A lovely pub, served a lovely breakfast. It was very close and convenient for my visit in Doncaster and I would happily go there again. I didn't have accommodation here so I can't comment on what the rooms are like.

Typical good value Wetherspoons and a people watching Nirvana.

I would like to say everytime I visit this venue it's an absolutely an amazing experience the food is great but what makes it more outstanding is the staff there is a lovley lady called Kasha who's customer service go's above and behond she can't do enough to make your visit exceptional even if she has not personally served she she goes out of her way to make sure your experience is 100%. Also a big shout out to Andy for helping me with this review as I'm computerlate, A massive thanks to all and every staff memeber J.D WITHERSPOON'S be veey of your staff at the Red Lion in Doncaster....

Great place good vibes and very nice pleasant staff

City centre whetherspoons. Was very busy Saturday evening and night. Sadly too busy to eat. Had breakfast Sunday and Monday and evening meal on Sunday. Food was spot on as was the service.

Reviewing the pub! The price is okay but it gets so busy at times and the staff can be a little on edge, you can see they are just waiting to finish their shift. Maybe there needs to be a few more so they can afford time to smile. Good location in the centre of the city.

Mushroom Benedict was my choice today. Friendly staff, loads of seating areas for food. Wide range of food at really good prices. Wide range of drinks also good price range.

Updated from my most recent visit where I asked for an accessible toilet due to a catalogue of health issues including Parkinson’s. A young lady advised me and stated she would check I had got there OK after she had put empty glasses behind the bar. True to her word she came and checked I was ok, I found a manager? Afterwards and commended her customer service. One of two outstanding pieces of Customer Service in November Well done Wetherspoons

Siempre llamamos a El León Rojo aproximadamente una vez al mes, ya sea para el almuerzo o un desayuno tardío. La comida siempre se cocina fresca y se entrega a la mesa rápidamente y en tubería caliente. Nunca nos han decepcionado, incluso justo después del cierre y solo estaban haciendo servicio de mesa . El hotel es un poco de mala muerte y podría hacer con un lifting facial , pero no dejes que esto te disuada de saber que tendrás una gran comida. El personal es amable , profesional , incluso cuando el restaurante está abarrotado los días de Carrera y mercado , las mesas se limpian rápidamente y se limpian , si no entonces siempre es un camarero / camarera dispuesto a agradecer . Las bebidas se sirven rápidamente, especialmente si se piden en la aplicación Wetherspoons, de lo contrario, puede tener una corta espera en el bar. También tienen muchas ofertas en , como filete martes , curry jueves , y con la mayoría de las comidas las bebidas se reducen de precio también después de primera taza de té / café / chocolate caliente se puede recargar tantas veces como desee . Siempre hay un ambiente ocupado pero acogedor en este restaurante, una comida muy agradable.

Brilliant place for a cheap drink.. Had the New crispy Korean chicken bowl & my husband had the Korean chicken wrap both were delicious. Will definitely have it again on our return. Staff are friendly & great service.

Although a great public house it certainly has it's short commings. Had a Large mixed grill for lunch. It came, it looked gorgeous. Within 3 minutes we were asked if meal was ok. We replied yes BECAUSE IT LOOKED that way until I tried eating my steak. It was RAW. I politely pointed this out to the waitress who earlier asked if everything was ok. She snapped lightly and said " You told me everything was ok" I replied I hadn't gotten to my steak and she shouldn't asked within minutes of receiving our meals. NO Apology, just asked me what the meat was and then said she'd order a replacement. 10 minutes later a far smaller version arrived. Again no apologies 🤨

The service is very poor, they don't keep the real ale particularly well and the staff look as if they don't really want to be there. Customer service severely lacking.

Sadly I can't put 5 stars cos second visit is absolutely terrible. Been there in midweek and pub is very busy and service it's amazing, food great, so happy but come here today again, Sunday evening 15 September but.... Food it's nice again, well done, but service it's a slow and terrible, this pub is not busy today and no understand why is all services so slow..and not a smile, looks like hate this work.. so sad cos when I been here in midweek when pub is really busy everything come great and in Sunday when is absolutely not busy....its a terrible service. Sorry, maybe not recommended in Sunday when working lazy staff.

