Brilliant place for a cheap drink.. Had the New crispy Korean chicken bowl & my husband had the Korean chicken wrap both were delicious. Will definitely have it again on our return. Staff are friendly & great service.

Although a great public house it certainly has it's short commings. Had a Large mixed grill for lunch. It came, it looked gorgeous. Within 3 minutes we were asked if meal was ok. We replied yes BECAUSE IT LOOKED that way until I tried eating my steak. It was RAW. I politely pointed this out to the waitress who earlier asked if everything was ok. She snapped lightly and said " You told me everything was ok" I replied I hadn't gotten to my steak and she shouldn't asked within minutes of receiving our meals. NO Apology, just asked me what the meat was and then said she'd order a replacement. 10 minutes later a far smaller version arrived. Again no apologies 🤨

The service is very poor, they don't keep the real ale particularly well and the staff look as if they don't really want to be there. Customer service severely lacking.

Sadly I can't put 5 stars cos second visit is absolutely terrible. Been there in midweek and pub is very busy and service it's amazing, food great, so happy but come here today again, Sunday evening 15 September but.... Food it's nice again, well done, but service it's a slow and terrible, this pub is not busy today and no understand why is all services so slow..and not a smile, looks like hate this work.. so sad cos when I been here in midweek when pub is really busy everything come great and in Sunday when is absolutely not busy....its a terrible service. Sorry, maybe not recommended in Sunday when working lazy staff.

Had a perfect two nights stay here in a faultless room, very comfortable and spotless. All the staff whether working in the pub or housekeeping are truly AMAZING. Special mention to Lesley, Katie, Emma and Bev. We have done a previous review on Google and hadn't met the other lovely staff, it won't let me amend it. Absolutely nothing is too much trouble for these lovely Yorkshire people to ensure you have a comfortable stay. Wouldn't hesitate to stay again. Thank you all staff very

Doncaster, famous racecourse. This Spoons would qualify as the rank outsider in any Spoons league. Would definitely not win any prizes nor rosettes. The food was only just warm when it arrived, some elements of the mixed grill were overcooked, the beefburger was well cooked. The tea fascility did not have milk in a jug but relied on milk from the machine which had an odd effect on the tea. This was the worst Spoons I have ever visited.

Excellent food and nice clean premises. Fantastic rooms if you stay over night very clean and tidy outfit . Great prices.

I didn't stay at the hotel, I had breakfast here and it was yummy! Staff were friendly and helpful, lots of smiles.

Price said £1.99 for a hand pulled beer, was charged £2.49, when I said " it's got a price of £1.99" I was told " well my til says £2.49 so that's what it is " she the proceeds to laugh with her colleague. I asked for her first name so I could complain, was told " no chance " PLEASE STAY WELL CLEAR, WORST SPOONS EVER

Visited this Wetherspoons on Saturday 27th of July to watch Doncaster Vs Middlesbrough. Anyway I was starving after the game and needed a pizza to fill me up before getting the train but was massively disappointed as it came all burnt and overcooked after I spent 8 quid on it. I only ate half of it, couldn't finish the rest as it was the worst Pizza I've ever had. I will never be ordering food from this Wetherspoons again in the very near future. 1/5

Cheap food and beer can't go wrong

Rooms look newly done and clean and tidy. Big shower. Usual spoons fare downstairs. Very reasonably priced for a city centre hotel.

It’s a Wetherspoons. I had breakfast. It was insanely cheap.

The room was very small. The WiFi did not work, it would not stay connected. The power outlets did not all work. The service was good, and the room was clean. Food was average.

Probably the best rooms to stay in locally. Poor service though, you could wear a pink hat, wait ages to be served and the guy in grey who's just turned up at the bar gets served instantly, Wetherspoons trait in some pubs. But great value and good food and drinks.

Stayed here whilst on a stag do, the room was great, very clean, the bathroom was also very clean, and had a decent shower. The pub is in an excellent location for a night out and, being a Spoons, is very reasonably priced. Whilst in the room you wouldn't know you were above a busy pub, it was very quiet upstairs, obviously done a great job with the soundproofing. I would definitely stay here again.

I would just like mention a manager who went above and beyond for me. You don't see it often, but Wayne did this for me. I cant thank Wayne enough and I hope he gets the recognition he deserves as delivering that sort of customer service happens rarely, having a focus of doing all you can for your customer happens rarely now. Busy at weekends, nice big pub with great staff.

It ok the food need to be fresh

Dropped in for a bite to eat, and ordered cheeseburgers and chips.. Cheeseburgers arrived without cheese, so mentioned it to staff who whipped the plates away, then came back with them to tell us we'd ordered incorrectly. Had to show our email comfirmation to prove we had in fact ordered correctly. Plates were whipped away again, and brought back with a slice of cheese on each burger, but after the food had been taken back to the kitchen twice, it was then cold. Poor service, and the assumption we'd ordered incorrectly just pissed me off.. Shame, it seems like a pretty decent spoons... But we'll be unlikely to go back..

