meal when it arrived was disgusting.....I ordered a rump steak, it came like it had been steam rollered it was insipid in colour like it had been boiled rather than fried or flame grilled and had no taste at all also adding it was served cold. The staff were pretty good to be honest but whoever runs the kitchen needs replacing because the food that was served there were only 2 meals that were barely acceptable out of 10........can't fault the bar staff they did a great job but your food and food service is the worst I've ever experienced and I'm sorry to say I will never set foot in this establishment again.........ps I hope your fine dining restaurant gives customers a better experience because you're pub grub is absolutely gross.

Excellent place, staff very attentive (even told us when barrel was about to be changed so drinks would be a little slower), good food and exceptional value - well done, and toilets clean, a perfect example of a well run Wetherspoons.