Tuvimos una estancia perfecta de dos noches aquí en una habitación impecable, muy cómodo e impecable. Todo el personal, ya sea trabajando en el pub o el servicio de limpieza son realmente INCREÍBLES. Mención especial a Lesley, Katie, Emma y Bev. Hemos hecho una revisión previa en Google y no habíamos conocido al otro personal encantador, no me deja modificarlo. Absolutamente nada es demasiado problema para esta encantadora gente de Yorkshire para garantizar que tenga una estancia cómoda. No dudaría en alojarse de nuevo. Muchas gracias a todo el personal.

Doncaster, famoso hipódromo. Estos Spoons calificarían como el forastero de rango en cualquier liga de Spoons. Definitivamente no ganaría ningún premio ni rosetas. La comida solo estaba caliente cuando llegó, algunos elementos de la parrilla mixta estaban demasiado cocidos, la hamburguesa de carne estaba bien cocinada. La cafetera de té no tenía leche en una jarra, sino que dependía de la leche de la máquina, que tenía un efecto extraño en el té. Esta fue la peor cuchara que he visitado.

Price said £1.99 for a hand pulled beer, was charged £2.49, when I said " it's got a price of £1.99" I was told " well my til says £2.49 so that's what it is " she the proceeds to laugh with her colleague. Visited this Wetherspoons on Saturday 27th of July to watch Doncaster Vs Middlesbrough. Anyway I was starving after the game and needed a pizza to fill me up before getting the train but was massively disappointed as it came all burnt and overcooked after I spent 8 quid on it. I only ate half of it, couldn't finish the rest as it was the worst Pizza I've ever had. I will never be ordering food from this Wetherspoons again in the very near future. 1/5

Cheap food and beer can't go wrong

Rooms look newly done and clean and tidy. Big shower. Usual spoons fare downstairs. Very reasonably priced for a city centre hotel.

It’s a Wetherspoons. I had breakfast. It was insanely cheap.

The room was very small. The WiFi did not work, it would not stay connected. The power outlets did not all work. The service was good, and the room was clean. Food was average.

Probably the best rooms to stay in locally. Poor service though, you could wear a pink hat, wait ages to be served and the guy in grey who's just turned up at the bar gets served instantly, Wetherspoons trait in some pubs. But great value and good food and drinks.

Stayed here whilst on a stag do, the room was great, very clean, the bathroom was also very clean, and had a decent shower. The pub is in an excellent location for a night out and, being a Spoons, is very reasonably priced. Whilst in the room you wouldn't know you were above a busy pub, it was very quiet upstairs, obviously done a great job with the soundproofing. I would definitely stay here again.

I would just like mention a manager who went above and beyond for me. You don't see it often, but Wayne did this for me. I cant thank Wayne enough and I hope he gets the recognition he deserves as delivering that sort of customer service happens rarely, having a focus of doing all you can for your customer happens rarely now. Busy at weekends, nice big pub with great staff.

It ok the food need to be fresh

Dropped in for a bite to eat, and ordered cheeseburgers and chips.. Cheeseburgers arrived without cheese, so mentioned it to staff who whipped the plates away, then came back with them to tell us we'd ordered incorrectly. Had to show our email comfirmation to prove we had in fact ordered correctly. Plates were whipped away again, and brought back with a slice of cheese on each burger, but after the food had been taken back to the kitchen twice, it was then cold. Poor service, and the assumption we'd ordered incorrectly just pissed me off.. Shame, it seems like a pretty decent spoons... But we'll be unlikely to go back..

Actually the Red Lion (JD WETHERSPOON) was an excellent place to enjoy a relaxing breakfast. I was invited (reluctantly) by my brother over for a quick brekkie. Before now, I would NEVER have gone into that pub not because of the excellent hygiene standards or very good facilities, including polite staff. It's because I actually HATE that right-wing leaning - Brexit UK economy destroying - owner/founder boss - (Timothy R. Martin) with a passion and ALL what he stands for! So OK apart from the above I will NOT hold the same feelings against his staff as they are completely different in character and style. A surprisingly pleasant experience!..

Nice Wetherspoon pub. Clean and tidy inside and very warm and welcoming. Staff were friendly and polite and provided great service. Food was good quality, and drinks were very well priced as you'd expect. Ordered most of the items on app to table, which was seamless and quick.