Actually the Red Lion (JD WETHERSPOON) was an excellent place to enjoy a relaxing breakfast. I was invited (reluctantly) by my brother over for a quick brekkie. Before now, I would NEVER have gone into that pub not because of the excellent hygiene standards or very good facilities, including polite staff. It's because I actually HATE that right-wing leaning - Brexit UK economy destroying - owner/founder boss - (Timothy R. Martin) with a passion and ALL what he stands for! So OK apart from the above I will NOT hold the same feelings against his staff as they are completely different in character and style. A surprisingly pleasant experience!..

Nice Wetherspoon pub. Clean and tidy inside and very warm and welcoming. Staff were friendly and polite and provided great service. Food was good quality, and drinks were very well priced as you'd expect. Ordered most of the items on app to table, which was seamless and quick.

Absolutely disgusted, asked for cheese on my young child’s burger, didn’t come with cheese so I went up to ask for the cheese and was told I would have to pay separately for it, which I said was fine, was very surprised that a slice of cheese cost £1.52 when it arrived is wasn’t even real cheese but that processed plastic looking stuff, asked a menber of staff and they said it was correct, apart for that the food was ok but cold by the time it arrived at the table.

Lovely Lovely rooms, clean, well equipped and a wonderful cleaner, probably the only person who had time for you, the rest were simply overworked. Being foreign, I did not know how Wetherspoons worked, so I felt a little belittled whilst ordering food and expectations of services

Very good Spoons, plenty of room, great staff, food very good, clean but yes, you've guessed it, the toilets are a 2 mile hike upstairs, not good for my old knees. 😂 Highly recommend and will visit again on my next visit to Donny.👍 This review is only for the Bar AND NOT the Hotel.

Just wanted something simple for lunch so opted for a jacket potatoe with cheese. Turned up with diced mozzarella on it which I found strange. The nice lady said it’s always been like that. I’m sure that’s not true. Where’s the cheddar?

On Saturday 15th July, I visited the Red Lion spoons in Doncaster. The evening started well with a selection of punk IPAs brought to the table and the fresh smell of the halloumi fries I ordered. Then things took a turn for the worse. The server brought the 10 chicken wings I had ordered to the table. I looked at them a little lost and confused, I wasn’t sure if it was the punk IPAs kicking in but once I had oriented myself I realised what the issue was; THERE WAS NO SRIRACHA COATING! I couldn’t quite believe what had happened - concerned that spoons had changed the menu I spent the next week shaking at home before eventually returning to the sheaf island spoons on 22nd July in Sheffield where they served 10 piping hot and well coated wings. PANIC over! I understand ingredients can be out of stock from time to time and mistakes happen. But I would have appreciated an explanation upon service in this case. I’ve since ordered at Aberystwyth and Carmarthen spoons just to make sure- for wing lovers the great taste lives on 🍗

We visited for a quick breakfast, with pub having friendly staff, the food being typical Wetherspoons fare. The food was brought out quickly.

Went for a meal with my husband food terrible staff don't know how to smile.no atmosphere. My larger was served in a pop glass when asked for a ladies glass was told have not got any my larger went flat the place is dirty do not come here if you want a nice experience

Probably the worst Katsu Curry we have ever had. The chicken was very tough, and all the food was cold, could not and didn't eat. Took it bac, was offered another serving btt declined and was given our money back. The staff were really good and helpful, just the food which let you down

Stayed 3 nights at this Wetherspoons hotel. A very very popular venue, particularly for young people, but at the ripe old age of 72 we never considered ourselves out of place. Little known, persons with Disability badges can park all day in the Market Square, despite the warning signs! But do check Doncaster website, we did. Food and service here we found to be good, and don't forget breakfast is served till 12 Noon. Room was good, but steep flight of stairs to 1st Floor. Has very large attractive patio area at the back.

Lively, friendly pub. Service via Wetherspoons app was the quickest I have experienced. Would definitely return Drink prices were really cheap too. The Guinness was first class

Stayed for 4 nights May 6-10. booked well in advance knowing that it was Coronation and Bank Holiday weekend. Our room for two was unbelievably small. we travel with carryon luggage only - there was nowhere to put or open suitcases. The double bed barely fit. no room at the bottom of the bed for more than one person to walk sideways to the bathroom. bathroom weirdly large and brand new. seemed clean enough. have travelled extensively in Europe and this room was undoubtedly the smallest i have ever seen.