Absolutely disgusted, asked for cheese on my young child’s burger, didn’t come with cheese so I went up to ask for the cheese and was told I would have to pay separately for it, which I said was fine, was very surprised that a slice of cheese cost £1.52 when it arrived is wasn’t even real cheese but that processed plastic looking stuff, asked a menber of staff and they said it was correct, apart for that the food was ok but cold by the time it arrived at the table.

Wetherspoons Hotel located on the market place, approximately 15 minutes walk from the railway station NOTE no lift to room's not good for people who have mobility problems

Lovely Lovely rooms, clean, well equipped and a wonderful cleaner, probably the only person who had time for you, the rest were simply overworked. Being foreign, I did not know how Wetherspoons worked, so I felt a little belittled whilst ordering food and expectations of services

Very good Spoons, plenty of room, great staff, food very good, clean but yes, you've guessed it, the toilets are a 2 mile hike upstairs, not good for my old knees. 😂 Highly recommend and will visit again on my next visit to Donny.👍 This review is only for the Bar AND NOT the Hotel.

On Saturday 15th July, I visited the Red Lion spoons in Doncaster. The evening started well with a selection of punk IPAs brought to the table and the fresh smell of the halloumi fries I ordered. Then things took a turn for the worse. The server brought the 10 chicken wings I had ordered to the table. I looked at them a little lost and confused, I wasn’t sure if it was the punk IPAs kicking in but once I had oriented myself I realised what the issue was; THERE WAS NO SRIRACHA COATING! I couldn’t quite believe what had happened - concerned that spoons had changed the menu I spent the next week shaking at home before eventually returning to the sheaf island spoons on 22nd July in Sheffield where they served 10 piping hot and well coated wings. PANIC over! I understand ingredients can be out of stock from time to time and mistakes happen. But I would have appreciated an explanation upon service in this case. I’ve since ordered at Aberystwyth and Carmarthen spoons just to make sure- for wing lovers the great taste lives on 🍗

Probably the worst Katsu Curry we have ever had. The chicken was very tough, and all the food was cold, could not and didn't eat. Took it bac, was offered another serving btt declined and was given our money back. The staff were really good and helpful, just the food which let you down

Stayed 3 nights at this Wetherspoons hotel. A very very popular venue, particularly for young people, but at the ripe old age of 72 we never considered ourselves out of place. Little known, persons with Disability badges can park all day in the Market Square, despite the warning signs! But do check Doncaster website, we did. Food and service here we found to be good, and don't forget breakfast is served till 12 Noon. Room was good, but steep flight of stairs to 1st Floor. Has very large attractive patio area at the back.

Lively, friendly pub. Service via Wetherspoons app was the quickest I have experienced. Would definitely return Drink prices were really cheap too. The Guinness was first class

Stayed for 4 nights May 6-10. booked well in advance knowing that it was Coronation and Bank Holiday weekend. Our room for two was unbelievably small. we travel with carryon luggage only - there was nowhere to put or open suitcases. The double bed barely fit. no room at the bottom of the bed for more than one person to walk sideways to the bathroom. bathroom weirdly large and brand new. seemed clean enough. have travelled extensively in Europe and this room was undoubtedly the smallest i have ever seen.

Not good at all had tea and breakfast and to be honest all i can say is it has hit rock bottom brekkie not that good prices have shot up and quality has gone down only luke warm food and only one hot drink machine hich is not good the place needs a kick up the bottom nobody seems to care anymore

Had a day out in Doncaster and stopped at this pub for a bit of lunch we really enjoyed it lovely staff fast service. The waiters work so hard there always busy . I had fish my husband had the wrap we will return hear again if we are ever in Doncaster

My self and daughter called who has dairy allergies i explained this to a lovely called Mary She could not possibly have been more helpful she went to the kitchen and made absolutely sure all was well for me and my daughter I can not thank the Red Lion (Wetherspoons) enough

Visited on a busy Saturday lunchtime for the first time after lockdown. What has happened to this place?? It looks scruffy, the range of cask ales on offer was terrible, tables were filthy with no cleaning being done once previous customers glasses and crockery were...

Never ever again will I come in this pub the staff are so rude and the managers attitude stinks! Family ordered a breakfast paid for extra mushrooms and meal came without any on one and two on the other when asked was told that two...