Not good at all had tea and breakfast and to be honest all i can say is it has hit rock bottom brekkie not that good prices have shot up and quality has gone down only luke warm food and only one hot drink machine hich is not good the place needs a kick up the bottom nobody seems to care anymore

Had a day out in Doncaster and stopped at this pub for a bit of lunch we really enjoyed it lovely staff fast service. The waiters work so hard there always busy . I had fish my husband had the wrap we will return hear again if we are ever in Doncaster

My self and daughter called who has dairy allergies i explained this to a lovely called Mary She could not possibly have been more helpful she went to the kitchen and made absolutely sure all was well for me and my daughter I can not thank the Red Lion (Wetherspoons) enough

I’ve been coming here on and off for forty years. In the early days, prawn cocktail followed by a steak! Nowadays it has a more interesting choice on the menu, all reasonably priced, and that also goes for their wine list.

Busy ambiance, delicious meals, very competitively priced...especially the ones with free drinks offers or upgrade to doubles for an extra £ !

The Red LionMy wife and I had booked local accommodation as we were looking at touring caravans in the area and called into The Red Lion as we know that Wetherspoons always has food on offer at a fair price. The price we paid for our meal was fair enough but sadly my “Curry” was awash with “liquid curry” far more than usual – I usually clear my plate but not in this instance – No one came round (as they usually do) to ask if everything was OK.The other sad thing (nothing to do with Wetherspoons) was you were only allowed 30 minutes on the Blue Badge Bays as a stranger to the city it made life difficult – I could see my car from the window until a dray wagon pulled up and blocked my view. I had to beat a hasty retreat as I didn’t want to incur a parking ticket!

Me n my wife regularly visit this pub we love it the atmosphere is really good and welcoming however the kast few times we have visited the food has not been to its usual standards. Today we went for breakfast which prompted this review, bacon was like wafer thin ham and eggs were not cooked properly boarderline raw, my wife had shell in her egg which cant be avoided at times but the amount in her egg could have been also grilled tomato was not grilled it was burnt. We wont be returning for food!!!

The food here is nice, no different to any other Wetherspoons really! The only downside is that it is often very busy and tables are very crammed in.

First time staying in a Wetherspoons Hotel and it will not be our last. The Red Lion is spot on the room was just what we needed. Clean and comfortable with everything you needed. Stayed on a Friday night for one night it is room only and the best bit check out is 11am and breakfast is served till 12 So result .

I have been here before about 2 years ago. This is a restaurant review, we did not stay at the hotel. This time we both had the steak deal and it was excellent. Both steaks were cooked to our different requiremnts exactly as we wanted. What really impressed me was the barman. He explained that they had just taken a large order and that our meals would be about 20 minutes. I timed it and it was exactly 20 minutes! Another member of staff was helpful when I could not find any mustard. She asked for my table number and delivered mustard about 2 minutes later. We shall return the next time we are in Doncaster.

Visited here three times during our race clubs annual long weekend in Doncaster and had three great visits.I love the look of this Wetherspoon pub, the main room is dominated by a solid wood serving bar, great decor and furnishings and plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub both inside and outside in their cool beer garden.We enjoyed some great meals in here ,the fish & chips my twin brother Stephen and I got here on a Friday afternoon was great ,we also sampled some great beers ,the real ales are famous throughout the Wetherspoon chain of pubs,we had some great pale ales ,as we are members of C.A.M.R.A we were entitled to 50p off a pint of real ale with our beer tokens ,we also sampled some great continental beers ,my brother and I are particularly fond of the great Italian beer Birra Moretti and enjoyed them in their courtyard, all our visits on both the Friday and Saturday were really good and when we are back in Doncaster next year we will most certainly revisit this great Wetherspoon pub. The Red Lion Pub is easy to locate on Market Place .Opening hours are;Monday to Thursday, 7am till Midnight. Friday & Saturday, 7am till 1am.Sunday, 7am till Midnight. A great Wetherspoon pub, well worth checking out if your in the area.

I hope it’s spelt right but she’s a lovely women who looked out for one of my friends she’s a credit to the team who I wish the best for!

My partner asked if the cured bacon was smoked and she was told no, the person who served her actually ask the chef and they still brought her the cured bacon that is smoked.

Better than most of this chain, although extremely busy we were served immediately as unusually there were plenty of attentive bar staff, beer was on very good form, food to standard, toilets surprising clean given the numbers there. Although crowded we were impressed with the friendly atmosphere.

This place is never one to let you down. Always has a good atmosphere and is a fab place for cheap food when you want a catch up with friends. Steak night on a Tuesday is fab, the prices are great.

12 of us got together for food & drinks. Food, value for money good. After ordering it all arrived prompt and well arranged. Place was really busy as it was a lovely sunny afternoon and alot was seated outside as the area is lovely. Down side was only 2 bar staff and one was extremly slow. Needed another. Would visit again though

Use this place whenever in Doncaster. Food cheap, plentiful and pretty good for basically a fast food chain. Good value for money, prompt service even though very busy day, struggled to find a table! Will use again.

Came out for some tea and it was absolutely heaving!!! The service was still fantastic and we had our food and drink within 15 minutes of ordering. I have the up most respect for the workers.
